Think it would be good to add some items we would like to talk about on a list. That would also be good for the new roadmap Magi needs to add here.

Any thoughts on how to combat the whales that are mining and destroying the block reward or will this just stay like this? What about increasing the POS % to encourage more people to save in wallets? This is a valid concern. Strategies to tackle it won't be simple and straightforward though. I felt like that a more closer look of the coin in the tech side and much more beyond the tech side, systemically and thoroughly, would be needed. I would be more than happy to carry this out, while lack of time is the issue. It is certain that implementing strategies in practice needs to be careful, cause those most likely need hard fork. I've been trying to go with a "professional" and responsible routine to carry out the improvements, still much lack of direction, but yet I suspect increasing PoS would be good option. The coin is mostly designed by one person, at a certain degree, one person's thinking dominating most others wouldn't sound too good. And yeah, one needs to keep working on it, researching (meant research  ) by injecting complex, and then may hit optimization by the time. There are two things surely needed, funds and time, and I hope to get over the latter very soon. |

Congratulations to everybody who joined the second Proof of Interest campaign. Sorry have to quote a message drafted by magic.  A real case for me is that was being hard into something that make me being away of putting hands on the right things, though as I messaged magic I did run into ideas from time to time and be passionate about that. Rest assured that I would talk those out at some point. We're proposing Saturday meetup in IRC, myself with magic privately; anyone interested, welcome to check vibrations out there. Coin of the Magi information: As i promised you all, today is the day to give the first information about the awesome and unique development made by TheFruitsClan Its really something Magical and there will be another BIG suprise launched after 06-06-2015. TheFruitsClan and the Coin of the Magi will bring the Game-world and the Crypto-world closer to each other! The Hungergames are almost done and we have a training field server open from now until the real Hungergames start. With this game project you can win XMG. There will be 10 games, every game is worth a certain amount of XMG worth, so if you win more games you will receive more XMG. The prices are donated by the Magi team. The various games are designed specifically for Magi. Some games are easy but some are pretty hard. For those who had never played the game before, you can play and train at the training field server. So you know what to do when the real tournament starts. You must have a XMG wallet to join the games. There will be a form posted or something like that to register for the games. You can also play with the wallet of TheFruitsClan. That way you will donate the coins you won to TheFruitsClan.  How to connect with our server: start the game enter your minecraft username and password click on multiplayer click add a server and then enter play.fruitscraft.nl in the hub you enter the XMG portal Walk in to the water and your there. How do I find out my DB version in OSX (Yosemite) - so I can check if a DB migration is required to upgrade to the new wallet please?

I believe you ran the mac os wallet from us, then unfortunately you'll have to do it, as all prior mac wallets (< v1.2.2.1) were built with higher version of DB > 4.8. |

The concern was actually raised by Phillc... But I haven't seen him around since I unintentionally chased him out of the community. Sad thoughts aside, it's great to hear that the wallets will have consistent BDB versions now. I'll update my sources so the branches with pull requests are even with the official release. Thanks, I believe being consistence is the better option. |

Starting from v1.2.2.1, we will use Berkeley DB v4.8.30.NC in any future release (http://download.oracle.com/berkeley-db/db-4.8.30.NC.tar.gz). The DB concern was raised by feldenthorne. We will stick to the version 4.8 for compatibility. For this reason, you may need to do setup in case you were running wallet with a higher DB version >4.8: # Windows: not affected since all prior wallets were built using the same DB version. # Mac OS: you have to perform DB migration as detailed below. # Linux: you have to perform DB migration as detailed below. The Linux wallet now was built statically enclosing most of libraries. The current release was built by Linux Mint, and has been tested under my Xubuntu VB box. Let me know your linux version if it doesn't work for you. I found one issue when building statical linux wallet that is the Qt font which I haven't managed to embed it statically. You need to set this up manually: 1) create a folder: /usr/local/Qt-5.4.1/lib/fonts; 2) copy a TTF font file into this folder, e.g., DroidSans.ttf as enclosed in the "fonts" folder, or any others you can find elsewhere. Note to Mac OS compilation: I was only able to build db-4.8.30.NC by applying patch as specified here: https://trac.macports.org/browser/trunk/dports/databases/db48/files/patch-dbinc_atomic.h?rev=104994DB migration:If you ran the wallet with a higher DB version, you will have to re-sync the whole blockchain and convert to db4.8 wallet. 1) Make sure to backup wallet.dat. Delete everything (blockchain) except wallet.dat. If you don't want to spend much time to download everything through the wallet, I have uploaded an existing chain here: http://coinmagi.org/files/m-blockchain; download and unpack the files into the magi folder. 2) Rename wallet.dat to, say wallet.dat.db6 (assume your prior db version is 6), and then do the following: /opt/local/src/db/db-6.1.19/release/bin/db_dump wallet.dat.db6 | /opt/local/src/db/db-4.8.30.NC/release/bin/db_load wallet.dat
I have two DB installed respectively in /opt/local/src/db/db-6.1.19/release/bin/ and /opt/local/src/db/db-4.8.30.NC/release/bin. 3) Rund Qt wallet. 4) If you have issue with wallet conversion, I could do it for you. Alternatively, simply start over a new wallet (through the new wallet) and transfer coins into it (through the old wallet). A side note: you are free to use any DB version to build the wallet; it works just fine, though we recommend to use the official wallets which are built with DB4.8. Let me know any questions you may have.

There is a guide for compiling it here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg9576881#msg9576881 but that is an excellent question. Is there a compiled miner for Mac? Does it differ from one OS version to another? Edit: Is it about time we produced a proper collection of miners (and wallets) for different platforms? This should be consolidated rather better than we have it right now. I can only do the Windows stuff myself. It is still difficult for new fans to get started - evidence from very recent posts. We have to do better on this Good idea, there are million stuffs I have to sort out, while lack of time is still my concern; hate to say "I will do it", finally. |
