Network rate is just 496MH/s. I have 60MH/s here. But just found 4 blocks. should be 12% of total.

I'm hoping for a PW protected wallet released about an hour before launch, so we're not all trying to DL at the same time!!

Will the password be posted on the OP?

2.Download, compile and install Logicoin p2pool

Download Logicoin p2pool source : https://bitbucket.org/dstorm/p2pool-lgc/get/6891f0c35a27.zip

Extract dstorm-p2pool-lgc-6891f0c35a27.zip to the folder of your choice. It will put all the files a couple of folders deep.

Make a new folder c:\p2pool and copy everything in the dstorm-p2pool-lgc-6891f0c35a27 folder to c:\p2pool.

All your p2pool files and folders should now be in the root of c:\p2pool.

Open command prompt and go to c:\p2pool

Run the following command setup.py install build --compile=mingw32 install

You will see it finish with the following error.

raise ImportError, "No module named " + qname
 ImportError: No module named ltc_scrypt

That's ok because we're not mining Litecoins. We're mining Logicoins.

If you wish to charge a pool fee, edit c:\p2pool\run_darkpool.sh (you can't use notepad, you'll need something like ultraedit) otherwise, continue to step 3.

It is working perfectly.

When LogiCoin wallet is updated, do we need to compile the P2pool file again?

i thought i had alot of coin with my 16mil PND :__( now i just feel small

That is small amount, but if we can find a use for PND, it could worth a lot.

I mined over a billion coins, but sold most of it. I will still mine and sell until PND is useful.

i dont know, I am messing him I need to know ASAP

Do you still think this is not a scam and there will be a launch of the coin?

As much as it sounds crazy, what we actually need to increase Hiro price is difficulty to go up significantly. Once this takes place, all these morons who mine and sell 50 Hiros per day would move to something else and stop bringing the price down. Look at these sell orders, 50 Hiro, 40 Hiro, this is just mine and sell immediately, no plan, no strategy, no promotional efforts, nothing.

These miners are not morons. They mine and sell to make money. They do not see any future of Hiro as it is a vastly instant mined coin. Higher price would enrich the early miners disproportionally. The new miners have much fewer coins and less intensive to dump than the early instant miners.

I would like to see a coin with little instant mine and fair launch. That would give confidence to the community and more people will join.

Hiro is pre-mined? At what percentage? Wasn't aware of this

I would say no pre-mine, but insta-mined.

That is even less transparent.
948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pandacoin PND thread - Second chapter [Scrypt | KGW | 0% PREMINE | Multipool] on: April 26, 2014, 03:08:22 PM

My mining rig alone doubles my household electricity usage and that's with 2 adults and 2 children. I was considering quitting mining due to the costs vs low BTC price. Before gox shit itself and BTC took a nose dive because of recent chinese propaganda, I was laughing all the way to the bank... I didn't have to worry about how much power I was using. Now I'm making a loss each and every day for the past 3 months and it's really caused me to reconsider my position as a miner. Point is, don't dwell on the past... rather evolve and go with the flow or you'll be left behind.

Just my 2PND worth...

If you are losing money by mining, why not buying coins directly from exchanges? Just to secure the network? There is not much point of securing PND network as the hashing rate is so low. Anybody with 100MH/s can attack it easily.
949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GB Coin: Real Team & Workshops & Financial Goals on: April 26, 2014, 12:42:05 PM

What you said is not suitable for ordinary people to just buy a miner and make money.

Too much skill and lucky is required.

If anyone expects to just buy a miner turn it on and just make money then they are sadly mistaken. I am a ordinary person who was clueless about mining too, but I wasn't lazy and just expecting to turn my rigs on and make instant profit.
The things I have mentioned should be also brought up at these events then rather than just flat out say "Don't bother".  All the organisers would have to do is give a few links out too sites like these and a few exchanges.  And just tell them to do some homework/reading before heading off into the crypto world.

I read and studied the markets before I headed in, that aint luck and skill that's just using your brain and not stupidly walking in blind or being too lazy like 99.9% of the crypto world noobs do.

What's the point of doing events if the organisers just end up saying it is not worth it?  Why bother doing events with that attitude?

I agree with you.

But for British miner at the moment, it is not worth mining as the electricity price is too high. If they believe in crypto currency, they should just buy.
950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LGC] Logicoin | DGW | X11 | No Premine! - Launched! on: April 26, 2014, 11:32:52 AM
Fair distribution is a nice thing but devs must understand that without early supporters no coin can achieve high levels.
That's why such aggressive diff retargets shouldnt be applied right from the start.

If you believe the coin will last thousands of years, then 1 hour or 1 day later in the mining makes no difference. We are all early supporters.

Fair launch/issuance is fundamental to the long term success of the coin. This coin is much better than Darkcoin and Hirocoin in terms of fair launch.

I had a look at the history of this coin, and decided to start mining.
951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][0.8.6] Hirocoin - X11 - NGW - Secured Blockchain - Time Warp Limitation on: April 26, 2014, 11:10:25 AM

No it doesnt take normally 17 days, if you have no idea how a difficuty retarget algorithm works...

Thats how the Litecoin difficulty algorithm works, and basically ALL coins from Litecoin to Bitcoin have been mined faster in the beginning...

That was old days, in 2010 and 2012. Newer coins should have much faster block retarget time or start with higher difficulty, not 0.000x. Vertcoin was launched in January 2014. That is the reason for Vertcoin's depressed price.
953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TWC] TwilightCoin-X11-Fair Mining-Fast block-ASIC-proof-LAUNCHED! on: April 26, 2014, 08:43:48 AM
Guys, look what I found this morning. There were some speculations about Vertcoin's instamine, but the article I found explains perfectly how it was done and how big was the instamine.
I have a link on my other PC, so if anybody's interested I'll find and post it later.
My respects to the author, he/she did amazing job researching this.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dark side of Vertcoin - huge instamine uncovered!

What is Vertcoin?
Vertcoin is a cryptographic currency, similar to Bitcoin and Litecoin, with one major difference.
...

Premine - None
There is no premine except three, normal blocks done to test the network (150 coins). You can use the block explorer below to look them up. Unlike many other coins, no one has received a large amount of free coins to dump on an exchange.

Every day there is a new coin launched and both miners and investors have one mutual concern - whether the coin has any premine or instamine. I guess we all understand why they are so concerned - nobody wants the price to fall down when high volume of premined coins is thrown to exchange markets.

In order to be honest with their communities development teams do public announcements. They claim how big is the premine and how they are going to spend it. This information can be verified if you go through coin's blockchain and track where the coins have settled down. Needless to say, some people try to avoid premined crypto currencies to eliminate risks mentioned above.

On the other hand, can you feel safe if you invest into a currency with no premine or instamine? Well, let's find out by using Vertoin's blockchain as an example.

As our epigraph suggests, "no one has received a large amount of free coins". Take a look at blocks from ~800 to ~4000 and list of the addresses these blocks' rewards finally went to.

Most of them fall into the same pattern:

- 20-25 blocks were mined in the range from 800 to 4000 (but some of them kept on mining significantly longer, till the next day) and went to one of addresses listed below
- mining started at ~09:38 and stopped at ~11:10-11:25 (officially Vertcoin was launched at 09:00) with a second group continuing to mine till the next day.

Some addresses of miners (stopped at ~11:10):

VaALivNWCFSogd2gBqxXhvZotwt7oRaPcx
VsXNarZrg1PSjz7EAQRAoY7aQ7yEDfZoCS

Some addresses of miners (mined longer, but started at the same time):

VuhteNHxA2sdkVVMCEoG1QjzeBe6DWgNQA
Vf5MNH8WzUCG2LnRWASyfxySiBevSeCrHy

That is to say, more than 100 "miners" started at the same time with one group stopped after ~2 hours of mining and the second one mined till the beginning of the next day. Let's take a look where the proceeds from these miners went to. It turned out that all of these blocks had finally consolidated into just 7 addresses (txid, consolidation times, blocks and amounts):

With a total amount of 111,550.81 VTC (these are the proceeds from the miners under our consideration, not counting other sources).

It's obvious that all of these coins were mined by one person or group of persons who know each other. Who was it?

The answer is simple when you figure out how that mining was done. There was a large number of preconfigured miners started at the same time. Most likely some cloud service was involved with huge number of VPS servers started from a template at the same time (please note that Vertcoin was a CPU-only coin at the very beginning). DigitalOcean isn't under consideration for two reasons: each and every VPS should be started manually, and there is a limit of total number of VPSes. Most likely, Amazon AWS EC2 instances have been used (or similar cloud provider). With Amazon AWS EC2 it's possible to start large number of instances from a single template, there are also some limits imposed to the number of instances, but it's possible to raise them in advance by the means of request to the support, and it's also possible to use multiple accounts and launch instances sharing the same template (AMI snapshot) from different accounts. If that's not enough, there are multiple locations available with their own limits. So, one should do the following:

1. Launch an instance.
2. Download sources of Vertcoin and sources of Vertcoin miner (vertcoind can be used for mining as well).
3. Compile vertcoind.
4. Install and preconfigure it.
5. Compile and preconfigure miner.
6. Take an AMI snapshot from this instance.
7. Submit a request to support to raise limits for number of instances. Wait 2-3 days for a reply. If that's not enough, distribute AMI snapshot to different regions, ask friends to create multiple Amazon accounts using their credit cards and give them access to the snapshot. Most likely, some kind of combination of methods had been used, taking into consideration that most of the instances have been started almost at the same time.
8. Launch 100+ instances.
9. Wait for them to load and start mining.

Is it possible to complete all of these steps within 38-40 minutes from a launch? Very unlikely. Conclusion: it was an insider from Vertcoin team who mined at least 111,550 VTC (0.13% of the total volume) shortly after the launch.

Now, when instamine is uncovered, what should we do with this knowledge? We don't know if the owner(s) still have it waiting for a better moment to do a huge sell. Or they already sold it and are not too concerned about VTC's future price.

That is why the only thing we should do is to accept the fact and keep going. Mine, trade and support.

From block 10 to 10000, it took just 17 hours. Normally, it should take 17 days.

That is huge instant mine, 24 times than it should be.

With the impending KnCMiners costing $10,000, Adrian's advice was to hold off and wait. What advice would you give, specifically?

My advice would be too look at forums like these(a few out there)  and keep an eye on new coin releases.  anyone who says GPU's wont make you money at this stage in the game need to only look at black coin and white coin to know this to not be true.
My other advice would be to keep an eye on troll box's too on exchanges and get the general feeling for a coin before heavily investing in it or mining it.  Like i said if you are going to use the standard route of using coinwarz and multipools then yes your going to struggle to make money.
I don't know if you guys go into the trading side of coins too but that is where the real money is once you have mined your coin, for me anyway.

What a lot of people are missing is patience and expect what mining they have done to make them instant profit, wrong, sometimes it can take a few weeks sometimes longer after you have mined to really make decent profit.

What you said is not suitable for ordinary people to just buy a miner and make money.

Too much skill and lucky is required.
955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GB Coin: Real Team & Workshops & Financial Goals on: April 25, 2014, 06:26:03 PM
For the time being, there are not enough nscrypt and x11 coins to absorb the GPU migrating from scrypt. The difficulty of those coins are relatively high and the values of those coins are still very low. I only mine non scrypt coins now as my electricity is 24c/kWh. That  just breaks even as I undervolt and underclock aggresively.

So it is better not to invest in GPU or ASCII at present.

My wallet is not in sync

I have created .conf file (Roaming folder) with the following nodes and i also downloaded the latest windows wallet

addnode=54.86.39.92
addnode=54.85.54.67
addnode=54.86.58.113
addnode=54.86.60.197
addnode=54.86.60.189
addnode=54.84.203.45

Everyone

You can download a new windows wallet from here and it will fix your .conf file problems. The "é" character was causing some trouble with the path.

Don't forget to download the new wallet if you've been having problems with your .conf file.

You need to download the file in the quote, not the one on their website.

wallet works fine , mining is fine too , great work dev , compliments

Thank you, it's great to hear it. The anger runs easily on bitcointalk.

Quite impressed by how stable all of this is going to be honest, you have a crazy amount of hashpower! Took me a while to find an available X11 rig to rent lol.

The coin itself is amazingly stable and responsive, very happy about it, especially with other coins have 2 or 3 failed launches. I think the quality of the product shows itself. Plus the QT client buttons are nice and blue!

It feels alive now, I'm really glad the mining launch started. I have no idea where all that power is coming from though to be honest, maybe people realised this could be huge when they saw mentions on TV and in the papers popping up.

I'm adding a 100 QBC bounty for compiling the Québecoin-QT client for Mac. I had to give back the machine before compiling unfortunately and it was an old macbook pro which wouldn't do anything I told it to.

Next wallet update will need a fix for the .conf/-server option and if possible add a cool background to the wallet Smiley

Workaround to wallet .conf issue:

start it from a .bat file containing something like the following:

start quebecoin-qt.exe -conf=c:\users\your_userid\appdata\roaming\quebecoin\quebecoin.conf

Should fix the -server issue.  I'm solo mining to test it now but won't keep doing it with this diff level.

Worked for me for solo mining
