I watched an impressive argument against SOPA and internet censorship today by Amir on Max Keiser on RT. Bitcoin is back and Max is in the fray. Hopefully someone will find a recording link.

Without understanding the details, even I can see there is a lot of evolving going on that is making Bitcoin something wonderful.

I've been wondering when someone would write this. Is there now a general consensus of where Bitcoin is going?

All good questions. If I knew what is not yet known, I would be prescient. Science rejecting the useless facts is how we find the solutions to problems whether we have already discovered them or not.

Bitcoin is not just money. It is also a fundamentally new instrument for measuring social interactions. You have to wonder what the inventor of the microscope thought he might discover.

You can't choose facts. So, it's not so much that we need to solve a problem. Discovery is more about creating problems that didn't exist before as much as solving old problems.

For the long term I suggest at least 1 Bitcoin. It's like a lottery ticket, either Bitcoin will be worth a lot or it will fail. Either way, it's not a big risk.

I can't imagine what codec you are using. I've had real-time digital video editing since 1996. Trading drive space for compression is rarely worthwhile and you should use the least compression possible to avoid artifact concatenation or in your case extreme rendering times just to avoid loss. Drive space is cheap nowadays and your final rendering to the distribution media should be the last step and should go pretty fast if you use youtube's codec.

Sure. Gold was confiscated by FDR in 1933. That's not necessarily a bad thing if we use Bitcoin to back the economy through official govt channels.

Basically, the exchanges follow the price history of mtgox. Mtgox is the fiat authority for major fluctuations. Because price is what "we" want it to be, it is mostly psychological. I have been advocating for a statistical base for price averaging as a psychological factor in price reporting. Because Bitcoin is math based, I feel it's only fitting to have math serve to buffer the price from wild swings rather than depend on mtgox.
