Entertaining stuff from GT openers, this is what they have been missing all this season. Luck was also on GT's side today.
They kinda choked in last 5 overs though, couldn't get as many runs as they could have, Tewatia might have been better choice after Gill/Sai departure imo, 233 target is still chaseable, match hasn't completely slipped from CSK yet.
On irrelevant note, I used to watch English commentory but Hindi is much funnier.
Yeah, the scoring went down in the last 5 overs. Kudos to CSK's bowlers for nailing wide deliveries perfectly. I mean most of those deliveries would have been given wide had Khan/Miller stopped chasing them. Crisis mode is activated in CSK's camp, losing is alright but taking a hit on run rate could be dangerous. DC, RCB, Lucknow, or to some extent, SRH won't mind that.
After initial fall of wickets, I was hoping CSK will get thrased hard and GT would get huge NRR boost but the two baldies and at eof inning Dhoni made sure things remained secure enough. |

I'm glad Gill came to his senses one more time and decided to sit Saha out (he had benched him before for one match and then brought him back again), Saha has always been a walking wicket, second change is that Tyagi is in, curious to see how he performs as well. I really hope GT will try to take advantage of powerplay this time around , it's base that decides what score team will be able to make at eof inning. Punjab must be the most consistent team in the IPL regarding not making it into playoffs. I don't remember when was the last time they qualified for playoffs.
It Must be close to a decade. They are more like Afghanistan and only entertainment fans with some thrillers and then shit the bed with some win here and there.
Agreed. So many stars performed really well for them over the years like Gayle, Rahul, Sehwag etc, but they never managed to win a single cup yet which probably won't change anytime soon unless they make some huge changes. I may be on minority on this one but I find their team good, I feel like they are lacking proper guidance. |

Punjab done and dusted. They got good start but once Rossouw got out it was downhill from there; Jitesh failed to make an impact, Livingstone failed, Shashank's run out was so unfortunate, I was gutted seeing him get out like this.
Sam Curran should have come up in the order, he's not that of a big hitter but can rotate strike easily and can hit a good boundary on good balls, he being with someone big-hitter on other side is good combo, on his own he seems to come under pressure and break.

Lol, both Patidar and Kohli's dropped catches costed Punjab good 150 runs, the way Virat didn't slow down after getting into 90s tells he probaby reads criticism going around him on the Internet.
I used to dislike Harshal Patel, but he seems improved, though I somehow can't digest the fact that he is doing better than Bumrah in orange cap race.

RCB is having good score on cards but it's all thanks to PBKS dropping catches, they dropped 3 catches (weren't hard ones either), out of three two were of Kohli who is still on crease on way to make fifty while Patidar went on to make blazing fifty.

Imagine the scenario, RCB wins this match, and makes it to play-offs somehow and then goes on to win the trophy too. This is very filmy scenario but it would be history making for sure. Sure why not if the RCB bowler restricts Punjab under 49 (RCB's lowest score xD) and chase down the target within 3-4 overs then there is some possibility lol.
Same for Punjab and these folks need to repeat their performance in the remaining matches as well. TBH it's a fool's errand if you ask me. MI knocked out already.
Not very surprised with the developments. Mumbai Indians used to be one of the strongest sides in the history of Indian Premier League. Just one stupid move and the entire team disintegrated. What was the point in replacing Rohit Sharma with Harddick Pandya? Rohit was performing amazingly well and all of a sudden they disrupt the equilibrium by importing Pandya from the Gujarat Titans. Pandya do have powerful backers though, both in the IPL and in the Indian national team. MI management likely did it looking at Rohit's age, he's now 37, how many more years you expect him to play? While Hardik is 30 years of age, he can stay in MI for close to a decade. Although, MI failed miserably this season, I feel they will be just fine in long term. |
