I will buy a new laptop this weekend and I want to ask what is the minimum specifications for Aeon to run? As I understand it I should have at least 8gb of RAM and at least an Intel i5 processor to sync the blockchain correct?

That is a good baseline. You can get away with less but it becomes more painful.

It's time to restore some sanity at the upper levels of team Monero!

You have always been one of my favorites in this community dude.

what to expect from the coins and its leadership we will catch up with the leaders or we will not catch up?

Do your own homework and make your own call. No one is going to spoon feed you answers and if they do, they are trying to take your money. Better to pursue that discussion on the speculation thread, BTW. This thread is for people trying to use the coin or discuss the technology.

I am very glad the crypto market is self regulating and allows smaller players to play with small amounts of money. I also hope that this stupid prank doesn't give ammunition to TPTB to find an excuse to close our unregulated playground and make the requirements too onerous for exchanges to continue as they are.

Concern trolling in fine form.

If you don't think TPTB have endless excuses to do what they want to the crypto trading playground should they decide to do so, you haven't been around much. This one incident makes no difference whatsoever.

However, I can see some people who have supported this through thick and thin are a little pissed off.  For them, it's one thing to not care, it's a step further show it having a joke around at their expense.

Yeah I agree with that pretty much. My view is speculators gonna speculate. If you don't like it, just ignore it, rather than getting into the mud with them.

If you are a long term holder or contributor to the technology the whole speculator scene affects you little if at all, unless you choose to pay attention to it.

726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 06:13:51 AM
With Moneros pump Aeon looks looks like a possible play.  It's been flat for a while and appears to be due for a pump of it's own.  Not for any fundamental reason mind you, but because it's the poor man's monero.

Come on, everything is growing now for months. Not just Monero. actually Monero least since is so much new capital entered crypto that have no ideas what anything in Crypto is and means and they throw this capital to anything that crawls.  Yes Monero also profit from this new capital and will profit greatly on long term.

AEON is also making ATHs now and then but fall out of top100 and now is close to top150 coins by marketcap. After bubble burst AEON will return to around rank 50-70.

Exactly. This does not look like 'flat for a while' to me (even the BTC price has been on a steady climb). It is just up a bit less than a lot of more hyped coins.

...

Thanks for the complement by the way. We are just trying to build a solid coin here, without a lot of noise and drama.

Speaking of drama, I heard on tweeter that smooth has a MAJOR announcement coming tomorrow...

YUGE!

It will be announced on the AEON pump group teamspeak.

In case anyone doesn't realize, this is a joke
728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 04:43:38 AM
As to me "trying to fuck someone else out of money"  You have absolutely no reason to say that to me.  Be careful please.

I didn't mean 'you' specifically, sorry if that wasn't clear. I had no idea whether you were day trading or not. (You said you weren't, and I have no reason to doubt that).

But the reality is that those who are day trading are playing a zero sum game. If they are buying on the basis of a public pre-announcement, where is your edge in this game? You must be making some sort of judgment based on all available information as to the content, importance, and market-relevance of the announcement  (or others' assessment thereof). Just buying on a public announcement and expecting that to be riskless profit is neither reasonable nor realistic.

But what RS did was wrong.  I have already said why I think that is the case.  Is his point true?  Yes.  Does that justify his means.  No.

I don't entirely disagree. As I said it would not be my preference. I just don't think it was the high offense (essentially theft) some are making it out to be. People traded, some won, some lost. Every trade had two sides.

Just from trading perspective: Nearly every coin is in -20 or -30% today in BTC terms, not only XMR. I think XMR will recover faster then many expect, as real announcements are coming and the project is not based on hype like the majority of other crypto projects.

Agree though to be fair, unfortunately this stunt won't fix hype. It still rules the day and hype may continue to outperform for now.
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON [2017-04-23: update to 0.9.12.0] on: May 25, 2017, 04:21:24 AM
AEON was listed at Hitbtc today!!!!!!!!!!
Very good news!

So coin should became much more popular and a little bit more expensive ;-)

Not much volume there https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/hitbtc/

Compare

https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/bittrex/

https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/poloniex/

Poloniex seems a possibility. Aeon is the highest class of the cryptonote coins, it never went through a scumbag phase like Monero, or a protracted 'no dev but lets cover that fact with noise' phase like boolberry.

Asia is going berzerk with coins at the moment. Aeon is a solid coin, if it gets some Asian exposure soon it could be a very strong coin. Smooth has always been a gentleman online, aeon supporters have always been civilized. The other major cryptonote coins cannot say that, and factors like that might be important eventually.

Actually what would be great is an exchange in Japan or Korea.

I know everyone is all over poloniex here but if you look at where the trading volumes are exploding, Poloniex may be yesterday's news. They seem to be up to the task of scaling up their operation too.

Thanks for the complement by the way. We are just trying to build a solid coin here, without a lot of noise and drama.

How many coins will be needed for each masternode? I need to budget my ICO buy. Thanks!

NO ICO - it will be a Fair Mining Start announced in Advance.  The technology in Monero is Great, unfortunately the dumbass' think it is funny when a lot of people lose money.

I gather your coin is going to be immune to people losing money? Or people can still lose money but it will be okay because no one will find that funny?

Following.
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 04:12:14 AM
The trajectory is that all coins are getting dumped because there is a decent correlation between alts and USD, so BTC up tends to mean alts down for the most part (long-standing for at least a year or so).

You must've been trading in a different universe lately.

Excuse me? Do you see a lot of red there too, or am I color blind?

732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 04:09:26 AM
how are people supposed to trust him when he speaks out about scams.

You're not. Do your own homework. If he makes a claim, verify it yourself.

I agree with some of your points though, like giving ammunition to opponents.

As I said earlier, I don't like the approach. Responding to the absurd hype in the industry, even by mocking it, is being swept up into it in a way.

733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 04:03:28 AM
He owes them $100 million.

That is not pretend money.  He intentionally set fire to other peoples money in the name of his ideals.

Sorry, I can't agree. People have to take responsibility for their own trading. You get it wrong, you lose.

If you want safety rails, and an 'everybody wins' mentality, crypto (at least crypto trading) is not for you.

If you didn't try to profit by day trading the announcement (and if you were doing that you realize you were trying fuck someone else out of money right?), then it affected you hardly at all. The price is up significantly from two days ago. Long term holders have nothing to complain about.

Ok so they didn't deliver on one announcement... so what. Does anyone here actually have proof the devs dumped their coins or is this just another shilling?

Do some research, they promoted a big announcement knowing there wasn't one.

Ok well if you're so passionately motivated to defame Monero, why don't you just paste the link that's open in your other tab to the source supporting that claim?

Here you go , shit for brains.  Roll Eyes

https://twitter.com/fluffyponyza/status/867362460797480961

I've already seen the twitter post, that does nothing to prove they devs are dumping their own coins.

https://twitter.com/fluffyponyza/status/867531514564706304

For fuck sake, if you have followed fluffypony at all over the years you would know this is exactly in character. He hates the pump-and-dump speculator scene and would have nothing to do with it other than pranking about it.
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 02:22:33 AM
Also, I guess some Monero programmers get donations in XMR for their time by the community? Bit disrespectful to them unless price restores quickly. Fluffy is already rich so it's easy for him not to be affected.

Agree on the narrow point. But looking at things more broadly...

Do you realize that the Monero price is about where it was before the 'pre-announcement'? Or that Monero has fallen today less than Ripple or Stellar or Zcash?

I'll let iCEBREAKER explain it to you since he does it better, but 'anti fragile' means that if anything fluffypony says or matters all that much, we're doing something wrong. Fortunately, it doesn't.

(And to the extent that this stunt makes what he says or does matter even less, we're doing something right.)

You can try to make the point that the price is still above the pre-announcement levels but, look at the trajectory, have you seen the number of very loyal people just selling their Monero and pledging not to come back?  There are a lot of people that were F'd with today and they won't forget it.

The trajectory is that all coins are getting dumped because there is a decent correlation between alts and USD, so BTC up tends to mean alts down for the most part (long-standing for at least a year or so).

If the value of a coin can be dramatically affected by a prank I doubt it has much value to begin with. That's my view.

The question has been asked if the rest of the dev team supports this kind of action and if we can expect more leaders shooting themselves and US in the foot?  I think it's an important thing for all of us to know and understand. Speak up developers!

Personally, it wouldn't be something I would do. I think protesting against speculation and hype is actually being too affected by it and I prefer to ignore it all and focus on what I think is important. But that isn't what matters because I'm not fluffypony. I'm sure there are things I would do that he wouldn't.
737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 25, 2017, 02:12:54 AM
The more I see him the more I feel like he's going to fuck me in the ass.

Maybe, but probably less than average for crypto, even though the others might dress it up with (non-ironic) pretty videos and corporate 'partnerships'.

If you're can't handle the snake pit, crypto is not the place for you. One community is willing to tell you that. The rest will give you a sweet kiss while they pickpocket you. You decide which are the real scammers.

People Are Going To Be Talking About This For YEARS...!

We can only hope.

at this point it's an unfounded conspiracy theory that he did this.

No. I told you before. If we were in traditional finance FluffyPalmface would be under investigation now.
You can NOT do this. It fundamentally rise too many suspicion.
Saying "but I don't believe" is not enough at this point.

1. If you want traditional finance, what the fuck are you doing here?

2. Fluffypony does not have access to his exchange accounts and from my impression of him, doesn't even trade much. He also doesn't need a little more money he might make from something like this.

3. Yes he's a troll, but he's not a crook. In my opinion. Do your own homework and make up your own mind.

There was a question raised by the recent cryptonote bug and exploit that was discovered and reported by Monero. The fix was integrated into AEON some time ago, and even though I had already done so, I went ahead and again did a full scan of the chain today to double check that there were no exploits used in AEON.
