621  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by LegendaryAccss on: October 11, 2023, 02:02:04 PM
Removing the first mistake that you committed which is to trust someone that is account seller here. I believe the most valuable lesson on your experience here is don’t deal outside the forum especially telegram. No trusted Bitcointalk escrow will deal outside the forum since their reputation was built here not on telegram. Dealing someone on the telegram including escrows is equivalent to trusting new set of user especially if they don’t acknowledgment the telegram account through the use of their Bitcointalk account.

This scam scheme is not knew either and there’s a lot of scammer keeps impersonating trusted user telegram here by changing some letters to make it looks like identical so it’s better to deal only inside the forum rather than the telegram.
622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin on: October 11, 2023, 07:31:34 AM
How about you guys, did you earn your first Bitcoin through services here on this forum? Are you mining or you bought it as well? Which crypto came to you first, is it Bitcoin or Altcoins? What are your Bitcoin source at the moment if you don't mind me asking?

I earn my first satoshi through the faucet. I’m not surprised that new member here will eye for signature campaign to earn Bitcoin since faucet earnings is not that huge anymore but in my time when I first discover Bitcoin, faucet earnings is huge in terms of Bitcoin so I’m always very eager to collect since I have a goal back then to earn my 1BTC which I collected in months of using a faucet rotator that time to claim multiple rewards in different faucet site.

I manage to purchase many things including significant things when Bitcoin first hit the 20K price during 2017 bullrun. I still have my first Bitcoin address but it gives me pain whenever I saw how huge my Bitcoin back then that I early sold due to my weakness on purchasing I desired which is now useless like my gaming laptop.
623  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone encountered any dog race betting here? on: October 11, 2023, 07:25:29 AM
People will never be fascinated with that kind of race, as it can end up shortened their lives especially  if they got major injuries while having the race.

I remember betting on this type race before from unknown casino which I don’t remember anymore. They are not using regular dog but rather a hound that typically runs fast in nature so I don’t think making them race will make their life shorter.

In fact, it’s not like horse racing which there’s a jockey hitting them hard. On dog racing, they have a lure so that the dog chase on it. I think this kind of sports is very rare to see on sportsbook since there’s no regular tournaments for this kind of race. Also it’s not being broadcast in regular sports channel so the demand on this kind of race is not that huge.

625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: October 10, 2023, 03:14:03 PM
Making gambling a full time job might be seen as risky but I still feel one can make gambling full time job and a career.

What do you all think?

This is possible on skill based game such as sports betting and poker. There’s a lot of players that having a full time career on gambling by just watching sports and bet on it or play poker in different tournaments which they can dominate their opponents.

There’s a lot of stories about people being banned in the casino in both online or irl. They are the living proof that gambling can be a career if you are gifted with a good skills to dominate this kind of industry. It’s not for everyone so make sure to think about it carefully before you start involving yourself.
626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler? on: October 10, 2023, 02:47:34 PM
So Famz, is there any benefits when one keeps record on their losses and wins? Is there any thing to gain when you write down all the money you spent in gambling and also how much you have made so far?

Aside from getting records for your tax purposes, I don’t see any point on doing this kind of thing on gambling since gambling should be for entertainment not a form of profit making that needs to be recorded every game. I remember you can always request this kind of records to the support to have records for specific time frame.

Playing alone will makes me busy while recording profit/loss for the game will surely out of my mind once I’m done gambling. It’s not mandatory to do a record unless this is required for your tax purposes.
627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advice to friend for financial improvement. on: October 08, 2023, 07:24:39 AM
I've noticed a topic

I think it depends on the priority and use case because who will use investment money just to purchase an iphone? It’s not bad to purchase gadget if you need it and you have money for it. It’s not necessary to invest every penny of your money on Bitcoin and leave all your necessities to make your life enjoyable.

What if you die tomorrow while you put all your money on Bitcoin? You need to balance it to have a happy life currently and prepare in the future by properly splitting your capital in different type expenses and investments.
628  Other / Meta / Re: Should Merit-Sources use feelings when giving out Merit? on: October 08, 2023, 07:18:59 AM
this thing about merits and the merit-sources. If you are a merit-source, should you always give away merit to good posts even if you dislike the user that created the post?
Or are you allowed to be controlled by your feelings and only give away merit to people you like or don't know?

I believe merit source that dislike the user usually ignores it therefore he will not able to see its post. Merit is human with feelings and it’s not a paid position which he can do whatever he wants on what his guidelines to send merit.

On most cases, I believe merit sources doesn’t read the post that they don’t like unless it was posted in reply to their thread or post. But I saw many times that merit sources still sending merits on post of user that they have arguments. It’s case to case basis but we can’t enforce this to every merit source since it’s a volunteer work without payment. As long as merit is being distribute properly on good quality post then their job is fulfilled regardless of their avoiding post on user that dislike since there’s a lot of merit source available out there to cover for it.
629  Economy / Gambling / Re: Crypto Sportsbook to handle large bets? on: October 07, 2023, 06:50:46 PM
i contacted rollbit and a few others and they claim the provider increases them as they wish and theyre legit $200 for NCAAF lol

Seriously, they only limit your bet to $200? If that's true, it doesn't sound like the place for high rollers. Maybe you should consider trying out other sportsbooks. I've used sportsbet.io for a single bet of $1,000, and I had no issues withdrawing my winnings. Give it a shot, mate.

It’s not surprising since other casino has more harsh limitations than a 200$ bet. Most probably this high roller is winning frequently that’s why casino is limiting them. If reputable casino is limiting them to the point that the player himself want to get out then there’s a high chance that other casino will do the same once this user display same portfolio since casino doesn’t want to be on consistent lose on a certain player while they have a regular member that losing money.

They are business after all so they are not interested on a high roller user that can give -ve profit to them. Cheesy
630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I want to fulfill my mother's dream of building a house with Bitcoin. on: October 07, 2023, 06:43:11 PM
You must pray for me so that I can fulfill my mother's dream.

You will need a decent job or a business to get that kind of money for your dream house construction. You can’t earn magically using Bitcoin unless you have a decent capital for your Bitcoin investment.

The era of earning x100 and above on Bitcoin is already over that gives you possibility to get a money worthy of building a dream house with minimal investment involved. It’s not bad to dream big on Bitcoin but you should know that Bitcoin is an investment and not a money printer so you will still need a hard work and decent income just to have enough money for your dream. Don’t rely too much on Bitcoin for your future but rather invest only what you can afford to lose and focus on your job or something that will give you consistent profit.
631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are successful gamblers seen as addicts? on: October 06, 2023, 03:48:20 PM
~snip~
If they are skilled, it is because they learned it to the point of mastering it well. If it is luck, we can only wait for it to come, and it will not come to everyone. Only certain people can get their luck. Successful gamblers may own their casinos, but they hide their identity as casino owners and enjoy their lives peacefully. There is no point in showing off their success because that will only make them enemies.

And it is true that behind success, there are sad stories experienced by each successful person. And if they can learn from the mistakes he made along his journey to success, he will be a successful person. Successful gamblers also learn from their mistakes to become successful gamblers.

It is always luck, and the odds are against the gambler.

In the rare situation that a gambler ends up winning a large amount, the casino will be quick to give them food and drinks for free so that they stay for as long as possible.

This depends. Yeah old school casino wants player that winning big to stay longer for a chance to be lose for playing longer but the situation change now since gambler is evolving too and there’s type of games which a gambler can take advantage with a good analysis skills such as sports betting.

The best example is the recent hot topic here about Dana White being restricted to gamble on some casino due to his frequent big win. Casino preferred to kick out the player that giving them losses instead of staying him longer to play. Restricting players that win frequently is the new way of casino ti avoid losses and focus on players that contributes more.
632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lottery with a twist on: October 06, 2023, 03:42:26 PM
Any thoughts? Is there any similar projects out there?

There’s no known lottery project here that has a mechanics like this which distribute prize on random user. It’s more on a raffle than a lottery since user is not betting on a picked numbers but rather the smart contract is just selecting entries as winner.

L0tt0.com is your nearest competitor for lotto based game. The only problem on this kind of game is every round can be useless whenever there’s no participants aside from one user who place bet compared to a regular lotto games which the casino provides prize pool for players to win with their bet. This game is more on just PVP.
633  Economy / Economics / Re: I am forgetting the value of money. on: October 06, 2023, 02:16:38 PM

I've begun to realize that I may be losing touch with the value of money due to exposure to the vast sums and high salaries of people online. In the past, when I had no access to the internet and a phone, I used to carefully save every cent and think twice before spending just $1. However, now I find myself spending more without a second thought.

It’s not about exposure to high salary people online but rather things like subscription and other type of expenses is more easy to do now due to online payment. It’s very easy to spend money even you don’t have enough once you browse something online that interest you while it falls on your budget range.

What can I do to remember the importance of money and spend more carefully?
Don’t use gadget or don’t browse online I guess. Just like what I mention above. It’s very hard to control yourself to not spend once you saw item that interest you that you can purchase online. Convenience is what makes people spend more. Or just do proper budget management so that you can only have limited budget that you can use to purchase miscellaneous things.
634  Economy / Services / Re: Duelbits KYC Verification (only experimented) on: October 06, 2023, 02:06:19 PM
Instead of paying someone to pass on KYC, why you just can't do that on your own? You'll have more trouble if it's not yourself that will do the verification per se.

It’s either he came from restricted country or he is doing shady transactions such as money laundering on his account that’s why he can’t do his own KYC verification because there’s no sense to hire and pay someone that he can do alone without any problem.

@OP, I’m not sure what you are trying to pullout here but completing KYC verification on different device and IP will sure raise an alarm to the casino since it’s different from the original data which you use when you register and play. Can you explain what’s this kind of experimented thing because this is new to me.
635  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 05, 2023, 12:39:43 PM

They had an impressive win, coming back from a 20-point deficit is hard, but Gilas made it and won by a single point. Brownlee is still the key to Gilas' success tomorrow evening. Jordan, although very confident as they are undefeated, should be a bit worried since China was ranked top 1, yet Gilas defeated them.

With the Philippines at 3.30 odds, that's a good deal already, like getting more than a 50% discount. Betting $100 would win you $230, a good deal indeed.
Not trying to become negative but it’s better to bet on handicap instead of ML just to make sure since the performance yesterday is not happening in regular basis. Brownlee shooting skills is not typically like that so we need that kind of luck in able to beat Jordan which has taller and stronger player naturally due to their genes.

I really hope that PH manage to win tomorrow but that 3.3 odds speak to itself on how PH players has disadvantage in terms of stats. We need more of Brownlee accurate shots to win this game, double than what he shows on China. Betting +10.5 to PH is a safe bet with still good odds imho.
636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hypothetical Question on: October 05, 2023, 12:29:15 PM
This kind of event is just like an imagination because everyone knows that nothing is 100% certain in sport betting or casino. the only thing that can make me go all in on a bet is if the person that told me agrees to refund me if it loses. if this is agreed upon then i can borrow some money to play but these things dosent really happen like that. i have seen some people being scammed with this kind of idea that a game is 100%  sure in the name of fixed game and they pay for it but eventually lose.

I doubt someone will refund you the money even if he agrees to refund it once the bet loses. Most of the time people that offering this kind of bet lies just to get money from you. With or without agreement to refund, you should not accept this kind of offer since it’s obvious that this is just a scam since you knew that there’s no guarantee bet.

Interesting facts about this thread is the OP lose big time by following the bet tips of his friend that was supposed match fixed but it turns out that the tipster is fraud. So this proves that there’s really no guarantee bet.  Grin
637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will the Gambling Sportybet (Company) Refund the Money? on: October 05, 2023, 07:06:02 AM
People nowadays really using the power of social media just to get advantage in every situation either it's good or nonsense, especially if it trends. The management should take this seriously and shouldn't listen to those who side with the boy, it's him to blame in the very first place.
And just like that, the management already said their side and so be it.

Agreed. I believe those whose siding with the boy doesn’t know what’s the terms and condition use. They are only using sympathy with their decision making while this boy will probably do it again once he received refund. He will not gamble his tuition fee if he has no further experience on risking his money before.

This kind of discussion is simply law vs feelings which we all know what will govern in the end. Allowing a refund on this situation will surely open up with chaos on asking for refund when they lose.  Cheesy
638  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 🚨🚨🚨 ROLLBIT confiscated my money. I made an honest bet 🚨🚨🚨HELP 😢😢😢 on: October 05, 2023, 06:54:09 AM
I did not have any fraudulent behavior. We both verified our account. We are two separate people. ok you can close my account. Ok . But you can't take my money. please someone help me. I will cry out of anger. please please please

You should read terms carefully especially if you are sharing internet connection with user that has same account on the casino because they clearly stated on ToS that only one per household or something allowed to create an account and claim bonuses.

Your only chance to refund your money is your total deposit but not the profit since you violate their terms. It’s really unfair but if you agree terms without reading while commit what mention in there as violation then you don’t have a say on it. Your issue is very hard to prove via virtual proof since your IP sharing is a clear evidence for multiple account as per terms description.
639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I choose Bitcoin on: October 04, 2023, 02:55:01 PM
Firstly with the rate at which the traditional currency in my country is steadily loosing value and the proposed profit and initial deposit might just be valueless at the matured time this deal might be of little or no value.
Secondly these platforms in my opinion cannot be trusted as different reasons can lead to their folding up and shutting down. I understand that life's a risk but some risks are not worth taking.
On the other hand I offered a solution. I asked him to invest in Bitcoin, now even though the price of bitcoin is volatile, in my opinion it is still more profitable to invest in Bitcoin especially for long term investment than in any fixed deposit scheme.
If you were in the position to give financial advice to someone looking for a long term financial investment, what would you advice?...

What country are you leaving because a bank offering 13% fixed interest rate while the inflation is very high is suicide on their business since they have more fiat money losing value while giving a high fixed interest rate will add more risk to them. I take it all day long I were you since it automatically cuts you some loss due to inflation in guaranteed way.

There’s no guarantee that Bitcoin will go up by the time your deposit unlock while there’s a chance of losing more. 13% is already high interest rate but I understand the concern about inflation. What I’m saying is there’s a chance to negate inflation through guaranteed way while you have job that can give you source of income for your daily expenses.
