701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Development Update Oct 22 2016 on: October 24, 2016, 07:30:49 AM

One big news about the Core development team: Pzjack has got a potential donation of 1 million CNY from a Chinese mining rig producer. This could fund three full-time Litecoin Core developers. And we've already got some good developers very excited about it.

Perhaps it wasn't wise to post this information until it was confirmed as 100% legit and in stone. Otherwise as I've highlighted you've only gotten people excited about something that MAY not even come to fruition based on your own wording of the supposed announcement.

Hype doesn't do anyone any good if the facts are not facts and still based on supposition/hope.

702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 24, 2016, 06:03:19 AM
Zero-sum game ultimately. Anyone trying to make a point about "people lost money"... that's just how markets work, some win and some lose.

Not everyone wins when it comes to a market that can go up and down and have wild swings. To be clear not everyone wins all the time, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose...

Monero still chugging on... Cool
703  Economy / Auctions / Re: ❎ ~AUCTION LEALANA SILVER MONERO (XMR) - 3-coin set ~ NUMBER 15 ⭕️ on: October 23, 2016, 04:07:44 PM
UPDATE: There will be no unfunded coins for this auction or any other auction for these coins that I make in the future.

So aside from your auctions, will any of the sale coins come unfunded?

No they will not.

Which is why I advise people before they purchase these coins that they are required to fund them.
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 1 XMR = 0.1 BTC on: October 23, 2016, 10:52:17 AM
You can imagine this, that price: 1 XMR = 0.1 BTC?

rising from current price which is 0.0099 to 0.1BTC means it should go up about 10x which is impossible not only because it is a huge rise but also because no altcoin has ever went up there since so many would dump before that price.

but i can see this in a couple of years though

Namecoin reached 0.14BTC in June of 2011 on bitparking exchange when it was open.
705  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FREE] Monero Brass Coin Giveaway on: October 23, 2016, 06:28:25 AM
Just curious how many have been requested so far (ballpark it)? I would assume shipping will cost you as much if not more than the coins.

Once I'm at 1000 requests, I will announce it so that way people know the giveaway is finished.

Update: Still working on getting everything organized to ship.

Had to order bulk envelopes, making a small paper insert with information on monero and the coin.

Also need to mass laser mark sheets of holograms with "UNFUNDED MONERO GIVEAWAY" or something like that.

And the last thing I can think of which is time consuming is hand writing all the customs forms for international customers.

This is why I gave a timeframe so wide as I had an inkling it would take me some time to get everything moving.

I may have missed something in my list of "TO DOs" but that sums it up for now.

Will update here once I have something to update on.

Hand writing postage and customs???
You need to get some automation set up on this part.
I could process all international orders in 1 morning for you if needed. Cheesy
I use stamps.com and it's quite easy.

My wife volunteered to hand write them all. She thought it would be more personable.

One of the goals of this giveaway was to do it correctly the first time, not necessarily fast.

And also if we used stamps.com wouldn't we would be disclosing people's addresses to 3rd party websites without the consent of the receiver's permission?

Never used that site.

Question for Collectors:

What, if anything, would/could stop a buyer from purchasing a set of my coins, loading them with the full face value, then redeeming them by peeling off the holograms and say cleaning the coins from the hologram residue?

To you, as collectors, would it be any different than if someone just bought the coins without any holograms in the first place?

(Assuming the price they paid was no different than the normal price I set my coins at (outside of auctions) for both scenarios)

Your feedback here is greatly appreciated.

 Smiley

@Hellot, I am in no rush to sell these coin sets. When they sell, they sell.

In fact this auction was posted because I had several requests to post an auction for these XMR coins as I had not posted an auction for these in a while. I am already busy as is, but to fill the demand for the auction, I decided to "give the people what they want".

The difference is in exclusivity.  When you said you weren't going to sell these without them being funded, that set a barrier to entry and you are now lowering it.  If someone wanted a coin before, they had to get one from someone who could fund it originally - one of your customers. Now they can just buy one and it will likely be nicer than one that had been peeled.

I would care less if these weren't the nicest coins in my collection. Smiley

@Hellot,

I will be sticking to the "no unfunded" coins comment I made originally.

It was my mistake in putting that sentence at the top of this auction.

Thank you for your honest feedback.

There will be no unfunded coins for this auction, unless you wish to receive the coins without holograms.

I'm not happy about this because you stated no unfunded coins would be sold.  I understand the price has risen and its going to be hard to unload that silver but I feel like you're changing the rules mid game.  I was generous with what I was wiling to pay based on the rules you stated.

After thinking about it my comment would not make sense anyway as set #15 would not be set #15 if it wasn't loaded with a hologram.

There is no way on my end to mark a set #15 if there are no holograms.

So yes Hellot you are right. My original stance remains. Apologies for the confusion.

Yeah I was wondering if I could get 1 monero virtually since I don't want to bother you as much as mailing a coin to a sanctioned country and they might think you are helping us to build nuke somehow Smiley .

I don't know why my addy is too long lol :

Also is there a need for payment ID by any chance? I don't know exactly how monero works and I'm using " coinwallets " .

Sorry but this giveaway was for an unfunded physical brass xmr coin that you can choose to or choose not to load with your own XMR
714  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [FREE] Monero Brass Coin Giveaway on: October 19, 2016, 10:03:39 PM
Is the face value on the coin 5XMR? Would be worth noting so I can pick up some XMR and fund these coins when you start selling them Smiley

Yes face value = 5 XMR

Hi, is this giveaway only for USA? or you ship outsite the USA? I'm from Italy and I don't understand if I can join this giveaway.. Thanks!

IF USPS can ship a 1 oz first class mail letter sized envelope to your country, you qualify.
716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 19, 2016, 08:13:52 PM
I see the risk/reward ratio to be better in XMR then in BTC, a rally of 10-15% is not that impressive. I made 15% in just a day today with XMR. So BTC is not that impressive.

Interesting news, the European Central Bank wants to control or curb the development of virtual currencies.
Perhaps they can control Bitcoin better but not XMR.

Not surprising so a central bank wants a monopoly on money, no surprise there.

Answer: Cash grab

Is it possible to make the address shorter wallet?

You could make it shorter by compressing it.

I don't believe it will function the same as the original uncompressed address though, at least from my understanding of how the code is written.

720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: October 19, 2016, 08:12:44 AM
What do we do now that DASH prices are in free fall and Zcash is around the corner with superior privacy?

Dash always drops when traders jump to "the latest and greatest", so if you're a trader, you follow the herd.  As far as Dash is concerned, it hasn't even begun to be useful, so the rest of us have a long term view of things.  Dash has it's eye on the prize, which is fiat replacement everywhere, completely independant and decentralized.  Privacy is a function of fungibility.  When other projects make a blockchain obscured privacy coin, sure, as long as you trust the coding and that there are no back doors, you should use that for illegal trade.  Other people simply want to know that they can remove the history behind their coins if those coins are unwanted by someone they want to trade with, for any reason, there by providing fungibility.

I'm amazed at how many people keep coming here basically questioning Dash's survivability against competition on one single service feature.  People really don't get what Dash is about ..... still!

I'm the only one crazy enough to say this, but this is the idea:  Dash wants to be the fiat replacement of the world.  All the old Satoshi goals lie with Dash, only the Dash team understands how that needs to look, how it needs to function, how it needs to interface.  Even if Dash has the initial wallet integration of Evolution, there will be no reason an outside group wouldn't be able to use the DAPI to provide services to others.  From centralized services to other decentralized services.  I speak broadly, because it is broad and completely inclusive.

Dash realizes that there will be other currencies to compete with, but frankly, everyone else is so far behind... the only current competition for some time will be Fiat, and fiat alone.  Everyone else is aiming for niche markets.  Dash is aiming for the population of the world, a new order of financial service providers using Dash and will allow for any project to be built on top of the Dash network.

Dash is the foundation that can carry the world, and will certainly carry a significant portion of the world.  Everyone has such limited and narrow ideas of what can be done.

Not just one point, the mixing doesn't work and 4.1 mill or so tied up in masternodes and who knows who owns them and when they will decide to liquidate.

Well who cares if the owners of Dash keep their funds stored away in masternodes. If each owner sees it necessary or time to sell, they will sell, that is a good thing. The same can be said about every single asset of some sorts. Who knows when major Apple stock holders can liquidate at any time! Who knows when the Monero holders will start selling off! What will happen when the people holding Zcash need to liquidate the 20% block rewards that they get!

As for mixing, it works just fine. Mixing must be done before hand, but once done, it is solid tech. Are there other technologies that provide stronger privacy? Sure, but that doesn't make Dash a failure. Just as these new families of privacy assets aren't so good for every day instant transactions doesn't rule them worthless either.

If they can sell.

Liquidity on the bid side of things has not ever looked very consistent above say 800-1000 BTC for very long. Now it is at ~300btc or less.

How can one sell if there is not much liquidity to sell into?

Race for the exits is in Dash's future at some point. It is like a roach motel of crypto, you check in but you don't check out (if you do you were one of the lucky ones).

Good luck to those who are invested in DASH.
