Then again, what does a merit source allocation spot looks like, I've got no idea so maybe I could have a pip if you may with an image.

For merit sources the source sMerits are separated from the normal merits (and normal sMerits) plus it tells "You are a merit source" somewhere. So a merit source will know that clearly.
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN SUPPLY LIMIT on: April 01, 2023, 09:03:12 AM
As we all know BITCOIN mining will stop once the 21 million mark is reached.

Mining will NOT stop then. You have misunderstood something.

According to the information we have 19 millions coins were mined and now circulating.

Actually a big chunk of those coins is locked in wallets either owned by very strong hands (and will probably stay locked for many years to come), either lost forever. The real circulating amount is smaller.

The remaining balance is about 2 millions to be mined. Why it is not possible to mine the remaining BITCOINS before 2140 when the 19 millions mined in just over 10 years?

Bitcoin block reward is MEANT to halve every ~4 years. That's part of how bitcoin software was written, and it's also something that makes the coins price rise (not the only thing, still..).

You can easily make your own fork of Bitcoin, make the block reward logic change (maybe the difficulty logic too) and mine those remaining coins even in a day if you want to. But that will no longer be bitcoin and will most probably have no value.
804  Other / Meta / Re: whats going on BTT? on: April 01, 2023, 08:39:52 AM
Am I the only one seeing this

Well, merit source looks different. And I also don't have more sMerit than half of my merit, so it must be only you.

PS. Your question was not that clear, hence getting odd answers is expected, especially today.
805  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 2FA Recovery Code on: March 29, 2023, 04:38:13 PM
When I set up my google authenticator for 2FA on KuCoin I got a lengthy code to use for recovery if for example I ever lose my phone.

However, I've just done the same on Kraken and haven't got a similar code.

Does anyone know if I should always have the long backup code for each 2FA or is the code for all of my google authenticator accounts?

I've had the same issue some years ago. I've "fixed" it by using Aegis Authenticator, which does exactly the same as Google Authenticator, plus it has options to backup, import, export your data. Much more convenient than Google's tool (especially if you indeed make backups).

If you want to go by Google, it would be indeed safer to save separately those long strings; those are the (backup) seed for generating those numbers.

807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sending BTC from Canada to Dominican Republic; most cost effective way on: March 29, 2023, 03:52:38 PM
Most cost effective way to buy BTC, send it from Canada to Dominican Republic and convert it into local currency?

This is not a technical question. It's more a question about services.

You want us to know all the exchanges - centralized, decentralized, OTC - and also individuals willing to exchange and compare all the prices and fees for you?!
It's like asking where it's cheaper to get strawberries from, without mentioning if it's about 1kg or 100 tons (which means different problems, opportunities and prices).
So, yeah, good luck with that...

As said, if you can find P2P deals, face to face, without getting ripped off, it could be a good option. Transfer price is small if you do it yourself and you know what you're doing. Selling in Dominican Rep. .. no idea at all...
808  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: You should write two copies of your seed phrase. on: March 28, 2023, 07:33:24 PM
Paper can be really fragile, and all it takes is a tear or water spill or defacing to deny you access to your BTC forever.

So, you should make a second copy of your seed phrase that is identical to the first, and store it on a different place from the first seed so that they both cannot go down together except in extreme circumstances like a natural disaster.

Well, this advice is far from new. But indeed, it's good to remind people now and then about it (I would have been expecting this in B&H though).

is remembering 12 words that hard?

It's not.. until it is. Just imagine a stroke, or a (motor)bike crash, or many other things the can happen to you.
Plus, mind is a very strange thing. In a year or two you will be certain the 5th word in your seed is "about" and in reality it was always "above".
So no. It's not difficult to keep in mind 12 words for a while. But the longer that while is, the more chances for something to go wrong.
809  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: ATENTIE! Bibox exchange fraudeaza userii! on: March 28, 2023, 05:58:26 PM

Imi pare rau...
.. si multumim pentru avertisment.
810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why use Bitcoin mixers? on: March 28, 2023, 05:51:49 PM
Would I achieve the same result if I were to move the bitcoins through these addresses on my Electrum wallet as opposed to using a mixer?

Normally a mixer breaks the link between the inputs and outputs. Meaning that you get back money that's not obtained from shuffling around your own coins. So normally the answer is no.

On the other hand, CoinJoin is also considered mixing. And afaik CoinJoin does not break the link, hence, if you are keen to do that in your own wallet, you may (but it requires so many operations you don't want to do that by hand).

812  Economy / Economics / Re: What's is daily budgets or expenses as a bitcoiner? on: March 26, 2023, 07:07:02 PM
I know everybody is not in a same class but still we all do budgeting, expenses and impulse. How much do spend a day? Do you think is possible to program your daily expenses?

This is not about bitcoin or bitcoiners. The numbers differ greatly on one's "class", country he lives in, family (some are helped by their families, some have smaller or bigger family to support) some have better jobs and afford this or that, some not, some are even affected by war(s). Even more.. no offense, but why would anybody give you this kind of .. rather personal information? I mean not only a number which alone doesn't mean much, instead the whole situation/story... no.

About the daily expenses, I do keep an excel file, not only to get an idea on the expenses but also to keep an eye on errors or other "surprises" on the credit card too.
813  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: March 26, 2023, 06:54:23 PM
this thread has nothing to do in the gambling and gambling discussion boards. This thread is best suited in the politics and society board.

Like everything related to politics, this is also debatable  Cheesy Cheesy

For my prediction on the forthcoming general election in USA 2024,

I would be afraid to make predictions on US elections. Every time I've tried that, the outcome was the opposite of what I've predicted (i.e. imho the worse president of the two main candidates was the one elected). Luckily the president alone cannot break everything like in many other countries, still, for the sake of the Americans... I will just try to not predict anything this time Cheesy

Concursurile saptamanale Utopia continua:

[RAFFLE] Utopia - P2P Ecosystem | Free Bitcoin Raffle Weekly 💎 Round 5
Link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5446171

Organizator: joeperry

Premii: 60$, 40$, 20$. Premille sunt in bitcoin.

Termen limita: 30 Martie 23:59:59 ora forumului.

Numele utilizator

817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin truly free of Pump and Dump Schemes? on: March 23, 2023, 06:17:58 PM
I had a firm belief in BTC that it could not be used in the Pumps and Dumps Scheme because of its scarcity (limited supply, high demand) and decentralization.

I think that in reality nothing is really free of pump and dumps.

But for bitcoin pump and dumps attempts can get diluted by arbitrage and the fact there are a good number of CEX, DEX and OTCex all competing, so they (P&D) do need big effort.
I've read Mt Gox did that. Social engineering (news/FUD) together with sudden movements in order to trigger small trader safety nets (stop loss and maybe others too), maybe together with some wash trading (most pretending it never happens) can be seen as the modern P&D. Are they so big and happen so often? I don't think so, hence there's not so much to worry about.
818  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Guy buys Ledger on Amazon... his crypto gets stolen... on: March 23, 2023, 06:07:59 PM
If this story is true

This is what I would start with. I think that this guy just tried to create some drama in order to get more views.
If one makes so many stupid mistakes in a row then he doesn't worth the attention he gets. But I think that he didn't make any mistake in reality.

There was a more credible story in the past with somebody getting - also from Amazon - a HW with the seed words already entered, which maybe can happen if one has returned it and Amazon didn't pay attention. But this... I don't know...
819  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Suggest Online Shopping Sites That Accept Bitcoin Payments And Ships Everywhere. on: March 22, 2023, 07:44:03 PM
Banggood used to be the "poor brother" of AliExpress. I stopped using it after I've found AliExpress but you may want to take a look there since it ships to a lot of places (maybe everywhere, I don't know) and accepts many payment methods.
I don't see Bitcoin on the list, but - depending on the country of the user - the list can be pretty big and maybe you can use bitcoin together with one of those payment methods....

(For clothes there's also Shein, but it seems to have far too few payment methods; plus my wife has shopped from there only once, which is not enough for a proper review).
820  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if? on: March 22, 2023, 07:28:43 PM
What if quantum computer breaks quantum Bitcoin's encryption?

Another week, another "quantum computer breaks bitcoin" topic.
What if people use forum search, or https://ninjastic.space/search or even google before asking the same thing over and over again?
