Pana una-alta, multa bafta!

I tried to make some waves in there, but I think that more is needed, not just people interested to stay for a short while.
Good luck with these raffles, I hope the team will convince more people hang in there...

Just an update on my original post, since I'm not allowed to edit it:
The link I've put into the initial post seems to not work and the reason might be that it was a response that also quotes a previous message.
Since I had a longer conversation there, I'll put another link of mine from that same conversation, I really hope it's not a huge problem:

Makes you wonder how much of this is out there.

Far too many think that they can mine with free electricity. Just the electricity is actually not for free. Most of them are probably at work. Some also in their rented places.
I remember there were even nuclear scientists caught mining bitcoin at work, many years ago. I thought that by now people got smarter, but no, I see they're just greedier.
927  Other / Archival / Re: [REQUEST] Do something with the HYIPs section on: February 24, 2023, 08:19:19 PM

I've already admitted I was wrong, one post above yours.
xandry has shown a clearer picture/context I didn't know. And in that new light I already said that indeed nuke may indeed be the right direction.
So... should I remove my posts from this topic? It would make some answers useless, but if it would make you feel better, I'll do that.

LE: I've removed most of them; if anybody wants to find them, he can, easily. Next time I'll be more careful in sharing you ideas.
928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: No debits from the ledger possible. Who can help? on: February 24, 2023, 05:22:02 PM
that worked now.
However, it took 20 minutes for the 5, I have about 400

Now you know the drill.
I'll add that you don't necessarily need to consolidate all the inputs, you can just select some in the same way when you want to pay for something... and make sure the sum is big enough and you didn't use too many inputs; of course, on the long run you'll need to get the number of inputs down to a more bearable number. Good luck!

I've made transactions on Electrum with 50 inputs, and that didn't take a second. I can't tell you what's wrong though.

With Ledger Nano S? (Maybe the Ledger is the issue? Loong ago it was not slow for me neither.)
929  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC vs Binance on: February 24, 2023, 05:16:32 PM
(if they want to properly back a stable coin with actual gold then its storage needs to be paid).

Which is why it's the dumbest idea to make a gold stablecoin, or any precious metal stablecoin for that matter. Roll Eyes The minters are not even guaranteed to have liquidity in the first place, and usually they don't anyway. It's not like anyone's going to go back to Bretton Woods agreement any time soon.

Well, there are people fond of gold, people who want to use gold-equivalent coins. Many see it as a store of value, some even more than bitcoin. I won't debate whether they're right or wrong.
At some point in the past I was advertising one such stable coin and... they were charging their users for that storage (!), it was part of the business model.

But, yes, we're on the same page: the logistics of reimbursing in case such a coin/business collapses may be pretty complicated (as you said, liquidity...)

Gold-backed tokens have been around for a while, i.e. Pax Gold: https://paxos.com/paxgold/
They don't have to set up any storage themselves, but would rather use trustworthy, reputable, and much cheaper 3rd parties like Swiss banks, or, in the case of Pax Gold - LBMA (London-based precious metals authority).

Not sure how they generate a profit on that though, probably it's just initial issuance and redemption fees, so much less attractive than fiat-based stablecoins, where most of the profit would be generated from interest on clients' deposits.

If they don't store the gold, they have to pay to those storing and guarding it.
And the profit? May come from various operational fees they take, may come (sooner or later) from playing with fractional reserve, .. I've never heard of anybody who's issuing money to be (or stay) poor  Cheesy
930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: No debits from the ledger possible. Who can help? on: February 24, 2023, 04:55:20 PM
I'm trying to send 5 entries right now.
I just find it strange that it always takes so long, after 10 min Electrum shows me 2/5.

It is slow for me too when I have many inputs, but not that slow. However, for 10-15 inputs it took me too more than a minute (yeah, it cannot really compare with your 10 minutes for 2 inputs).
The problem is that each such transaction you make is on-chain, hence it costs you transaction fees, so it would be advisable to try to get more inputs together.

PS. Be careful to not pay too big fee either (but I'd advise not the smallest either, i.e. at very least 1.1 sat/vByte)
931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: No debits from the ledger possible. Who can help? on: February 24, 2023, 04:39:32 PM
That means I go to Electrum and copy the address and send the collected amounts to myself?

Yes.
First of all, I'd make sure you work with BTC and not mBTC (Tools->Preferences->Base unit).

Basically you pick an address of yours that's empty and has no transactions (View->Show Addresses, pick one with tx = 0 copy the address to clipboard).
Also View->Show Coins, go to coins tab and select some of them (maybe some 50 at once, but make sure the amount is not too small on them ie ignore those with less than 0.0000055 BTC, if you have such inputs; you can sort the inputs by amount). So, with Ctrl-click you select some inputs, then right-click and press Spend. Only those inputs will be used in the next transaction.
You had an address in clipboard, now go to Send tab and send the max amount to this address (CTRL-V). The max amount will be only from those selected inputs.

Repeat this a couple of times with the smaller inputs until you get much shorter list of inputs. But not too small inputs.
That 50 I've said .. you'll adjust depending on how long the operation takes and whether it fails.
Also, if the transaction fee is way too big (even at 1 sat/vByte), then you may want to do the operation again with a different set of inputs, by skipping more of the smaller ones.

the nano s has no BT

Nano S has no BT, but with the right cable or adapter I do use mine with smartphone now and then.
However, that's not relevant for now. Electrum for desktop may do the job better imho.

933  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there any way to search for a transaction by prefix? on: February 23, 2023, 09:01:11 PM
I may be a bit late to the party but, if walletexplorer by chance didn't help then Blockchair has a great filtering capability, see https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transactions
You may be able to filter by the amounts and time for example to narrow down what you need.

PS. If you want to play with local database you may want to look at Bitcoin in SQL, but the online version, sadly, is not too useful (times out too fast hence doesn't return anything useful)
934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big businesses, corporations also influence the price of cryptocurrency market. on: February 23, 2023, 08:27:09 PM
Are there other factors that influence the prices of cryptocurrency? Let's discuss!

Somehow you seem to come with a lot of topics you could have been researching a little, throw some words and "let's discuss". This is not OK. You should put more effort in this, now you just look desperate for meeting a post quota.

Elon Musk's behavior is known. Many no longer care about his announcements and the effects (many of them short-lived) his actions have on the price.
It's not IRA, it's IRS you wanted to tell about. And I think that SEC also keeps an eye on him.

And Bitcoin price... there are too many things that can affect it (some for longer term, some for shorter term): various announcements (like you said about Musk), various actions (institutional buys/sales), hacks, bankruptcies, new businesses opening, halving, ASIC chips/mining gears releases, war (let's not forget it), pandemic, recession... even the stimulus checks the Americans have received did affect the price.

i found him on fiverr, his location was set in india, i asked him if he can install me crash game script, then we went out of fiverr to telegram so he can do me discount, and right after i sent him btc for script installation our telegram chat is gone. end of story

It's interesting that you are still telling the not-so-relevant story and you don't post the tx id.
However, is the tx confirmed? Or did you manage to double-spend it?

Ar mai fi, in aceeasi lista, si Strike (fie el si pentru "no coiners" Smiley). Cred ca ai uitat de el.

Si Eclair Smiley

Da, de Eclair am uitat. Multumesc.

937  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the motto of bitcoin? on: February 23, 2023, 07:39:02 PM
I see many identities and logo of companies and business having a motto or phrase attached to their Logo. Does bitcoin have any official motto or phrase used or released by satoshi or the developers?

Well, the full title of Bitcoin whitepaper Satoshi has written is: Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System
It's not an actual motto, but it can be seen as an official phrase (or short definition for Bitcoin)
938  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: question on transaction processors on: February 23, 2023, 02:33:13 PM
So I have been studying and I read that transactions in blocks do not contain IDs, so I've been wondering where on the node the IDs of transactions are kept. Or Are they stored on blocks?

I recommend you take a look into:
https://learnmeabitcoin.com/technical/txid
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction
These links should explain it better than I'd do (since I'm not that good at the internals).

However, shortly: the first link tells how tx id can be easily obtained from the transaction itself:

You get a TXID by hashing transaction data through SHA256 twice.

I will add that while tx ids seem to not be stored in the actual blockchain, Bitcoin Core does store the tx ids of unspent transactions (UTXO) in chainstate folder (levelDb), read:
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/28168/what-are-the-keys-used-in-the-blockchain-leveldb-ie-what-are-the-keyvalue-pair

-Also, Could someone help me explain better what transaction processor is and what part of the transaction the transaction processors actually create?

I am not sure what you mean here.
All the nodes validate transactions and forward them (one node's mempool may be different from another's), hence they can be seen as processors.
The miners are the "ultimate" processors because they add the transactions into blocks.
But none of them would alter a transaction (transaction created and signed by the sender). So.. I am not sure what you mean.
939  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: February 23, 2023, 12:50:27 PM
I know Tesla's making it fashionable to use "charging stations" and leave your car parked there for hours, but that's a pretty dumb idea if you need to get somewhere fast, or if you're driving a taxi or bus or even for Uber/Lyft.

Well, at least in theory, the driver should charge the car before it gets under a limit (20% maybe?) and normally don't go over 90% (because after that it's very slow).
And, if the drivers are not assholes keeping the charging stations busy (I think that Tesla has fixed that by charging them heftily for the extra time) one will easily find a place to charge his car.

If you've ever refueled a car before, you'll know that the process takes a few minutes maximum. Even with smaller devices such as PCs and phones, the charging can take hours. So I'm wondering how electric cars will be able to be recharged in a reasonable amount of time, let alone minutes.

Indeed, even with tricks like charging only from 20% to 90%, charging still takes a lot of time, more than for combustion cars. That's one reason why something new needs invented.

And, in places where blackouts are likely to happen, nobody will even be able to use their cars. Whereas gas stations can continue functioning even without power as long as the station itself has a generator - but the cars themselves need none of that.

One of my points was the better storage for electricity is needed. This would most probably means that such charging stations will have their own special, big capacity batteries (yet to be invented). The charging would go from there (to not overload the grid) and in case of blackouts they can still use their battery for powering their own business. Of course, if the blackout lasts too long.. nothing can help, you're right on that.
940  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to restore forgotten or lost seed-phrase on: February 23, 2023, 12:33:02 PM

You don't seem to have much of idea on what are your chances for find the seed, right?
If only a small number of words are missing, OK, you can do it. But without no other info you will most probably not find anything useful during your lifetime (and I'm being overly generous on this).

So I recommend you read much-much more before offering this kind of services, which, at this stage, are dangerously close to what we call... scam.

I also recommend people don't give money or sensitive information to this "service".
If one has lost some words of his seed, ask around publicly for advises and may recover it. If one lost his seed completely.. bad luck.
Goind blindly for this kind of services can only get more money lost or even the initial coins stolen.
