When normally spending money from the wallet (not coin-control), do newer (less confirmations) coins get spent first?
Yes. It is even written straight on the wallet.

722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Max generation and its consequences on: October 29, 2014, 11:51:47 AM
Soon (Zer0Sum said 6th of December), the second inflation control mechanism, max generation, will kick in. Max generation ensures that no more than 960 000 coins are generated each day. So, except if the amount of stackers goes down a lot, the days of 750% APR will be gone and HYP will have a more traditionnal 200% (then 100%, 50%, 33% after fourth year...)
the difficulty will begin to rise quicker than it is now. So you will either have to keep smaller blocks, or bite the bullet and use larger blocks that will stake faster and hit the ceiling. The rate is only changed for those that decide to go for the faster stake. (correction by presstab).

Which consequences for the coin? What follows is pure speculation from me:
  • Temporary price increase as we approach the "block halving" (which is technically not a block halving). Then dump just after then correction to a more regular price, which might be lower or higher than the current price - I do not know how block halving translates for other coins' economies.
  • Accusations of fastmine
  • Less interest for what is suddenly "just another TRK/CAP" - This means that we then must communicate on everything else than high interest rate, like HyperPool (the most important), HyperLoan, advanced coin control, other features we will have...
  • A stop at the increase of difficulty, since staking is not that interesting anymore - except if the price rises
  • Others?

And you, how do you see the effects of max generation?
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | Advanced Coin Control Wallet | 11 Markets on: October 28, 2014, 11:15:10 PM
just one quick questions, are you wanting ideas JUST for HYP loan? or for HYP in general?
HYP in general.

Anyone tried staking large block just to get sure to have them staking at 9 days? Like you know you will hit the max subsidy, but since you usually have to wait 14 days to stake, you don't really lose that much, thanks to compounding. This would require some maths and some statistics (to know your average block time).
Update: answer from
Quote from: Kushedout on IRC
Kushed> davidlatapie,  that thought has come up. But it’s hard to even calculate since the network difficulty cans fluctuate. So it’s a fine line between staking faster to compound faster vs Longer but risk losing less HYP (if at all). Now we are just gambling man. Smiley

This is just one new address and backup frequency should not be affected since there are 100 spare addresses in a wallet.
We are considering getting rid of this limitation by not using change addresses at all. Among other things, it means your backup will be still useful after months.

About to how to track it, I will use Separate adress for each HYPloan. As in
HyperLoan1 adress: 3216354354sdfsdag3f54ag2423
HyperLoan2 adress: 3216ghjggdtdfsdag3f54ag6364
HyperLoan3 adress: 3216mvryey354sdfsdag3f54a224
HyperLoan4 adress: 3216hdjfhjdfsdag3f54agvbnt5
So when it stacks, it does to each adress, right? or im wrong? That way when 1st receiver give their HYP back, it goes to HyperLoan1 adress, can be loaned again, etc. When enough stack on those adress, just send the batches to a new HyperLoan5, and that can be left for perma stacking in order to give you back the funds, prevent some scam, etc..

Anyway, eventually when we are all Hypillonaires, we should give some HYP to the fund in order to increase magnitude and impact awareness on CryptoLand.

For now, i commit onto distributing all the proceeds of the Loan into "micro-Hyperloaning" to some of my clients in my store.

I'm concerned it cannot scale. Having to handle more and more addresses... I prefer not , at least for the moment. But I'll consider it for later.
Yes, it stakes on each address.

Presstab would it be possible to post a link to the PoS calculator you shared on Polo? Thanks
It's in the new wallet, the beta I believe.
If you compile from source, you can already have it. Beware though, this may be unstable (we detected a major bug in S4C, for instance).
724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: October 28, 2014, 03:19:47 AM
About the movie, we can start very simply by thinking about few questions around Monero :
 - How did you discover Monero ?
 - What interested you at first ?
 - Why are you supporting it ?
 - What is your contribution on the project ?
 - How do you imagine Monero in 3 years ?
You can add or remove questions. The point is to have something interesting to say on every point.
Having different answers will show the variety of people around the project but also how united people are.
Being that you are French I think you should produce the movie.

I will not do it alone. Everyone will participate and I'll find someone competent for the editing.
waxo has some professional contact with filmmakers. He lives in Paris, we are in excellent terms and I plan to see him at the beginning of December. Interested?
725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | Advanced Coin Control Wallet | 11 Markets on: October 28, 2014, 01:14:30 AM
OK, here is an idea for those who get the HYPerloan. They have to set S4C to 10% to either the Bounty Wallet or make a new wallet for HYPerloans only to come out of. Once a month or two has passed then the HYPerloan wallet should be self sufficient and thus no other inputs needed. And once it is big enough then it can stake on its own and can thus give out even more HYPerloans. Kind of what paulsonnumismatics was saying just use S4C to achieve it.

I mean you have to pay interest on any other loan, right? So why not this one too which in turn benefits future HYPerloaners.

Making HYP and helping others at the same time. Sounds very good to me.
I like the idea (although this is still a 0% loan, only the profits are reduced). I you are increasing your chances to get a future loan Smiley

I will ask jaybeeuk to implement it in his wallet (the "S4C to HyperLoan Fund" is easier to implement than the other method, I think). The limitation is on how to verify this is actually being done - I think I will use the filters in the wallet for this.

Update: can't work with present code. I'll ask presstab if it would be difficult to add a code for "only from a given address", so that you do not send to HyperLoan Fund your stake from other addresses than HyperLoan. I think that should be a trigger and I added it as an example use on HyperStake Wikia - Triggers (look for "HyperLoan autofunding").
It looks like an edge case at first, but the you realise that it starts to render the use of a multi-wallet (HBN) less useful. Considering the heavy memory and CPU footprint of multi-wallet, this is quite interesting.

You don't lose the benefit of your contribution, HYPster Smiley

Watching this space its a great concept and idea good luck. Here's to hyp future!
You should promote it to reddit. Maybe also use this picture https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=678849.msg9351764#msg9351764. I let you be the judge.

I have implemented paulsonnumismatics's idea

Now, block 1, 2 et 3 will stake. Block 1 won't have time to stake before being sent to someone else. But block 2 and 3 could very well stake.

It will be difficult to keep track of the stake after a while, since the break the original block, but I'm sure we will find a way.
728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: HyperLoan Logs on: October 28, 2014, 12:00:02 AM
Add me to the list too. HYP sounds interesting, I'd gladly be part of it's community.
Added with a malus (not enough posts by the time of registering, but you can compensate with various methods)
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HYP] HyperStake | 750% PoS | Advanced Coin Control Wallet | 11 Markets on: October 27, 2014, 11:43:22 PM
what can increase our odds of winning just activity and posts?
I'm glad you asked, because I want the community to choose in the future, not me.

First, you should have a minimum of 100 posts. This is not mandatory and is meant to deter sockpuppets. If you prove your involvement, even by only being on IRC, you could get nominated.

Second, try to give an good idea that benefit either HyperLoan alone or the whole of HyperStake (the coin, the community, or both). paulsonnumismatics's idea significantly increased his chances to be the next nominee and kawa900jc's idea too.

There are probably other complementary directions, though.
730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: HyperLoan Logs on: October 27, 2014, 11:34:05 PM
To participate, just ask Smiley You will be added to list of candidates for the next round (presently, round 2).
Update: presently coinmaster222, mailmansDOGE and worhiper_-_

Remember: to be accepted, you must convince the community to choose you among another person.
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / HyperLoan experiment - round 2 on: October 27, 2014, 11:17:33 PM
HyperLoan round 2
What is HyperLoan?HyperLoan logs

How to increase your chances:
  • Every week, you get a +1
  • Contributions give you an edge. This is subjective, you could win above a +10 with an excellent contribution
  • Being recognized as active or worthy by the community
  • Other?

How to decrease your chances:
  • Having less than 100 posts at the time registering will get a -1

Candidates:
Nomination happens every Monday. If paulsonnumismatics' idea  (making HyperLoan Fund stake) works out, there could be more than one candidate a week. That way, we could have even more participants. Of maybe even before that if the community wallet receive more fund (direct or with S4C).

I would like to avoid FIFO nomination (first arrived, first served) because it is unfair and doesn't reflect the involvement - jaybeeuk was chosen on his introduction - I liked this "per aspera ad astra" story of him.

What you, as a nominee (not just a candidate) will have to do:

1. Create a dedicated address in your wallet and post it on the forum, so that anyone can track the progress. If you don't know how to do so, just ask on the forum Smiley
2 Once you have received the 4K HYP, you will start posting on HyperLoan logs about your feedback. It can be just one posts several posts tracking your increasing understanding of HyperStake, questions... and of course, everyone can post there too.
3. At the end of the 30 days, you will send the principal (4k) back to the originating address  pHypLoanFPWT6awN1TYRQ4v3wD3yY1n8KT (courtesy of iDunk).

Happy loaning, happy stacking!

I think that certain people might feel a little threatened that some people that aren't part of what I and a few others call "the old guard", are coming together, asking what users want, and coding it.

733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: First HyperLoan nominee! on: October 27, 2014, 08:20:14 PM
Aw! So close, and , at the same time, so far ;-) Thanks for considering me into top 3! I hope i will still be elegible in the near future as im eager to try HYP in all their full force. In other considerations, will 4K for one week be enough to act to the receiving end like a starter? i mean, will one week stacked coins mean something? I understood its more of some 8 days and for 4-5Ks... As i got it, the whole point of the Experiment was to "give" a new user a complete 4K stack due to 10K stacking for one month... Maybe i missed something?
Ty,
Pablo

You definitely will. Every former candidate will have a +1 scoring for next time. Next nomination is next Monday. You keep the loan for 30 days so at any time, there will be 4 loans running concurrently. "Borrow 4K HYP, give back after 30 days, keep the stake".
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / First HyperLoan winner! on: October 27, 2014, 08:08:32 PM
So, this is the day. The first HyperLoan, the first nominee. Who will be the first one?

I'd like to start by telling you how awe-struck I was by the amount of feedback. Frankly, I did not thought there would be so much people interested. I had to change the rule of the game to leave room for more people, because one person a month would just be unfair. That's why it is now 4k per week and not 10k per month. It costs us more, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

Second, let me tell you this had been a hard decision to take. Eleven persons candidated (the latest one being kronicblazer, not yet on the list, since he candidated only minutes ago). And the burden of choice rested on my shoulders - I expected some kind of community voting but it did not work out. So more stress for me Smiley The fact that the next HyperLoan is next week makes it easier, though.

The candidates are: crypto4jan, jaybeeuk, HYPster, freedomsr40, awangn6600, okae, Butoeskor, paulsonnumismatics, Prints_, eatthetree3 and kronicblazer. Half of them I discussed with before and we've had a great time chatting. Which makes it even harder.

After careful analysis, I ended up with a shortlist of three persons:
  • crypto4jan, b he was ty virtue of being the very first one to candidate (although it seems freedomsr40 was even faster, but on Poloniex and I stupidly left just before he could announce candidacy)
  • jaybeeuk, who wrote an engaging summary of adventuring in CryptoLand
  • paulsonnumismatics, who I know from Mintcoin and Monero and HyperStake - and has great ideas for increasing the adoption of HyperStake.

I will spare you why I decided against one person or another. I did not decided against, but I have to choose...

So, with no further ado, the first nominee for HyperLoan is... jaybeeuk
(I first wanted to bold it and make it center, bigger and navy-coloured, but then you would not have read my text)

Congratulations. You will have to do the following:

735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: What does the new "Return Change" checkbox do? on: October 27, 2014, 07:40:19 PM
I just added this feature. Checking "Return Change" will return the change of your transaction to the sending address, and "custom change" address will send the change to the address of your choice.
I just got some change address today, whilst return change was checked. They might be something to investigate here - unfortunately, I could not reproduce it.

So, what can you do now?
Updated the wikia: What can I do?

Cross-referencing the various googlesheets databases is indeed not the most glorious job one could have, and also does not accept mistakes, for which reason I need to wait a few days before letting any aspiring archivist touch them (which is the plan of course..)
It is possible to transclude character strings from one sheet to another one-really handy, I will show you (transclusion means that you are calling a value, which can be variable, from another sheet and have it displayed on the other sheet).
Example of transclusion (same file and different file)

The XMR deposits[/b] - work similarly as auction results before, but it is more relaxed because there is no exchange rate risk. With some planning, David could issue a permanent personal payment-id for XMR deposit purposes, then it would from a player's point-of-view work similar as any exchange.
As long as I can be sure that no one can abuse your paiment ID (except me or you being terribly unlucky), I am comfortable with the solution that will emerge.

edit: replaced 3.5K with 4K. Decimals are harder to market and 4k will have most people not doing any research hit the wall, which will educate them - that's the point of HyperLoan. Plus jokes about Ultra HD - I let you be creative here.

We should create a carrousel for hyperstake.com. I will propose to squiggie

I have a challenge: let's beat the Monero thread free for all in pagination. I know, it will take time but at least will have nice pictures Smiley Maybe the goal is the same: tank the price of HYP. Doesn't look that effective, though.

He's also pretty damned honest
The number one reason why I teamed up with him.

I have become quite friendly with David in the course of this, but prior to HyperStake, I had only ever interacted with him on the TEK thread, and not very much even then. I only learned he was French after the launch of HYP. Sorry David, but you're the first frenchman who hasn't pissed me off Cheesy
I even learnt things on this thread w00t Smiley
Now that we are on the anecdotes, Biomech, your first name in France is popular in people who are in their twenties now and some years ago, your first name was synonym for "immature pre-teen nerd". Since the popularity of a given name for a given generation change from one country to another, I suppose you are more then 20 (an definitely not a "immature pre-teen nerd", but that was a given) but I still struggle at guessing your age Smiley

HyperLoan candidates so far:
Choice will be done on Monday. You can candidate until Sunday 23:59 UTC. Since there are so many candidates, we decided that instead of waiting 30 days for the next HyperLoan, we would pick a new candidate every Monday and every candidate would have 4K instead of 10k. Part of the reason is tha people don't stake enough to the community wallet - if people stake more, we could consider having more than one new candidate per week.

Regarding the choice in Monday:
  • This is a community choice and if the community cannot reach an agreement, the core team (me and presstab) will chose the person to be selected. The coins will be borrowed by the community wallet.
  • I would like to decide how to choose. First-arrived-first-served is not that great but this is what I will do if I can't find a more collaborative way to decide. Like everything in HyperStake, the process of selection is an experiment and I ask you to find the way to choose. An example of a fairer way to choose is this: every non candidate, please pick a candidate and explain your choice.

People who are not selected will be allowed to candidate again next time. Everytime they are not accepted, they will have an incremental +1 score, so that the older you candidate, the bigger the chance to be selected.

Good work! Looks good to me (I don't have a Rasp to actually test, maybe waxo could) and I discovered the strip command.

Dedicated devs, one of the best coin communities, protections against dumps, useful information and content always being added and improved, HyperStake is the real deal.

I just started the "HyperLoan logs" thread, were loaners will be able to post their feedbacks. And to complete this page, I had to create the HyperLoan page on the wikia.
