And yes, I'll ask developer if 'proof-of-store' can be added now, maybe it is possible.
Maybe the dev is more interested in an open discussion here, instead of a private conversation with you Oh, and BTW I am not bashing early adopters (I have profited of being an early adopter of many coins), just stressing that putting most coins on hands of early adopters is not on the coins best interest IMHO. TBH I am not much interested in trading Datacoin but I am really interested to see what can be built on top of it. It seems the OP has great plans (for example personal chains ) and would be great to be able to discuss some of them here (or elsewhere) with him. I meant that I'll ask developer to look at this message - not only private talk Applications are coming, I'm sure - I have some info about it, but don't want to reveal all just now. Projects developers will release some info themselves soon

The block reward compared to storage cost is ridiculously low. 500 DTC/block would make sense.
A balance should be met between available storage and available coins, and storage should be expensive because you are paying for a distributed, permanent, censorship resistant storage. However something must be done to reward those who keep that storage online, I recall a thread here in the alt section that talked about proof-of-storage . Maybe the dev wants to take a look at that thread. I'm one of early adopters (yes, I'm speaking about it decently), and I donate to many people when they do anything for Datacoin, I'll donate to 'store files forever' project (look on main site), and any other projects that will be interesting and useful. Both wallets use the whole blockchain, of course. Reward is not 10x or 100x less than initial - it is only <2 times lower (compare it with many other coins that decreased 10x, 100x after such great difficulty increase)

Is there someone willing to sell Datacoin bellow market price (or donate) to me ? DLjcy3vu8KhMGbqbEtRcrGQUEweuMpiZqs I have been building a website to help people get/put data from the blockchain, the site is almost done but I want to do some testing before opening it to beta, it's just I don't want to spend my few DTC testing. Considering a full block of data costs almost 50 DTC, storage is REALLY EXPENSIVE and DTC are really hard to mine in comparison. On a sidenote, is the testnet working ? I might go this way if I can't get cheap or free DTC ... Expect a semi-open beta in a day or two (or three ). how many coins do you need?

All attention: Someone posted a pretty legit suggestion on Reddit to try to solve the 90% release within the 6 months period which is a drawback as we have heard. I quote: We need a fork of Quarkcoin "Quarkcoin's hashing mechanism was a great idea. What wasn't a great idea however is releasing 90% or so of coins in a period of six months. We need a fork that gets rid of the insane early adopter's reward. Who's with me?" Some already backed this plan. Here is the link: http://www.reddit.com/r/QuarkCoin/comments/1rzlea/we_need_a_fork_of_quarkcoin/Let's all cooperate, i believe if this issue is solved. Quark will see huge gains! How this issue can be solved with current Quark version?

|
I never understand that, someone comes in with say 300,000 quarks, but decides they want to sell NOW. They crash the market 25%, then it bounces straight back afterwards. Result is that the person with 300.000 quarks has lost out on bitcoins and the little fish have gained some cheap coins.
It seems ridiculous, but it happens pretty frequently.
Seems that there is really a lot of ridiculous decisions in QRK. It's not single example - tons of them, people are selling and selling and selling "just now". We could reach price at least $0.5 during weekend, but... It's most likely them buying them back at a cheaper price. When they make the market crash (buy dumping all of those coins) noobs panic and sell their coins too expecting it to drop further. Mr 300,000 then jumps in at the lower price established as a result of the panic and makes a extra few thousand coins. Sounds correct for 'sudden dump', like it was with BTC on Saturday, but now it it not sudden - it lasts many hours.

Seems that someone is trying to lower QRK price as much as possible, last 24 hours I saw a lot of orders that were up to 1.5x lower than 'buy orders'

Datacoin huh, I have to admit I like the name. If I may suggest an idea to help promote DTC. The character in Star Trek called Data might be an option to help promote your coin.
hmm, good thought!

datacoin and grid coin should be added next!
Yes, I hope so!
|
|

And people are worried about bitcoin's blockchain being bloated...
What are you talking about?

There was menu issue - now it is fixed, look now!

I think you can point jhProtominer at Datacoin-qt, not sure.
If anyone wants to try:
Help -> Debug console -> Console and type in: setgenerate true 0
Then point the miner at the ip:port.
Will test aswell soon
-mstfck
I tried to point jhProtominer at a local datacoind without luck. I am trying all this stuff on linux CLI, and don't have a QT wallet built yet as I am on a mac. All the versions of jhProtominer that I found are trying to use the "x.pushthrough(xpt) protocol" , I thought DTC required the getwork method now? just now - yes, only getwork.

I vote for Datacoin, but I also respect idea of Gridcoin. But these two coins are not competitors of course - different purposes.

We are proud to say that our work at site design is nearly finished. Today we present you main page of the site with fully new design (other pages will be re-designed soon in the same manner) Please look at http://datacoin.infoAlso you can see promo there Just look at it: Special thanks to our designer Zorrosv! You can donate him some DTC , you can see his wallet there: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=349920.msg3753367#msg3753367

look at the depth there. that tell it all. people not trade much with CoinE because they have problem with it.
Max - I suggest you use the site for a few trades then come back here with your opinion.
Thank you for updating! Yes, I looked into coins-e. So I'll be bumping my post with voting on Cryptsy

Just checked Coins-E DTC trade - extremely fast, clear, funds managing correctly. Kind of happiness after other exchanges lags Coins-E stole/lost a lot of our coins. Before trying to pump your coin at least make others aware of the potential pitfalls of trading there. hmm, really? Now there are a lot of claims for all exchanges: cryptsy, bter, coins-e, btc-e too... Could you please give me some proofs ?

Looks like you will need to look for a new pool developer. Main developer and some developers of unofficial DTC team work with that. Did you mean that you want to help with pool? I mean't that as far as I know that the ypool developer said no. Although if your offering then I wouldn't mind helping out with graphical design and front end website development. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. After we finish backend...
