721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Primecoin Mining Rig - Parallela on: September 02, 2013, 04:39:37 PM
Anyone bought one of these? Please let us know! I'm willing to get wet with this project.

I paid for one, and I'm on the preorder list. I'm looking forward to play with it!!
I am very curious to see how it works - would seem like an ideal match on a price/xpm mining basis.
I wonder if this will still be cost-effective now that the gpu miner finally looks like it becoming a reality.

I don't mind if it ends up being not cost-effective, I plan to use it for other things too.
Hi, post progress.
How you will use it?
CPU mining?

I'm going to buy one to test with mining cpu coins and if its not profitable it becomes my 3d printer host. It should be just as fast if not faster than my 8 core amd slicing stl's into gcode.

Litecoin doesn't deserve to be the top alt.

Why?

723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not stıck to bıtcoın? on: September 02, 2013, 04:31:08 PM
The coin cap of bitcoin could eventually kill it. People won't spend millions a year on mining hardware and power if mining isn't giving a decent return. Transactions fees could work but they could also drive people away if the fees got too high.

I doubt bitcoin will last in the long term, 10+ years. Most alt coins will tank long before btc though, every litecoin clone as well as litecoin are doomed imo.

What will happen is the value of bitcoin will be high enough that the transaction fees will be plenty to cover the miners. Higher volume(worldwide use) will cause there to be a TON of transaction fees.

If 1 bitcoin is $1,000,000 and you can mine 0.00001btc per day which would be what you should expect for just transaction fees. lol
That would net you about $10 a day. There is no way to go into detail and estimate what the speed/cost of mining hardware will be at that point but bitcoin will compensate either way.
Profitability drops, miners stop mining, difficulty lowers and the same amount of bitcoin from transaction fees is spread out over less miners.

Anyway, we have a long time to debate this b4 it actually happens. lol

how is the visa sales going hendo? your site looks nice  Wink this is a cool service

Not bad but would love to see more sales. The cards not working internationally is turning people away I think. I'm looking for a supplier but it seems almost all prepaid and gift cards sold in the USA are limited to working inside of the USA because they are afraid of money laundering and funding terrorists. lol

Maybe I can find someone in the UK to buy me inventory of gift visas that I can sell. lol

i had a similar problem with a prepaid visa not sending a payment to russia, i called the company and they enabled the card for international payments. maybe just give the company a call and see if the can enable it.

I think the other problem is international people are not able to register the card to their address. Once I get some Vanilla Visas maybe that wont be an issue.

Vanilla Visa's still require a zipcode.

Not sure if any other countries other than the US has those.

I've been looking at more and more sites that sell virtual debit cards and most sell a few versions, like one for usd one for euro, and a few others for other currencys. I have also looked at buying empty prepaid cards with a control panel but they are very expensive. I'm going to check around at local banks, maybe one of them sells the prepaid debit cards im looking for.

It seems they have really cracked down on using/registering prepaid cards internationally.
727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: September 01, 2013, 07:35:17 PM
Do u have any plans to add new coins for making more profit ?

I think the problem is that the pool is too big for the most profitable coins.
728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: <><>[ANN]Visa4Crypto.com Site Overhaul. Now featuring autodelivery of cards on: September 01, 2013, 07:08:57 PM
Please support Cloudcoin as well

We accept any cryptocoins that Coinpayments.net accepts. If they take on Cloudcoin we will take cloudcoin.
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: please create NVIDIA-only Coin on: September 01, 2013, 04:21:09 PM
I would much rather see a coin that can only be mined on an ARM processor, like the processors in every single smart phone and tablet on the market.

This would give me a reason to buy up a TON of old used smart phones on ebay. lol
730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ASIC Testing on Scrypt? on: September 01, 2013, 03:49:27 PM
Uh, someone CAN make a GPU farm that big. It's about 250 rigs, which sure as hell isn't peanuts, but it's doable.

Yes, you will find it in the Arctic, next to the big nuclear reactor.

If its all in a single location it should be possible to detect the heat signature from space. lol
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multi Cryptocoin Payment Processing [Coin List Vote] on: September 01, 2013, 03:44:43 AM
XPM is the third most popular coin after BTC and LTC.  Why would you remove it?  I think write now people in the hoarding phase, but this is not a coin you want to drop.  It will surpass LTC soon I think.

Check out the poll results: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264016.0

I agree, XPM is a grower not a shower.

735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Finally got 7x 7970 and 7x 7950 cards running on one motherboard! on: August 31, 2013, 06:58:07 PM
I could have told you that. :p

I sell systems loaded with 8x 7970 or 4x 7990 for password cracking use, but you wouldn't want to pay their prices - they're enterprise grade rackable systems with a warranty and typically onsite setup of the cluster as we're doing infiniband interconnects for Virtual OpenCL (VCL) clustering. Smiley

It's difficult getting 7 or 8 cards reliably working in systems.  It's even more difficult when you have to make them rack mountable.

That's one of our development systems.

yeah looks uber for the coin mining...
NOT

heat mate, heat! this one has no chance even with 1.5kw direct cooling system blowing directly at it. This is noncence.. This hardware can be used only for old ladies to check emails (thats counting the cryptoworld heat requirements).

Why keep the plastic shrouds on them at that point? They are so close together that the fans on the cards are not doing any good. You might as well take the shoud and fans off, this would open up more surface area for the heatsinks to radiate the heat. Also, thoes dinky fans(even tho they are server fans) are not going to cut it. Use a squirlcage fan, they are AWESOME!. Check out my Old Trunk Litecoin Mining Rig. I should be able to fit 20-25 cards inside of a "wind tunnel" and keep them all below 70c even at 100f outside.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A RAM based fpga LTC miner on: August 31, 2013, 05:17:24 AM
There was an ASIC in your hand calculator from the 1970s.  It didn't cost a billion dollars to design either.

Calculating for inflation it may have.

I'm at the point where I have to read over my posts 30 times to make sure I spelled everything rigt, and should probably get some sleep.

739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: >>[ANN] Pick the date Litecoin goes to MTgox and win the Pot LitecoinToGox.com<< on: August 31, 2013, 02:57:07 AM
I just updated the site. There are 2 new pools allowing you to pick the month that Litecoin goes to either MtGox or Coinbase. I am working on the bet by week option and will have it up in a day or so.
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: >>[ANN] Pick the date Litecoin goes to MTgox and win the Pot LitecoinToGox.com<< on: August 31, 2013, 01:33:03 AM
I wish I could buy a month instead of a date. A date is too random but then again, I'm not much of gambler  Shocked

I thought pretty hard about it before putting the site up. The way I set it up its like playing a single number on a roulette wheel.

Maybe I should rethink it and give more options. Like leave the pick the day as it is, and set up separate pools for pick the week or pick the month. The odds would be better than picking per day but the payout would be lower if you win since it has to be split between more shares. Picking a specific day, if you win, has a higher payout because the odds are that very few people bought the date you picked. Less risk equals less payout, more risk equals more payout.

I'm open for input.
