All this talk & hype about SpreadCoin & masternodes or servicenodes or whatever you guys are calling it yet other altcoins are dropping masternodes out their ass upon release...

What hype?  We haven't even got to proof of concept stage for our first services yet.

Yeah check out all this HYPE!!!!

It really shows Spreadcoin and how everyone is so HYPED about spreadnodes.  Roll Eyes

Edit: OMFG Why can I not remember SERVICENODES  Embarrassed
742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IBM Bitcoin Rain on: May 28, 2015, 10:09:19 AM
Does anyone know how much Bitcoin each participant recieved?

50k is a lot of money. If there was 1k people then there would be $50 for everyone.
Did anyone on the forums attend the event?
743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin algo change mean hours/days to confirm a block?? on: May 28, 2015, 10:02:05 AM
This understand is wrong. It's okay, I've been there.
Theoretically the current ASICs would work on SHA-512 but their hashrate would be halved. It would take 20 minutes for a block then, until the next difficulty adjustment. Things would be normal after that.

No because the developers aren't complete retards. They would reset the difficulty or at least bring it down a lot.

Do you really think the developers would do that? Put bitcoin in jeopardy and many mining farms out of business?
Resetting the difficulty? That's the worst move possible.
51% attacks everywhere?  Cheesy
Yeah, I was really meaning bringing the difficulty down a lot. Although they would probably test it on the testnet for a while then bring it to main net at the current testnet diff + 10 000 or something Smiley

For god's sake, I have no idea who you are but I don't like my picture floating around everywhere.
Seriously why did you create that account?

You're probably hugabase. Oh wait no, he has no spaces before or after his punctuation.
746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin algo change mean hours/days to confirm a block?? on: May 28, 2015, 08:54:44 AM
WOW!!!
This just hit me.

If Bitcoin was to change algorithm (in case Sha-256 is breached or whatever), then there wouldn't be any 10 minute (+/-) block solving for a while.
If it moved to let's say Sha-512 with the current difficulty and NO ASICs, it would take forever to verify a block wouldn't it?
At least until the difficulty dropped to levels that are manageable, right?

No because the developers aren't complete retards. They would reset the difficulty or at least bring it down a lot.

747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Does it really matter who Satoshi is? on: May 28, 2015, 08:50:09 AM
Yes, because if it was created by the government, then I am sure many people would wonder why.
There are so many stupid theories to satoshi.

Here is one:

SATOSHI
5470541

5 - Five words in this sentence

4 - 4 x 4 = 16,       6 - 1 = 5,    the previous number. Coincidence? I think not.

7 - SEVEN has 5 letters in it. Letters are enclosed in envelopes. Envelopes have addresses written on them. Bitcoin has addresses.

0 = Nothing. The government thinks nothing of bitcoin

5 - Five is the fifth number, numbers is a crappy Apple Inc. ripoff of Microsoft Excel. Bitcoin was created to excel. Oh come on, these can't just be coincidences, can they?

4 - Four, for    There are two different fours. Two, to, too   There are 3 different twos. 4x3x2=24 |  2x4 = 8 | 8^four = 4096 | 4096 is made of four numbers.

I - 1 is a prime number and it also isn't a prime number. Therefore it is in a superposition. Atoms are in superpositions in Quantum computers. Quantum computers are thought to break bitcoin.

Come on guys the answers are staring at us in the face!! These cannot be coincidences, can they?
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: May 28, 2015, 08:24:49 AM
Why are you guys working so hard on something that can be done simply, all coins use masternodes now pretty much why can't you just release it.

All this talk & hype about SpreadCoin & masternodes or servicenodes or whatever you guys are calling it yet other altcoins are dropping masternodes out their ass upon release...
Its because this is a quality coin. Our Servicenodes are going to be a lot more advanced than those copy paste coins.
If you think that Spreadcoin is not as good then why do you care so much as to post that?

Your username suits you.  Cool

Bantercoin is my attempt at creating my own Cryptocurrency.

And it doesn't exist yet! Tongue
That's why I need YOU!
Yes you! The guy who is reading this post! If you would like to help me create mayhem you can do so by adding me on AIM so we can talk easier. My AIM Name is thebantanium.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

too formal.

In a bit,

Just please don't use POS.
Maybe use a CPU only mineable algorythm, then after 3 months create a GPU miner for your algo.
This will then boost the price a lot because now you need more computational power to mine your coin.

It worked with Spreadcoin, It'll work with your coin. Smiley
753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it? on: May 27, 2015, 08:09:51 PM
I have told a few friends about it and only one really cares. The others are too young to realise what bitcoin can acomplish.

You also need to understand how to government works and why money is worthless to realise bitcoin is better in every way.

The only friend that did accept it only mined altcoins but he was a noob and needed my help to set his stuff up.
754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 20mb block increase = 20 times more transactions possible? on: May 27, 2015, 11:55:43 AM
1 block up to 20MB in size every 10 minutes on average is cool but it could be a dissaster if couple of such blocks are generated just few seconds appart by the same miner or miners that agreed on longest chain. It also does nothing in terms of speeding up the process of transaction confirmations, waiting over an hour for 1st confirm would still occur so how about 5 blocks up to 4MB in size every 2 minutes on average? Makes perfect sense to me but feel free to debate, I might be missing something with this whole deal.
Having blocks come quicker provides no advantage over 10min blocks. Why?

The same hashing power; faster blocks means more orphans and if we had 1 block every minute, we would have 10x less security from a double spending attack. Right now a doublespend would take ~ 2 hours, if 50% hashpower was used. (actually i'm probably wrong, its longer)

Now if we reduce blocks to 1 minute blocks it will take far less power to doublespend and a quicker time.

Basically, faster blocks will be less secure, cause more orphans and pretty much just bloat the blockchain. So yes, you are missing something. Smiley
755  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: "Public Note" on blockchain? on: May 27, 2015, 11:48:57 AM

Just ignore it and enjoy your free dust.
Yeah, over $200 worth of dust.
Unless that is in Zimbabwe Dollars. Smiley I'd laugh if it was US dollars.

But yeah, that is just advertising spam. They probably got your address off a website somewhere.
756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thanks Google....For subconsciously linking Bitcoin to ISIS (Google "what is bit on: May 27, 2015, 11:44:47 AM
Well it IS what it IS.
The funny thing is, the US government created ISIS. Well, at least thats what I keep hearing.
Anyway, I think that if paypal didn't have english subtitles and it defaulted to arabic, then would you say paypal is linked to ISIS?
757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: May 27, 2015, 11:35:06 AM
How's masternodes doing?
I want to know this too. I just picked up 400 spr for 0.02 btc, What a bargain!
Anyway, I know georgem is working on a new wallet update, but I am unsure if he is also going to release a masternode testing wallet.
758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin recover from another 90bn coins hack? on: May 27, 2015, 07:46:38 AM
If smething big happens that could "break" Bitcoin, transfer to Litecoin, the safe haven coin.

If something big happens and breaks Bitcoin, then Litecoin will follow.
Besides, how do you transfer broken Bitcoins to Litecoins?
Exactly, unless it is an exploit in SHA256. Which in that case, Litecoin, a scrypt mining algo based coin would be safe.
But this would never happen as SHA256 is considered to be VERY secure. If it was broken, then many other services (not related to bitcoin) will also break.
759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How soon we will need a new algorithm? on: May 27, 2015, 07:39:22 AM
A little too much math for me.

Can someone explain in simple terms?
Basically with POW, power goes in (mining) and coins come out.
With POS, nothing except time (staking) goes in, and coins come out.

This is why I feel POS coins are not worth anything at all.
760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: May 27, 2015, 07:29:43 AM
I honestly didn't expect to see it this low again, I suppose I'll buy some btc.  Are we still a few weeks away from testnet, or has any progress been made recently?
I really should have kept my buy at 5k, oh well, hopefully my next week I'll have a little btc.
