I'm pretty sure this happens when one or more earlier posts are deleted, causing later posts to appear on the page previous to the page they originally appeared on, the latter being where the link continues pointing to until the database is properly updated.
782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Are all BTC addresses really unique? on: November 04, 2019, 06:08:01 AM
Okay, I get it
No, you don't. You really have no idea just how large the numbers involved are. (It's not your fault; humans are notoriously bad at conceptualising numbers greater than a quadrillion or so.)
783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Are all BTC addresses really unique? on: November 04, 2019, 01:11:41 AM
I know there are a trillion quindecillion different combinations possible with so many characters in an address,
FTFY. (A quindecillion is a trillion trillion trillion trillion.) Don't worry, you were only off by 36 orders of magnitude. Wink

but how do all these wallets make sure no duplicate addresses ever get generated?
They don't. With numbers this large, they don't need to.
784  Other / Meta / Re: 10th anniversary art contest on: November 03, 2019, 10:25:34 PM
In fact, I do not think that this relates to NSFW, the photo is quite modest, it's body art. Just in case, I marked the post, but I don’t know if it is in the right way.
If it really applies to NSFW, and it does not belong here, I am ready to remove it.
The rules (which admittedly don't seem to be strictly followed in this thread) also require you link to the image instead of embedding it (use [url] instead of [img]), like so:

https://i.imgur.com/6mYcMsM.jpg

But don't worry about it not belonging here; you're far from the first person to submit a NSFW entry, and they are indeed allowed:
NSFW images can be accepted as contest entries, but per forum rules, don't embed it in the page, and mark it as NSFW.
785  Other / Meta / Re: Re: 10th anniversary art contest on: November 03, 2019, 10:25:29 PM
I was the first to Merit it. It looked original and very happy. I'm not sure how low the effort was (but I know I can't make this).
It's just the bitcoin roller coaster guy (which they also plagiarised as part of their logo) with clipart of confetti and a party hat.

The 50 Merit came this account, which until Friday had sent only 4 Merit transactions, but each 50 at a time.
The related user I was talking about is this one.
786  Other / Meta / Re: Re: 10th anniversary art contest on: November 03, 2019, 02:57:28 AM
I wonder how theymos feels about this low-effort entry that appears to be little more than an advertisement for the user's site and which has already received 70 merits from 2 users that appear to be related, have suspicious merit histories, and (before the latest update) were both on DT. I'm sure there's nothing untoward going on here. Roll Eyes
787  Economy / Reputation / Re: Please make your vote for the flag created against game-protect on: November 02, 2019, 03:23:15 PM
I the real world, you can file criminal complaints anonymously and engage a lawyer to enforce a damage compensation through civil court proceeding! Wink
You obviously live in a different world than the rest of us (I mean, even more obviously than it was already). In our world, you can't file a court case anonymously without the approval of the judge, which is only granted in extraordinary circumstances, what with the whole "right of the accused to know their accuser" thing. Human rights are so inconvenient like that. Undecided
788  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Game-Protect.com did not refund my money and stopped replying to my emails on: November 02, 2019, 03:06:20 PM
Also, you are the least trusted person (most distrusted) on this forum.
His BPIP profile is ridiculously out of date*. His trust value under the old system actually stands at a whopping -549,755,813,888. One more tag and he'll become the first red trust trillionaire! Grin (Maybe that's the achievement he's aiming for.)

*His negative trust is high enough to trigger a 32-bit integer overflow, so maybe it's straight-up crashing Vod's parser. Undecided
789  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Dirty Turds Poll - Which DT needs flushing first ??????????? on: November 02, 2019, 10:47:07 AM
Maybe the whole "we" thing refers to one of the 58 genders and that's why they use that term.
They'd better not be doing the "transtrender" thing where they're only pretending to be gender confused just because all the cool kids (eg Lauda et al) are doing it. Tongue
790  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Dirty Turds Poll - Which DT needs flushing first ??????????? on: November 01, 2019, 12:07:40 PM
Well you likely missed the point that we want to scrutinize his reasoning. Like remember that time we wanted to scrutinized your reasoning and you ...................well the rest as they say is history.
Sorry, but if I wanted the origin of my opinions scrutinised, I would have put on a more "entertaining" show for the contest. You'll just have to use your imagination. Tongue
791  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Dirty Turds Poll - Which DT needs flushing first ??????????? on: November 01, 2019, 11:19:36 AM
So the challenge again bring me some members you have tagged and flagged and we will compare them to the DIRTY TURDS in the initial post and then we will conduct a public examination of your reasoning behind your actions and non actions.  WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF???
We're afraid that if we point out that our sent trust feedback is public (and therefore you don't require our help to publicly examine it), you'll just accuse us of being too cowardly to cooperate with your "investigation" instead of accepting that you're just too lazy to do it yourself. After all, it's the same thing that happened when you promised to investigate our merit histories, and nothing ever came of that, did it? Roll Eyes
792  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I don't get any incoming connections to my tor hidden service on: November 01, 2019, 10:57:37 AM
Bitnodes is not 100% reliable. Your hidden service is definitely up: I can connect to it without problems. There are no errors in the log you posted either.

I also noticed a weird thing: I got one inbound connection from localhost... how is this possible? I don't run any other nodes.
A Tor hidden service works as a reverse proxy: other users connect to your Tor server, which forwards the connection to your Bitcoin node, which sees the connection as coming from the IP address of your Tor server (localhost if both Tor and Bitcoin are running on the same machine). This is exactly what you should expect to see if your hidden service is working normally. Over time, you should start to see many more such connections.

EDIT:
update: Actually I think incoming connections will always say 127.0.0.1 since I specified bind=127.0.0.1 when in fact they are over tor. Am I correct?
No, bind simply blocks all incoming connections from any other IP address (ie, clearnet connections). Even if you omit the bind option to accept clearnet connections, you will still see Tor connections coming from localhost.
793  Economy / Reputation / Re: Game Protect flag on: November 01, 2019, 10:38:20 AM
I did, but it does not contain the word steal Huh
I'll give you a hint. Does it contain another word, or combination of words, that maybe means the same thing as the word steal? I know you find reading comprehension difficult, but please try to do your best.
794  Other / Meta / Re: 10th anniversary art contest on: November 01, 2019, 09:30:06 AM
So guys, is my work only spam ?
It's certainly far more inspired than most of the spam being posted. Carry on.
795  Other / Meta / Re: Impeachment: Is Greg Maxwell the best choice for being a mod in bitcointalk? on: November 01, 2019, 08:18:16 AM
I don't want to go to the details and put forward how Greg's biased point of view is affecting his job as a forum moderator, it would be absolutely unnecessary, it is not about this or that evidence supporting or refuting my concerns, it is about a general situation we are dealing with: a conflict of interests.

Without going too far into any of these pesky "details" that you're so against going into, would you care to explain what specifically you think Gregory Maxwell's professional interests are, and how they are in conflict?
796  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Dirty Turds Poll - Which DT needs flushing first ??????????? on: October 31, 2019, 08:56:35 PM
We hear you are VERY DISOBEDIENT, you have been ordered not to reply to us by other DT members and even mods, but yet you can not resist us can you.
Does my disobedience call into question your theory that DT is centralised? One might expect it to. And are you sure I cannot resist you?

Then again we do have the odd sneaky peak at that tail swishing gif now and then.
Perhaps it is you who cannot resist me.
797  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Dirty Turds Poll - Which DT needs flushing first ??????????? on: October 31, 2019, 07:38:27 PM
I will link to your latest fun post, explaining the zero reasoning opinion formulation process you advocate
Which one was that? The one where I describe the anatomical origin of opinions is from over a month ago, and I've made a lot of fun posts since then. Some more fun than others. Kiss

EDIT: Typo
798  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Car and Driver licensing on: October 31, 2019, 06:18:28 PM
Consider that the right to travel is a freedom that is supplied by government. Government has all kinds of ways to support payment of roads without licensing... such as toll roads.
Licensing isn't just about money; it's also about public safety. A two tonne car travelling at 110 km/h (70 mph) has about 1 megajoule (750,000 foot pounds) of kinetic energy, equivalent to 250 grams (half a pound) of TNT, which, as it happens, is roughly the yield of an M67 hand grenade. As terrorists are (surprising recently) starting to figure out, a car makes a very effective guided missile that can (either accidentally or maliciously) destroy another car completely, kill or maim a whole crowd of pedestrians, or partially demolish a small building. Even the most ardent gun nuts will concede that some licensing restrictions are necessary on the use of such weapons in public.

Those who can't abide by these (rather generous, IMO) restrictions are free to travel by less dangerous methods.
799  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Dirty Turds Poll - Which DT needs flushing first ??????????? on: October 31, 2019, 03:40:53 PM
This poll is some serious bullshit.
You think you've got it bad? Check out this bullshit:

Agent foxpoop aka foxpup. - details to come. save you votes.

That update was nearly three months ago, and still no details are coming. Angry What must a gender-confused vixen do to have the sordid details of her observable dirtiness exposed? Undecided

why didn't I win??? I self admittedly eat ass.. surely this makes me the biggest dirty turd.
So? We all do, according to c******unter. You'll need to do better than that! Cheesy

800  Economy / Reputation / Re: Veleor blamed his power as DT, give negative trust blindly on: October 31, 2019, 02:37:30 PM
Not often do you find dick insults taking the place of good arguments anymore.
Well, it's a risky strategy, given the growing number of high-ranking users who are (believed to be) female. OP may be making some unwarranted assumptions. Cheesy
