82  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tuloy Ang pag Ban Ng Binance Sa Pinas At Posibleng Dahilan. on: April 06, 2024, 03:02:31 PM

  • EMI license [December 2024]
  • VASP license [September 2025]
83  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Anong hardware wallet ang mairerecommend nyo ngayon? on: April 05, 2024, 05:09:52 PM
I prefer not to vouch (DYOR)].
84  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk uptime status monitor on: April 05, 2024, 12:26:07 PM
This works on visiting the forum website for 1 minute interval and capture response time
It'd be better if you could add a daily/weekly/monthly toggle button above or under the line graph [it'll come in handy when there's more data].

It will record and show the last 30 days of uptime status of the website in desktop mode and 30 days in mobile mode.
Regarding the downtime activity section, does it also record the length, or it's limited to only showing the status codes when Bitcointalk is down?

85  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: April 04, 2024, 09:14:40 PM
I didn't modify the files from n0nce (who very kindly offered me a customised version of his jig—or was it one of the parameters in the file?). kindly offered
I thought [and also hoped] you managed to improve the original design of the jig in a way that the protruded part would slide in and out of the crevices [or rather sections] and the squarish opening.

When I said you could open and close the jig, I meant lifting and lowering the upper part.
Thank you for the clarification Smiley
86  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot on: April 04, 2024, 07:38:53 PM
Do you know if this Taproot support is available for all Safepal hardware wallet devices, S1, S1 pro and X1?
Yes, it's available on all of their devices Smiley
87  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Backlinks anyone? on: April 04, 2024, 06:59:41 PM
Thanks a lot for the bug report!
Also non registered users can vote. It's the stars right under the logo on the left side of a detail page where it says "Rate here"
https://crypto.bookmark.guru/detail/exch
You're very welcome, but somehow I missed the first rating system and assumed the rating system that appeared upon clicking the submit your review button, was the only way to leave a rating [my bad (sorry)].

  • Speaking of ratings, I think it would've been better if non-registered users couldn't influence these ratings in any manner.

The featured listing feature is currently only tested with random sites. Which one is the one that's know for scams? I'll investigate.
I was referring to the one I included in the above screenshots [Changelly]... The search field on the "Scam Accusations" sub-board of this forum is a good starting point.
88  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: April 04, 2024, 05:59:27 PM
You open the jig, insert the washer, stamp a letter, rotate the upper part, stamp the other letter and so on.
Then you open it, remove the stamped washers and insert a new one, then close it again.
So yes, it opens and closes, and you need only one jig.
Did you alter the STL file from your end [specifically referring to the jig itself (apart from your name)]? I remember thoroughly checking the STL files when @n0nce created this thread, but AFAICR the squarish opening on the jig didn't open and close [the only way to reposition it was by lifting it first].
89  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Backlinks anyone? on: April 03, 2024, 01:46:48 PM
@Lapinkulta76
I noticed "one of your listings" has a rating without a review but AFAICS, the only way for us to leave a rating is by leaving a review as well so there might be conflicting parts in the back-end that allow users to bypass this restriction.

BTW, I couldn't find any information about featured listings on your platform, but it appears there are a few of these listings already... Can you share more details about this feature?
- I'm asking this because one of the "platforms" that's quite known for its selective scams is on that list and when someone hovers their mouse pointer over the green checkmark, it says "trusted site"!
90  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tuloy Ang pag Ban Ng Binance Sa Pinas At Posibleng Dahilan. on: April 03, 2024, 12:03:26 PM
91  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: SafePal X1 Edition USDC - Unboxing on: April 02, 2024, 04:35:54 PM
If you have any questions about this wallet, you can ask, so I can also explore this wallet further.
The last time I checked, it didn't have a feature to prove ownership of addresses directly on the wallet... I'm wondering if that's still the case.

The X1 is the closest Safepal model that Wallet Scrutiny came to verifying its source code, but they still couldn't do it.
Considering that they haven't made any changes to its "repository" in the past 7 months, I think it's safe to say X1 would be following in NGrave's footsteps [unfortunately].

To those who might be interested, there are still roughly 3 months left till the end of the event:

92  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: April 02, 2024, 10:06:54 AM
I do have some CAD experience so I get the washer part, but what is that black thing that is holding the washer in place?
That's the jig part... Apart from holding the washer in place, it helps with the spacing and alignment while also providing some protection against hammering our fingers.

And do I need one for each washer (i.e. word)? Huh
No, you only need one to stamp on all of them.

And according to the GIF showing the thing moving, it looks like you just rotate it to hide/reveal the washer? Or does it open/close?
There aren't any moving parts on the jig to open/close that opening.
93  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitget Wallet Reviews on: March 31, 2024, 12:51:13 PM
Also, is Bitget Wallet Open Source?
Despite having a GitHub link in the footer area of their website, their wallet isn't open-source [I already checked all of the repositories]!
- They're not the first wallet provider to lie about their true nature!

Does Bitget wallet support Bitcoin? I failed to find anything about Bitcoin and its blockchain on their website.
Yes, it does: Bitcoin (BTC) Wallet
94  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot on: March 30, 2024, 07:54:30 PM
They are doing interesting things with Synthetic USD and privacy with coinjoins.
Indeed, they are... I just finished listening to a podcast [from Ben (one of their team members)] regarding the former, but I'm still not sure if this is "really" going to be different from other stablecoins that can be frozen in our wallets.

Thanks for noticing and reporting.
You're very welcome Smiley

Somehow, I forgot to mention that SafePal also added support for Taproot addresses back in December of last year [credit goes to @taufik123 for this post].
- A walk-through from SafePal.
95  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My DIY Seed Storage on a soda can Inspired by Pmalek's Guide on: March 30, 2024, 05:46:46 PM
The encoding process is difficult,
The encoding part is easier than it looks [you can significantly improve the situation with the help of a cheap rotary tool and a couple of clamps].

how many of you guys actually prefer this way or any other way than simple write down seed on a paper and secure in a safe box?
I think it's safe to say that none of us would "only" use this method for our backup [it should be combined with other backup methods].

Currently, I am saving towards getting a Trezor One hardware wallet.
Save $20 more to get the Trezor Safe 3 instead [Model One will be discontinued soon (a year has passed without releasing a firmware update)].
96  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SpendCoins - The cryptocurrency business directory on: March 29, 2024, 07:26:44 PM
It's still a work in progress but please feel free to leave constructive feed back.
  • I think it'd be better to add another label [an orange "might require KYC" label] for services that might require KYC in certain conditions [increasing the limits or suspicious activities (e.g. Bitrefill)].
  • A toggle button for light/dark mode would also be nice.
97  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think if Bitcointalk accepted videos? on: March 29, 2024, 06:29:41 PM
If so, do you think it should be possible to share videos from any platform, or just from specific platforms?
I prefer the embedded videos to be from a platform that doesn't force users to view an ad or two [YouTube (e.g. standard videos) is a perfect example of a platform that should be avoided].

And what would be the maximum time a video should take to be available here?
I'm not sure if the length of the embedded videos can put significant stress on the resources of this forum or not [especially since they're hosted somewhere else], but I think a maximum of three minutes would be more than enough for covering a lot of things.

IIRC, there were security risks with embedding such things, so I'm wondering what changed.
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (IMO) they are not worth the same... on: March 29, 2024, 04:56:58 PM
However, I commend you all to take some time and watch how this man made a physical bitcoin with gold and it looks exactly like Bitcoin.
The latter part is quite confusing for me...

Question is will the physical bitcoin worth the same rate like the online Bitcoin? or another design?
As others have mentioned, there's no such thing as a physical Bitcoin, but the different Bitcoin-related collectible coins you're referring to will always have a different value [each design has its unique value as well].

In physical bitcoin, the private keys are simply embedded into physical objects. A physical bitcoin without this embedding is useless.
It's worth noting that some people buy/sell unfunded collectible coins!

(someone created that physical item and funded it, so it is somewhat centralized)
You have a point, but we can mitigate this problem by purchasing from manufacturers that sell unfunded DIY collectible coins.
99  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My first mining project / mini-farm on: March 28, 2024, 09:01:10 PM
P.s. interested to know why you have "mixed feelings" about wooden structures?
It's more affordable than other building materials, but it can also contribute to spreading the fire fast [no matter how flawless our setups appear, we shouldn't rule it out (unfortunately)]...

  • e.g. The wood frame that's supposed to act as a divider between the hot and cold sides with the help of the somewhat combustible insulation board, scares me [especially since it's next to the mining rack].
100  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My first mining project / mini-farm on: March 27, 2024, 05:55:07 PM
Could someone advise why my images no longer show in this post?
It has or rather had something to do with "Imgur's imposed limits on IPs" and to put a stop to this recurring issue [at the time], "theymos decided to also put a limit" on Imgur's embedded images.
- It's worth mentioning that you can post direct Imgur links without any issues.

I want to send this to someone I've sold some miners to (to help them build their first hot/cold setup).
Alternatively, you can show them the "archived link" instead.

What do I need to do to fix this so images show again?
Use another image hosting to reupload/repost them: e.g. TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk

BTW, I quickly went through some of the images and honestly, I have mixed feelings about wooden structures [will take a better look when you reupload them].
