Is anybody selling their shares? Looking to buy some.

It's tough to part with any shares right now with BTC on the rise. Everyone is getting a bigger payout on Friday in terms of buying power. I would part with some shares for 0.00145BTC each, but you may just want to buy directly from LTCgear (use someone like AizenSou's referral link).

Can you offer the same kind of chain of custody with PGP as Mike does with Casascius coins? I just bought a few of the early LTC error sets and it would be nice to have a chain of custody to go with them.  Smiley

I would love to see some of the innovation going on with new cryptos be incorporated into Litecoin.

Edit: such as VOIP calling feature, increase in anonymity for wallets and transactions, etc.

If you look for real info about hashcoin better have a look here:

https://hashtalk.org , https://hashcoin.com/

The thread here at bitcointalk about it is full of old info and FUD.

edit: Best info about litecoin development i can find is here: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=22039.0
Solid but in no way innovative or exciting.

What happens when the devs runs away with the 1/3 fiat backup?

The devs are a multi-millon dollar company and the ICO is backed by real banks.
Very little chance that they run away.

Yes, but will they get shut down for creating a currency backed by the US dollar? Remember, liberty dollar? http://www.gata.org/node/14697

Part of the reason that BTC and LTC are tolerated in many countries is that they are not backed by any fiat currency.
805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is Thriving on: November 11, 2014, 06:02:01 PM
I like the idea of retrofitting it to work with the current CC system, but I am concerned about pegging it to the dollar. I am also a bit concerned with Hashcoin being a product of a specific company rather than a decentralized community.

Back to Litecoin, are there devs out there working on new cool features? I assume there are but I have not pored through Litecointalk to find them.
806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is Thriving on: November 11, 2014, 05:40:09 PM
Lets try the other way round. You said that you feel litecoin reached bottom. Can you explain why?

Is there any serious development going on regarding the coin itself or merchant acceptance?

For me, there are many coins with more features, many with faster transfers and many with faster development speed.
How will litecoin compete with them? Some weeks from now and hashcoin will be out, its very likely that hashcoin has a much higher market-cap than litecoin from the start.
It will almost certainly have higher merchant adoption as well. This will drive litecoin price further down i think and it will have to struggle to keep in top 5 coins next year.

This is an interesting point about Hashcoin. It will either be a great success or fizzle out like ripple did. Myself, I recently invested in several of the original Lealana 10LTC sets. I think LTC will rebound as well as BTC in the next few months.

Does anyone know what features Litecoin devs are working on?
807  Economy / Auctions / Re: (Auction) Cryptolator silver 1BTC 'unchained series' on: November 11, 2014, 01:46:11 PM
0.17 BTC
Do you have any single signature ones?

Hi,

I only have the copper, antique brass, and antique copper with single signature keys. When I first ordered the silver series this was the only option. However, I still think multi-signature is the most secure option and the best option for doing trades. It means you do not have to have 100% trust in any one person. Since the coins are slabbed and graded, you can also have added piece of mind that no one can easily mess with the hologram (great feature if you have kids).

Packs still for sale, just picked another one up with Paypal Wink.

Edit: I take it as a good sign LTCgear is still accepting paypal.

Edit2: I completely forgot to check to see whose referral link I used. I am also curious if referrals are paid out with paypal orders. Anyone get paid for order #12593?

really?! you can buy with paypal now? it was not there yesterday !!

Email Chris if you want to pay with paypal. I think he had to enable something on his end to allow it. It took three emails back and forth over two weeks to get the first order processed.

So you do have his Paypal data, that is good to know.

Yes  Wink. If there were a serious problem, I would provide it to the community.

813  Economy / Auctions / (Auction) Cryptolator silver 1BTC 'unchained series' on: November 10, 2014, 04:38:51 PM
Up for auction is a Cryptolator 1oz silver ‘unchained’ series physical Bitcoin in the denomination of 1BTC (unfunded) http://cryptolator.com/. You will need to add your own bitcoin to the coin. It has been graded by ICG and received a MS-68 rating. This is an excellent rating for a physical bitcoin. ICG is one of only two of the top tier professional coin grading services that accept physical Bitcoins for grading. This coin comes with a certificate from the manufacturer. It has a multi-signature private key under the hologram that adds an additional layer of security for the buyer. You will receive a card with one of the two signatures required to unlock the private key. The second signature required to unlock the private key is secured under the hologram on the coin itself by the manufacturer. So, not even the manufacturer has had access to the private key. The integrity of the coin can be verified with the Cryptolator Dashboard http://dashboard.cryptolator.com/.

Terms of the auction:

1. Bids should be placed in 0.01BTC increments with a minimum starting bid of 0.1BTC.
2. Sniping is discouraged, so any bids within the last 15 minutes of the auction will extend the auction another 15 minutes from the last bid.
3. Shipping is included (domestic or international).
4. Escrow is always accepted. Buyer pays any escrow fees.
5. Auction ends on Thursday, November 13 at 1:00:00 PM EST.
814  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 10 pack of DOGE proofs (5 copper/5 nickel) for $120 via BTC payment on: November 10, 2014, 02:15:15 PM
1 sold, 9 of the 5-pack of 1 Troy Ounce .999 fine silver crypto proof for 1BTC special left.

Any chance you could through in one of the copper and nickel DOGE proofs as well for the 5 for 1BTC deal?

Edit: I really like complete sets. So, anytime there is a full set of available coins for sale, I am definitely interested.

A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation where the operator, an individual or organization, pays returns to its investors from new capital paid to the operators by new investors, rather than from profit earned by the operator.

That's the big question and it is still left open. We know there were FPGA miners at some point and some physical hardware was sold. It appears that at least some of the LTC/BTC used for payments are coming directly from mining pools. LTCgear has in the past accepted paypal for shares despite the risk of charge backs. I have not been able to find anyone who has spoken directly to 'Chris' but that is not unprecedented given the grey area that large mining operations live in. The marketing tactics of using affiliates and creating a sense of scarcity are common marketing practices in both legitimate and illegitimate business models. If we compare the marketing tactics of other cloud mining operations, LTCgear seems a bit tamer than the competitors. The cost of scrypt mining hardware has fallen to the point that LTCgear shares are not 'crazy' low prices and maybe they never were. Maybe this points as much to the toxic environment of exploitative and monopolistic mining hardware companies as anything else. This is my take on this question.

Otherwise, yes we are all well aware and concerned about ponzi schemes when it comes to Bitcoin related businesses.
