621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin pump incoming >?? on: January 25, 2016, 10:54:20 AM
LTC always follows BTC, so if you know when will BTC rise you can predict LTC rise.
But i don't think LTC have any real power to do something without BTC.

In the last couple of months (I could say) year this is no longer true. LTC seems to split from BTC and went on a long downtrend. I think it's slowly losing it's "second to bitcoin" status. If we will have a big BTC hype and bubble in this year, that can take LTC to new heights with itself, together with everything else.
622  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Casino Game Reviews, Please Help on: January 25, 2016, 10:41:58 AM
I think all important features were listed above, but it would be good to see the age of the casino, amount of withdrawn bitcoins if possible, and a link to the official BTT topic (if there are any issues that will be surely indicated in the official topic).
623  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Olympics to allow pre-Op transgender athletes to compete on: January 25, 2016, 10:14:28 AM
To be fair, you would have to undertake hormone replacement therapy. I'm sure that could be cheated though, and you can boost your testosterone level back up shortly before competition.

There's possibly more at stake than just a medal and 15 mins fame. Few countries have special retirement benefits for Olympic medallists (i.e. unconditional monthly pension from when they turn 40 till the rest of their lives).

That's correct, the T level have to be below 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to the competition and also have to be kept on that low level "throughout the period of desired eligibility to compete in the female category". But lowered testosterone levels not doing anything significant with the already existing bone structure, muscle architecture, and nervous system functionality. So a male-to-female transgender will be always stronger and faster on reaction time than a real women.
624  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Olympics to allow pre-Op transgender athletes to compete on: January 25, 2016, 09:37:40 AM
So, if I'm a bloke after Olympic medals and 15 minutes fame (+advertisement income), but not sure if I can run faster than Usain Bolt or punch harder than Anthony Joshua then I just have to get a blond hairpiece, a skirt and bras Smiley. From now olympics will be more about lawyers and scientific teams than actual sports, I guess :/.
625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Chinese pumping dead coins! on: January 25, 2016, 09:15:14 AM
Guys, guys, chill out, it's not about chinese "investors" or great coin features. Chinese PDers often pumping dead or almost dead coins. They can buy these coins for peanuts and after a silent accumulation period thy can pump it to orbital heights, maybe together with some hype or announcing new devs, whatever.

Apart from the hype potential these guys don't give "a rats ass about" functionality of ETH or LTC, or whatever other coins. They are after good opportunities to make a decent profit and that's all. Don't be naive and think about them as investors. They are gamblers with shitloads of money what they want to multiply.
626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To remember WHY Litecoin is a good investment on: January 25, 2016, 09:00:04 AM
I think litecoins only USP was that it was number 2 crypto and it used to be the most liquid out of all the altcoins.  It was "silver to bitcoins gold".  You could tell because the logo they came up with was silver while bitcoin logo was gold.
It was also lucky to be the first altcoin.  Coming out just after bitcoin started getting popular.  It's what started the great shitcoin flood of 2014 PND anyone? Stablecoin??

Now that it is not only less volume than Ethereum but also less market cap it's become just another altcoin out of hundreds. It's value propped up by a few stubborn bagholders.  This coin is surely going the way of the dodo very quickly. As soon as china becomes fully aware of the new reality we live in.

The sensible thing to do for anyone holding litecoin would be to rapidly exchange it for ETH before your capital vanishes overnight.

Actually Tenebrix was the first altcoin.

Litecoin still have a huge userbase, and a good reputation. ETH have quite little userbase, the devs rushed it into service with a barely working infrastructure, it's reputation varying from "ICO scam from banksters" to "Holy Grail of crypto" and it will take time to settle all of these debates. ETH price is also greatly propped up by PDers as we seen for example last week.

BTW the currently low LTC price provides an excellent accumulation possibility for a later pump Smiley. When/if BTC price goes up around the halving I'd be very surprised if we wouldn't see some big LTC pumps as well.
627  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Chess forbidden in Islam, rules Saudi mufti, but issue not black and white on: January 24, 2016, 08:13:46 PM
They are "trained" and "advised" by people whose grasp of military procedure is very limited as has been very very very well demonstrated in one failed war adventure after the other. So, no surprises there.

Actually americans are good on training, tactics and strategy. Crappy politics and the dependence on unreliable local resources make them losing wars. It appears, US decision makers have no idea or viable plans about what to do when the army defeated the enemy.
628  Economy / Gambling / Re: What type of gambling has been more lucrative for you in the long term? on: January 23, 2016, 10:28:10 PM
Sports betting. That's not about pure luck, but about "educated guessing", with some unpredictable elements (actual performance on the given event) what makes it interesting. Actually I don't consider sports betting as gambling.
I've made a lot more on betting than on any other forms of gambling together.
629  Other / Politics & Society / Re: In what conditions would you convert to Islam? on: January 23, 2016, 10:13:26 PM
I'm not that martyr type, so I guess some "missionaries" with AKs and big knifes could persuade me to convert, but as soon as they left (or I left) two aspirin and a beer would easily cure that Smiley.
630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Method for Easy BTC on: January 23, 2016, 09:49:49 PM
I'd like to try it but FastDice is incredibly slow. Sometimes it can't even load. Maybe next time Smiley.
631  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Refugees claim ISIS militants living among them in Germany on: January 23, 2016, 09:38:20 PM
Merkel and her brain dead lot got tons of warnings, but they did nothing to prevent the infiltration of IS agents. Probably they have their own agenda and these extremists have a role in those plans. If they have no such agenda then they must be idiots.
632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Technology vs. Marketing. Which is more important? on: January 23, 2016, 08:47:35 PM
How do you measure the size of the community? By number of sockpuppet accounts posting in official threads?

A gut intuition based on reading quality comments in official threads?

Endorsement by Hero members?

No zero balances, rich list and checking out the coin's own forum (if there are any) usually give a relative good base for a rough but relevant estimation.

Quality comments are not good for this kind of "measurement", as miners and other people who intend to dump and quit are also used to ask meaningful questions, and also used to make quality remarks, however they are not part of the community (or only for a short time).

Hero endorsements are not very accurate in these days Smiley.
633  Economy / Speculation / Re: You guys need to relax on: January 23, 2016, 07:28:28 PM
Do you follow Bitcoin at all? Did you hear about a Core dev quitting & calling Bitcoin "a failed experiment"?
About the impending hard fork looming over us, because, as it turns out, consensus ain't such a sure thing to reach for our conductors, even when our choo choo is chooching into a brick wall?

FLY, YOU FOOLS!

Mike Hearn isn't a real "Core dev" with his two or something like that contribution, so nobody really give a dime about what he saying. In addition he's not saying anything new. All the problems what he addressed are well known issues. The hard fork issue is different indeed, but we'll see how that's panning out. Maybe Gavin will fail again, maybe not. Anyway, nobody will loose pre-fork coins because of the fork, if not intended to keep using the "loosing" chain.
634  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pentagon chief says some coalition partners in fight against Isis 'do nothing' on: January 23, 2016, 07:09:06 PM
Several members of the US-led coalition attacking the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria are doing “nothing at all” to help destroy the jihadists, US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter has said.

Surprise, surprise Smiley. ...and some other coalition members are doing even too much... but unfortunately on the other side Smiley.
635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum at 3rd place on coinmarketcap.com on: January 23, 2016, 07:04:24 PM
Where does everyone buy ethereum? Thanks in advance  Smiley

You can get it on nearly all exchanges. Of course try to use some of the more established exchanges, like Kraken, Poloniex or Bittrex.
636  Economy / Economics / Re: Trade house for 1 bitcoin on: January 23, 2016, 06:11:26 PM
Depends on where OP want to buy that house. In some less lucky parts of the word you can buy a "house" even today for 1 BTC. If you are thinking about the states or Europe the most likely never.
637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: TurboStake GIVEAWAY by JudgeDredd on: January 23, 2016, 06:02:44 PM
Be careful with your topic, giveaways are not allowed on this board. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434310.0).

You can advertise your giveaway here but you have do the actual thing somewhere else.
638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: can this be why btc price is drowning? on: January 23, 2016, 05:56:33 PM
https://forum.z.cash/

ive noticed one of bitcoin dev has launched Zcash thing coin. very cool forum template to be honest. but beside that there is nothing there.

i will never know because i won't click that creepy link.....

That seems to be a legit forum link. I've found the same link on the zcash blog.

To OP:

I don't think that this early alpha zcash (zerocoin) have too much impact on the current bitcoin prices.

639  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it a sin to gamble? on: January 23, 2016, 05:23:44 PM
Is gambling OK? Don't bet it! There's not an easy or instantly obvious proof text answer to that question.

According to muslim muftis yes, it's a sin. Other religions are a bit more liberal. They don't call it a sin but they definitely do not recommend gambling Smiley. Outside of religions most societies see gambling as a shady thing but it's largely depends on the success factor. Big wins can justify a gambling habit Smiley.
640  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hitler's world may not be so far away on: January 23, 2016, 05:17:11 PM
Things will get a little messy here. Various sources will give differing numbers, having varying levels of accuracy. The pro-Jewish sources, which would like to inflate the numbers would count even people with partial Jewish origin as Jews. On the other hand, some of the Jews might have identified themselves as either Hungarian or German in the census.

Yes, you are right e.g. Wikipedia is pretty funny on the numbers. You can find different numbers on almost every pages.
People with partial jewish origin is included in this number according to the Second Jewish Law (1939), so their self identification is irrelevant. (BTW the Third Jewish Law in 1941 classified further 20-25 people as jew, what isn't included in this number.)
