881  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to trade short term in crypto,, on: February 03, 2023, 11:26:28 AM
If you're really serious about getting into trading, you can learn the majority of the fundamentals here[1], but that doesn't mean you'll start making money head on; in fact, you'll probably lose more than winning.

Also, there's this subreddit that has the most comprehensive guide when it comes to day trading.

No wonder why Nigeria placed top 1 for searching "how to buy bitcoin"

From what I understand, the Nigerian government is replacing or redesigning their "old" banknotes, rendering them unusable for physical exchange; essentially, making old banknotes worthless while making the exchange process much more difficult – so people are opting for cashless transactions.

Isn't this an old trick used by the government to subject people with large sums of money to taxation?
883  Other / Meta / Re: Good move or nah? on: February 03, 2023, 06:53:04 AM
That's fine as long as you supervise him when he's doing bitcoin transactions, or asking questions on the forum. The only thing I can think of when a child is on a forum is that they frequently ask questions that have already been asked multiple times so educating him/her about the rules will suffice.

Nonetheless, learning bitcoin does not discriminate against age,sex or nationality, unless he is doing some sort of trading or gambling which is a BIG NO.
884  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ChatGPT and Trading on: February 02, 2023, 11:37:19 PM
ChatGPT is limited in what it can accomplish, particularly if you are unaware of what you are doing.

Obviously, ChatGPT can't help you predict the next price action of a particular coin/asset because, in the first place; NOBODY DOES. If there's one thing an A.I. can help you, it's by asking for a script that you can use to automate your trading based on your strategy. And you can only do so if you are proficient in programming, have a trading strategy in place, and know how to trade.

Trust me, that chatbot is pretty good in providing source code that only needs a few tweaks based on your liking.

886  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Mining Stocks on: February 02, 2023, 02:49:55 PM
First time hearing crypto mining stock though so I made a quick google search and found this reddit post. Maybe it could help.

But why bother investing in bitcoin mining stocks if you can just directly buy bitcoin itself? I mean you can't be sure if a mining company can sustain their business unless they have access to a cheaper electricity cost and cutting edge ASIC miners in which majority of them relies on these factors.

I apologize for bursting the bubble, but trading will likely cause you more harm than good, given that you are new to cryptocurrency, unless you have prior experience trading forex, stocks, or other speculative markets.

Because if there aren't any, learning about bitcoin and the risks that come with it should be your utmost priority over trading at the moment.
889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I decided to buy some fractions of BTC after discussion with members here on: February 02, 2023, 01:03:31 PM
Although, I made mention of not holding any bitcoin then, along the line majority of comments and reply on the thread I created advised me to buy and hold bitcoin, which for me it will sets as an a good example before I could possibly talk to people about bitcoin.
Welcome to the rabbit hole!

Now that you have first-hand experience with possessing a fraction of bitcoin, it would be helpful to be familiar with the fundamentals of the wallet, especially Electrum or Bluewallet. Read their documentation, learn how to interpret the data on a bitcoin transaction, be aware of potential malware and mistakes a beginner might make when performing various transactions, etc.

At the end of the day, holding bitcoin over the long haul is a matter of how you can optimally protect your asset by constantly learning and applying what you have learned thru actual testing and holding. You cannot preach what you do not have.

891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how the name of Bitcoin is spreading globally! on: February 01, 2023, 09:04:27 AM
What I think is wrong with this kind of promotion is that it gives newbies a notion that a bitcoin copy cat is a worthy investment. And that as long as there is a "bitcoin" in its name, the asset is equally comparable to the original bitcoin which in the long run is a bad idea especially when they start investing their money.
892  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When they does push the button of Bullrun? on: February 01, 2023, 07:13:34 AM
Well, it could be a lot of reasons! Perhaps they withdraw their large stash due to..

- Security reasons. Regardless how mainstream the exchange is, they are not exempted to hacking and maybe they came to realized that anytime they could loss their money.
- Change of exchange.
- That's their crypto and they can do whatever they want.

At the end of the day, their reason varies depending on their circumstances.
893  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This is a gathering of many hopeful people. on: February 01, 2023, 06:09:33 AM
How come people on this forum are still encouraged to buy when things do not even look good. I am happy to be in this forum, in the midst of many people who remain so positive about bitcoins.
As Andreas Antonopolous have said, "Bitcoin is a multifaceted revolution" which means that people not only sees bitcoin as a financial tool to grow their wealth but it also contributes a fair share of knowledge when it comes to technological discoveries/advancements.

Plus, holding bitcoin makes you a lot cooler than anyone else in your age whether they are classmates, coworkers, or acquaintances. Bitcoin undoubtedly gives you a sense of pride.
894  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Warning! Error encountered during contract execution [execution reverted] on: February 01, 2023, 05:24:17 AM
There are few posts in reddit that have the same issue as yours.

So generally execution reverted means the transaction was canceled due to slippage. Every transaction has a slippage % and if that % is exceeded the transaction is reverted. Yes you paid the gas fee for it, because the miner did "work" but had to reverse the outcome.

Your gas limit is too low. Retry the transaction with a gas limit of 6 million. The transaction will only use the required gas without consuming it all

In other words, the issue could perhaps be related to gas limit, slippage or simply low gas fees.

how should my funds of this address be recovered???
As far as I know, your gas fees won't be refunded, but the money that was sent unsuccessfully will.
895  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Pilipinas Merit Cafe on: January 31, 2023, 03:37:53 PM
@cydrix. Merited some of your posts.

896  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: am now a bitcoin investor(first purchase) on: January 31, 2023, 03:11:49 PM
If I may suggest, after you have spent about $100 or so on bitcoin, try transferring it to a wallet where you own the private keys, such as Electrum for desktop or laptop computers or Bluewallet for mobile devices.

Unless you are actively trading with it, using an exchange to hold your asset is a terrible idea[1].

897  Other / Meta / Re: I'm not receiving mail notification on: January 30, 2023, 03:13:17 PM
Right.
The forum doesn't send you any notification email for the new topics made on the board you have subscribed to as long as you haven't opened the topic you have already received notification for.
Weird? Every time a new subject on bitcointalk is created, I have K9 Mail set up to receive notifications through email on my Android phone, and it never stops delivering notifications even if I haven't visited the board or opened or reacted to a thread.

Here is the filtered topic posted only in Meta. And I am sure that I open new topics thru email only whenever I visit the forum for the first time in the day.

@Little Mouse, do you use email aliasing services like simplelogin? Sometimes, there occurs bounced emails resulting to undelivered messages.

899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I will invest in bitcoin for my child's cost when they grow up. on: January 30, 2023, 01:46:24 PM
Not pretty sure what your question is so I suggest you read [1] https://cryptosec.info/ given you have decided to invest your money in bitcoin for the long haul. Remember that maintaining your financial security and handling it responsibly should and always be your utmost priority.

I see lots of people who have long term success investing in bitcoin. for example, like people who bought bitcoin in 2009 and sold it in 2021 when the bitcoin price was high.
While I know that these are the common scenarios from before and could perhaps happen in the future, but still, be wary that there is still a chance that bitcoin would not go up in price. I mean we can't certainly know if bitcoin will reach a hundred thousand valuation in the next decade, or in the next 20 years.

I am not saying that it isn't safe but you have other options to diversify your money other than bitcoin. More importantly, invest what you cannot afford to lose.  Smiley
900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wallet on: January 29, 2023, 03:05:32 AM
And that's my whole problem: how would I have held my Bitcoins, without any computer skills, without any desire to sell it, loan it or trade it, ONLY wanted to exchange my fiat in BTC, WITHOUT any third party ?
Other than using bisq or another decentralized bitcoin exchange network, the only other option I can think of is in-person trading, where you meet someone who is willing to exchange their bitcoin for your fiat. However, that is a more conventional approach and can put you at more danger of being physically identified while also increasing the likelihood of a $5 wrench attack during the exchange.

Also, even though putting your BTC inside a centralized exchange (it's a transfer of ownership by providing a signature, not transferring your keys) is kinda foolish, you have to remember that bitcoin is multifaceted. This means that people use bitcoin for a number of reasons, one of which is speculation.
