They are using less chips per board.

Thanks.  I didn't notice that the first time I looked at it.  I was about to pull the trigger last night on a Batch 5 and I told myself I'd wait until morning.  Now I'm kicking myself for not ordering it last night for a little over 4BTC.  Oh well.

Batch 4 and 5 are sold out.

For Sale is
ANTMINER S7 BATCH 6

AntMiner S7 BATCH 6 with 4.05th/s is available to order. Shipping may start between Dec. 7 ~ Dec. 17 (if shipped out 5 days later than it, it won't be considered as delay ).

Chip quantity per unit: 145x BM1385
Rated Voltage: 11.60 ~ 13.00V
Dimensions: 301mm(L)*123mm(W)*155mm(H)

Interesting decision on their part... looks like still has 3 blades.  So were talking 9 PCIe + 1 controller.... for even less hash.  I was hoping to see a dual blade with this rumored version.

I'm guessing quality control was not working they kept having to check if each  hashboard ran at higher freq.  So I'm guessing they lowered it all and now they don't have to do as much quality control, and not having to sell higher and lower freq version.

strange though because it still says default freq is 600M

Does anyone have a spare coupon for Batch 4 or 5?

What coupon? Did Bitmain send out new ones? Last ones expired on Oct 12.

I'm on the fence about ordering one since there doesn't seem to be any used hardware for sale.  If they did issue coupons I'd probably jump on it if I could get my hands on one.
824  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 31, 2015, 03:15:53 AM
Curious, has anyone updated cgminer on their SP20E to another version besides 4.7.0 that's in the 2.6.14 firmware?

Interested in this as well.  Installed 2.6.4 on an sp31, no change to cgminer.

If you change the ExtraFlag setting to 2 for extranone and restart it switches over to cgminer 4.8.0 if that helps at all.
825  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 20 x Antminer S4+. Five Months used. Almost new. on: October 31, 2015, 03:11:01 AM
How much for shipping to Las Vegas, zip code 89148?

FWIW, he got a quote for me to AZ, so it's probably not THAT different, but the cheapest was $9/kg, and on Bitmain's site they say it's 14.4kg, so that's $130 in shipping per S4+.   Hope that helps anyone else interested.

Thanks for the info.  Overseas shipping kills just about any chance for a deal here.
826  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 31, 2015, 02:38:25 AM

500 x SP50 = 11 320 x S7 (maximum)

My already shipped 23  x S7 are today more than 1 x Sp50   Grin
Three months earlier than Q1

It sounds like to me they have a little way to go to secure funding to even start making these units so I'm guessing late Q1 so even more like four to six months.
827  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 31, 2015, 01:14:26 AM
From latest SEC filing. Predicting $60M revenue for 2016 and generally SP50s in Q1 2016 as long as they can raise more money. I'd be very surprised if this filing wasn't specifically so they can provide the information to more potential investors.

I'd be thrilled to see only a 6% monthly network difficulty increase.

I am having nothing but trouble with my new S7's.

Within a day of powering them up some heat sinks came off 2 of the boards from 1 miner, resulting in 2 out of 3 boards dying.

Today the same thing happened again which also resulted in 2 boards dying. I can only see 1 loose heat sink on 1 board in the 2nd miner but I am thinking that either I can't see other loose heat sink or the sudden drop of one board caused a spike to the 2nd board which caused it to die....

Bitmain asked me to connect each hashing board one by one to see if it works. Soon after I did this 2 more heat sinks fell off right near the out fan on miner 2 which caused melting of power connectors and fan! I am trying to get my warranty which I am damn well entitled too and by doing as Bitmain asks it is causing further damage!

Wow that looks really bad.  Could've burned down the house.  Sorry to hear about all your troubles and I hope that Bitman comes through for you.  I wonder if it would be better to run these things on the side so that gravity doesn't pull down as much on the heat sinks.

I believe jtoomim has contacted SPT regarding a GB - I had email contact with them a while ago regarding this, but there has been no movement thus far. Maybe if you contact jtoomim & express your interest it will help get things going?  Smiley

Man I wish I has a spare $30-40k laying around.  Is it just me or do most people have to think about buying shares of a SP50 vs buying a whole SP50 for their private use?

maybe in a few years we will hear a story of a guy who either motrgaged his house of took a loan to get either a few of these babies or straight coins.
one can get 100 btc for $30K. This is a huge number going forward, considering halving, etc.

That would make a great story and I know we all here hope that BTC skyrockets too.  I'd never have the balls to do something like that though.

831  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PSU's on: October 28, 2015, 02:09:08 AM
Seriously folks...

This an S3.

Find ANY 430w or 460w or whatever the cheapest Cooler Master, Antec, or whatever other $5 power supply that Goodwill has lying around or you can scrap out of some old PC.

Try the goodwill outlet for the $0.89/lb stuff.

You'll want one with at least two 15A 12v rails, or a single 12v rail of 30A or higher, try to find one with 2 PCI-E 6-pin connectors already attached, otherwise you may need to use the motherboard pins in creative fashion or get a HDD style molex to PCI-E adapter (these are usually 2 into 1), but will often cost you as much as a power supply, even though they shipped free with video cards for a couple years there and are plentiful in surplus locations and labs everywhere.

Think CHEAP!  This is an S3, right now, if your power is under $0.10 USD/kw, and you get a cheap enough supply, depending on what you paid for the unit, you might make some coin!

Good luck!

OP mentions that he has free electricity so it should be pretty easy for him to mine enough to cover the cost of the PSU and the S3.  Cheap is great if you're looking for faster ROI but in my mind I'd like something reliable that I could upgrade with.  Like if you went with the bare minimum to run the S3 with, if you ever decide to upgrade the S3 to say an S5, you'd have to buy another PSU either one powerful enough to run the S5 or use two PSUs to run a single S5.  I guess it depends on how much you plan to grow your farm or not.

I might be interested in a PSU philipma1957 if the OP's not interested.

If you have a 200 AMP Main Service Panel, you are limited to 200 Amps REGARDLESS of whether it's 120 Volt or 240 Volt.  A 30 Amp 240 Volt circuit does not take away 60 Amps of 120 Volt.  A 30 Amp 240 Volt circuit has taken 30 Amps of 120 Volts [When measured in amps].  The main service panel is limited in "AMPS" not volts!  Yes, it's limited in volts in the sense that your main service panel in you home is rated for 120V/240V.  Other panels, especially for industrial use, can be rated at much higher voltages.

So, again, your main service panel is limited in amps NOT volts.  A 30A/240V circuit does not mean 60 amps worth of 120 Volt circuits have been kept from installing in the main service panel.  I will say this:  60 amps worth of 120 Volts has the same power (watts) as 30 Amps of 240 Volts.  You could have a 30 amp/120 Volt circuit.  However, it would not have as many WATTS (POWER) as a 30 amp/240 Volt circuit.  The main service panel is not limited with a measurement in watts.  It is limited with a measurement in AMPS.  Your amount of watts (power) used in the main service panel will be determined by what voltage or voltages used in the circuits wired to the main service panel.

Thanks for this info.  Very informative for me.  I'm learning more and more about electrical here.

What is the benefit of making a S7+

I have the same question.  How much could they really be saving on two controller boards.  I think I would rather have the extra controller boards just in case one of them breaks you're not down 4.8th for a month trying to get a replacement.

Yea, those are nice.... my DataLogger switch cost be $0.89 /lb .... at a Goodwill outlet  .... something like $3-$4 it cost...  Grin

LOL nice I didn't know they sold those things by weight.

I just believe if and/or when 14/16nm chips are available in rigs, they will be quite pricey.
They are taking preorders and have a price for bulk buyers
Quote
“The miners are now available for pre-order at a price of 0.87 BTC with a minimum order of 333 miners which is 1 petahash,” Virgilio Lizardo Jr., Head of International at Bitbank told Bitcoin Magazine in an exclusive interview. “This price will be available until November 11, 2015. This winter, the miners will be available with no minimum order required; the price at this time has not been decided yet.”

I wonder if anybody will do a group buy.
837  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 5x S5 -- 2x S3 on: October 22, 2015, 02:52:54 PM
Where are these units located now?
838  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S7 died, keeps hashing with fans on low, S5 burnup all over again? on: October 22, 2015, 12:49:06 AM
At least since you have multiple S7 units you can use one BB to run at least two of them.  Even if one of your BB dies you can try to connect all 6 boards to a single BB and run it like that unit Bitmain gets you a new one.
839  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: want to buy pcie cables on: October 21, 2015, 02:19:59 PM
I think quakefiend420 in TX had some with ring terminals but I'm guessing that they 're 24" and not the 36" that you want.  You might also want to try Klondike_Bar in CA or Finsky in CA has 36" PCIe to PCIe and yoou can just cut off one end and strip it.  I would consider getting the 24" PCIe to PCIe and cutting them in half and the stripping them down.  Then connect a few 24" long 10 gauge wires to the PSU posts and then use some kind of 10 gauge barrel (butt) connector to connect the stripped PCIe ends on to it and some shrink wrap.  Good luck with that PSU.  Let us know how it works out.

Funksy seem busy to. I haven't managed to get any reply from him since the time you referenced him. Hopefully i can get those long cables in the near future, i been needed some for quite a while, now.

If you mean Finsky, then I believe he said in his thread that he is away this week and only has mobile access.
