881  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanctions at work:Russia posts its second highest deficit in the post-Soviet era on: June 03, 2023, 09:46:26 PM
And here I was, almost convinced that sanctions don't work since
- Russia's GDP drops only 2.5% insignificantly while Germany's economy crashes 0.3% which is a disaster /s
- Russia is experiencing deficit after deficit every month, but I was told this is normal
- Gazprom is cutting dividends pay for the first time in decades, but this is also good for god knows what reason

and now this shit, almost unexpectedly:

https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/commodities/russia-economy-drop-industrial-output-labor-shortage-ukraine-war-mobilization-2023-5
Quote
Russian industrial production fell 5% in April from the prior month, according to the economy ministry.

and what a surprise, they managed to fix unemployment at 3.3%.
Of course, with hundreds of thousands fleeing the country, hundreds of thousands killed and maimed for life and every single foreign worker fleeing the country not willing to die for Russian Mir, it was pretty obvious!

I wonder what the long-term plan is right now,
https://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/russia-population
Quote
Births per Day   3,766
Deaths per Day   4,760
Migrations per Day   -373
Net Change per Day   -1,368
Population Change Since Jan. 1   -207,936

maybe kidnap some children from other countries? Oh, wait!!!!!!

I checked this https://worldpopulationreview.com website and it seems that most EU countries for example have negative, zero or close to zero population growth. For example Italy: -0.28%, Greece: -0.42%, Portugal: -0.23%, Bulgaria: -1.39%, Croatia: -0.54%, Lithuania: -1.15%, Latvia: -1.1% and they're not even at war with any other country! Financially and industrially advanced Japan is down -0.53% on population. They're probably starving under some kind of undisclosed sanctions?  Grin  Just to remind you that Russia is merely -0.19% down and still nr.9 country in the world population-wise. And now the true champion, the leader of population growth list with a whopping -7.45%... drumroll... Ukraine!  Grin

It seems that seyboth wild journey in the French open has come to an end the only impressive performance he showed was against medvedev when he beat him despite being a heavy underdog but today against nishioka he lost unexpectedly, nishioka will face etcheverry next he has a good chance making it to the quarter final.

This is a problem with lower ranked players on atp tour. Once they win a big match against a big player from top 5 or top 10 they think they have done a big thing. But then they lose against an opponent that is on the same level as them or worst. In womens tennis its different . But still i think we can expect more from him in the future.
They don't have the consistency in performance. Altmaier, who won against Sinner in a very competing match have lost to Dimitrov in a very easy way 6-4 6-3 6-1. In the match between Zverev and Tiafoe, both are giving tough competence. Tiafoe have won a set and Zverev is in must win situation in the second set and it looks like the set will move to tie breaker.

Zverev v Tiafoe is still under way and Sascha won the second set 7:6 and then took the third one easily 6:1. It's now 2:2 in the 4th set and things are looking promising for the German. If you're looking for a last minute bet perhaps it's a nice opportunity to bet on Zverev.
883  Economy / Economics / Re: My wealth plan for next 3 years on: June 03, 2023, 09:16:57 PM
My wealth plan for next 3 years

I will take loans becouse fiat value is high so usd value ATH.
I will invest in btc, gold, silver becouse money is now expensive so when i borrow now the bull run Will make profit i make profit and from the profit i make money for myself and i can Pay the % to lender.
Off course also i'll buy AIDOGE coin becouse 1000x i will make with this coin after 2 years.
The world economy right now is like some shtcoin pumping and when everybody short the whales Will pump it more to make you FOMO in exacly after 2 years.

The whales Are fed, ws,ecb, boe and other big Banks the world is like some shtcoin what the whales keep pumping until everybody Will lose their guard and Will buy the top becouse of FOMO.

I have 2-3 years to get out of the assets but right now i'll get rid of money i'll invest all the money becouse i know upcoming inflation will eat all the value of money.
In the next 2 -3 years my money only Will be bitcoin If i want to buy bread and Milk i just convert btc to fiat other then that not smart to hold any fiat currency.

And off course after one year i start buying by DCA USDC becouse USDC gona be world reserve currency so off course i'll invest in this early.

Frankly, this sounds like a plan to get REKT to me  Grin  investing in some random shitcoins is bad for your financial health. I recommend you to stick to BTC and perhaps some 2-3 reputable shitcoins if you want to diversify but that's it. I haven't heard about AIDOGE before so I presume it's the shittiest of shitcoins.  Cool
884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is cryptocurrency a financial pyramid on: June 03, 2023, 09:07:49 PM
I came across a news on Quora and I went into a very deep reason on the reality  of life and judge from the article on the post, I couldn't agree less with the author/writer because at the long run, it seems money is just circulating and the moment  money seizes circulation, even the price of bitcoin  is affected, hence the price of bitcoin  would increase if demand increases and demand can only increase when there is more money to spend.

So I had to bring this to the forum to know if you guys also think, cryptocurrency is some ways a financial pyramid.
Let's discuss please

Haha everybody knows a ponzi scheme should have a person or a group who benefit from it and eventually run away with the funds of unsuspecting participants. So tell me now does Bitcoin look like a ponzi to you?  Grin

At this moment Novak is playing against Alejandro and it seems that without many surprises Novak is winning and could end the game with victory, something that is expected to happen even before the game started, he was already coming to this game as the Big favorite so I hope he wins the game. also in a few minutes we will have the game of Stefanos Tsitsipas against Diego Sebastián Schwartzman, in this game also the favorite which is Tsitsipas is also being seen as a likely winner, with odds of @1.10 in favor of Tsitsipas I don't see any surprises in this game , so in my opinion Tsitsipas will come out of this game with victory

then we will have the game of Carlos Alcaraz against Denis Shapovalov, also in this game the favorite that Carlos Alcaraz has a very low odd, something like @1.04 honestly is very low against Denis Shapovalov's @12.00, I wonder if anyone will have the courage to bet on Denis Shapovalov to win this game, Denis Shapovalov occupies the number 32 position and has been a player who doesn't focus much on the games, this is visible because of his behavior during the games, while the one who currently occupies the number 1 is one of the big favorites to win this tournament, in my opinion we won't see any surprises in this game, Alcaraz will win the game

Tsitsipas played an easy game because Schwartzman was disappointing. Except for a few moments when Schwartzman demonstrated his quality, he failed to play even average tennis most of the time. If it wasn't for Tsitsipas who had some series of unforced errors I think in the second and the third set, it would have been over even faster than that. Tsitsipas was of course the favorite in this game, but I did expect Schwartzman to be a bit harder to beat.

Djokovic is going toe-to-toe with essentially everyone on and off the court! He is fully into politics and doesn't hold back with his opinion even though it is not allowed. The stadium booed at him because he also provoked the crowd and his opponent kind of when he cheered about his second set win in an unusually happy way. Even though he is going to be the best in terms of Grand Slam titles won, he has never been the most popular at all. Not that it is necessary, but he likes to be hated and he shows it.

Got some insider info yesterday that Djokovic had some issues with his neck so I didn't bet on him v Davidovich Fokina. Anyway, Djokovic is known to be an arrogant pr*ck and a real arsehole in the tennis world. Despite winning lots of tournaments, including GS titles he failed to win the hearts of tennis fans. He is lagging behind in popularity behind Rafa and Roger and all his efforts to match them are in vain. He looks so artificial in whatever he's doing to increase his popularity. Shy Rafa and well-mannered majestic Roger leave him no chance.  Cool

887  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.info API down? on: June 01, 2023, 09:24:59 PM
Their status page[1] doesn't indicate any kind of downtime related with their API. Their Twitter account[2] also hasn't shared anything related with that recently and the only complain that I found on Twitter was this user[3] who hasn't got a reply from Blockchain.info as of now, which is odd. Perhaps opening a ticket in their system[4] would provide you with a faster reply from their side?

[3]https://nitter.it/oduchris/status/1664239397527597056

Thanks, that tweet looks totally related to this issue. I did contact them finally, using their trading platform support form. I really hope they'll forward it to the person(s) in charge of the API. API itself seems to be functioning, it's just the url I provided above has issues.

P.S. The status page seems to monitor just the exchange and nothing else.
888  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Scams Bitcoin Mixers List and Services closed on: June 01, 2023, 08:52:52 PM
What shocked me the most is the number of scam mixers. And I believe that's just a small fraction of all scams out there. Another shocking thing is that all mixers closed by the law enforcement also got their BTC seized. Why don't they have any protection against these raids? Or were the owners/employees made to disclose login details and wallet passwords?
889  Economy / Web Wallets / blockchain.info API down? on: June 01, 2023, 08:42:29 PM
Hi,

Any idea what happened to blockchain.info API? Is it still functional? This url: https://api.blockchain.info/customer/signup gives me a 503 error. It's one of the oldest and most popular APIs around and it would be a pity if it would go down forever. I also don't see any options to contact the support - it seems they offer support for their trading platform/exchange and wallet services but no mention of API anywhere?
890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 01, 2023, 08:28:23 PM
Sinner vs. Altmaier. Difficult match for Sinner. Altmaier demands everything from him and could cause a small sensation with a little more power.
Some matches have unexpected results. In many matches the supposedly weaker opponent manages to win at least one set. Or Bautista for example. Lost in 5 sets against Varillas (ATP Rank 94). The odds were not so bad and one should have bet on Varillas early in set 3.
The match was interesting and took more than 5 hours, quite impressed with what was shown by the two players especially Daniel Altmaier, when finally he was able to take the 4th set, and the fifth set became so very wild for both players but Altmaier was able to take this final set even though he had looked nervous so that several match points failed to be completed, this was a very emotional victory for the non-seeded players.
When we see the seeded players being defeated by the non-seeded players through a very tight match, it's a fun thing because the match went very interesting, so this competition does not always have seeded players even though in the end it is still the seed who will become the champion.

This match was easily one of the best I have ever seen in recent times. Sinner was supposed to win this match and was also heavily favoured by a lot of experts. But it was a really hard-fought victory by Altmaier. He took his opponent into deep water. This was a test of temperament and character for both of them.

In the end, it was really great to see Altmaier come away with a win from this match. Even though he was certainly a little nervous, he did not let the nervousness get to him. Unexpected result but these are the type of matches that I am actually happy to be on the wrong end of the prediction.

Yeah, a real thriller this one. Level of tennis showed by both players was simply unbelievable! Both players showed some ridiculous skill even after 5 hours of play. It's the 5th longest match in history of RG! Altmaier wanted this win so badly he even cried after the match. As to the Italian, I believe he ran out of energy and his muscles started to let him down.

Zverev v Molcan about to finish now, good opportunity for Sascha to end this in three.

894  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: May 27, 2023, 09:03:14 PM
Wait, are you aware Bakhmut has fallen to the Russians? Sorry, if it was a spoiler for you. You'll probably find out next week!

The message of the head of Wagner PMC Prigozhin and Russian propagandists that their "second army of the world" after ten months of incessant attacks on the small town of Bakhmut, finally took it, does not correspond to reality. Most of Bakhmut is now indeed controlled by the Russian occupiers, but its defenders retain control over some industrial and infrastructure facilities and the private sector of Bakhmut in an area called "Airplane" in the southwestern part of Bakhmut.

You are delusional. President Zelensky has admitted Bahmut has fallen by saying "Bakhmut is only in our hearts".
https://nypost.com/2023/05/21/zelensky-bakhmut-is-only-in-our-hearts-after-ukraine-loses-control-of-destroyed-city-to-russia/

Whatever your source could be, it's at least 4-5 days old. Bakhmut is under Russians now. Period.

Quote from: Argoo
But it is too early for Russians to rejoice. Having retreated from the central part of the city, the Armed Forces of Ukraine organized a “half-boiler plan” for the invaders in Bakhmut and now they “take” the enemy into a semi-circle due to the advantage of control over the high-altitude terrain surrounding this city. The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully bypass Bakhmut from the north and south and gradually, taking into account the dry weather, begin to implement the operational encirclement of the Russians in Bakhmut using heavy equipment. Given that the city is located in a lowland, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the ability to actually shoot the enemy from artillery from the hills around Bakhmut, and it is rather difficult for Russians to hide in its ruins, since the city is almost completely destroyed.

Possibly, but you're not providing any source so this info is hard to verify. And I believe claims that Bakhmut had been "completely destroyed" are overestimated. Same thing happened in Mariupol but it's almost completely rebuilt now.

If you carefully read the text to which you refer with the quoted words of Zelensky that Bakhmut is only in our hearts, then the following is indicated there:
“For today, Bakhmut is only in our hearts,” he said. “There is nothing in this place.”
The Russian ministry statement on the Telegram channel came about eight hours after a similar claim by Wagner head Yevgeny Prigozhin. Ukrainian authorities at that time said fighting for Bakhmut was continuing."

That is, after these words, the President of Ukraine Zelensky added: "There is nothing in this place." This indicates that Zelensky, saying that Bakhmut is only in our hearts, meant that he was actually completely destroyed, and not captured by Russian troops. This conclusion is confirmed by the fact that further, behind these words, it is written: "The Ukrainian authorities at that time declared that the battles for Bakhmut were continuing." The fact that the battles for Bakhmut continue can now be heard and seen in various news channels, and I see no reason to give confirmation of this.
Why don't you stop making up facts and stupid excuses. Bakhmut is not completely destroyed, it can also be seen in the latest videos from the city (filmed by Ukrainian drones btw). The same had been claimed by the UA authorities regarding Mariupol. They kept saying that Mariupol is completely destroyed which was far from being true. "The Ukrainian authorities at that time declared that the battles for Bakhmut were continuing". They made the same claims regarding Mariupol long after it had fallen. This is simply laughable.

Quote from: Argoo
Your statement that Mariupol is now almost completely rebuilt is also not true.
Mariupol was surrounded by Russian troops during the early days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022. Since the beginning of March, it has been under blockade, since the second half of May, the city has been in complete occupation.
About 130,000 people remained in Mariupol at the beginning of August. Before the full-scale invasion, 530 thousand people lived in the city. According to various estimates, between 20,000 and 25,000 civilians died during his "liberation" by the Russians; there is no exact data.
20-25k civilians were killed, but were they all killed exclusively by the Russians? I don't think so. There were numerous reports of UA troops hiding in residential buildings, placing MLRS units between houses, near schools etc. If you're trying to say that every civilian in Mariupol had been killed solely and exclusively by the Russians, well...

Quote from: Argoo
The Russians damaged by shelling 1800 high-rise buildings in Mariupol. The occupiers have identified 934 buildings that are gradually being demolished, 400 houses have already been completely destroyed, 50% of the city no longer exists. In order to hide from the world community the fact of the destruction of this city, the invaders continue to destroy Mariupol by thoughtless demolition of houses, leaving Mariupol residents without housing and things.
Nearly the only miraculously surviving house, which was built before the full-scale invasion as SBU official housing, the occupiers are now passing off as built by them. A few other houses are just being repainted without any major repairs. That's all the publicized restoration of the city of Mariupol.
So, you mentioned yourself that "50% of the city no longer exists" which means Mariupol has not been completely destroyed? It seems that you forgot what was it you lied about last time  Grin Just to remind you UA authorities claimed that Mariupol had been wiped off the face of the earth completely. Btw, would be nice to see the link to the source where you got this info. Just like your compatriot drbeer you fail to provide valid sources frequently. Some buildings can't be rebuilt and should be demolished that's normal if the damage had been substantial.

897  Economy / Economics / Re: Retirement Age for Workers - Does this Make Sense? on: May 24, 2023, 11:00:14 PM

France's Constitutional Council on Friday approved an unpopular plan to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64, in a victory for President Emmanuel Macron after three months of mass protests over the legislation that have damaged his leadership.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/france-retirement-age-raise-64-approved-constitutional-council/

This so-called measure has several benefits and drawbacks. The elder employees can benefit from their years of experience if they are retained on the job for longer, which is one advantage. The drawback of this is that many workplaces will report low performance because there is an inverse relationship between a person's success at work and their deterioration in cognitive and physical capacities.

Regardless, what I think is that the government shouldn't shove it down the throat of people. Workers who are approaching retirement age should be given a choice after appraisal to keep working or retire.

What sense does this make? Would you agree or disagree?

It's a necessity and should be treated as such. The population of Europe is growing old and combined with low birth rate it's a potential disaster. Soon there will simple not be enough people to pay the pensions for the existing pensioners. In some countries the increase is not so dramatic (62 to 64 in France) while in some it's more radical (60 to 65 for example). In any case, we'll have to adapt to that, otherwise the whole pension system will collapse.

899  Economy / Economics / Re: US Debt Default: Good or bad for crypto? on: May 24, 2023, 10:19:55 PM
What do you think? Is a US default good or bad for crypto in the short term? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
I think that in the event of a default, in the short term, the price of bitcoin will fall into an area of increased turbulence due to a head-on collision of two strong trends - on the one hand, the price will drop sharply, because bitcoin belongs to the class of high-risk financial assets, on the other hand, the price will rise sharply, because that the network hashrate is stable, blocks continue to be mined at intervals of an average of every ten minutes, and a fall in the dollar automatically means an increase in bitcoin in the btc/usd pair.

I agree, perhaps a flash crash is possible, with an immediate or not so immediate pump due to fluctuating exchange rates. Just want to add that any failure of any FIAT is positive for Bitcoin in the long run.

First, before we discuss anything please provide the sources for this info you've posted. No sources - no discussion, because there are no facts to discuss.  Grin

Getting back to economy, I've heard the US is approaching a default: https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/23/business/prepare-debt-default/index.html among others, the military will be affected, pay delays are possible. Uncle Sam is not even begging, it's just drowning in trillions of debt.  Grin

The classic position of the terrorist country:
- it's not us, give proof!
- here is the evidence!
- this is not evidence! We need other evidence!
- good - here are new proofs for you!
- no, this is not the evidence we need! Where is the signature? Where is the notarial certificate?
- here are documents, here are signatures, here is a photo/video, here is a recording of conversations!
- it's all fake, you haven't proven anything! And we have a witness, he said something completely different, and we believe him

I am not even interested in you, dear be.open, at least he is really trying to find a more or less adequate answer, even if he twisted the information, but at least not so stupidly Smiley

In the meantime, on the topic, new FACTS from Russia Smiley

- The State Duma on Tuesday adopted amendments to the law "On the procedure for exit and entry", expanding the powers of border guards in the work with passports of citizens traveling abroad.
The passport is subject to "seizure within the limits of competence by the court, investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, executive power in the field of internal affairs and its territorial bodies, border bodies of the Federal Security Service, customs authorities," the law states.

Now no one will escape the fate of giving their life to the fantasy of a crazy pathetic parody of the Führer Smiley

- The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, a pitiful parody of the Fuhrer, demanded that measures be taken in response to the mass emigration of citizens that swept the country after the start of the war and the announcement of mobilization (which, according to the patient, had never happened in Russia).
"In connection with this, it is necessary to take additional measures to create attractive financial, social and other mechanisms for preserving human capital, reducing the outflow of the population of the Russian Federation abroad," says the decree.

- News about the growing well-being of Russians Smiley
In Nizhny Tagil, a Uralvagon plant worker cut himself in front of his superiors. According to the worker, he pays the mortgage and feeds his family, but at the same time he received ten times less salary for April - 11 thousand rubles.

PS Uralvagon is the "biggest" according to the Kremlin's propaganda, producing "unparalleled tanks" and other scrap metal. About which be.open spoke, as an object of the military industry of Russia, which works in 3 shifts and by itself, brings excellent income Smiley

- A little about the work of propaganda mass media, which consume huge funds from the Russian budget:
Z-channels made fun of the allegedly killed Ukrainian "Kraken fighter", insulting him in every possible way
Only then did it become clear that this was a Wagnerian who died near Bakhmut, and the photo was sent to the "military officials" by a Ukrainian activist. Everything had to be deleted urgently Smiley

- A few words about society and a beautiful, rich life Smiley
Irkutsk teachers refused to pay their salaries for the "special operation". To understand - everything is so good in Russia and according to plans - that they introduced mandatory, compulsory, deductions from the wages of civil servants, for the failed SVO Smiley

- Pupils of four schools in Moscow will start studying African languages from September 1, 2023. Schoolchildren will study Swahili, Amharic and Yoruba. A little later, they promise to add other African languages.
At this time, African children are learning... English, guess why? Smiley

- The Federal Tax Service faced a collapse in personal income tax collections — a key source of money for regional budgets, which provides subjects with every third ruble of their own income.
According to the results of the first quarter of 2023, personal income tax revenues fell by 20.2%, the Ministry of Finance reported in a preliminary assessment of the implementation of the consolidated budget of the Russian Federation.
In monetary terms, personal income tax collections decreased by 250 billion rubles and amounted to 950 billion, and their fall was the second largest among all types of state income: only oil and gas tax collections fell more strongly - by 45% compared to January-March 2022.
