Look on the bright side, if btc overcomes this attack, it will become even stronger. If btc gets destroyed like this, then it would mean btc never had any chance to start with. Hopefully the spammers will run out of sats and btc will keep moving on. Otherwise this doesn't look good. An asset with 1.2 trillion USD market cap will leave a crater on the markets if it goes down like that. I don't think the spammers win. Btc will  survive this mess like it always has done. Still though, even if the fees go back down to the reasonable levels, btc will still stay expensive probably and that will keep driving away new people.

High fees keep the miners happy and make them not feel so much the halving.
So this is also a good test for us, the users, since by design the fees can't stay too low and the mining remain such a good business.

And there are always some idiots willing to pay for crap, so I'd expect more the ordinals/runes/whatever hype go off (sooner or later) than these guys run out of sats (or BTCs, seeing what has happened at the halving block)
83  Economy / Lending / Re: [WANT] 6000 USDC Secured Loan on: April 20, 2024, 04:53:02 PM
I went with this coin from $0.04 to $0.11, then to $0.002, to $0.01, and now to $0.005. I bought more with each dip. >90% crash. Still hodling.
Sell 5000€ which are going to be 10 000€ in a month? Or a 100 000€ in a year? No, thanks.

I believe in this project.

Nice story, but this means you will have to find a lender who cares about trusts RSR as much as you do, which may be difficult.
Any lender would have to also take the risk that if RSR falls before you pay your loan... bad luck. Do you truly believe anyone would fall for this fit this profile?

You don't get art bro /s  Grin

Of course, it can also be because somebody was too keen to do it, didn't know too well what's doing and now he/she may be crying for stupidly spending so much money.
PS. I don't care if it's a whale or not, it's still wasted money for a piece of useless movie clip nobody will care about in a year (or even a week).
85  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you feel that the global economy is declining? on: April 20, 2024, 04:38:32 PM
But the signals I've read here and there about the industries are better than in the last 2-3 years, quite some businesses seem to be recovering. And that would be the opposite of decline, even though it needs more time on this trend in order to gain the so needed confidence.
In my country, businesses are doing way better today than they were doing years ago but their appetite went up and they want to keep as much profit as possible. I mean that if business owner is a pig, even if it recovers, it wont care about employees because it senses that profit is increasing and his own appetite should grow big.

That's 100% correct. Just then the correct way to put it is that common mortals like us get less fiat for same work and our life is getting more difficult(*), not that the world economy is declining, isn't it?

(*) of course, Bitcoin fixes this and the usual morale is that we should still stack sats as long as we can
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Apr 2024] Fees are HIGH, wait for opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs on: April 20, 2024, 04:22:20 PM
Nope. The record of the day is easily this: https://mempool.space/tx/2bb85f4b004be6da54f766c17c1e855187327112c231ef2ff35ebad0ea67c69e. 3.6 million satoshis per vbyte. This person paid more than 6.732 bitcoin in transaction fee. It's the top transaction of the halving block. I guess you can call it the rarest Ordinal, or whatever they're called.  Tongue

I'm curious as to who will give more than $400,000 (!!!) for an Ordinal.

Woah! Impressive #fail. Call me evil, but "I'm lovin' it".

I want to also share that I've just seen on twitter that Norbert (which I was following since the trial of CSW) was just (2h ago) reposted some other(s) who have lost money trying to do with ordinals/runes things they don't understand. Of course, now they hate Bitcoin (because allowed them shoot themselves in the foot) heh...

Am I hoping too much if I hope for this trend to continue and before too long these peeps leave Bitcoin alone?

Cel putin asta s-a scris aici. (*)

88  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥 HugeWin.com Presents Mega Jackpot and Bonus Deals for Casino Lovers 🔥🔥 on: April 19, 2024, 07:34:45 PM
am kinda certain which is actually the medium to which the disbursement of the funds will be done and I believe it's gonna be the hugewin.com account since there are trying to run a promotion here on their projects and I think they would appreciate more if people actually gambled and experience the atmosphere of the casino so I kinda feel it will also need some kind of wager requirements. Although all these are just mere guesses but am pretty sure it might be so.

Of course, I also expect that this is advertising, not just throwing money away and I also guess that they'll try to make it in a way they can benefit off it i.e. getting people try their platform. I find this normal and okay.
But some clarity can help so people don't have to guess or build some unrealistic expectations.
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Perishable UTXOs on: April 19, 2024, 07:29:17 PM
Though do you have some more info about the quantum problem I mentioned ?

I'm not sure I understood your point on QC, but:
* you try to fix a problem we don't have (maybe you'll say "not yet", but I think that proper QC is not that close)
* if QC will be able to easily "crack" bitcoin and old addresses, then I expect there are other things (from SSL to bank accounts and nuke access) that are at higher priority to be fixed; but imho QC are not stable enough yet to perform something useful
* There's a very interesting image, it's all over the internet. Just read the text around it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=430000.msg4713025#msg4713025  I guess that QC can't do magic and has to obey the physical laws, right?
90  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Beta Test Bot FaucetPay on: April 19, 2024, 07:19:03 PM
We are not here to send free money.

if you don't trust in us. don't sign up..only follow and send some suggestion or also...but not ask money..we are on internet..you dont trust in us but us dont trust in you.

And what stops you from getting away those users' few dollars and claim it's a bug or they've done something wrong?
If you don't trust others, no problem, but then you should not expect anything else from others, especially as newcomer; as you said, this is internet.

So my advice: just test it yourself.

Friends! We have just published a new competition! We invite you to take part!

It would be very nice and useful to add to that contest some clarifications and rules like:
* will the win go to HugeWin account or wallet?
* if it goes to to HugeWin account, what are the requirements before withdrawal?
* what happens if two people make the same prediction?
* what happens if it ends 0 - 0, will the highest time predicted win, or nobody?

92  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you feel that the global economy is declining? on: April 19, 2024, 07:01:41 PM
It cannot be denied that the current global economic situation is not good.

I do agree with the first post: the salaries tend to remain small and the prices are skyrocketing; what happens with the prices is normal, since all the central banks are printing money like crazy since the COVID days. What happens with salaries.. is not.

But the signals I've read here and there about the industries are better than in the last 2-3 years, quite some businesses seem to be recovering. And that would be the opposite of decline, even though it needs more time on this trend in order to gain the so needed confidence.

It's an old problem. The usual fix used to be to add a top or bottom row (or header) with cells consisting of as many underscores you want for correct spacing.

Let me try:

96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Perishable UTXOs on: April 19, 2024, 06:18:29 PM
The concept speeks for itself: after a determined amount of time alive, let's say E epochs, where E could be 4, any UTXO becomes claimable by miners.

This was discussed a lot of times. No. No matter how old some untouched coins are, no matter how nice is the name under which you're saying it, what you propose is stealing.
Some are HODLing, some have collectibles with coins stuck on them - on purpose - virtually forever. Why would they move their coins because of a new rule? Again. No.

What do yall see happening next week, I think we will get a dump from the effects of
"buy the hype, sell the news"

While I won't disagree with you on what will happen in the future, ... the market didn't look in the past 8 days like "buy the hype", it was already in the "sell the news" mood.
Plus, I've read some already telling that the current trend has already bottomed. I fear they may have been calling it a bit in haste, but you never know...

Of course, I'll just sit and wait too see what's going to happen (and stack a few more sats if I can), but I'd like to hear other opinions too on this...

              You can't
                              have the
                       fruits
                              without
               the roots
By Stephen covey.

Nowadays people tend to get their fruits... from the supermarket, no longer being interested whether they are from the trees or molded from plastic (the exaggeration is intentional).

This goes on including to Bitcoin seen as a get-rich-quick scheme. Many don't care about the basics, many just want shortcuts and  something easy that's the mentality about everything nowadays.
That's also the reason ETF are such a success: "nobody cares" about a wallet that has to be kept safely, that's for geeks (like us), all they care is a piece of paper telling how rich they are (yeah, in that ever-printed fiat, but they don't care about that either, since they may have been taking shortcuts at the math class too).
