Zverev breezed past Shapovalov 6:2, 6:4. Does it mean Sascha is regaining form or just Shapovalov was that bad? His results this season are abysmal so far. Sinner had a tough encounter with Sonego, barely making it in 3 hours time 6:7, 6:4, 6:4.

Bublik v Struff under way now 2:2 no breaks so far.

WTA Berlin Sabalenka v Koudermetova, the Russian was ahead 4:0 in the first set with 2 breaks.

Matches to watch out for:

Rublev v Hanfmann Easy win predicted for a Russian against a German wildcard.
Griekspoor v Hurkacz  Same here, easy bet on an in-form Pole.
822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Portal launches demo for atomic swaps for ordinal inscriptions on: June 22, 2023, 01:05:04 PM
Hi, guys!

I've been aware of Portal for about 2 years now: they're building a way to do cross-chain atomic swaps on layer 2s to increase liquidity on the Lightning network and also build a trustless way to do decentralized exchanges. But more recently, they've slightly shifted focus to also include ordinal inscriptions on Bitcoin's base layer. Basically, you can buy ordinals using the Lightning network (which automatically includes holders of USDT, WBTC or ETH on other chains).

In the near future, I can see this as being a user-friendly way to build digital collectible markets on Bitcoin. Something like OpenSea, but much more elegant in its design and denominated in BTC.

I thought it was an interesting concept, so I wrote an article about it. Hope some of you will find it useful 🫡

https://bitcoin-takeover.com/portal-presents-ordinal-atomic-swap-tech-demo/

I'm not against ordinals per se but I don't like the effect they're causing on the Bitcoin network. If you'll find a way to migrate them completely to LN and stay there, that would be great!
823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hold Bitcoin VS Hold Gold on: June 21, 2023, 08:31:47 PM
In this topic I will tell you about two camps; people who like Bitcoin and people who like Gold. So, Hold Bitcoin or Hold Gold ?. We will see from several aspects; Historical, Creator, Supply, Environmental Issue, and Monetary Function.

Between Gold and Bitcoin BTC

First, let's look at the historical side. Of course, Gold's history is much longer than Bitcoin's. Gold has existed since this world was created. Even thousands of years ago. Gold has been used as money and a medium of exchange since 550 BC in Lydia. While Bitcoin has only existed since January 2009. So Bitcoin historical data is not as far and long as gold.

The second, we see from side of the creator. The creator of Gold is the universe, and the scientists believe gold came from meteorites that rained down on the earth 200 million years after the earth was formed. While Bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto , we still don't know who this Satoshi Nakamoto really is. He could be very smart person, It could be an institution, it could be a community group, or even it could be a creation of AI or Artificial Intelligence (My wild thought). We never know who Satoshi Nakamoto is. Bitcoins are man made, it's man-made. But Bitcoins cannot be re-created or increased in number (The Supply).

The third we will compare the amount of supply. Exactly how much is the maximum amount of gold supply?. We don't know, It could be suddenly find so many new gold sources that can be mined, so when there is additional supply, the assets will no longer be rare and worthless, so in the end the price goes down. While Bitcoin, the maximum supply is only 21 million coins and cannot be added again forever, This is what makes Bitcoin become so rare.

The fourth is environmental issue. Well, environmental issues are becoming an important issue in the 21st century. Many parties (included some companies or firms) are vying to reduce their carbon footprint. For example, China has a carbon-free target by 2060. Mining gold from deep within the earth has a tremendous impact on the environment. And this is irreversible damage, while Bitcoin when compared to gold is more environmentally friendly, Because Bitcoin can be mined using renewable energy or cheaper energy. Bitcoin mining does not permanently damage the environment. In fact, there is no damage at all to Bitcoin mining activities. Because it happens on a computer network.

Fifth, let's look at the monetary function. Even though gold is real money, money from the universe. And it was once considered money. But in the 21st century, gold has no monetary function. In the 21st century, gold is impractical, not portable ( as I said before in my last topic in Bitcoin Discussion) , and instead of making transactions easier, if we use gold , it makes transactions in this digital era more difficult. Wealth in the form of gold is not easy to move, especially across countries, during disasters, or wars. While Bitcoin makes transactions easier, because it can be done quickly through the Lightning Network, it can even cross countries. Bitcoin is also easily broken down to 1 satoshi, 1 satoshi is 0.000000001 Bitcoin, Zero by zero eight times behind. Bitcoins are also portable, Very easy to carry everywhere, because it's digital, can be accessed anywhere, the important thing is that we know our phrase. The price (value) of Bitcoin everywhere must be the same around the world, and as I said, the number of Bitcoins is limited, while the maximum amount of Gold supply is still unknown. Then about the risk, If this risk context is financial value, Gold is definitely very safe, Because the price is more stable and less volatile, but that doesn't mean there's no risk in saving gold, The risk of storing Gold is that the first is a thief, Yup, gold is very easy to steal. Why in ancient times did many kingdoms attack each other? Of course they were looking for gold. For example, in 215 BC, Rome stole gold from Macedonia, or after the Nazi fell, the gold was divided equally between America, Britain and France. Hmm, isn't it kind of theft too?. Gold storage is also difficult, to store large amounts of gold, you need a special place, tight security, and other thing, it's hard to move Gold in large quantities. Bitcoin is here as a solution to all of that. Bitcoins cannot be stolen. The Bitcoin network also can't be hacked.

Well, I think that’s all information about Hold Bitcoin VS Hold Gold. I really want to give you more informations, But I think it will be boring if the thread become so long to read, So I stopped, but also I think it’s a good way too for opening a discussion. I hope this thread could be a good discussion to expand our information and knowledge (well, inspite of there are people also said that News isn’t a Knowledge, I dont agree with that).

I also have a long answer of these questions :
 - Why Bitcoin can't be hacked?
 - So when is the right time to buy Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the new gold. That's why gold bugs are mostly older people, in contrast with Bitcoin, which is mostly being held by the younger investors. Gold, silver and other precious metals' prices are very stable, doesn't fluctuate a lot, by far not so volatile as Bitcoin, therefore less opportunity for huge growth and gains. Just my 2c.
824  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 20, 2023, 11:28:22 PM
Alcaraz v Rinderknech was a very entertaining match today. Alcaraz lost the first set 4:6 but then managed to win 7:5 and finally won the deciding set on a tie-break 7:6. The Frenchman was using his nice and powerful serve a lot, he also played serve and volley and lots of net play in general. This tactics was genius and Alcaraz mostly couldn't come up with any successful response. In the tie-breaker, Alcaraz proved he's world's #2 for a reason getting into the lead 6:1 and eventually winning 7:3.

Meanhile in Birmingham, 43yo(!!!) Venus Williams won her first round match against Camilla Giorgi. It's unbelievable how Venus can be competitive at this age! I've heard somewhere it's her first 1st round win in 2 years time! Impressive. Cool Unfortunately, there was a nasty incident during the match, when Venus fell down and Giorgi yelled "come on".  Shocked
825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 20, 2023, 06:32:33 AM
berrettini retired from Queen's Club Championship! The former winner of Wimbledon has not been able to play this tournament.

He never won Wimbledon - he lost in the final against Đoković.

You are right, I made a mistake while writing my post - finalisti and not winner (and at least for Italians he has won Wimbledon Roll Eyes ).

Of course Djokovic Is absolutely a favorite in this tournament but I will always take a look in younger player or some outsider. I Will not surprised if there Is a surprise this year Wink but lets see, It would for sure a great show as usually

Exactly, let's not forget Nole is 36yo and at that age anything can happen during the 2 weeks of GS. I guess he has some special training schedule before and during the Slams so he doesn't get injured but anyway. The risk at this age is too high - one awkward move and you pull a muscle and bye Wimbledon title. I'm not saying it can't happen to anyone else but the age is just amplifying this issue. Let's wait and see how it goes, we also need to know the draw.
826  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 18, 2023, 07:21:44 PM
Tallon Griekspoor track has caused quite a surprise with his victory at the tournament in Rosmalen. in the final he was also placed higher than his opponent Thompson, but he showed a good level there too. It is strange that last year a Dutchman also managed to win this tournament. Tim van Rijthoven won Rosmalen, then reached the eighth or quarterfinals at Wimbledon, but managed to win a set against Djokovic. After that we never heard from van Rijthoven again. In that respect, it is a lot more stable with the Greek track, who immediately enters the top 30 in the world thanks to his victory. A great year for him.

Tiafoe won the Stuttgart title, defeating Struff in three sets: 4:6, 7:6, 7:6(10:8 ) . Struff gave his all but it was not enough.

Congrats to Andy Murray, first (challenger) title in a long time! Hopefully he stays injury-free and in good health until Wimbledon.  Cool
827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New question for experts on: June 18, 2023, 06:11:47 PM
Hello everyone, I have a new question,
In your opinion, is it worth attending blockchain events?

It depends of what is the purpose of visiting such an event. For education? Probably not worth it. You can watch videos (including some from blockhain meetups from your region) online. Marketing and exposure? Perhaps you could participate then. Nice opportunity of meeting industry insiders and other interesting people. So it's up to you.
828  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: June 18, 2023, 05:54:21 PM
This war will not end

The only way to end the war is that Ukraine refuses to be part of NATO, the reason behind the invasion is if Ukraine takes part in NATO then America will be at the door of Russia and of course, Russia will not allow it. This is a traditional insecurity in Russia. if Ukraine refuses it then I think Putin will go back to his home but it will not happen because Ukraine again and again wants to be part of NATO, so let's see what will happen next.

And guess why it wont happen? Because actually there is no national state in Ukraine. It's an empty shell, created artificially, an illusion. All decisions are being made abroad. And there are at least a handful of countries in Europe, which are being run and governed remotely from the other side of the ocean.
829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I made a mistake shorting BTC at 17k on: June 18, 2023, 10:33:17 AM
I've been holding BTC since 2020. 2 weeks ago when inflation data came out saying core CPI went up a lot i sold my BTC at 18,000$.At first it seemed i made right choice since stocks went almost -3% premarket and i thought we're gonna have final capitulation in both stocks and BTC, that it will go down to 13-15k.

Well when market opened everything just went up, ended like almost +3% at the end of the day. It was the perfect explanation why you shouldn't time the market. I made a huge mistake and i really refuse to buy BTC at now higher price.
It really seems BTC bottomed at 17.5k and stocks(SP 500) at 3480.

Now market is pumping like crazy, its obvious we won't go back to 18k or below.
Good luck to all, i hope you're smarter than me

Such a pity we have to read such posts every Bitcoin cycle. I can't even count how many I have read since 2011. Thousands probably. You're not the first and definitely not the last person to get rekt.

830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are giving too much importance to exchanges on: June 17, 2023, 10:22:20 PM
6 months ago, my savings went down because of the FTX debacle. I've never used FTX, I've never been a customer of this company, but my savings are in BTC, and because of that failure, BTC's value went down, and so went my savings.

Today, bis repetita. I've never used Binance. I've never been a customer of this company, but because the SEC sues Binance, BTC is down, and so are my savings, so I have a message to all bitcoiners out there.

Exchanges and BTC are 2 different things. One exchange going down doesn't mean BTC must follow.
Binance will disappear? I don't give a damn.

To start with, I don't believe Binance will disappear. It's a huge global corporation and even having to leave US market completely won't make it go bust. But yeah, people still overreact when some FUD shows up. I dunno why, perhaps Bitcoin is still young as more mature markets are normally less prone to FUD.
831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to fight with FUD about Bitcoin on: June 17, 2023, 10:05:57 PM
I'm an active participant in quora. Mostly I'm engaged in cryptocurrency discussion in Bengali. My purpose is simply to fight against FUD, misinformation. I have been doing this actively for long time now. I have engaged in debates in quora.

For the last few years, I'm trying to have a debate about Bitcoin with Mohammad Ghoni who was a Professor in a private university of Bangladesh. He claims himself as a economic analyst.

However, his negativity against Bitcoin is totally stupid. In fact, it seems he is biased when talking about Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. He talks nonsense as if he doesn't know anything about Bitcoin. He is spreading wrong information about Bitcoin in quora. It's simple, when you don't know anything perfectly and you want to talk about that, you will only generate some stupid text.

I tried to engage with him in his responses. I'm ready to have a debate with him. The problem is he doesn't reply when someone wants to talk against his stupid opinion. He simply put answer on quora and then leave. I have replied in many of his answer in quora but never got a reply.
Now, I'm getting more concerned because he is spreading negativity in most of the questions. What can I do? Is there anything legal step someone can take, any foundation working on such issue? Or how can I invite him for a debate? I can simply put him on ignore but I'm also concerned about people getting wrong message. That's why I'm thinking something different.

Best thing you could do is ignore. If everybody would ignore his comments he'd just stop posting them. Reposting FUD articles and news is just feeding the trolls and amplifying the panic. Don't reply or repost and they will go away.

833  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 17, 2023, 08:48:33 PM
I have been debating about it with couple of my colleagues whether stay on rent or buy a property.

Let's assume, you are well capable enough to buy a new property through bank loan. Your income supports the mortgage payment so banks are willing to lend you money.

What will be the best route to take? Buy the property or stay in a rented place?

The usual appreciation rate of your property value is around 10% owing to the development work that are ongoing. For rented property, your rent increases by 15% every year.

What's the better option for you and why?

Defo buying is much better. In both cases you're paying money but if you're renting it's money gone and you won't get the property as a result. If you choose to buy, you end up owning the property and the price has most likely gone up too.
834  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 17, 2023, 08:28:40 PM
In addition to the Boss Open, there is the Libema Open, where here Jannick Sinner lost to Emil Ruusuvuori in two sets in the quarterfinals, it's quite surprising that he lost quite easily and of the four players who were in the semi-finals, Emil Ruusuvuori is the only seed who is still holding out and will be the most favorite for the won this tournament because the other seeds had already been eliminated like Medvedev and several other seeds.

Boss Open, Struff vs Hurkacz, I think this will be a semifinal match that will be filled with aces, like Struff when he beat Gasquet who used his serve as capital to gain lots of points as well as Hurkacz, the match can last 3 sets but with a fast time because there won't be many long rallies occurred in this match.

So, my Stuttgart prediction worked and there will be a Tiafoe v Struff final. Against all odds, I think Struff is going to win the title. I won't be betting on this match though, it should be pretty close and it's a risky bet.

Russia's economy defied early expectations for a double-digit economic contraction in 2022,

Semifinals tomorrow in Stuttgart:

Hurkacz v Struff
Tiafoe v Fucsovics

My bets marked in bold. Struff is extremely strong on home soil, grass also suits his playing style very well. H2H is 1:0 Struff but note they met last time back in 2016(!) on clay. Tiafoe is my choice for the second semi. Happy betting guys!
837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you tired of waiting for the jump? Pls Hodl on: June 16, 2023, 09:02:01 PM
This is not the first time bitcoin is experiencing price drop, it only needs few time; months or years to correct and hit another ATH. Few years back many investors took the loss and cashed out their money, believing that bitcoin settled for lesser price. Don't be in such a hurry to move out your investment; bitcoin is falling in price so that it can rise up again. Below is a tweet of a bitcoin investor 12 years ago, that should encourage people to hodl and hope for the best in the market. I know some will never sell, when it hits a high price, but for profits purposes there's no gain in withdrawing an investment now that the price is below or slightly above the amount you bought in the market. Unless you depend on the funds for survival or for other important dispute, keep holding on. Tom only had to wait for 6 years to meet the 2017 pump; a long time indeed! Isn't the wait worth it?

Photo @Rizzo

Brilliant post! As a long time hodler I can confirm every word is 100% correct! It's always darkest before the dawn you know that right? To become successful with your investment you have to be patient. There's no reason to sell now as the price will be going up from here. Halving is on the horizon.  Cool
838  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: June 16, 2023, 07:31:10 PM
There is no failure of the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Russians really had time to prepare their defensive positions well. Solid minefields connected to anti-tank ditches and other engineering barriers. In addition, open flat terrain prevails, in which there is great vulnerability to attackers from kamikaze drones, artillery and aircraft. The Ukrainian command, unlike the Russians, takes care of its soldiers and therefore acts cautiously.

Ohh cautious, that's probably the reason why they used 12k soldiers as cannon fodder, making them attack fortified Russian positions with just their assault rifles. I believe about a half of Leopard 2 tanks Ukraine received from Germany and other EU countries were destroyed by the Russians. Another month or two of such cautiousness and Ukraine will run out of tanks and military personnel.

1. To clarify who is delusional and who is not, let's start by publicly explaining what terrorism is and what a terrorist state is? Smiley Just do not run away as usual with the words "I have already answered this 100500 times, no more". ! Smiley
You seem to be following the news agenda badly. According to the new fashion, it is now customary to blame not Russia, but Ukraine and personally the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny, who developed and directed the implementation of this terrorist act, for sabotage on the Nord Streams. Oops. Grin

It seems that you, in the usual manner of denying reality, take the opinion of some "scribbler" NICOLAS CAMUT, and pass it off as REALITY Smiley With such attitudes - you might as well go on to reposting "news" written on the fence or walls of your building Smiley Although... You do not surprise me, for an adept of the Russian world, and such news, from the fence, will be "reality", if that position suits you Smiley

And in reality - the international recognition of russia as an aggressor country, the Kremlin's underfuhrer is a criminal offender, the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant is a terrorist act organized by the hands of russia. These statuses are official approval at the level of states and governments. Compare the level of quality of information ? Smiley

But back to gas and other "joys of the Russian world". I highly recommend listening to this interview. You will probably ask a question - who is Mikhail Krutikhin?
I will answer in advance: Mikhail Krutikhin is a Russian economic analyst, oil and gas market analyst, translator, journalist, historian and orientalist. He is a former editor-in-chief of the American magazine Russian Petroleum Investor. Yes, this is a well-known specialist, not an empty-nester like Nicholas Kamuth Smiley

By the way - and I recommend everyone to watch this interview. You can switch the credits to your language, believe me - you will learn a lot of interesting things.

Muahaha just check out the related/suggested videos on YouTube when you open this video and everything will become clear:
"Ukraine will win the war before the end of the year"
"Putin will be shot down"
"Russia is running out of oil"
"Mutiny in Kremlin"

Does someone actually believe these "facts"? They look exactly like your posts. Zero credibility.  Grin

The guy in the video can be seen in pro-western shows and interviews pretty frequently. I bet he's being paid to say that or has some reason to hate Russia? He's not a "specialist" he's just a paid shill.

Regarding the article, I also don't believe Ukraine did this (blew up the pipes). They don't have resources for such a mission. It was a CIA/MI6 operation with some support from Nordic (Danish/Norwegian?) military/special services.

Gasquet beat Tsitsipas in three sets, did not watch the match and only got to see the live scorer of the first set where Tstasipas was already 3-0  but Gasquet managed to make this set go through a tiebreak and he take the first set, and the third set was decisive for this old player to determine the outcome for him. Congratulations on the profit if you end up betting on Gasquest.
Facing Struff in the quarter-finals Gasquet is still not a favorite but this time the odds are even lower at just 2.80, so Gasquet still has a chance to win and be in the semi-finals.

Yeah, the French veteran keeps surprising me. I mean he's 36yo never was too good physically, he's just 183cm(6.0), one-handed backhand and with that funny buttcap flare on his racket. All of a sudden, he wins a TOP10 player, much younger and more athletic than himself. Perhaps he's going to retire soon and tried to do it with a bang? Anyway, my bet is on Struff.
