722  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] What is recommended to follow "Social Media Or DYOR" in the crypto world on: November 04, 2023, 10:25:54 AM
But the person who saw the news on social networks about a colorful project, supposedly giving prizes to everyone, and also saw admiring reviews from bots, unaware that he was being deceived, will rush to participate in order to catch the train.
I know some friends who believe those links that appear in browsers with “Congratulations, you have won a car, click on the link to get it” and other frauds that appear as if you have won something or received free gifts.

The most they can do is search for the first result on Google, which is sometimes misleading.
Search for most services on the forum and you will find that the first link may be a phishing link (not to mention that some Google ads appear first).

You all have your points, If someone come across anything on the social media, we shouldn't take decision on them first without making adequate resea about them, we can consult other sources to verify their true nature, we can also ask eome people we know that are very good in digital technology about what we saw online, as long as we make enquiry from the use of google, there will be various opinions we will receive from different sources, check their reviews and also act patiently while awaiting for more convincing evidence before accepting any offer, it's either we don't have patience or we are too greedy to make quick money and these are the category of their targets to see that we hastily make a decision to go for what they are offering, even before we make deep research about them.

Either way you took you're not still safe or exempted from the attack of scammers because they are everywhere, but what gives you control over them is when you know what you're doing, having the knowledge is a key without being deceived, while making your own research, there are many things to come across with, both fake and real, but when you're guided, you will not took the wrong steps, don't also be misguided by emotions or greediness, these also draws people more closer to loosing their asset to scam.
724  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin price speculation (BTC/NGN) on: November 04, 2023, 06:43:24 AM
Let's see and watch how long this will be sustained even as we are approaching the Christmas season, Naira is trying to maintain a strong resistance to fall, well i want to believe that this is not really a market reaction as others have said and could also be in other way round, what amazes me about this is the rate at which the market price of items in the market have rised and after the drop in exchage rate these prices still maintain the same rate, people are definitely taking advantage of this to make their own market manipulation.
725  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin dependants on: November 04, 2023, 06:07:22 AM
I'm new here and this is my first post making it official on the Lb. so my question is simple and straight forward , what happens to BTC if there were no tokens if tokens depends  on BTC coin to perform, what if there was none  just curiose

Bitcoin first comes to existence before tokens or altcoins were introduced, maybe there couldn't have been any of these altcoins and tokens if bitcoin wasn't introduced yet, but it's success birth to other people trying to create something similar to it and that's why they were all been tagged under memecoins and memetokens, they all depends on bitcoin, they are centralized and bitcoin is decentralized.

They uses smart chain contract and other networks other than bitcoin network, their mining is mostly PoS while bitcoin is PoW, if there were no tokens or memecoins, things would have been easier, less scam in cryptocurrency, less or no exchages and the government would have taken bitcoin as their only acceptable alternative digital currency to fiat instead of CBDC.
726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do anyone have done this? with gambling platforms on: November 03, 2023, 11:02:00 AM
Gambling platforms are customers friendly but when we are not giving them the necessary attention on what they request from us, this cause the beginning of a bridge between them, if we ar doing our oart then they will also not hesitate to do the needful we expect drom them, but why have we always wanted to do the wrong thing and yet expect to have their best offers, we will be the one to comply to their terms and not them to ours.
727  Economy / Gambling / Re: No KYC Crypto Casinos & Sites | NoToKYC.com | Exclusive Bonuses on: November 03, 2023, 10:32:58 AM
Therefore, individual and even fairly well-known casinos should not introduce mandatory KYC verification and even tryy to change jurisdictions in order to preserve the opportunity for anonymous players to also play.
I hope that some small country or territory will eventually make local laws that will allow casinos not to require KYC from players.  That would be right and great.
I support whatever you stated, but I am afraid the reality is that more and more crypto gambling sites are enforcing KYC in some way or another despite some of them advertising no-KYC based on my research.

There will always be some sites that will never request any form of KYC, but their numbers are shrinking with time sadly.

But unfortunately some regulator became more strict since this platform has been used by money launderers and other criminals, so maybe this is one added reason on why they implement this KYC to casinos so that they or even the platform could verify easily if their user is not doing any shady activity while using their casino. I also support this no KYC on reputable platform but for now there's none of them offering this so we will really get force to submit this requirements so that we can play, but for other who's so skeptical and can't trust those platform asking that maybe they should find newly launch casino since most of them offering this No KYC thing but the risk is so high knowing that we don't know if we can totally trust them.

There have been alot on gamblers mind concerning the KYC challenges they face in using a casino, despite this they cannot hold their peace without using them because they get some of the things they wanted from using them, truly said that there are no KYC casino and this categories are also another different ones that they will have to research about them and know how reputable they are before using them, I will just advise here that we shouldn't start what we may be unable to complete when choosing between a KYC gambling platform and a casino that does not require KYC.
728  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trying to find advice and info about selling BTC on: November 03, 2023, 09:50:59 AM
Hello, I am trying to figure out a good reputable place or platforms to look for a buyer/buyers for a very large amount of bitcoin.
Basically, I have a holder of Bitcoin wanting to sell. They have roughly 392,000 BTC, and invested very early and held on to it.
Any advice or recommendations would be very much appreciated.

This doesn't seems believing that you have that kind of bitcoin and yet don't know how to sell it, if i may ask this then that how did you acquire such, if you buy through a particular means then why not go through same to sell your bitcoin, there are exchages, there are people trusted who perform an escrow service, incase you don't want to use an exchange, so it's up to you first, that what exactly is it that you want, are you trying to avoid the exchanges or make use of the escrow service providers if you are privacy minded.
729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin? on: November 03, 2023, 09:02:44 AM
The cryptocurrency market, especially Bitcoin, has witnessed significant price changes in 2023. Factors such as  anticipation for Bitcoin ETFs and strong investor interest have contributed to its recent growth. While there is optimism that Bitcoin will reach $40,000  by the end of the year, it is important to be aware of possible downside scenarios.

Don't Invest if what you're targeting is to see the bitcoin spot ETF approval coming, that shouldn't be your own reason for making an investment, there are more to that than we are just seing, make your decision to invest in bitcoin because you understand the bitcoin network itself and you want to participate in the financial freedom economy under a decentralized network, what you will next do is to target a specific buying period when the market dips, buy and hold, Halving is one of the major event that opens up the season for a bullrun when such time comes, ETF is only by the way under the influence of news.

It's not funny that many aren't talking about the current ongoing fall of USD over Naira, as at today, the excha rate for $1 is  #985 the whole show started as at Wednesday while Thursday loud it all when i discover Naira is exchanged at 1135 as at yesterday, now the USD is crashing and Naira is gaining strength and momentum towards rising back and fighting against the US dollars, what are we seeing to this, let discuss the probably expectations with this current happenings under the following highlights.

1. Will Naira maintain it resistance against dollars for long.

2. Is this a trick to render the market vulnerable in other to rise back beyond expectations in subsequent days.

3. Is the exchange rate feasible to to bafk to 1300 or beyond this year or Naira is raising a dorminance against USD for long.

4. Considering the festive period approaching, we know hiw things normal appears being expensive because of high demand, should we expect contrary or worst base on the excha rate.

5. Will there be deflation upon every market commodities and items already inflated at the cause of USD exchage rate to Naira when it was 1300

731  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: November 02, 2023, 01:05:18 PM
Everyone is greedy for money. And when one knows that there is a chance of winning a huge amount from gambling then one does not hesitate to jump into gambling no matter how risky it may be, be it a minor or an adult. And therefore gambling should not be done in front of children.  Because when a child sees his parents gambling then no fear of gambling works in him.  He also considers gambling as a common thing and does not hesitate to gamble. Therefore, gambling in front of children is not advisable at all

Yes exactly one cannot leave the way in which there are huge money and in such way they ignore its risk but those who are wise individuals will concentrate more on its risk than its benefits. One can be a gambler in front of his parents if parents are also a part of gambling because their parents cannot advice to them as individuals are shadow of their parents and have impact of activities performed by their parents.

I witnessed numerous children who for the first time gamble just for fun but they assume gambling as a successful field and continue this process until they loss everything. After this they want to stop to gamble but they cannot because they want to recover all their losses which is not possible with the help of gambling.

When the children are seing their parent gambling, they will think that it's a means of making money to earn a living and from there they begin to develop their own interests on how to become a gambler despite the fact they they don't have an idea of what it means then, there are certain limit we should learn to maintain with our children, they must not be exposed to some things just because we are into it, children have to go in the right pattern of how they should be brought up, parents need to be careful, just as drinking alcohol is uncalled for in the presence of the children, same we should exhibit caution by not gambling in front of our children for any reason.
732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you use multiple platforms for betting? on: November 02, 2023, 12:04:02 PM
What are your thoughts on this? When you bet with crypto do you find it easier or harder to fund multiple accounts?

This aspect of funding is the most important thing to always considers because we are not going to be active in the two account or more if we are not having money in them to use for gambling, now it's more of how we can afford funding multiple accounts if our source of income is capable or not, assuming that gambling were to be free without the use of money, that would have been a different case, there's no benefits in having multiple casinos without using anyone of them because they lack funding to use in playing a bet while gambling.
733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mtGox Nobuaki Kobayashi on: November 02, 2023, 11:32:45 AM
Almost 10 years since MtGox has been hacked.

This guy keeps on changing the deadline for paying back the exchange’s creditors.

Why? This is simple : banks have asked Nobuaki Kobayashi to hold creditors assets as long as possible to make these assets work for themselves and to produce interests.

How much money do you believe MtGox creditors assets have produced since 10 years?

Who do you think benefits from this money?

Some creditors have cash only assets and the banks still hold their assets !!!

Please send your complaint to Tokyo District Court president.

Address : 1-1-4 Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan

We should stop deceiving ourselves, the worst had already happened, if the money is eventually paid back, do you think every investors affected using their platform will receive their fund back, the worst is also going to happen and government will take charge of these asset abd sell it out to others in auction, or probably take it to themselves and add it up to the government treasury, but if eventually the  unexpected happens, are they using the then rate to make the payout or the current market price, where is the entire profits going, there are many things associated to this situation already beyond an ordinary explanation, if it takes over ten years and yet the case is not settled yet, do you think it would ever be, are the affected users still with the hope of receiving their money back or have moved on with their lives.
734  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Na why people go dey use SegWit addresses on: November 02, 2023, 10:22:52 AM
Thanks for bringing this information to the local board, but if i may ask, am yet to get the clear picture of the reason why you did this, is it for the purpose of local board translation or that you just wish to make a repetition on what had already been discussed, maybe this is just something you would have just make a recommendation for by providing the reference link to his thread, this is just my own opinion although.
735  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The application of DIP and hodl in our local business. on: November 02, 2023, 09:03:23 AM
Maybe you should know this first that when talking about the strategy of buying the dip and holding it, it may not applies to using fiat currency because it does not appreciate when you hold it, especially considering the naira currency that is depreciating daily over USD, we are talking about bitcoin in this content, whereby you made an investment in cryptocurrency and you target buying the dip and holding till when you realized a surge in the market before releasing, when we are adopting such with the way we run our normal business and local commodities now then nothing will comes out of it than loss.
736  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most you have ever lost in one session? on: November 01, 2023, 03:15:06 PM
I think OP is chasing the jackpot that is why he lost that huge amount of money. $200k is huge and if I were on OP's position, instead of betting on gambling I will use it to invest on Bitcoin, silver and gold coins or even real estate. Only a millionaire can afford to lose that amount so maybe OP is one of 'em.

You can chase jackpot with just lower bankroll. This kind of loss will not gonna happened by chasing jackpot but rather with high wager bets that turns into loss. Probably he made a couple of bets that is too huge and lose them all.

I’m not sure what kind of jackpot you are pertaining but the jackpot which common being referred are those high multiplier hit and not just winning big by betting big since that is just high stake bet high reward.

This is not more or less chasing after the losses, when we want to gamble to make sure that we have a winning experience by all means, we can try to make use of different approach in that but yet not arrived at the same thing because gambling is unpredictable, the moment we hype high our expectations in it then it becomes more difficult to have what we want, we just need to enjoy it's benefit of having fun and leave the rest.
737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: November 01, 2023, 02:50:14 PM
Yes that's right. most of the gamblers who get a win will be like that, by forgetting their families when they manage to win a big win. Even the family that can accept him when the hardest situation will be forgotten if he has succeeded from gambling, but few people can only succeed from gambling. Many of them lose and become a burden to their families because even though they have enough income it will feel less by playing it in gambling.

And when they run out of money then they will ask their family to be able to return to gambling. of course this is one of the effects of gambling, with the destruction of their own finances and even families can also be affected. I don't think it's natural that those who gamble should involve their families because they themselves gamble while their families don't know anything. So I myself thought I would hide my gambling from my family, because I think basically no family would allow their family members to gamble.
for those who hide their gambling from family or friends. Of course, don't involve your family or friends when you are in financial trouble, even to get capital to play. although I'm sure more of those who experience financial problems definitely involve their families.
it is an irresponsible form of gambling. it could even be detrimental to other people. I'm also a gambler, but I wish I didn't do that.

We have our decision to make, there are times we need to allow friends and family know about what we do and there are also times and periods we tend to refrain from that due to some privacy benefits or reasons, we have to make sure that what we want is what we get, if you intended that you want to allow them to know about your worth and gambling lifestyle, then work towards achieving that, if that is also against your wish, then don't try to make them feel they know everything about your gambling lifestyle and experience.
738  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mining possibility in Nigeria on: November 01, 2023, 02:28:33 PM
Food for thought, is it possible to become a miner in naija supposing say our light just come stable. If u get the financial strength, shae you go enter mining with the continuous cut down of d reward wey miners dey get. If person even get am for mind, shae Niger government go allow people enter the business without Dem give them trouble. Wetting go be d future of Bitcoin mining for naija in  the world.

Light, money and the mining rig aren't the only challenge thst a miner can face when establishing a mining rig, setting up one is very time and money effective, this means you will require money to be a miner, yet this is not the most challenging aspect of it, there are many miners across the world all struggling in solving the complex mathematics equations and only the first to finish result in being awarded it's reward which is bitcoin, how versatile are you going to be among the thousands competing for same bitcoin reward in miming, how technically inclined are you in understanding about bitcoin mining, think about all these before considering starting a mining rig.
739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy Birthday, Bitcoin! Understanding the bitcoin whitepaper with Jameson Lopp on: November 01, 2023, 01:59:22 PM
I saw this today, that today marks the 15th anniversary of the bitcoin whitepaper, a nine-page document that kickstarted the age of bitcoin.

Quote
When Satoshi released the whitepaper on Oct. 31, 2008, it didn't seem like much. At first, the paper was distributed to a mailing list of cypherpunks, but it unveiled the concept of bitcoin to the world for the first time. The paper describes technical concepts such as Proof of Work and the Merkle Tree, and it gives us a glimpse into the problems that bitcoin addresses.

The bitcoin protocol would begin in earnest on Jan. 3, 2009 when Satoshi mined the first bitcoin block, also known as the genesis block. So, bitcoin has multiple birthdays — we wouldn't blame you if you celebrate year-round.

In the below Q&A, Jameson discusses why the whitepaper matters, the context from which it sprang, and even some things it got wrong.

https://blog.keys.casa/understanding-bitcoin-whitepaper/?utm_term=whitepaper-day&utm_campaign=security-briefing&utm_medium=email&utm_content=oct-31&utm_source=hubspot

I like the questions and answers. You can also read it.

What a nice remembrance, there's nothing to prove about bitcoin without consulting everything that was written concerning it, people learn about what bitcoin is and howi it serves the usefulness of it existence, all the protocol that was written concerning bitcoin and the intention on what Satoshi Nakamoto uses in creating bitcoin for all, things like this should be a memorable one and an unforgettable experience each time we come across it because without the whitepaper, there's no bitcoin because that's the manual to all it's protocols.
740  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Does Faucet give real bitcoins every few hours? on: November 01, 2023, 09:10:35 AM
So in a few hours the faucet will give us a very small amount of free bitcoins. The question is, is it real bitcoin? or is it just fake bitcoins and when we have met the minimum withdrawal limit, they just send real bitcoins to our withdrawal wallet address?

We cannot say all of them are real, but definitely some are, but for them meeting up with the requirements to make the withdrawal is what becomes a difficult task, because the money you will be given is very small to get withdrawal of, and as for those that promises higher pay rate for each task completed will not reward you because they can't afford to pay such huge amount of money, if you now compare and contrast the two conditions, you will conclude on everything about faucet to be a complete waste of time.

I think it's fake bitcoin, because on the faucet we only get 0.0000006 while the transaction fees are more expensive than that. So the small amount given by the faucet is fake bitcoin?

It's not fake in most cases, they know what they are doing, they will offer the amount of money which is unable to perform the transaction fee not to talk of what will be left for you, most people don't know the maths behind this before they rush into it.
