941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big businesses, corporations also influence the price of cryptocurrency market. on: February 23, 2023, 08:27:09 PM
Are there other factors that influence the prices of cryptocurrency? Let's discuss!

Somehow you seem to come with a lot of topics you could have been researching a little, throw some words and "let's discuss". This is not OK. You should put more effort in this, now you just look desperate for meeting a post quota.

Elon Musk's behavior is known. Many no longer care about his announcements and the effects (many of them short-lived) his actions have on the price.
It's not IRA, it's IRS you wanted to tell about. And I think that SEC also keeps an eye on him.

And Bitcoin price... there are too many things that can affect it (some for longer term, some for shorter term): various announcements (like you said about Musk), various actions (institutional buys/sales), hacks, bankruptcies, new businesses opening, halving, ASIC chips/mining gears releases, war (let's not forget it), pandemic, recession... even the stimulus checks the Americans have received did affect the price.
942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: btc sent to scammer, unconfirmed zapwallettxes on: February 23, 2023, 08:16:31 PM
i found him on fiverr, his location was set in india, i asked him if he can install me crash game script, then we went out of fiverr to telegram so he can do me discount, and right after i sent him btc for script installation our telegram chat is gone. end of story

It's interesting that you are still telling the not-so-relevant story and you don't post the tx id.
However, is the tx confirmed? Or did you manage to double-spend it?
943  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Lightning Network: intrebari / schimb de opinii on: February 23, 2023, 08:04:36 PM
Ar mai fi, in aceeasi lista, si Strike (fie el si pentru "no coiners" Smiley). Cred ca ai uitat de el.

Si Eclair Smiley

Da, de Eclair am uitat. Multumesc.

944  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the motto of bitcoin? on: February 23, 2023, 07:39:02 PM
I see many identities and logo of companies and business having a motto or phrase attached to their Logo. Does bitcoin have any official motto or phrase used or released by satoshi or the developers?

Well, the full title of Bitcoin whitepaper Satoshi has written is: Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System
It's not an actual motto, but it can be seen as an official phrase (or short definition for Bitcoin)
945  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: question on transaction processors on: February 23, 2023, 02:33:13 PM
So I have been studying and I read that transactions in blocks do not contain IDs, so I've been wondering where on the node the IDs of transactions are kept. Or Are they stored on blocks?

I recommend you take a look into:
https://learnmeabitcoin.com/technical/txid
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction
These links should explain it better than I'd do (since I'm not that good at the internals).

However, shortly: the first link tells how tx id can be easily obtained from the transaction itself:

You get a TXID by hashing transaction data through SHA256 twice.

I will add that while tx ids seem to not be stored in the actual blockchain, Bitcoin Core does store the tx ids of unspent transactions (UTXO) in chainstate folder (levelDb), read:
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/28168/what-are-the-keys-used-in-the-blockchain-leveldb-ie-what-are-the-keyvalue-pair

-Also, Could someone help me explain better what transaction processor is and what part of the transaction the transaction processors actually create?

I am not sure what you mean here.
All the nodes validate transactions and forward them (one node's mempool may be different from another's), hence they can be seen as processors.
The miners are the "ultimate" processors because they add the transactions into blocks.
But none of them would alter a transaction (transaction created and signed by the sender). So.. I am not sure what you mean.
946  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: February 23, 2023, 12:50:27 PM
I know Tesla's making it fashionable to use "charging stations" and leave your car parked there for hours, but that's a pretty dumb idea if you need to get somewhere fast, or if you're driving a taxi or bus or even for Uber/Lyft.

Well, at least in theory, the driver should charge the car before it gets under a limit (20% maybe?) and normally don't go over 90% (because after that it's very slow).
And, if the drivers are not assholes keeping the charging stations busy (I think that Tesla has fixed that by charging them heftily for the extra time) one will easily find a place to charge his car.

If you've ever refueled a car before, you'll know that the process takes a few minutes maximum. Even with smaller devices such as PCs and phones, the charging can take hours. So I'm wondering how electric cars will be able to be recharged in a reasonable amount of time, let alone minutes.

Indeed, even with tricks like charging only from 20% to 90%, charging still takes a lot of time, more than for combustion cars. That's one reason why something new needs invented.

And, in places where blackouts are likely to happen, nobody will even be able to use their cars. Whereas gas stations can continue functioning even without power as long as the station itself has a generator - but the cars themselves need none of that.

One of my points was the better storage for electricity is needed. This would most probably means that such charging stations will have their own special, big capacity batteries (yet to be invented). The charging would go from there (to not overload the grid) and in case of blackouts they can still use their battery for powering their own business. Of course, if the blackout lasts too long.. nothing can help, you're right on that.
947  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to restore forgotten or lost seed-phrase on: February 23, 2023, 12:33:02 PM

You don't seem to have much of idea on what are your chances for find the seed, right?
If only a small number of words are missing, OK, you can do it. But without no other info you will most probably not find anything useful during your lifetime (and I'm being overly generous on this).

So I recommend you read much-much more before offering this kind of services, which, at this stage, are dangerously close to what we call... scam.

I also recommend people don't give money or sensitive information to this "service".
If one has lost some words of his seed, ask around publicly for advises and may recover it. If one lost his seed completely.. bad luck.
Goind blindly for this kind of services can only get more money lost or even the initial coins stolen.
948  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I check my merit count for the last 120 days on: February 23, 2023, 10:39:10 AM
I also recommend the BPIP extension. It has a lot of nice features, not only nice stats in your Merit page.
It shows who is DT, it shows who is inactive or banned, it adds quick links to helper pages (ninjastic.space, loyce.club, bpip), it helps quoting from locked topics, it offers (if you want) even dark themes.
It's of great help.

Yes, it tells that it's beta and sometimes show inactives that have just became active again, but the glitches are small and few.
949  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Lightning Network: intrebari / schimb de opinii on: February 23, 2023, 09:35:21 AM

* Breez: asta face backup in cloud.. adica hai sa fim seriosi...

950  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-02-21] FTX Japan allows customers withdraw their funds on: February 23, 2023, 09:04:28 AM
So, now that we have a few names that have fled Japan over these regulations that are now proven to protect customers, won't this be a good time for users to drop them? I remember a guy that shouts #SAFU all day but when it came to obeying these laws it choose to #RANU  Grin

That insurance is an expense many companies don't want to have. Even more, the crypto space used to pretty much cheer for not obeying regulations, which most often came with compulsory KYC (which now is pretty much a rule, but not so long ago it was the exception).
Binance was hacked and managed to recover from their own funds. This gave CZ quite a morale boost and few understand that those funds are good only in case of hacks, but won't help in case of bankruptcy, especially if that's due to running on fractional reserves.

FTX collapse was basically all regulators needed to justify stricter rules.

Exactly.

So the author is already suggesting that all exchanges should be forced to pay for an insurance for user funds. How many exchanges can pay for that? So small exchanges are now doomed, and only big ones such as Binance, Coinbase, FTX, etc will be able to operate if those rules apply everywhere.

I was proposing insurance for exchanges many years ago. Back then most insurers didn't even know how to handle crypto businesses.
The insurance value is meant to be proportional with the size of the exchange / a median amount of funds deposited there. So in theory it should be affordable to the smaller exchanges too. Just most won't want to spend that money.
Insurance is imho okay. But I fear that the result will be stricter regulations for the users, not for the exchanges, and in many cases, while some other crazy regulations may come to life, the insurance may go "forgotten". I'm saying this because the exchanges can just go to softer jurisdictions, while many of the users can't.
951  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My father thinks I'm working in a shop,he didn't know I'm bitcointalking. on: February 23, 2023, 08:46:04 AM
We thank God for bitcoin, that came as a messiah,to enrich the hopeful.

As said, bitcoin was not made to make people rich. However, I cannot deny it, it can provide now and then easy jobs with quick and flawless payments.

Now my father asks me about my shop, and where it's located,I told him I'm bitcointalking, and he doesn't know what I'm talking. What do yours tell you?

Well, I think that you're doing it wrong. "Bitcointalking" is not supposed to be a job. Relying on posting on a forum as a stable source of income can easily lead to big problems.
Lying your family about your job is imho even worse, although I clearly don't expect them to understand all this.
Imho the proper way should be to have a stable job (maybe at a shop) and whatever (and whenever) you get some extra from campaigns on bitcointalk... treat is as a bonus, because that's what it is.
952  Other / Archival / Re: [REQUEST] Do something with the HYIPs section on: February 22, 2023, 02:55:36 PM
Sounds to me from what Ratimov said that the whole section is not only bot-infested but pretty much dead anyway.  The best option would be to just nuke it, no?

I thought that he's exaggerating, that's why I came wit other possible idea/direction too. Now, after xandry showing the full picture I'm no longer that sure and indeed, nuke may be just the right direction.
953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does 'int' mint in Bitcoin on: February 22, 2023, 11:20:17 AM
It's about a data type in the code or data.

The thing is that a signed int (32 bit signed integer) takes values between -2,147,483,648 and 2,147,483,647,
while unsigned int goes between 0 and 4,294,967,295

Clearly Satoshi meant that in case an error is found in his code, that has to be fixed before a big number is reached (bigger than 2,147,483,647), because in case of signed int that will mean an overflow to negative numbers.

Things are going just fine and dandy, and then lookie uie pooie.. (aka somac) coming in and ruinin dee moo...    Angry Angry Angry Angry

No. The (overall) mood was OK at under 17k in December, hence at the current 24k-25k levels just a post like that cannot ruin the mood.
955  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core wallet to sparrow on: February 21, 2023, 07:45:41 PM
is there any reliable solution to import the wallet to either sparrow or electrum, and get a seedphrase that way?

You cannot import Bitcoin Core's wallet file into another wallet. And while afaik the new Bitcoin Core wallets are also HD, they are not based on a seed in the way you see it for Electrum or Sparrow (BIP39 and so on).
Is having the seed that important? The private key(s) aren't enough for your needs?

If you want to obtain the HD seed of your Bitcoin core wallet (but it will be BIP32, not BIP39), you may want to read this on Reddit and maybe try your luck with this tool (but I have no idea if it works and I would not use it with a wallet that may have anything valuable in it).

So, as I said, maybe you just get the private keys of the relevant addresses, it should be easier.
956  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: starting holding with an "old" hardware wallet on: February 21, 2023, 07:35:07 PM
Hi there! I bought a trezor t on march 2021 using some btc, i never opened it, now i'm thinking about starting investing a little bit, basicly holding some cryptos i like, but i don't know if it is worth to keep this trezor t or sell it and buy the new one or another kind of hardware wallet. Some advices are appreciated, peace.

Well done! Really! Most just go head first into issues. Having a hardware wallet and also asking is a very good way to go.

As the others said, you should update the firmware. It's important, please don't miss this.
Also as others said, you should keep the backup seed safely. But I will say some more things:
1. Make sure it's you who generate a new seed on your device.
2. The seed must be written down and stored safely offline and preferably in at least two places, geographically separated.
3. Maybe it's overkill, but I've seen cases this could have been avoiding other issues: after everything is set up and you can see (write down/copy-paste) your first address or few addresses (I use my hardware wallet with Electrum and there this is easier) reset the hardware wallet again, restore from the written down seed and see if you've got the same addresses. Especially since it's expected you may play around a little with your Trezor it's better to be 100% certain the seed you'll be putting to safety is indeed the one the Trezor has in use.
957  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FTX Japan resumes fiat and crypto withdrawals today on: February 21, 2023, 06:51:55 PM
Customers who traded with FTX.US are still waiting to hear what will happen while the exchange continues its bankruptcy process. Japan's regulators were praised for passing stringent laws to protect its investors so quickly.

While people around the world have higher hopes now on getting their money back, it's important to make it clear that Japan is a rather unique situation: there FTX had to insure their operations in order to get the license to operate. That insurance is what pays now the customers' money, not FTX.

PS: In my topic in Press about FTX withdrawals in Japan I seem to have better source for the news.
958  Economy / Speculation / Re: What comes next for Bitcoin: $20K or $30K? on: February 21, 2023, 02:45:52 PM
What are your thoughts? Will the bullish uptrend continue or will price get rejected by $25K resistance level and correct back to the downside?

I am optimistic and I voted 30k. Clearly a cooldown will come again - sooner or later -, but we seem to jump into a FOMO-like atmosphere already (at least crypto Twitter seems to be there), and if it's so then the cooldown may only happen after 35-40k (and will be a bit painful/disappointing for some).
959  Bitcoin / Press / [2023-02-21] FTX Japan allows customers withdraw their funds on: February 21, 2023, 02:37:19 PM

Bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX has partially resumed operations in Japan – allowing customers to withdraw funds
https://technewsspace.com/bankrupt-cryptocurrency-exchange-ftx-has-partially-resumed-operations-in-japan-allowing-customers-to-withdraw-funds/

The title says it all. The Japanese are the luckier. The rest.. can only hope, but not too much.
The withdrawal will not be straightforward, it will happen through Liquid Japan, still, I am sure the Japanese won't complain too much, excepting the few for which somehow the records got lost (strange).

Now, some interesting points:

Japan’s ability to protect its consumers from losing money due to the crypto exchange collapse can serve as a model for other countries, The Register noted.

* The withdrawals are possible because the regulations in Japan ask for mandatory insurance. So the withdrawals come from the insurer, not FTX (which is bad news for the rest of the world).
**  I think that this will fuel the urge for more strict regulation of crypto (and not as it should - the crypto businesses), possibly also missing exactly this insurance part.
**  I think that this will fuel the urge to make everything with even stricter KYC requirements

* People will miss the point that this is insurance money and will expect FTX "recover". And if FTX name will come back in a way or another, I would not surprised is all will jump in like nothing has happened.
960  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of useful Bitcoin block explorers on: February 21, 2023, 01:58:03 PM
I've not checked it but hovering might be not possible for mobile devices?

Indeed, it's not working for mobile phones, still I think that if you use this trick at least for the dates (and also make the header more condensed/multiline) you can at least from there squeeze more space. And the comments also.. they're useful, but not crucial, hence one can live without them on mobile.
