As far as the pre-order model goes they will likely continue this for gen2. I asked them if they would get to a point that we could order stock off the shelf and they said no. They said that the lead time between the pre-order and production would be much shorter.
KNC is a stand up group of people. I had to make some changes to my orders and got a partial refund and they took care of it right away. I feel confident they'll deliver on time and at a greater hash rate than 400 for the Jupiters. Their actions and the professional and courteous way they have treated me has only strengthened my belief that they will produce as expected.
Can't wait - less than a month. I hope they can get more than 400 Gh/s out of the chips. If they can pull 600 or more I'll be super thrilled. I'm optimistic they'll ship on time, but I have a vested interest that they do. Need my MF coins.
I find it hard to believe that anyone could get 600 Gh/s in a PCIe card and keep it cool longer than 10 seconds to actually run. Must be a joke, but .... It must be a unicorn. Glad to see that it finally landed in Kansas much less. Nah, no pre-order for me. I got the last refund from them and wouldn't ever think of giving them more cash.
I agree - not stable yet. Have you ever tried to order anything over $1000? It's nerve racking, because you have no idea if the price is going to drop the second you try to make the purchase.
It these guys come back on-line http://bitinstant.com they were great to convert cash to an exchange like bitstamp.net or btc-e.com. It took out all the conversion to fiat documentation that is required at banks and the fees were reasonable.
I think we'll see $200 on gox in 2 weeks and then it'll be interesting to see if everyone freaks out and panic sells like they did back in April. I'm ready to pounce on that if it goes there.
On another note, virtual currency is gaining interest and my technical brief at my company on the topic gained the most interest over every other topic. It's not a cab driver level yet, but slowly getting there.
Gox's money movement is horrible. It's hard to respect them as a true currency exchange when it takes more than a week to get a wire in (my last wire to them) and who knows how long to get a wire out. I've had much better luck with btc-e and okpay - 2.99 Euro - not so expensive.
If they don't get it straightened out then there going to lose customers like mad to bitstamp, coinbase and btc-e. I think all they have going for them is their btc/usd and euro is about 10% more than the other exchanges.
thanks to us banking it can be a royal pain to get money into the exchanges - lots of verification, paperwork, whatever.
you could also set up an account at okpay.com and then transfer the funds to btc-e.com for a low fee (2.99 Euro). It all depends on where you live, best of luck to you.
mtgox money movement sux badly - hopefully they'll get their act together soon.
