You should read ALL of the stickies, or pinned posts at the top of each
section. There are certain things you do need to know about posting.

Start with this one:

This thread would be better suited in the Alt coin section.

This mining section is ASIC miner/ hardware only. There is an option to
move the thread in the bottom left corner. Goodluck!!!
643  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolinminer & Whatsminer FAQs on: December 21, 2017, 06:09:09 AM
Dear folks,

Please be advised that pangolinminer M3 pre-order for Feb and March still has some units left.

Get 'em before they ran out..

ps. just realised that I've got promoted to Jr. Member today, no more newbie. hehe..

pps. took 30 days for this promotion  Cheesy

Their website appears to be down.

In addition, I filled out their "contact us" page yesterday asking for information, and have not heard back.  Not very promising.  Sad

I received a notification from them that the web site is down for maintenance.
Hopefully, they will be releasing info on a newer design as well.

So...  How can I go about placing an order with these folks, and what is the price?  They've not yet replied to the email I sent them...

When the website goes back online, take a look to see what options they have left.
Earlier, they had stock for the February ship out batch. This was a limited quantity.
They also had more for the March ship out batch at a higher quantity available.

The price was dependent on the batch, the sooner ones being higher priced. I believe
the March batch was the normal price, around $1,100usd. The payment is in BTC.

Also, check your spam folder. Mine sometimes end up in there.
644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: December 21, 2017, 02:00:39 AM
Is this program compatible with the Pangolinminer Whatsminer M3? Has anyone tried? I checked the list
on the FAQ page, and it just says most miners. Being it's a new miner on the mining scene, I haven't seen
many facts about software compatibility.  I searched through recent posts, and couldn't find anything.
I'd really like to purchase this software for when I'm away at my day job.

If not allowed I'll remove. Thanx!!!
I've received a number of requests about this miner, but no confirmations on reports on if it's working on not. If it's running cgminer software with an API, Awesome Miner will be able to monitor it.

You can use the Free Edition of Awesome Miner and simply try to connect it to this miner and give it a try.

The M3 does use the cgminer software and api, based on the review on the forums.
Many thanks for your answer on this. If the API is compatible with cgminer, it should work out-of-the-box with Awesome Miner.

Awesomeness!!! Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely going to try it when I get everything set up. I'm very excited
to try awesome miner! Great Job on the work done there!
645  Other / Meta / Re: Number of my posts on: December 20, 2017, 09:22:07 PM
Hello everyone.

My number of posts which is shown in my profile summary is always one less than my posts which are shown in my posts list in "show the last posts of this person" section.

Any one knows why is that?

It could be, one of your posts were removed by an admin or a moderator.
If they see a post that does not meet the standard criteria of a specific topic,
they sometimes remove the post. Usually the removed post is accompanied
by a pm that tells you why. If you didn't receive a pm about a post removal,
they could have removed an entire thread that you posted in. When an entire
thread is removed, you would not receive a pm. Unless you created the thread.

Newer design eh?  Still waiting on 11 M3's!  Was there an announcement I missed?

Hopefully, they will be releasing info on a newer design as well.

I was just throwing out an optimistic thought. There was no announcement.
All of their competitors are releasing updates, It'd be nice if they did some tweaking
as well. There's not much more you could squeeze out of 28nm, but they might.

I'm waiting on 2 units myself.

I know these come loaded with cgminer. Is this version compatible with management/monitoring
software such as, Awesome miner or Minera? Has anyone had any experience with this?
I know cgminer has some extras, but I'm not sure if the version on this miner is the full version.

651  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: December 19, 2017, 06:11:28 PM
Does anyone know if these A8 can comingle on the same controller as A741 or do they need their own?
The only difference between these miners appears to be the number of chips on each hash board.
(With exception of the A8 integrated power supply)

I don't believe the A8 model has an integrated power supply.  The last Chinese-only version of the A7 apparently did, but I don't see the same verbiage in the description of the A8.  Feel free to correct me.

I'm not 100% if it's integrated or not. There was some speculation about it last week. I threw that in because that's the only difference
I've seen between the models, besides the number of chips per hash board. I was making a point about them sharing the same controller.
652  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolinminer & Whatsminer FAQs on: December 19, 2017, 03:18:17 PM
that power consumption seems a bit high...... what do you guys think?

Compared to other miners....Yes. It is rather high, but they perform very well from what I've seen.
I just ordered 2 of the M3's about a week ago. It will not kill me on electricity, but I'd like it to be lower.
I'm hoping that eventually, someone with the skill can "jailbreak" the program to give access to the
voltages. Turning them down just a notch could really help.

So....if you don't pay a lot of electricity, these are still a good option.

Edit: They will be taking orders on 12/20/17 for Current, Feb and March stock.
653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Breaking the Ground Loop on a Riser on: December 19, 2017, 11:47:15 AM
Try moving this thread to the Altcoin mining section:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=160.0

This area is Bitcoin mining only. No GPU info located here.

Goodluck!!!
654  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: December 19, 2017, 11:43:37 AM
Does anyone know if these A8 can comingle on the same controller as A741 or do they need their own?

From their official site:

"By connecting our AvalonMiner Controller (sold separately) to a single AUC3 (AvalonMiner USB Convertor 3), you may connect five AvalonMiners. For maximum usage, you may connect the AvalonMiner Controller to 4 AUC3 devices which may each connect to 5 AvalonMiners for a total simultaneous management of twenty AvalonMiner 821 to reach 220 TH/s (RTHS)."

With that, I'd say yes. I would think there will not be a new controller, but they might do an update on the firmware eventually.

Edit: Being this is the same controller for the whole line of new AvalonMiners, I'd believe they can "comingle".

The only difference between these miners appears to be the number of chips on each hash board.
(With exception of the A8 integrated power supply)
655  Other / Meta / Re: How to keep track of discussions on threads? on: December 18, 2017, 07:55:18 PM
I've been participating in some discussions on some threads and would like to keep track of those discussions. When I click on "Show new replies to your posts", I discover that the poats would index the messages from the beginning of the thread.
I was wondering if there is any way to go directly to where my post is and continue reading from there rather than setting to read the thread from the beginning. I'll appreciate if any one knows this.

Sorry for my bad communication Wink

I don't know if it will help, but give this a read:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=90136.0

Personally, when I go to the "show new replies" , I check the page number instead of the link itself.
By doing this I go to the newest page or whatever on I want. Goodluck!!!
656  Other / Meta / Re: Is this forum still relevant? on: December 18, 2017, 06:32:13 PM
Other than the developers section and marketplace what's really going on here?

This forum is only as relevant as the user lets it be. As people we are creatures of habit, and we tend
not to look further than our comfort zones. If a person was to join a forum with DROVES of information,
and just wonder aimlessly through a couple sections, they are setting on their own hands.

Anyone can start here, and research any spectrum of the cryto currency world. Most of the KEY educational
benefits can be found here within an hour. We need to take off the GET RICH QUICK blinders to see that.
Just like this forum, Life is what we make of it. You've gotta take the lead and learn as much as you can!
657  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) WhatsMiner M3 11.5 Th/s, 2000W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: December 18, 2017, 01:54:23 PM
Just a heads up. They will be taking orders 12/20/17 for Current, Feb, and March.Get em while you can! Goodluck!!!

Which 1070 Nvidia cards are good for mining. How can we rank it
Help required

GPU's are no longer used in BTC mining. They have been replaced with ASIC miners.
Below is a link to the ALT coin mining section, where GPU's are more common place and used.
If you can move the thread there, I'm sure someone can help answer your questions.
Goodluck!!!

659  Other / Meta / Re: This section is a mess. on: December 17, 2017, 07:05:03 PM

While it's calmed down as of late, it was to a point where nearly every second thread was 'my account is hacked'. I proposed that these threads get moved to a separate sub-board so that:
  • The Staff could find them easier,
  • The threads wouldn't get buried under other matters that fall under Meta,
  • The Meta sub-board wasn't full of 'my account is hacked' threads.

This is a Great idea!!! Personally, I think my issues got resolved so quickly, because of being near the top,
and fresh on peoples minds. Admins or Mods NOT having TIME to find them is a BIG part of them going unresolved.
I know that I'm just a nobody, but if there is anything that I can do to Help, Please let me know.

And this is a longshot but:

As far as the spam/crap posts; Most of them seem to be people trying to make money (not cryto currency) off
the ads from campaigns. Maybe implementing some restrictions on these campaign companies, would deter the companies
from giving any permissions to Brand New members and members who DO NOT contribute. It seems that this forum is
turning into a GIANT AD CAMPAIGN. I'm sure there is some sort of kickback from the companies to the forum, but is that
kickback big enough to help the forum from being bogged down the way it is?

The hacking of accounts directly correlates back to this very issue. Hacking a high seniority account opens up more privileges
for posting adds and carrying a Pic/Banner. Also, why does the forum allow accounts that have been bought? These are more
than likely accounts that have been hacked. And if they are not, they are bought by add spammers specifically for the privileges.

660  Other / Meta / Re: I'm a returning user, but my original account was stolen. on: December 17, 2017, 02:26:37 AM
You need to follow these steps in this thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

Try to find some old posts from before it was hacked where you posted
your BTC address. You'll need one to prove you are the owner of the address.
(use the search feature)
