761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how many more years our bitcoins will be save from quantum supercomputer on: May 04, 2021, 10:12:46 PM
The problem is not with quantum computers breaking a code. The problem lies in coding the existing software into a language understood by a quantum computer and then translating the results back from quantum data to binary.

If you could do it fast and easy then a quantum computer would already be a threat to every single encryption available in the world.

Don't you think that there are more important things for countries to protect from quantum hacking like missile launch codes, satellite controls and intelligence messages?
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Doge Success Force Bitcoin to Improve on: May 04, 2021, 09:56:05 PM
I really hope Dogecoin will reach $1 so I can convert my last Dogecoins to BTC once for good and forget about this pump and dump coin.

I had some doge and did exactly that when Bitcoin dumped a week ago while doge remained at ATH. Doge is fine as a joke coin but it will never be a top market cap coin.

OP said that Bitcoin started the same way because finance people thought it was a joke. The difference here is that everybody think doge is a joke, even its supporters and the crypto community.
You think people will dump bitcoin and pay with doge just because of transaction time and cost? If this was the most important factor they'd be using BCH not BTC since 2018 and we wouldn't be talking about Doge at all.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin is like planting trees on: May 04, 2021, 09:46:33 PM
buying bitcoin is the same as planting trees, in my opinion this is very, very reasonable, they have different ways but have the same goal ,, if we plant trees we will reap fruit in the future, if we invest in bitcoin we can see every development of bitcoin, , the same goal is to reap the same results for the future ..

I could argue that planting trees gives you some physical proof of your work while bitcoin exists only in the network..

If we look at it purely as an investment then inveting your time and money into planting little trees to later see them grow and give you some profit in the form of wood is somewhat similar to a bitcoin investment with the only difference that bitcoin is much more expensive and profits from it are much higher in the years that you'd have to wait to see a tree grow Wink
764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if, you had invested $100 in BTC (From 2010 to 2021) on: May 04, 2021, 12:08:28 AM
One important observation is that if you bought Bitcoin in any given day between 2009 and 2020 you'd score big time.

Think about it. All buyers in their days had the same fears as you do. What if it goes down right after I buy? What if it never reaches a new high? And yet it always did! Maybe the good time to buy bitcoin is always?

The second thing i think about when reading post like yours is that we are all getting big profit but will we ever sell? I bought some time from now and did not sell when my profit was 5x, 10x 20x. At times I think if I will feel like selling when I'm at 100x my first investment. Will I choose fiat money or the feeling that my money is multiplying when I sleep .
765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scammers have a hard time with grammar on: May 03, 2021, 11:13:02 PM
Good catch OP, but do you really need to watch for grammar to know they're trying to scam you?

The first thing I've noticed was "cloud mining". This was enough, even when written in perfect English to assure me that it's a scam Cheesy

Funny how these scammers always try to catch new people using old tactics. Cloud mining was a good scam in 2015.

766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PoW and free energy on: May 02, 2021, 09:54:22 PM
You think fusion is a clean energy? Really?
Ever heard about spent fuel cells?

Before it was banned many countries dumped large amounts of radioactive waste into oceans. This can one day backfire.

What about incidents like Fukushima? Another one is waiting to happen if we continue to use nuclear power.

767  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin not yet at $100k, why? on: May 02, 2021, 09:32:42 PM
some speculated that btc will set a new ATH of $100k before the first half of the year is over, others before the first quarter of the year.
This is exactly the reason why. Because some people speculated and thought that it might pull it off.
They were wrong. People are often wrong, you know Wink
Quote
This However has not been the case.

Some speculated about first half of the year. We aren't there yet so these people aren't wrong. We'll see.

What if it doesn't reach 100 this year? Does it mean a failure of bitcoin?
It isn't supposed to reach anything in any time frame! It's great if it does but it's fine if it doesn't.
768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bad advices regarding Bitcoin on: May 01, 2021, 10:07:15 PM
The worst advice I hear people give newcomers all the time is: don't put all eggs in one basket. Don't hold only bitcoin, buy top 10 market cap altcoins because they're cheaper then bitcoin and you'll make more money.

It shows that people don't understand that the altcoin market depends on bitcoin and altcoins are more volatile than bitcoin in both ways. You can make money quicker but you can also lose them quicker. For newcomers who don't own any cryptocurrencies it's always better to buy bitcoin.

The second worst is: trade because trading is the best way to get more coins.
Trading isn't for everyone and if you haven't done that in the past you'll make mistakes and lose money. This advice is usually given by people who made money in the bull market and think trading is easy or by traders who want newbies to fail and lose money. For someone to win on the market someone else has to lose.
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL vs Staking, What is the best strategy? on: May 01, 2021, 09:43:37 PM
If they make staking possible on non-custodial wallets it's going to be a good idea to stake some. If you have to put it on some platform where they can do with your coins whatever they like then it's only for those willing to risk a lot to gain a little. Are you one of those people?

When you hold you have full security of your funds and they gain some value over time. For now it's probably over 100% a year if you look at the last 10 years of bitcoin.
Staking on a private platform will give you additional 10% a year but at a risk of losing everything. Is 100% a year better or maybe you prefer a coin toss at 110% or nothing?
770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All Eyes on BTC Dominance! on: April 29, 2021, 09:58:17 PM
I don't think it will go far below 50%
This dip is temporary as people are trying to realize their gains from the bitcoin's bull run, hoping altcoins will go up more and Bitcoin will turn into a bear market.

2 things that can happen now is:
bitcoin will go up and people will dump some of their altcoin holdings to join another wave of the bull run
bitcoin will crash to 50% of its ath and altcoins will crash with it

You can see where some of the BItcoin went by watching the dominance charts.
While BItcoin fell below 50% ETH, XRP and BNB gained some points.
771  Economy / Economics / Re: How a digital EURO may look like on: April 29, 2021, 09:55:09 PM
So, yes, privacy is going to be a concern, yes the institutions will not make digital euro anonymous per-se so I my view we should expect it to be very unlike cash and yes it does open the door to making cash restricted for very small payments and thus having a massive control over people.

Think of the panic among current cash holders.

What If I had 100 thousand in cash at home right now and heard in the news that next year I won't be able to buy a car anymore. All I'll be able to do is grocery shopping or paying in restaurants. Crazy!

Now due to low interest rates people are withdrawing cash and they want to stop it by making cash useless, that's their main goal.
772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sold my first Bitcoin and am happy on: April 29, 2021, 09:44:32 PM
I didn't need to sell, and it was mainly for the satisfaction of getting back some of my original investment.
You should always do it if you can. Getting back original investment makes you less worried and more confident. I also did that early on, when I had 3x profit and felt great. I still hold the rest of my coins.
Quote
However, I also feel like its broken the "HODL AT ALL COSTS" mindset which I felt was getting a bit unhealthy.

You shouldn't hold at all cost, nobody is saying that. If you need money, sell. Like nobody is going to tell a sick person to hold because bitcoin is sacred and die from lack of proper healthcare.
773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would having a Debate like: Bitcoin vs Gold win more crypto investors on: April 29, 2021, 09:34:53 PM
I feel like it wouldn't be able to convince people to choose one over the other but it would give bitcoin some more presence in the media which can't be bad.

Maybe some random people will click it and watch it out of pure boredom and one day decide to get some bitcoin because why not? If you skip a few bottles of alcohol a year or a few packs of cigarettes and put that money in Bitcoin you can't go wrong!
774  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A little sad story on: April 29, 2021, 09:21:20 PM
It's so hard to try to predict moves on leverage OP, I can understand why this happened to you. You're one of those 80% traders who can't make money on the market, but someone has to lose so that someone else can win. That's how this game is played.

Personally I always go long term and try to catch sudden dumps, whales selling and crashing the market due to lack of liquidity, squeezes. I don't predict what will happen overnight, don't even try, and I don't use leverage.
775  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-04-19] Why Crypto Stocks Plunged Today on: April 29, 2021, 09:11:42 PM
It is really bad news because some people are gambling it. and many more investors are selling in high amount so, I think it is plugging .and due to some of the cheaters are doing some bad thing to make crash it and i hope it will be recovered with the others investors tomorrow.

It's mostly newcomers and traders that are selling. It's not some cheaters, the market is moved by the same supply and demand as it was years back. Only in the MtGox bull run some of the volume came from a trading bot but in 2017 it was all natural and it's the same this year.

These 10% moves are completely normal for Bitcoin and were present in every single bull market, you can check it on the charts.

The volatility this time is just as high as it was 5 years ago and people are still panicking like it hasn't happened before Cheesy
776  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price end of year? on: April 29, 2021, 08:55:26 PM
Looking at the way Bitcoin reacts to some bad news and possible bearish scenario, with Tesla selling, some FUD about bans here and there, I feel like we'll end this bull market with 80 thousand or close to it.

I really feel like we have another move ahead of us. Some traders think that we'll even have 2 more with the last one being the strongest. Worst case scenario we'll go sideways for a few months and move up in Autumn.
777  Economy / Economics / Re: Are some too blind to see? on: April 29, 2021, 08:38:32 PM
Tesla takes profit from crypto investment and some stupid people aren't even bothered, like I always say even billionaires who invest in crypto are here for the profits no matter how long they chill and hype the coins, be smart people

Why should I care?

Say I bought Bitcoin @20000 or even sub 30, Tesla bought for 30+ and sold @60. They made profit, I made more profit. Why should I be bothered?

Do you even think about how many people bought @3000 and sold @20000? We still went above 20 after 2 years of bear market. I see no reason to sell because Tesla sold just as I did not see any reason to buy because Tesla bought.

If you followed them with your buy you can also follow them with your sell, be my guest.
778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen if Satoshi moves or sells his Bitcoin? on: April 29, 2021, 08:01:07 PM
What are you talking? Satoshi nakamoto. I think if satoshi nakamoto sells its bitcoin then market just takes a correction. Because the bitcoin market now hits 2 trillion $ cap. So, it is not so easy for a single person to collapse the whole market. So, don't worry brother if satoshi nakamoto is selling bitcoin we are always ready for it.

That's right. Satoshi's coins are such a small fraction of the whole that it wouldn't do much.

Of course nothing like that will ever happen because he would have to be stupid to sell on the market that requires KYC. Suddenly the IRS would have a new nr1 target to pursue Wink
Also he'd only lose by doing so. He'd get less fiat money for his coins because the market would crash severely. It would be a much better idea to simply sell the wallet private key to someone and let that person figure out how to liquidate these coins in their time.
779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone on Tiktok said that Bitcoin will go down zero if founder show up! on: April 29, 2021, 07:30:24 PM
That's such a bullshit from this guy.

First of all if Satoshi begun to tweet or post on this forum once again, he wouldn't be endangering Bitcon but himself, so I don't think he'd ever do that.

Even if Satoshi were to dump his coins on the market all it would do is cause a temporary crash. Eventually all his coins would be bought and redistributed and it would only strenghten bitcoin since there would be no single big holder that people are fearing might sell his early holdings. People are more scared of the unknown.
780  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1 million BTC wallet on: April 29, 2021, 07:21:37 PM
It could possibly be owned by Satoshi because he's the creator of Bitcoin but since there isn't any proof, things like this could only be considered as an assumption and theory. We all know that to turn our assumptions into facts, we have to gather enough proof to prove our speculations because fake news is just around us so people would always look for evidence.

I don't think there is such a wallet and posters above confirm that there are no such wallets. What OP is claiming is some urban legend that you shouldn't worry about.

Even if there was such a wallet, it wouldn't be an active user. Nobody in their right mind would keep so much money on a single address. These would be split to a number of addresses and cold wallets for protection.
