the bundesliga match between mainz 05 and borussia dortmund was cancelled today.
13 mainz 05 players are infected with the corona virus.
The match will be rescheduled for Wednesday 16 March 2022 at 06.30 PM.

Very interesting news, for some time I did not hear anything like this and thought that all these games are already in the past. I see in the news that antiviral emergency measures are being actively canceled all over the world and it seems like everything should return to normal. I would like to know how the players of Mainz 05 endure the disease - are they really sick or is this outbreak just the result of crooked testing.

see this,
Mainz vs Dortmund postponed to 16 March

Actually, the count of coronavirus infected people is 19. 13 of them are players. Absolutely have no idea why or how this happened.
Probably because of some stupid neglecting the safety rules. Hope proper caution will be taken.

Kohli should forget about nepotism or favoritism and concentrate on his own game and try to upgrade it. Otherwise, he might be thrown out of the team as well.
I disagree. I don't think the BCCI will ever throw a legend like Kohli out even though he has been under-performing for a long time now primarily because of his experience and his batting skills.
Weird thing is that another legendary batsman(Smith) has also been under-performing for sometime. Both of them need to recover their form quickly.

Both of them are the best batsmen in the whole cricketing world. It would be a pleasure for anyone to see them back in form again and score runs like they did. Even though I think Virat Kohli might be under a little bit of pressure he should not be removed from the team.

Kohli has many BCCI representative who are a fantastic admirer of his batting and his commitment to Indian cricket. Those individuals are trying their level best for him to stay within the team as he can only break all those records created by Sachin. Dehli cricket board and Mumbai cricket board have always been against each other. If I am correct Madanlal the chief selector is from the Delhi cricket board. He will always select him into the Indian side no matter how he performs. Those admirers will always use his past performance as an example for him to stay in the team. UP cricket board will do same as they cannot exist without Delhi. Rohit Sharma the Indian captain comes from UP.

Well in that case Virat Kohli should not have any problem staying in the team. But what I meant was he really needs to forget about all these things and get his head back into the game. Because you know, all these things can be quite distracting.
683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 03, 2022, 11:41:56 AM
Indian team is facing some turbulence after Virat Kohli was kicked out for nepotism and favoritism. The entire team is divided in to two camps - one supporting Kohli and the other that doesn't. The Kohli camp is trying hard to protect the players in their camp. For example, Hardik Pandya was persisted in the team for many years despite not performing up to the mark. Players like Venkatesh Iyer, drafted in as the replacement for Hardik are not given enough chances to showcase their skills. All this is having an impact on the performance.
Rather than nepotism and favouritism, the team is full of politics. This is common with Indian team, earlier it was with Dhoni. In particular how this politics is being made is from the senior players. The senior players used to give pressure to the board that one player from their association must be there in the team. This means from Mumbai Cricket Association there needs to be a player, whether he performs or not is secondary. This is how the board seems to operate.
This is main strong point with current Indian team now they have very good finances system and just because of this politics is also had too much influence in this all and every one want to go with his own ego and policies which is hurting very badly them in last few years. Dhoni and now Virat Kohli both done very good jobs, but both were doing some own favoritism as well, but this is not going to stop because most management is coming from political background, and they like to have their own peoples in system which need many bad and good selections as well.
Right now tough competition is between Maharashtra and Bengal because these factors are had very big influence and these both were agreed for Kohli but now these both require their own choices which is not easy with just 11 players to be in team if they are not able to settle this all then surely they are going to have very bad impact in overall in near future.

Kohli should forget about nepotism or favoritism and concentrate on his own game and try to upgrade it. Otherwise, he might be thrown out of the team as well.

Doesn't matter that he is the best player in the world. If we cannot perform he is of no use to the team. And these certain problems have to be solved because otherwise as you said it's going to have a really bad effect on the team. A lot of good and potential players are going to be in danger.

With current table positions and future programs looks not good for titleholder New Zealand to defend their title they already lost very crucial points against South Africa and Bangladesh now their future series are also very tough so with this all I am feeling right now Australia and India are two very strong contenders for future final because right now just these two teams are capable to give very results in all conditions even India is currently having some concerns after opt out of Pujara and Rahane but still they are very strong and capable of having wins against all teams in any conditions.
South Africa is also not bad at all, but they need some good time for having better results, their win against New Zealand was very impressive.

I will say that I am quite sure about Australia because they have been quite impressive. But, I am in a dilemma between India and South Africa because I think India is better but they have certainly faced some problems recently. And South Africa has played quite well recently but they don't have a good record in away conditions. And I think we all are almost certain that New Zealand is going to lose their title this time.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 03, 2022, 10:32:27 AM
Newzealand is obviously going to have a really hard time defending their title and I don't see them being successful doing it. Because they have had a really bad start.

I thought Australia has a good chance but they have lots of games in sub-continent and away conditions and I don't see them doing too good in certain situations.
New Zealand will most probably not retain the championship this time around and I don't think India will win it either. My bet is on Australia to win the championship since they are on a roll winning trophies across all formats these days.

India seems to be a good choice for picking to be in the finals again. I am really hopeful about South Africa though, they have shown good performance and also a really strong test side.
I don't think that they are a strong test side to be honest. South Africa has been performing well in home conditions, but they haven't improved much in away conditions though.

South Africa actually has a far better performance in the home condition than away conditions. The win percentage of South Africa in test matches in away conditions from 2019-2022 is almost 50%. So, they certainly need to upgrade their game in away conditions. But in the home conditions, they are quite good already.

Not just hard but close to zero chances for them.

This is current report for all the series.

NZ - 1 home series (SL)  and 2 away series (ENG + PAK). Eng hit the rock bottom but i think they will do okay from here. They need a miracle.

India's chances doesn't look good because they need to win majority of their remaining games, even draw matches can ruin their chances but i would be very happy if proven wrong. (point system based on win %)

Newzealand certainly seems to have not much of a chance. They also did not perform well up to the expectations of many people.
India is going to be motivated but it looks really hard to win that much. I think this team can lose a match just by being a little unlucky and that could easily be the case for India. Australia and South Africa have the most chances in my opinion.

@JSRAW I’m frankly quiet surprised to see that NZ has very less chance of defending their title, but not surprised to see team India among the favourites to reach the finals. Also a key thing to consider here is that team India has dropped two non performing player’s, and this could either work for them or could be wrong move as those player’s could have played better in the home conditions what do you think of team India’s decision?.

I think that India took the right decision because if a player is not performing at his best, he is rested and the player who is showing potential is given the chance. It's better to make some changes than to wait and hope for the player to perform better. So, I think this is obviously a positive change for India.

No problem whatsoever with them winning the WTC title but if we look at closely without any bias then all system looks dodgy, having said that rules are same for every team. Some got better deal out of it and some missed out the opportunity so its part of the game.

I doubt if NZ is going to qualify in this cycle, they already played 3 series and won only 2 matches. The best they can do is play spoiler role for other parties.

SA should fancy there chances for the finals as they bring their A game against Australia (another tough series). Pak is in strong position as they are playing in subcontinent only. Aus also looking strong but they are facing Pak, Ind and India in subcontinent, which is not easy task. SL could also surprise us if they successfully draw the upcoming series against India. India need to play quality cricket and win most of their remaining fixture (7 out of 9) if they want to play finals again.

Newzealand is obviously going to have a really hard time defending their title and I don't see them being successful doing it. Because they have had a really bad start.

I thought Australia has a good chance but they have lots of games in sub-continent and away conditions and I don't see them doing too good in certain situations.

With Inter current form, not much to be expected, their opponent is a club that is in excellent form every game. So it's clear that Liverpool will be very ready to face Inter later in Leg 2. This may be the result will not be much different, it's just that we might want to keep seeing a tight match from Inter. At least give the best even in unfavorable circumstances.
Liverpool in their own league look so strong this year too so clearly the performance in the UCL looks better and if the opponent is Inter Milan then in general Liverpool are a club that is very ready to win the match in the second leg later and even worse results could be just happened to Inter Milan in the second leg.
After swallowing the bitter pill in the first leg when they were beaten 0-2 by Liverpool in front of their own supporters, Inter Milan had to win three goals without reply in the second leg to qualify for the next round. Of course Liverpool will not let Inter Milan party at their home, Jurgen Klopp will instruct his men not to be carried away by the positive results they get at the Giuseppe Meazza. Their work is not done yet, Liverpool still has 90 minutes to ensure they qualify for the Quarter Finals.

I don't think that Liverpool is going to take things any easier just because they have a two-goal lead. I think they will also go for the win in the second leg. And ensure that they qualify to the quarter-finals. Now their opponent has some thinking to do as they need to decide whether to try to win against Liverpool or concentrate in the local league matches because, to be honest, they have a better chance in their own League instead of winning against Liverpool.

I don't think they need to think about the distant matches, it's better that they focus on the closest matches. Because, if they think about a distant match, they will be burdened with it.
I hope Ralf Rangnick can rotate players to reduce their physical risk. Yes although it's risky because it's a big game. But it's not wrong if you want to try a new strategy, and hope that the players who are given the opportunity to perform optimally.
I personally feel that the home advantage should help Manchester United win this match, but Ralf will need to get his tactics right for the game. Furthermore I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped Ronaldo for this match, and yes he’ll be heavily criticised for it, but I feel that he should take this gamble as it’s clear that he’s not happy with Ronaldo’s performances.
Although Manchester United has the opportunity to win this match because they are the host, Atletico Madrid will not let that happen, because I think Manchester United's game is predictable and inconsistent which Atletico Madrid will take advantage of.
In the second leg it will be a tough task for Ralf Rangnick to manage players and strategies that have not been satisfactory because in the EPL against the bottom team only able to play a draw, Atletico Madrid's game is very aggressive and also fast and that is something that must be considered.

Well, Manchester United is going to have some advantage obviously because it is their home match but the problem is they are not playing at their best right now. They have been really inconsistent all throughout the season. Basically, they have not shown the performance that can give us the confidence to say that they are going to win against Atletico Madrid. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid has also not been in the best of form. But they have been better than Manchester United in my opinion.

After losing points in 6 matches, the Atalanta team has won one match. And they won by dominating 90 minutes. Their performance was very good. Attacked a lot and managed to score 4 goals.
After losing Atlanta form, many thought that Juventus would now be fourth in the table. Atlanta may not qualify for the Champions League. But Atlanta is ready to continue fighting. It is also becoming difficult for Juventus to qualify for the Champions League.

look, this may have some surprises in store for us (luckily)
such a fight will make the matches and the championship much more interesting, as a fan I hope that Atalanta will be able to enter, otherwise we will try again next year.

Atalanta played really well in their last match, I really think that they still have chances to go past Juventus in the points table and achieve the fourth spot. But for that, they have to pray that Juventus lose. But they are not going to achieve that if they perform like they were doing, they need to start meaning and stop dropping points. They also need to get the three points from the match that they have in their hand to get closer to Juventus.

Although I'm sure Mbappe will move to Real Madrid, but will he stay? There's not a lot of buzz around the situation now and it's as if it's all gone quiet... Recently saw a rumour that Zidane was persuaded to move to PSG as head coach and he pulled Ronaldo behind him. Yeah, sounds like absolute nonsense, but there are some coincidences there
In Mbappe's mind, the Paris adventure seems to be over. Manchester City will be able to give the money Mbappe wants outside of Paris, but like everyone else, I hear that Mbappe wants to play in Real Madrid. He'll definitely get some reduction in his salary. Mbappe and Haaland will be the two transfers I am most curious about in the summer transfer season.

I think Mbappe will do quite well with Real Madrid. But the salary might be an issue. Now I think he has to decide if money is more important than his career. And if we put it that way I think there is only one answer. I believe he will decide to play for Real Madrid and both he and Real Madrid will be able to sort everything out.
About Haaland, I am still not sure which club he is interested in,

SA is trying to make inroads in WTC point table now. Kolapak system is not the problem anymore so no more excuses, hope they continue this kind of performance in future as well.

Yeah in recent time, under Williamson this kiwi team become excellent unit and they always punch above their weight. Having said that other SENA country Australia also don't take them seriously in Tests, for example CA treat them as their bunny and don't take their bilateral Trans-Tasman Trophy seriously because NZ hardly put any fight into it.

Now i'm starting to feel that Kiwis winning WTC was kinda due to flawed WTC system. They qualified into the finals despite not playing a single match away from home and Final was in England, so favorable condition for them. Result could have been very different if final was schedule in subcontinent or Caribbean.

Actually, the change of venues Could certainly be problematic for New Zealand. Now, we have to accept that they are the WTC champions. But now I think that South Africa is going to give them a good fight for their title and probably will also be able to win the championship in my opinion. But that's a long way to go, And yes currently, the Kolapak system not being an issue, will also help the South Africans to form a better squad.

I knew that Proteas record was good against the Kiwis but i never imagined that Protea's had such dominance when playing against the kiwis. Protea are yet to lose any series, that's some fine record and may be it's a NZ version of final frontier.

Actually, I also did not know about this record. And now as I come to know about this I am in absolute awe of the South African test cricket team. Because Newzealand is no easy team to beat. They are also the test cricket champions currently and to have a record like that against the champions is just absolutely great and shows how good this team is at test cricket.

Nice to see the PSL 2022 finishing on a high note without any untoward incidents. 41-year old Mohammad Hafeez formed the backbone of the Pakistani batting lineup, and he along with Shaheen Shah Afridi destroyed Multan when they came up for batting. Can't forget the contributions from the two overseas stars as well - David Wiese and Harry Brook. Especially surprised with the stellar performance from the latter, as I was hearing his name for the first time this season. And also, congrats to the captain Shaheen Shah for his accurate tactics.

Multan sultan got absolutely deleted in the last match of this PSL. Honestly, I would have liked a little more competitive match personally.

From start to finish it looked like there was only one team in the match. And I was actually amazed to see Muhammad Hafeez play like that at the age of 41. He really showed what experience can do in a cricket match. but I think Asif Afridi bowled really well for the Multan sultan. But that wasn't enough as the other bowlers did not do pretty well and the batting was also not up to the mark.
695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: February 27, 2022, 05:28:20 PM
The match between Atalanta and Bayern Leverkusen is going to be one of the best fixtures to watch because we know how good the two teams are right now and the way they are so good in scoring goals,I can not wait to see the two elephants fight.
Atalanta's performance in Serie A is not very good. They have lost points in the last few matches. It is challenging for them to win against a strong team like Leverkusen. Leverkusen are playing very well in the Bundesliga. Atlanta and Leverkusen are not weak teams. However, Leverkusen's performance is better than Atlanta's at the moment. However, 1st leg is Atalanta's home match. So we are expecting a competitive match.

I think even though Atalanta is not doing quite well currently, Atalanta and Leverkusen are the same in terms of strength. Because Atalanta is facing a lot more difficult competition than Leverkusen. In the Bundesliga, I don't think that the teams are too bad but the main competition is Bayern Munich and Dortmund. But in the Italian League, there are a lot more teams that are really good. So, I think it's going to be an even match.

The fact that there are too many top players in PSG, such as Messi, Neymar, Mbappe doesn't mean that they will be the champions. Look at other teams, they may have not such players but their victories against grand teams were easy. So, I just say that it won't be easy to beat Ajax, Salzburg and even Villareal.
Everything is not easy in terms of football matches, but everyone can also see when a club has many star players as you mentioned, then the chance of winning is greater than a club that does not have a single star player, although it will also not happen easily for all the clubs that exist today. Especially if one of the star players from PSG is injured during the match

PSG has a lot of star players. Actually, I think they don't even need all the players to perform well to win against Real Madrid. One or two players can obviously have an off day. But they all have to play as a team. And I am not too confident about the team chemistry in the PSG squad right now. But then again Real Madrid is not also in the best of form right now so I think PSG should have the advantage here. Also with 1 goal advantage.

I think that the people are going to be divided into two parts about this matter. Because we will have certain people supporting the movements and some people not supporting this, you know basically how it is. Actually, I think this might seem like a very poor decision but this is going to be really helpful for the future of football in Brazil in the long run. I know it's a tradition for Brazilians but sometimes people have to move on. Not all changes are bad.

The Brazilian championship format has different characteristics from the common formats in Europe. It doesn't mean that the ones in Europe are better. But we know that Europe is where the money in football is.

If Brazil, and not only, wants to promote its football more in the old continent, it has to make some changes to the format of its competitions, to become more appealing to the fans of Europe. On the contrary, it will only attract when a European coach is in Brazil, or because of an excellent player who stands out, before arriving at a European club.

Yes, I agree that changes need to be made but what I wanted to say is that there might be a lot of people who don't agree with that and also think that changes might cause problems. People who are generally afraid of changes in my opinion.

But at this moment people agree or disagree doesn't matter because changes are needed. Otherwise, it's going to lose more interest and money. And it's really important that everyone realizes that. And I think a stand out there is going to attract more people there a coach.

I don't think Khabib Nurmagomedov is going to do that as he has already said that he is done with fighting.

You know, he wouldn't have even fought his last fight which was against Justin as he was going through a lot of mental warfare at that moment.

So, I really don't think that Khabib Nurmagomedov stepping into the cage is an option for the Eagle FC. But that would be a great option for them to really gather a lot of interest. But, I have seen Khabib Nurmagomedov in a few podcasts and he has always stated that he is done with fighting as a competition.
I do believe the owner/president recently hinted that Khabib vs GSP in a grappling match could potentially take place. I assume this would be competitive, and therefore would count to their records. Khabib coming out of retirement in the first place will draw people in, but he would also be looking to make it 30-0 which is another way to draw in the fans, plus GSP has a decent enough fanbase to get some new eyes on the competition.

I don't know if it's going to happen or if that was just said in an attempt to garner some interest at the time, but the prospect of it would be huge for Eagle FC if they could make it happen.

Khabib Nurmagomedov versus GSP is going to be big at any time of the year. This is the type of fight that you want to get in fantasy MMA. Even Khabib Nurmagomedov said that he will never come back for money but if he finds a  worthy opponent he might come out of retirement.

So, in the case of GSP vs Khabib, I think there is some potential. But I think Khabib would like to fight in the 145 category and if GSP reduces weight to 145 I think there will be a lot of skill difference by that wait cutting. So there are a lot of problems too.

Afghanistan is not a full fledged test playing team while Bangladesh is a regular test playing country. So performing good against an associate team does not prove the fact that Bangladesh is very good at home conditions. Bangladesh were recently whitewashed by Pak in Test and T20Is at there home grounds. Afghanistan is an underdog in this series.

At least in name, Afghanistan is a test playing nation and can't be compared with the smaller associate nations. They receive around $5 million every year from the ICC, which is tens of times higher when compared to what the associate nations such as Nepal receive. But that amount is only one-third of what Bangladesh receive every year from the ICC (~$15 million per year). Anyway, when it comes to test cricket both these nations have performed poorly. And Bangladesh has remained in this position despite being a test nation for more than two decades.

The majority of Bangladesh players did not have the physique before to play test cricket in my opinion. We could just look at the body of the players Cheesy and say that they are not fit at all.

But now the players have become really careful and conscious about their physique. And I think also in recent times we have seen Bangladesh do quite well in test cricket. But, the overall performance of Bangladesh in test cricket is quite bad. and they even lost the first match against Afghanistan (first match for Afghanistan).

Conte's departure from Inter Milan was mutually agreed upon; he had no desire to leave, but the club was in financial trouble and unable to fund transfers, forcing the club to sell the players Conte had assembled, making it extremely difficult for the club to keep him; he was not fired, but rather released by Inter Milan. The fans are unhappy with Lukaku because his personal situation was different; he was asked to decrease his wage in order for the club to resolve its financial crisis, which he refused, and turned his back on the club
That did not seem to prevent Conte from receiving all the payments due from Inter in full, without any discounts on the team's difficult financial situation Wink Therefore, I would still not praise Conte's behavior so much in this situation, although of course his behavior is quite understandable, given all Antonio's ambitions and his thirst for titles. Although, of course, no one pulled Lukaku's tongue when he said in all the interviews that he wanted to stay at Inter, despite all the problems, and then abruptly changed his mind when an offer came from Chelsea. On the other hand, I think that a good sum for the transfer of Lukaku certainly provided invaluable assistance to Inter at that difficult time, so everything is not so clear.

Well, the thing is no one is going to give away free money, and obviously, Conte did the same. The club is in a difficult financial situation but I don't think that's too much of a concern for him, and it's also legal. It's not like he did something illegal and he should be punished or something like that for it.

Lukaku is also not going to miss out on a transfer chance from Chelsea obviously. Because he also wants the best for his career and also wants to move to bigger teams and to the leagues where the competition is higher.
