It is clear now that bytecoin is here to stay because of the many benefits it brings to the cryptocoin users. Now it needs your support! What support are you looking for, specifically?

MtGox starts trading Litecoin soon. There is an endless line of customers newbies fools waiting to start trading on MtGox throw money at us miners. They don't care whether it's Bitcoin or Litecoin or Shitecoin - as long as it's Somecoin.
Why is this the general impression I get from the people surrounding Feathercoin, they only care about the fiat money that could be earned. While people supporting BTC and LTC do it because they believe in it as a currency and not a get rich scheme. You call people who buy a cryptocurrencie fools? I honestly think that the best way to help Bitcoin and the whole cryptocurrency movement in general is to build a profitable business in it. Profit is your measure of whether you are helping or not.

The coin formerly known as FC is now called FTC Just what we needed in the cryptocoin community: a Federal Trade Commission.

Why? I don't know. But I sure have the attention of all those Alt-Coin haters now No one forces you to buy a specific Alt-Coin. No one forces you to sell a specific Alt-Coin. If you don't like a coin, just stay out. What's the problem? If you like a coin, promote it. The Feathercoin guys are doing a great job promoting their coin. Compared to them the Litecoin, Terracoin, ... flock seems to be pretty lazy. If you like companies like BFL (that will deliver your miner in 2015) or Avalon (that charge you an arm and a leg) then buy their ASICs and mine Bitcoin. If you wanna teach those fuckers a lesson, then vote with your wallet and don't buy their crap. Keep your GPUs (and buy new GPUs) and mine Litecoin & Feathercoin.MtGox starts trading Litecoin soon. There is an endless line of customers newbies fools waiting to start trading on MtGox throw money at us miners. They don't care whether it's Bitcoin or Litecoin or Shitecoin - as long as it's Somecoin. I like this post. I probably don't agree with every detail in it, but I really like the sentiment.

Which kind of brings us back to the beginning. What is the goal now? It seems to me a lot of alt-coins are trying to improve on bitcoin or make it easier to use (by introducing quicker confirmations, etc...) Since the testnet is bitcoin (with a few tests thrown in ), why not... just use bitcoin? Is your goal simply to create an economy that uses testnet coins? And for that wouldn't you need an exchange first and foremost? I'll take testnet bitcoin exchange orders on RBCex. What is RBCex? RBCex is my little exchange: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=172373.0http://goo.gl/ON5Jb

PS: Thank you for the donation Who says it was me?

If this is true (I can't find that transaction) There's no source for the allegation, and it seems technologically impossible. I see no need for anyone to respond. I could tweet that Bitcoin kills kittens, too; it wouldn't mean that everyone is going to abandon Bitcoin if the devs don't issue an official response.

I also like how they call feathercoin FTH. So which abreviation is it, FC, FTC, or FTH? Note to self: do not hardcode a dependency on currency symbols being 3 characters long...

As conclusion of that thought, why is FTC pumped as hell and a coin like BTE is going down? Shouldn't the community go for ASIC friendly coins that the big players will jump on to increase the markets? Yes, I think so, too. Look for BTE to go up in the next 1-2 years.

Coins from various testnets.

I don't know if I've found a bug, or if you're just keeping some data out for privacy:
If I plug this transaction ID into bytecoin chain search:
9a450a3d2c252d18f058dc78321cc3ec872668ed7230b8cd5a862b95e7568f79
I see 10.0 BTE that went to 8KavvVegRXmYRUetYEEA1rMCrLjuZzmyrg (your BTE donation address).
But if I plug that address into search, I have been consistently getting "not found" for days.
This never worked until I searched by transaction ID.
Caching issue?

Also trusting vircurex/btc-e isn't so easy. I have built a lot of trust in Vircurex over the last few months. They have impressively weathered some storms, and apparently done right by their users every time.

Hi. Exchange looks nice! Could you please change BBQ to BQC? This is the official abbreviation that is used inside the client.
I vote for changing it to BBQ.

I will feel like we won. Long before that point, business cycles and the destruction and misery they cause would have been eliminated. It probably won't completely be paradise, but it may be as close as humanity can ever get.

Another interesting thing to note: Terracoin has a testnet, too.
I thought about that. So does Litecoin (although I didn't manage to get it running oddly enough- no connections? No one's on it?). Actually all the clones should have a testnet, but Bitcoin testnet is a lonely enough place so far. :-) I figured Litecoin probably had one. There is a dev on terracointalk.org who has been trying to promote Terracoin testnet, even at one point offering a bounty for an exchange. I doubt any other altcoins have a testnet, but I'd love to find out. I can testify that Bytecoin does not have a testnet.

Now there isn't this problem- you can easily run your own testnet. I agree with your reasoning, and I don't believe it's a problem today. However, I suspect that it is still taboo in a lot of minds. Additionally, if there is no economy for testnet, then there are a lot of things you actually cant test- like an exchange, or gambling apps or who-knows-what. Very true!

If you sell testnet bitcoins, or mine them with any appreciable hashing power, there are people who will be mad. I personally haven't seen why I should care, though. And I have considered putting them up for exchange. It would be very interesting to see a market price for testnet bitcoins. So, what the hey - I already announced support for "CRC" on RBCex. Anyone wants to place orders for testnet bitcoins on RBCex; I'd love to list your order.
