WTF did I just see? Djokovic has demolished Alcaraz in the opening set 6:1! One way traffic baby! Alcaraz is leading now 1:0 in the second but frankly things are not going great for him.

WTA final live now. Jabeur lost the first set to Vondrousova by making loads of unforced errors. In a couple of last games of the first set she could return a single serve. She lost the opening set 4:6. Right now, second set is under way and it's 4:3 Jabeur. Her quality of play has improved considerably and I'm hoping to see the third set.

Because he's the most anti-bitcoin person with some kind of power in the Cryto universe.
Because he is lying continuously about his license, about his #safu fund, about everything he can, he will lie he is fleeing a country and threating journalists with lawsuits right on his plane.
Because he is doing everything he can to hurt Bitcoin, by asking for higher fees for segwit, for asking enormous fees for the real chain, for promoting his own tokenized version, for not thinking a second before doing anything to hurt it, like the bullshit about halting withdrawals during the last mempool clog, like saying they should rewrite the chain to get hi stolen funds back, everything!

Bullshit! Every government, every bank in the world is way more anti-bitcoin than CZ. They are the real opposition, real foes of Bitcoin. Governments, media, banks have been lying to you for years, decades, even centuries but CZ is to blame, right? In fact, they're trying to make you believe CZ is guilty in all the deadly sins to distract your attention from their own crimes.

None of us will be around by 2140 so it doesn’t really matter.

Plot twist: something happens (mass adoption of quantum computers etc) and 2140 turns into 2040. I'm not sure if this is possible though as Bitcoin algo adjusts in case the blocks start being found too frequently.

to quote myself, Eubanks had good match, and provided some gains
but, I did not cash-out when possible after third set on a win, and should do that, but at that moment expected to see Eubanks winning this one, and he could do that in fourth set, fifth was just a formality

will be interesting to see Alcaraz against Medvedev, but I think that Medvedev is without chances to take even set there, should be straight sets for Alcaraz, will check odds and probably have it like that

Good performance from Alcaraz. Both waited for mistakes from the opponent and Alcaraz was more consistent overall in terms of performance than Rune

Eubanks as expected from me, did not disappoint me. The fact that he managed to play 5 sets in the quarter-finals shows that we have to expect more from him in the future. It seems he have lost concentration in set 5.
At Thursday the mens have a day off and at Friday the semi-finals will be played.

It was refreshing to see how the guy called Eubanks played against Medvedev. I have never heard of him before and it seems that he was about to give up professional tennis. The telegraph and some other news outlets have written that he was on his way to a different career path as a commentator. I love life stories like that. A player decides to end the career and then to his own surprise almost beats Medvedev in a Wimbledon quarter-final.

Alcaraz was strong and he is looking good and confident. I don't own a crystal ball but I think that both Djokovic and Alcaraz are too stable and focused to fail in the semi-finals.
Everyone underestimated Carlos. They said he couldn't play great on the grass. He won the Queen's Tournament and is now in the Wimbledon final. He is not like next or new gen players. He has the qualities and fabric of the big three. He learns everything very quickly. He became a grass court specialist in three weeks. And I think he learned a lot in the Roland Garros semi-final against Novak. I think he might even win Wimbledon. These beastly forehands, this unbelievable speed, three weeks of returns to another level... I don't want to exaggerate but Carlos has quite a high chance in my opinion. Djokovic is djokovic and he is of course favourite but I am open to surprise.

Carlitos was great, I agree. His game in semifinal today was awesome. It was like some next level tennis, I swear he knew exactly where Medvedev is going to direct his next shot. Crazy shit guys, that level of tennis is crazy. I won't be betting on the final though. It's anybody's match imho. Still I believe that if his body won't let him down this time he will beat Nole.

BTW, Alcaraz can be the first ever person in history to win both the tournament right before Wimbledon (Queen's) and Wimbledon.

Former Celsius CEO Alex Mashinsky reportedly arrested
https://cointelegraph.com/news/celsius-ceo-alex-mashinsky-arrested

There are a few topics about Celsius and this PoS but I think that if the reports are confirmed, we need a topic for the celebration

Quote
The former CEO of now-bankrupt crypto lender Celsius, Alex Mashinsky, was reportedly arrested on the morning of July 13. The news broke minutes after the United States Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against the crypto lender on the same day.

The former CEO was reportedly arrested after a probe into the company’s collapse, reported Bloomberg citing people familiar with the matter. The US Department of Justice indicted Mashinsky on charges of fraud and intention to manipulate the market.

Bloomberg source (might be paywalled)
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-07-13/sec-files-lawsuit-against-celsius-network-alex-mashinsky

Now, with a bit of luck, taking into account Celsius collapsed in June and FTX in November, then in a few months we might have another good piece of news.
So Mashinsky down, Do Kwon arrested, SBF close to prison time, when CZ?  Grin

Unlike these guys, CZ is not a criminal. He didn't steal anyone's money and run away with it. All he did, he refused to ban Russian users when the US requested it. He immediately got some ridiculous claims of breaking some rules in the US. But you know what? Binance can close the US business completely and still survive it. Have you heard about "too big to fail"?

There are reasons for everything that happens. Both the growth of Brand oil and the fall of the ruble Smiley
There is no reason to talk about Urals trade at 60 dollars with India, when settlements are made with discounts, in rupees and in addition a significant part of the money from these supplies is simply frozen ! Don't hesitate to read Russian news, even there they write about "unfriendly behavior of Indian partners" Smiley

Care to explain this?

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/russian-oil-discount-shrinks-87-to-4/barrel-as-sellers-game-shipping-insurance-to-skirt-g7-price-cap/articleshow/101619068.cms?from=mdr

As per Indian sources, the discount on Russian crude has decreased to almost nothing. Average discounts are now around $4 per barrel, compared to sharp markdowns of $25 to $30 per barrel that the Indian traders enjoyed a few months ago.

Also, this:

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/07/13/energy/russian-oil-price-cap-breached/index.html

The price of Urals crude has gone past $60 per barrel, which was the limit set by Western countries while implementing their price cap. And I think it will go up even further, as the Brent crude prices have gone past $80 per barrel. In the market there is a shortage of supply as a result of production cuts from Russia and Saudi Arabia.

I bet he can't explain. DrBeer is living in an imaginary world of Ukrainian propaganda. A world full of $30/barrel oil, Russia splitting into 5 separate states, Putin dying of cancer twice a day (every day), Ukraine getting Crimea and Donbass back this year, every single country in the world joining NATO, Ukraine defeating Russia and similar ridiculous stuff.  Grin

The price of oil is going up, you can tell just by visiting your local gas station. Ruble is going down, that's a fact too. Mostly due to Prigozhin's mutiny. Prigozhin is a mercenary, so there's big chance he got paid to do it by some other "customer" if you know what I mean. Anyway, I think this effect is temporary and ruble will recover soon-ish. Prigozhin is already back in Putin's lap, planning some offensive from Belarus or whatever.

WTA semis: Marketa Vondrousova has just breezed past Svitolina 6:3, 6:3. Interestingly, she was winning 4:0 and 40:0 in her serve game and managed to lose that game and two more games later on (one of them being a serve game). But all in all very good serve, lots of dropshots, some aggressive slices and she managed to win eventually. She will meet the winner of Sabalenka v Jabeur in the final. My bet will be on Sabalenka, although that is going to be a very close match.
It's a shame Sabalenka lost in 3 sets it's quite a shame how she lost after being able to win the first set through a tie break and the second set was already 4-2 up but Jabeur did better to take the second set and the decisive set Sabalenka still couldn't find her best performance a lot of her serve can't give points.
In the final between Vondroušová vs Jabeur, the Tunisian is favorite in the final laters and Vondroušová seems to have a bit of an injury maybe this will affect her appearance in the final later, this is the second final for both players at a Grand Slam so this will be their first title.
I'm going to stick with Vondroušová even though Jabeur on grass is a good player but Vondroušová also managed to beat fourth seed Pegula so it's extra credit to her in the finals.

Ons seems to be very determined and her goal is a Wimbledon title undoubtedly. After reaching the final last year all she wants is a title and nothing less. She defeated Sabalenka in a similar manner she defeated Rybakina in the previous round. Three sets, coming back from losing first set tiebreak etc. It just shows how bad she wants this title.

Alcaraz won his match against Berrettini and is through to the quarter-final 3-6 6-3 6-3 6-3. Quite a comfortable win against a serious opponent. In the final set Alcaraz easily broke the Italian (it's unbelievable how this huge tall guy failed to win his server game) and guaranteed himself a place in the quarter-final. Alcaraz will face Holger Rune in the next round.

You will definitely be welcome here, as you are a long time participant in this campaign before. But you also have to be more professional as a legend in terms of writing down the number of merits in 120 days, because all you have is 30 merits in 120 days, not 50+. Yes, my bad, I copypasted my last application to this campaign without checking the merits and some seem to have burned meanwhile. It doesn't matter much though as I have priority here as an existing participant. Thanks for correcting anyway.

Teen prodigy Andreeva is entering Week 2 of Wimbledon after defeating fellow Russian Potapova in straight sets 6-2 7-5. She came back in second from 1:4. Potapova did her best but it wasn't enough - Andreeva guaranteed herself a spot in the next round against Keys.

Among other exciting results I'd like to point out Swiatek surviving 2 match points and defeating Bencic in 3 sets.

P.S. Watching Djokovic v Hurkacz right now - 5:4 Hurkacz but Djokovic serving atm.

Zverev v Berrettini under way now with the Italian leading 2 sets to 0. A bit of a surprise isn't it? I didn't bet on this match because it looked anybody's match to me. Too risky to bet.  Cool
777  Economy / Economics / Re: Fix the money, Fix the world. on: July 07, 2023, 10:47:14 PM
The Rich/Government has used money as a tool to oppress the poor in a way that they practically use it to control everything in the world with the help of financial institutions.

The high class as they are called has maintained dominance in everything, not to be bitcoin biased or cynical, but in this case, I see Bitcoin as the alternative to this controversy and if we want to eliminate the power that is intoxicating us, then we must advocate for alternative means, Bitcoin as a currency without any central control will handle this menace in a manner that everybody will have power, control and self custody of their bitcoin, the market forces will now depend on more individual investments in it and group or institutional adoption, just imagine making Bitcoin handy and accessible to the populace.

I think the world will be a better place without notice or segregation between the rich and the poor if Bitcoin is embraced fully since Bitcoin is not a currency of a particular country everyone has the equal right and power to either store it or use it.

Bitcoin has nothing to do with eliminating social inequality. Even after Bitcoin gets adopted worldwide, there will still be rich and poor, banks and governments will own bitcoin and be in control. So don't let this idea fool you.

I grabbed 2

2tb ssd's at Best Buy

I have this pc

https://www.ebay.com/itm/175781965244

one with the exact specs above.

I will do a fresh install onto a 2tb ssd.

I will download full blockchain to the ssd.

I will clone the ssd to the second ssd and to a 4gb western digital hdd.

Should cost me only for the ssd's as I have the pc and the hdd.

Good choice, HP OptiPlexes are pretty solid, although specs look a bit like an overkill to me. I guess it's a mini-itx case are you sure it can accomodate 2 ssd drives?

This #Bitcoin mining farm in Guatemala 🇬🇹 is running on vegetable oil, helping restaurants from throwing it at a local lake ⛏️

Video included in the tweet. I believe philipma1957 will like it.

Cool

The mining set up not just helps secure the network and profits in Bitcoin, it also helps restaurants dispose of their waste. It's another illustration of how the incentive structure within Bitcoin fills gaps in the real world and make it better.

The same example as the "ransomware market" that I keep on repeating like a broken record. Haha.

Interesting concept. The device powering the whole setup looks like a diesel generator. Perhaps it has been modified somehow as I'm not sure if a stock diesel generator can run on vegetable oil (most probably not).
780  Other / Off-topic / Re: P2P E-mail on: July 07, 2023, 09:25:34 PM
P2P E-mail
Peer-to-peer decentralized email system.
I recently read an interesting article on this topic. I would like to discuss more with you shortly regarding the need for decentralization and the next step in Satoshi's legacy.

This service is definitely possible and has the ability to not only limit unauthorized access to your mailbox but also get rid of targeted emails and spam. Greater control of your data and a golden, reliable email that can execute smart contracts.

I will not use the same Nick or account.
Thank you and see you later.

Well I mean, isn't it gmail already decentralize type of thing? Like the system's already serves as the distributor but the messages and mails remain as P2P or user to user. Maybe, the integration of the the crypto can be added. There will also be a coin for the project that will serve as the payment for transaction cost for services like clearing spams, blocking ads, and access of unauthorized emails. Because if there is a sound purpose and real use of the project, then the project and it's coin value will appreciate along with btc price higher.
I will prepare a paper to explain and exemplify better because I'm not that good with words. I don't think email services like Gmail provide data decentralization. In fact, their current service depends on centralization. Traditional email services have serious problems regarding data privacy, especially how the data is stored and cataloged. There have been many instances where email platforms have violated their data protection agreements at the request of governments or organizations. I believe that data protection policies hold up well until the data becomes too valuable to maintain the balance between value and cost of protection. The service I am proposing to the community prioritizes privacy and does not rely on trust alone; it utilizes encryption and a key.

CarnagexD, the system you described is interesting, and I had thought about a similar implementation based on the "Profitability through data quantification" fast shipping choice. However, I'm not sure how secure this platform is, so I will explore more secure connections in addition to TOR. I have noticed some issues with login verification using TOR on https://bitcointalk.org/.

Not everyone is using gmail type of services. Haven't you heard about self-hosted mail server? Additionally, you can use email encryption, hard drive encryption (LUKS) etc... Is this what you're trying to achieve?
