721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Be patient for your profit on: January 14, 2018, 08:48:34 AM
There are many who are impatient because they can see that the prices are fast-paced and they can't just wait to be in profit that's why even though they know that they can lose in pump and dump, some are still joining it for instant profits. Our generation today is full of instant things and some cannot just wait even for a week or month to reap some profit so they end up chasing those pumps and then dumping when there is a negative rumor which ends up badly because instead of having profits, they got out with a lose because of panic selling.
722  Economy / Economics / Re: Do bitcoin millonaires deserve their wealth? on: January 14, 2018, 08:28:28 AM
It is know that bitcoin has made a few millionaires, but many of these people don´t have any particular knowledge of the economy nor business. Do you think that is a fair situation?

Yes it is because they have bitcoin when they are still unsure of what will happen to it in the future in which they end up being millionaires. Those people who are risk takers are mostly the one who would end up being successful opposite from those people who are just always comfortable in their comfort zones who are afraid to take risk. We can still see it until now wherein there are still people who are very doubtful of cryptocurrencies and still stuck in investing in stocks and mutual funds because they feel secured with it but those who are willing to try the unknown are so far happy with their decision.
723  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Loss in trading on: January 14, 2018, 07:41:58 AM
I am a newbie, I just want to ask how exactly are you losing your money in trading? Can anybody explain how you lose your money in trading? Correct me if I'm wrong I just think that when you buy high but you sell it in low price I think you lose, right? What if you you buy it at a higher price then the price falls on the next days or week will you loss something? What if you'll just hold for it and wait for the price to bounce back? Thanks for your opinions! ☺️

You are right. You will lose if you buy at a high price and then sell at a low price but you can minimize your losses by buying in portions as the price goes lower so that your average buy price will go down too. If you have a target profit in my mind then you can set it lower having a higher tendency to be hit in case the price pumps or there will be more buyers which can be organic growth or not. As what they say, it is only a paper loss if you don't actually sell it so you will have a choice to just hold your coin until such time when the price goes up.
724  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-01-12] Bitcoin Set for Worst Weekly Slide Since 2015 as Scrutiny Rises on: January 12, 2018, 02:38:57 AM
Bitcoin slumped again on Friday, leaving the largest cryptocurrency heading for its worst weekly performance in three years as regulators around the world step up scrutiny out of concerns ranging from investor losses to strains on power systems.

Bitcoin was trading at $13,019 as of 8:24 a.m. Hong Kong time, putting it on track for a 22 percent slide this week, the deepest since January 2015, according to Bloomberg composite pricing. The token is down about 33 percent from its mid-December peak, which came just after the introduction of futures trading on regulated exchanges in Chicago.

Among the blows to cryptocurrencies this week was the South Korean justice minister’s reiteration of a proposal to ban local cryptocurrency exchanges, though the comments were later downplayed by a spokesman for the president. Meanwhile, bitcoin mining -- the process needed to facilitate transactions -- is set to become more expensive as China’s government cracks down on the industry.

In the U.S., scrutiny is set to increase amid concerns about the potential use of cryptocurrencies for fraudulent purposes such as money laundering. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Jay Clayton and Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo are set to testify to the Senate Banking Committee on risks tied to bitcoin and its counterparts, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter. The committee intends to hold a hearing in early February, the person said.

725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can you sell your altcoins ? on: January 12, 2018, 02:13:51 AM
Hello everybody , I am kind of new to this world.
I have made some investments in the altcoin , I think I have some good coins wich I can trust more in my portofolio like PRL , Onions , Dubai Coin and in my opinion Potcoin also.
I also have some coins like Verge , Power Ledger , Dogecoin in wich I dont have that much trust but I really just can't sell them , I'm like afraid that they will rise good and I will regret selling them.
I have some coins on my mind wich I will also like to add to my portofolio but it seems like my only option is to deposit more fiat money and buy them also , because I really can't convince myself to sell any coin Smiley.
Do any have this problem, have this fear of selling altcoins before they rise from the buy price , I really can't give up on anything I buy If it doesnt make a huge jump to generate some profit Smiley

Sometimes I am thinking of the possibility that what if I sell this coins now and then it moons then I would miss a lot of profit and then there is a possibility as well that the price would go down which in effect I would have lesser profits so it is about having a plan of when to take profit because sometimes because of greediness I end up in a loss selling it below my buy price because I am still hoping for the price to go up. I sell my altcoins depending on my plan like if the altcoin is newly listed then there is a tendency for it to double, or even 10x in price so I would just sell half of it when I double the value so that I am only playing with profits and I am not so stressed that way watching the price from time to time.
726  Economy / Economics / Re: Becoming wealthy and social responsibility on: January 12, 2018, 01:49:40 AM
While I don't have many posts. I got involved in Bitcoin in 2013 and joined this forum in 2014. While I do not consider myself wealthy from Bitcoin yet. I do have an idea of how I would like to direct some of this new found wealth. I think most of the people who got involved early got involved for the right reasons. IE: To change the world and move humanity out of the control of the bankers. I am concerned that the new people coming may only be in to make money. I hope I am wrong, I really want this technology to be a force of good in the world and deliver economic freedom to the masses and the unbanked. My hope is everyone who was early, has some idea in mind that will help others. Maybe help your family, or a charity that you think isn't wasting money, or building a community swimming pool etc. If you have a lot of money think big and how you can change the world for the better. This is our chance!

I am pretty sure there are those that got involved early and may declare as well that they are already retired since they earned enough for their lifetime that are helping the community now. You can see that there are various charities running with bitcoin as funds and some of them are run by the people who are early adopters. I may not be that early in being involved in cryptocurrency and I don't have that much money yet but given the opportunity, I would also like to help people so that at least they can provide for their family by having a business through my earnings in crypto and give jobs to other people.
727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KFC to accept Bitcoin! on: January 12, 2018, 01:30:35 AM

Even though it would be good for exposure of bitcoin, it is impractical for me to purchase a $20 bucket and pay much higher in transaction fee. Besides, if you are just craving for a chicken and you want to eat it as soon as possible, you can have the option of just paying fiat which would be faster since you can do it instantly. Even though the purpose of bitcoin is to be a replacement for fiat, you can't do it for now due to network congestion resulting to a high transaction fee. Maybe KFC can have the option of using other cryptocurrencies since there are a lot of options out there.
728  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Trading! on: January 11, 2018, 03:11:36 AM
I am a beginner in the field of bitcoin trading, want to know whether success in trading depends more on experience or on skills.

Skills are acquired so you will have the skills to trade if you have the experience. You can read all the articles, guides, books or watch videos about trading but doing it by yourself makes it a whole of difference. You will get to experience how to control your emotioms during trading because it is one of the key for you to become successful. Technical analysis, fundamental analysis and trading psychology are the key and you can be good by these three areas only by experience since you would be good in research, you would know what indicators to look at and then you would have a grasp of how crypto market works.
729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I buy altcoins with BTC or ETH? on: January 11, 2018, 02:52:53 AM
I’m using Binance. Should I buy altcoins using BTC or ETH?? Does is make a difference??

The difference would be upon depositing or withdrawing BTC or ETH because it would be more preferable to use ETH since you can have a faster and lower transaction fee compared to bitcoin. When it comes to the price of the coin then it would make no difference because when the coin rise up in value then it would rise whether the base coin is BTC or ETH. There would be more trading volume though when the pair is in BTC compared to ETH but then ETH is more stable in BTC. If you are just depositing to binance then ETH would be better for the reasons stated above.
730  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day Trading Pros and Cons on: January 11, 2018, 02:20:00 AM
Is day trading more beneficial compared to long term investments in alts?
What are the pros and cons of day trading?

If a trader would like to answer, it would really be grate.

You can accumulate more coins if you are day trading and you have a trading plan in which you know when to enter a trade and exit as well. There are many people who do not want to day trade because they tend to panic buy or sell and at the end of the day it would have been better if they hold their coins. I can see so many instances wherein it would have been better if you buy and hold the coin because you could have sold it at a lower price but think also of the possibility that if you just hold your coins and it goes lower, you cut loss and then buy another coin which moons then you would have a better position. It depends on the coin you would buy and your strategy in trading that would determine whether it is more beneficial to day trade or not.
731  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is day-trading cryptocurrency profitable? - Need opinion from traders on: January 10, 2018, 03:08:32 AM
You can still profit in day trading because the market is so volatile and if you know what you are doing then you can have a good profit in it. However, day trading is sometimes so stressful because you have to watch the market all the time because there is a possibility of a pump and dump in the coin you have bought so there are others who suggest to just buy and hold and then wait for sometime for your coin to grow in price. If the coin has active developers and their project is viable then more often than not, your holdings will multiply in value in the future. Just observed the growth of coins in the market.
732  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has the Tide Shifted? on: January 10, 2018, 02:58:26 AM
It's always been said "Never short Bitcoins"

That's been the lingo up until now and it holds true. People shorting Bitcoins often got hurt.

However will the tide shift now? It seems like Bitcoin will form a pyramid shape with $20,000 being it's apex.

Will there be a new lingo of "Never go long on Bitcoins"?

A big sign of Bitcon's demise: Bulltards making many reverse FUD threads with multiple accounts.

There have been a number of traders who have been burned because of shorting bitcoin but for those who knows how to manage risk can still do so. Bitcoin  has been rapidly increasing and decreasing lately in thousands of dollars so for those who know how to read charts have been very profitable. Attempting to short bitcoin when you are just starting to learn trading is just like giving out your money freely because a single trade can wipe out your funds. I believe that it is just a temporary dip in bitcoin and will be back in the ling side sooner or later.
733  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Poor support on exchanges on: January 10, 2018, 02:15:34 AM
The surge of users makes it more difficult for the support on exchanges to address the issues immediately. This is a discouragement because they are earning so much money from all the users so at least they should have a number of support who can address the problem of users as soon as possible but it should just not exceed for a month or even a week. I have known some whose issues are still not addressed and its been a few months already. I do hope that for those exchanges who have a good support for now would continue to their quality service an for those ICOs, they should take into account that one of the keys for their exchange to attract more users is the active support.
734  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Rise of Crypto Bookkeepers and Accountant on: January 10, 2018, 01:31:21 AM
The big four accounting firms are already active in the blockchain world and some of them even accept bitcoin as payment for their services so I am sure they already have a plan on how to go about the computation of gains and profits so that right amount of taxes can be applied. If they are already in it then the small ones would follow suit because accountants and bookkeepers should always be up to date when it comes to financial matters. As we are heading towards the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency then the rise of those who are recording and auditing would be in demand as well.
735  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-01-08]Fund Managers Say Bitcoin ETF Proposals Withdrawn Due To SEC Concern on: January 09, 2018, 03:28:41 AM
Two U.S. companies shelved proposals to launch bitcoin exchange-traded funds, citing ongoing concerns by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), filings showed on Monday.

Staff at the regulatory agency "expressed concerns regarding the liquidity and valuation" of futures contracts based on the digital asset, according to one of the filings.

The move adds a new hurdle to the bid by Wall Street firms to capitalize on investor interest in cryptocurrencies, and it opens a rare public divergence between two financial regulatory agencies over how to regulate them.

Trusts controlled by Rafferty Asset Management LLC and Exchange Traded Concepts LLC each canceled plans to launch three bitcoin funds that could be traded by retail investors as easily as stocks. Neither firm could be reached for comment.

Fund managers thought the proposals had a chance at winning approval given the launch last month of futures contracts based on bitcoin on both the CME and the CBOE exchanges.

Regulators have been scrambling to figure out how to deal with this relatively new asset, and no single one has control.

The SEC has dominion over funds, while the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) governs futures contracts. The CFTC has been under pressure to address concerns it did not fully assess the potential risks that bitcoin poses to the financial system.

Bitcoin is a virtual asset that can be used to move money around the world quickly and with relative anonymity, without the need for a central authority, such as a bank or government. Trading has been expensive, difficult and fraught with wild price swings.

The SEC's decisions also face close scrutiny given its power to clear the way for products that could be among the more volatile traded in U.S. equity markets.

The SEC and the CFTC could not immediately be reached for comment.

One of the ETFs being proposed would be designed to rise or fall in price twice as fast as the price of bitcoin on a given day. Over the last two years alone, bitcoin has gained or lost more than 10 percent on a single day 26 different times, according to data from the Bitstamp exchange.

Bitcoin's price was little changed at about $15,000 Monday evening on the Bitstamp exchange.

736  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to make your project successful? on: January 09, 2018, 02:57:20 AM
Marketing, viability of the project and the team behind would be the keys in order for your project to be successful. That would be the reason why some projects spent big amount in their bounty campaigns so that there would be more people promoting their project. The viability of a project and the constant update of the activity of the developers would make the investors trust the project more. There should always be open communication and if the team can follow their roadmap then investors would continue to support it. In crypto world, the coin that are always up to date are getting ahead.
737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ICO or buy later on exchange ? on: January 09, 2018, 02:23:01 AM
Usually, your advantage during ICO is that you will get bonus tokens but then you will not know the price of the coin when it hit the exchanges and if that ICO has a bounty campaign then upon the distribution of bounties, some bounty hunters would dump their coins immediately causing for a drop in price. Some would stay low for months and some projects would just shoot up in price upon hitting the exchanges because when a project has a really big potential and some investors cannot invest because they are from a country restricted in joining ICOs then they would buy the coin when it is on exchanges that's why price would go high in just a few days or weeks. There are some projects though who are late bloomers and it takes some time for them before surpassing the ICO price.
738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Binance Why on: January 09, 2018, 02:00:39 AM
That's why you trade with BNB, pay the fees with it and cut them in half.

Unfortunately, you can't do something about the dust but if you wanted to have the whole coin then you can change your trading fee to BNB and then have a 50% discount. The discount is temporary though because it would be reduced annually. I hope they can do something about the dust because if they add up all the dust of the users then it would still accumulate to a bigger amount. I registered in binance because of the issues in bittrex recently and fortunately, some coins that are listed there and not in bittrex is mooning so I was able to get on the ride.
739  Economy / Economics / Re: 18% of Investors Buy Bitcoin With Borrowed Money on: January 08, 2018, 03:11:50 AM
not all people rich, especially from third world. with the accuracy of the analysis and calculation, they can gain a bit of profit from investing in bitcoin
Even though they earned profit from investing with bitcoin, but it's gonna be hard making investment using borrowed money because they think also for the interest of it. But anyway, somewhat to say "no pain no gain". Their trust towards bitcoin really give them courage to take the risk and believing that they can make huge money from here.

It is very risky on their part using borrowed money to buy bitcoin but majority of those who bought have been able to pay their debt so good for them. For those who wasn't able to pay though may have bough bitcoin when it is around $18k above and they are at a loss now and surely not happy with their decision if they are just waiting for bitcoin to go up again but if they traded in other coins and gained much more then good for them. There is quite a surge  in altcoin lately and maybe someone was able to buy XRP, TRX or VEN when it is still cheap so they have multiplied their money already. Well surely the advise of invest what you can afford to lose is not applicable to them.
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Recently etherdelta congestion, and why? on: January 08, 2018, 02:57:21 AM
I've been having a hard time getting my transactions process lately because if I have lower gas fee then an error would appear. The only solution is to increase my gas fee so that transactions can be process. They stop listing coins until such time when their TGE is finish in a few days time so I believe there would be more network congestion when they start listing again. I do hope they can do something about the congestion. There are certainly gems out there since most of the time, tokens are first listed there before being listed in a bigger exchange but the slow transaction process and higher gas fee is discouraging.
