Yes he/she is very friendly, but don't answer to the question, how we are helping the tor-network.
Or am I to stupid to understand the answers ? ...

I would assume that it is because the wallet is configured to act as a Tor relay.

This would be a scandal, it should not be difficult to check this, with a network monitoring tool.
Dev said severral times, that the wallet is not acting as an exit node, if I have time, I will study the program a little bit more.

I don't know what your technical background is, but you should probably know that a Tor relay is not the same as an exit node. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Running a relay is perfectly fine and supports the network, running an exit node is risky and is usually done by big institutions.

Maybe you can explain why Insane is in Cryptopia and Espers no. Dev said many times he have personally problems whith Cryptopia team. So why Insane was added?!!!

I don't know for sure. There are two possibilities:

1) Nobody has asked them (again) to list ESP, yet.
2) They have their own reasons. In that case, ask the Cryptopia admin.

Thank you.

I am running always (I thought) the latest version on an VPS and got not stakes.

v0.8.6.6-Patch 0 Alpha give stakes.

As you probably know, it largely depends on the amount you have. If it says staking, everything is working fine (as good as it currently does). I am staking fine with the newest code from Github, but the newest released wallet (0.8.6.7) should work as well. I have no idea why it wouldn't, sorry. Maybe try to debug it yourself by looking at the debug.log?

For some of you who might not have noticed, the first half of the upcoming update is already pushed on Github. The release is still pending to not have "partial" releases (which might be debatable).

Hi!

Could you please point this out?

https://github.com/CryptoCoderz/Espers

For sure. The latest released wallet is version 0.8.6.7-Patch-0 from June 15. The unreleased partial fix on Github is called v0.8.6.8 Patch-0 Update-0 which was pushed 11 days ago and has the following changelog:

Changelog
- added PoW/PoS skew curve
- patched VRX and current skew
- updated labels
- version bump
- corrected retarget debug log print functionality
- further source cleanup
- more updates to follow for PoS modifications

As you can see, the PoW/PoS balance is already fixed, and the fix of the PoS reward system is mentioned here for the second part of the upcoming update, which is what he is currently working on.

It is time for@cryptocoderz to stop whith his promisses. He dont released anything what he said. He cant handle alone whith this project. Marketing is bad. Communication full of lies. And 5 coins revived by him are all dead. In slack channel they talk about shit. Vacation or bbq. Members unsatisfied here, discord channel and slack. And Dev keep sleeping . Sleep well bro.

I would like to say some words here. I can understand that many people who have not been as long with this project are frustrated with the low amount of communication and slow progress. But I know from my own work that quality takes time. Cryptocoderz is one of the most friendly and honest devs I know, he would never scam or make profit from harming other people. He's the kind of guy who gives away his own money to help other people. Unfortunately he also has his own life of course, and may not always be available. He has already understood the problem of making forecasts about future updates that turned out to be inaccurate because unforeseen problems, and has agreed to not make any specific announcement dates any more until things get released.

For some of you who might not have noticed, the first half of the upcoming update is already pushed on Github. The release is still pending to not have "partial" releases (which might be debatable).

He's not checking out this forum very often specifically because of the unproductive discussions that take place here.

I would agree that having one or two more "core devs" would help a lot. The importance of marketing and exchanges is debatable IMO. The problem with finding more devs is that it is difficult to find people who really know what they're doing, and also want to join the project. There are not so many competent cryptocurrency devs nowadays, who don't already have their own project. If you want to contribute, I'm sure you will be welcomed. There have been other people joining the project who have experience in Qt design, website design, android UIs etc. Educated blockchain devs are more difficult to find. Jon Zaretsky (Cryptocoderz) is certainly one of them.

The other projects on the Cryptocoderz website are external projects that the team has made maintenance contracts with to do the actual coding. If the projects are dead, it's not Cryptocoderz fault, but the owner's of the specific project.

We need exposure for success and high volume exchanges like bittrex and poloniex certainly helps.
My opinion is on the assumption that we already have a great dev team !

Yes we do. But how does exposure help them developing the software?
667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡[ANN]⚡ ▐░Espers [ESP]░▌▐░PoW/PoS░▌▐░HMQ1725 Algo░▌ ▐░New Features░▌ on: July 19, 2017, 08:19:45 PM
Any news on bittrex listing?
We need to get on some high volume exchanges to succeed.

I can guarantee you that you will be informed as soon as the team has received any kind of news about a possible listing on Bittrex.

Succeed in which terms? Increase price? Adding more volume does not always increase the price. Many coins have fallen in price after being added to Bittrex. The only thing that may have an effect is the trust added to the project by being listed on a big exchange.

What actually makes this project succeed are the developers. With a software that has a very big user base (i.e. it is useful to begin with), the volume will increase on the existing exchanges until big exchanges add it for their own interest. So the root of everything, and the only thing that truly matters for increasing the price, is developing great software. That's what has been happening all the time!  Smiley If you want to get rich, you have to wait until the software has reached great usefulness. That's the most intelligent way to invest IMO. Do not make yourself depend on the ups and downs of the price, while the software is still in early stage. If you want to make huge profit, you need to be patient. Everything else is purely speculative.

Last year I have mined around 500,000 ESP1 (Before the hardfork)

Today while I was checking, I found that ESP1 holds no significant value and I am wondering if I can claim any ESP2 from the ESP1 I am currently holding.

I am under the impression that when hardforks happen, I would be holding both coins... But not sure what I should do to get my ESP2

Looking for help on this.

Thanks (Will offer a donation for any help)

ESP2 is not a hardfork, but a 10:1 swap to a new chain for technical reasons. Swap ended around October 2016.

wallet showed synchronizing with the network 3 weeks out, doesn't seem to move after long time. Also shows wallet is offline. I can't seem to get it to stake.
Looking forward to a new wallet for a while! Any new word on that and master nodes?

Take a look at the wallet syncing guide in my signature. Masternodes are not being implemented yet, they're on the roadmap. Nothing has changed on that regard since yesterday when I last answered this question.  Roll Eyes

Cryptopia would be great actually ! Any plans for that ?
No plan. I want too but Dev team dont want Cryptopia.

Actually, it's more complicated than that. It's not like devs don't want Espers to be listed there. It's just that the Cryptopia owner has something against Espers devs personally. So they don't want to deal with them any longer. Someone else can ask Cryptopia to list Espers though, listing coins on exchanges is more the responsibility of the community than dev's.

Does anyone have the compiled version of cpuminer-hmq1725-windows? I am unable to compile it on my pc for some strange reason, Thanks.

"Strange reasons" are very common when compiling software Wink You can find the link to the precompiled binary on the first page of this thread.

I want to say that i really like this coin, but i'm really missing this important feature:
Fully encrypted wallet :
-At the moment everybody who has access to your device can see all your transactions without a need for a password Roll Eyes
-monero,bytecoin, zcash etc. have this.

Is it possible to do this?

You could maybe make a new Github issue as a feature request: https://github.com/spectrecoin/spectre

I'm sure it is possible and will be implemented when enough people are interested in that. Alternatively you could encrypt your hard disk or put the data directory of the wallet inside an encrypted container.

My wallet is taking a very long time to sync.
Any work being done on making it faster?
That would be a very useful feature.
Yes it's on the todo list of CryptoCoderz.  Wink

Hi, can someone answer the following:
What are the requirements to set up a masternode?
How many coins are required? Is there any tutorial please
Besides what gain do the masternodes get by day?

Thanks in advance for your answers

Masternodes (or xNodes for Espers) are not implemented yet. They're on the roadmap for end of 2017 / early 2018. None of your questions can be answered therefore.

One small doubt I'd appreciate if you could answer:

- Do the active connections to the Espers network influentiate the staking? The most I've ever had is 1 active connection, always.

No the number of active connections does not influence your staking probability, although 1 connection is a bit low  Wink If your only connection drops while it's your turn, you will miss the stake. Take a look at the wallet syncing guide in my signature.

Proving your stake requires you to sign transactions, for signing you need your private key. When encrypting or "locking" your wallet, the private keys are encrypted, so that doesn't work.  Wink Makes sense?

How can I sign  a transaction and how do I acquire the private key?

All of that happens automatically, you have nothing to do. You can read how the original PPCoin PoS system works here: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/what-proof-of-stake-is-and-why-it-matters-1377531463/ Your wallet will do all of these things on its own if online.

So for staking you gotta connect the wallet online 24/7? Theres no certain days of the week for stakes?

Every block could be your block so you don't want to miss it.

I've locked my wallet yesterday.

When I watch the "Generate Tab" I see PoS "Not Staking".

Weight: 1% Me 99% Network.

Any ideas?

To stake you have to UNLOCK the wallet and see this

But others said that in order to stake, I need to lock it..  Shocked

Some people here kept spreading that in order to stake, you need to encrypt your wallet and then unlock it ... which is nonsense of course, you don't need to encrypt your wallet, and if you do, you have to unlock it in order to stake. Proving your stake requires you to sign transactions, for signing you need your private key. When encrypting or "locking" your wallet, the private keys are encrypted, so that doesn't work.  Wink Makes sense?

When you have the default settings, nothing else is needed ... keep your wallet online. Depending on your balance, you might stake between once a year and once a minute. The frequency is more or less proportional to your balance. The time to wait to get a reward will be fixed with the upcoming update to the wallet.

It is the number of the BEAST that Espers will be.
676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XSPEC] Spectrecoin | Untraceable Tx | Ring Signatures | Tor Integration on: July 14, 2017, 05:28:44 PM
Why did the moderators mess with the signature post? Are we not allowed to have signatures posted?

I have never seen that being a problem before. Just ask mprep about it. Normally you are getting a message that contains the reason for the deletion.
677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XSPEC] Spectrecoin | Untraceable Tx | Ring Signatures | Tor Integration on: July 14, 2017, 04:47:28 AM
Perhaps the POS rewards should be modified to have 4% or 4.5% as is, and .5 or 1% go into a development fund? This would help sustain the project long term.
very nice idea

It's an interesting idea, but has some bad taste to it IMO ... it's not how a "currency" should work. I don't think devs will do it. The current plan is to let people fund the development of specific features that they want most, which is an even better idea IMO!  Wink Personally I would donate even more than 5% of my funds per year to fund development. This way, it is guaranteed that the devs work for the money they get, and develop things that are actually useful and wanted by the community.
678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DeepOnion - Unmoderated thread on: July 13, 2017, 09:18:53 PM
I think this is the best observation, this is also what I am thinking, but you know what people thinks, if its an airdrop, then they have nothing to lose. which isn't good at all.

Starting to sound like TorCoin. Anonymity and scams seem to go hand in hand. Which sucks, because I am a huge privacy advocate. I think people lure groups into coins under the guise of anonymity and ultimately it ends up being a scam. Not saying this is the case with DeepOnion, but I am cautious at this point.

I don't usually advertise projects I'm involved with in other threads like this one, but since this is directly related to your question ... the Spectrecoin project linked in my first post above is a good one, and the coins are already fully distributed. I'm having close relationships with the main dev and other active community members. It's having the same Tor integration that DeepOnion has, and devs are currently re-organizing to make the project progress at a faster pace and be more open and transparent. Spectre is probably the best alternative to this one so far, in terms of technology.

Tbh. I only found DeepOnion by looking for competitors to Spectre in the anon space  Wink But as it seems this one is not a serious competitor...

What's leaving me - at least - astonished is the roadmap of DeepOnion.

Q3 2017: Pre-announcement and launch till paperwallet

Only 12 month later, Q2 2018:

- More Exchanges trade-able for ONIONs
- More Shopping Sites accepting ONIONs
- ONION accepted Games

Very ambitious. Especially, because it is quite hard to predict - with an exact date - what other people will do: Implement this coin to their shopping sites, their exchanges, their games...
But this is only a (my personally felt) peak of iceberg in this roadmap.

I don't think that is too ambitious. "More" doesn't have to mean anything significant. You can make some small shop site selling your own product and make it accept your coin ... no magic needed.  Wink  More exchanges is also very vague ... more than what? Than now? Not difficult as there are no exchanges yet.  Cheesy

I wish the devs luck and would be pleased, if some of them would enter here to answer the serious questions, starting with Gandalf86 first post. A good and serious project would do that.

A good and serious project would not abuse his moderation abilities and delete reasonable questions like the ones above. That's a much bigger problem than having an "a bit too ambitious" roadmap IMO. I linked this thread in the main thread after creating it, but it got deleted within 1 minute.
679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DeepOnion - Unmoderated thread on: July 13, 2017, 06:31:02 PM
I think questions about algo (X13) and pre-mine (90%) have already been answered in the main thread by now.

The distribution scheme is ridiculous though and screams Ponzi IMO. Need to change my avatar and signature for as long as 40 weeks (9 months!) in order to get the full airdrop? No way!  Grin And you can't even sell your funds until then (like Mr. Ponzi did it). But the dev has 30% and can sell it immediately.

Such a "slow airdrop" is ridiculous in general because the dev can throw all the remaining funds he has on the market whenever he wants, i.e. when the price is high enough, and run away with it. The only way this can not happen is when the airdrop is immediately, within a few days, and only afterwards the coin gains value because it is not centrally controlled any more.

The same could have been accomplished by having very high POS rewards within those 40 weeks, but without the funds being controlled by one person in the meanwhile. Therefore owning the majority of all coins must be part of his plan...
680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / DeepOnion - Unmoderated thread on: July 12, 2017, 12:57:03 PM
I would like to start a new, unmoderated ANN thread for DeepOnion: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2006010.0

The author seems to be heavily censoring this "Free Airdrop" ANN thread and not providing answers to critical questions, but instead deleting them. Here are some of those questions that will be critical:

  • What is the pre-mine? Giving the coins away in an airdrop might be a good excuse for having an unreasonably high pre-mine.
  • What are essential differences to other coins that also have native Tor integration, such as Spectrecoin? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1704473.0;topicseen)
  • Why is he censoring so much?? That's not a good sign IMO.

Feel free to post any questions or thoughts here that got censored in the main thread.
