941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FlavorCoin Radio (2FLAV New Ticker FLVR) PoW/PoS sha256 on: April 15, 2017, 09:19:59 AM
Does this updated version of the wallet have the ticker updated too?

Yes, the ticker change has been included by CryptoCoderz and pulled from upstream into my fork that has the integrated player: https://github.com/bitcoinx2/FlavorCoin-V2 If you are using Linux, you can just pull from my repository and it should work; if you are using Windows please try to compile it for Windows and submit your fixes to me. Also I think I didn't update the package dependency list, it's still on the TODO list so if anyone would like to add some missing dependencies just PM me or make a merge request.

Also @church, I noticed there are still some references to the 2FLAV ticker in the OP, you might want to fix that. Also, the specs use the "FLAV" ticker which is meant to be FLVR if I'm not mistaken.  Wink

So just for everyone's notice, I'm not visiting Slack anymore, because not much is going on there and church doesn't want to invite any new people, because he said he is "embarrassed" by the past discussions with me and alyssapink ... we tried to push him to make more use of the coin (FLVR) back then, along with other suggestions like acting more active and professional on this forum, which he didn't actually want... so at this point, as far as I have understood, FlavorCoin is essentially a radio station, and will continue to be worked on by Church even if the price of the coin goes down!

Still there is work being done, Mr. Church just doesn't like to write but rather talk, he's the radio master of FlavorCoin Radio, so if you want to get more news I suggest it's just best to listen to the radio at around 0:00-4:00 AM UTC. There are also interviews with other prominent coin developers and project leaders from time to time.

Click here to listen ---> http://www.flavorcoinradio.com

For the use case of this coin, keep in mind: IF, at some point, the radio will be more popular and Church decides to start making use of it for payment-related things, for example for paying for advertisements on the radio, that would be a quite solid use case. It is possible to purchase advertisement space on the radio stream using FLVR.

We now have a static Windows wallet.

Woow wooot!  Shocked  Grin 1M market cap, we're coming!  Cheesy
943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XSPEC] Spectrecoin | Untraceable Tx | Ring Signatures | Tor Integration on: April 13, 2017, 10:38:20 AM
We have figured out the peer issue and made an update so wallets should get more connections and there will be a new Win and Mac shortly. If you compile yourself you can compile now from https://github.com/spectrecoin/spectre - new version is 1.2

Wow! Having 14 connections now, really nice! Cool

And yet i am right. Litecoin market was the worst thing that could happen to ESP. Coins wich offer nothing but a frozen blockchain is sold for 20.000 to 30.000 times more. The only thing it has in advantage? NO ltc market. Close all markets but BTC and it will grow.

Dude. It's about the coin supply. I've explained this to you before like 2 or 3 times. Price = Market Cap / Coin Supply. You have to compare market caps to have any meaningful comparison. And it doesn't help to have a 1 sat market but with no volume. So the actual value is some function of the market cap and the trading volume.

For starters, I am not angry. I understand the risks. I would think most of your participants have mined, purchased or maybe even contributed to the development of numerous new coins and have had a loss before.

I jumped onto ESP day 1 of the bitcointalk ANN. I am sorry that your first reaction is to think I am "claiming" whatever while suggesting I have negative motives. I guess that's what I get for holding a million of your coins in high hopes. We can math it up if you like, what exactly is 1 million ESP or ESP2 worth? LMAO, right? Big money scheme I've got going here.

For someone that had high hopes for your project and refused to dump on the first day of sale that comment is a bit of a kick in the gut.

Honestly after the ESP value was less than 1 satoshi for over a month I just left the wallet on my server and walked away from it hoping that it would one day increase its value. After all, the main thing being stated by all holders of this coin is that it was a long term investment and to just hold the coins. So that is what I did. After loosing over a grand on the ETC opening I stepped away from all coins for a while. So I just happened to fire up some old wallets off the server and check things out and that is when I realized that things had changed with this coin.  You apparently still have the old coin and from a previous comment you are holding it for future promotions (I would expect these would be a ESP2 promotion that has been converted from ESP). It is whatever, penny coin anyways and with a coin that is supposed to be a long term investment to completely change its stripes mid stroke it is best to stay away from such a model.

Good luck everyone, I will no longer participate but I would hope that eventually ESP does get off the ground. And no, I am not bitter or angry over this but I am a bit shocked that you left no way for long term investors of your coin to come back to you and still be a part of your project. I've bought into many coins and ALL of the others are still there with an update to the wallet and a dat restore I still have their coins. Not everyone is sitting at their rigs monitoring every minute of every coin that is out there. If you claim its a long term investment don't get mad when people come back in a yr wanting to know what happened.

Sorry to see you go bud. I see your point but apparently no other of the coins that you hold had a swap, because swaps always end because otherwise people could mine the old coin at much lower difficulty and swap it to the high-value new coin, so that is not a possibility.

That is not 100% accurate; The promotions will be done in ESP 2.0. What devs are holding are the pre-mined coins on the new chain that were NOT swapped for old ESP.

I remember when this coin was 3-4 satoshi, then there was heaps of volume in LTC

Soon this will not only be a memory but reality

Want to get in satoshi leage? Close LTC market. Simple as that. Look at all those other coins. Come on, even topaz is what? 2000 satoshi?

Do ICO investors get more news?

Unfortunately not.

Windows wallet version does not sync. Has NOT been syncing since Mid March. Somebody tell Me when an update is due out OR what addnodes I can use. I am an ICO buyer. I've been with this project since last year. I need help on this issue.

Check into the #support channel on Slack. If you are an ICO buyer, you will also be able to get invited into the channel for ICO investors.

So at the current price, 1 Million Espers is ... *gets calculator out* ... $4.42. How generous!  Grin

Anyway, celebrating the Espers anniversary is a great idea.  Smiley

Im excited about this coin. Hopefully devs can make they're promises true. Im accumulating this coin. This coin has a great Future maybe. 27,5k pieces now, way above ico price i bought, but it Will go up even further.

having issues downloading the wallet on a windows, is there a guide?

The Windows wallet is linked in the first post if I'm not mistaken. Here is the guide: 1. Click on the link. 2. Wait for the download to finish. 3. Done.
952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XSPEC] Spectrecoin | Untraceable Tx | Ring Signatures | Tor Integration on: April 06, 2017, 06:28:57 AM
The top 10 wallets own nearly 50% of coins http://prntscr.com/erbqv0

Was this premined?

If not, can someone point me in the direction of other distribution info?

There was an ICO and not so much interest but we had little choice given the circumstances but to distribute to the investors as opposed to 're-start' the whole process. The wider distribution will come with time so this may be a slow burner but there is enough on offer for it to spread.
Curious. What was the ICO price?

ICO price was about 83 sat. Can we finally put this in the OP please?

Update

Providing a static / standalone spectrecoin.exe for Windows has proved quite difficult, but I am happy to say that we are very close to a solution. There has been a lot of work on this aspect of the project recently so that we can easily build future Windows versions. We have now managed to do a static build of Qt so we are working on the rest of the dependencies so hopefully we should have a new version in 2-3 days. Sorry about the delay...

Progress overview:
1. [done] Configure Windows environments
2. [done] Compile Qt 5.8 statically (x32/x64)
3. [done] Compile ICU statically (x32/x64)
4. [done] Compile OpenSSL (x32/x64)
5. [to-do] Build all the other dependencies from project sources (boost, libevent, etc.).
6. [to-do] Compile the spectrecoin.exe (x32/x64)

So, as you can tell, we will deliver x32 and x64 versions of spectrecoin.exe so that we cater for all Windows users.

Parallel to this we have identified a range of updates we need to do in the code re. the Tor integration. Once that has been done we can focus on getting the first version of XSPEC Android out. After some discussion it was decided to wait for a code update and Windows build before releasing the first Android app.

We are also planning a PR push in the wake of the new versions once they are out.

Amazing! At everyone, note that static builds of big programs can be pretty difficult, so great respect to the devs for managing to make a static build of Qt, and good luck for the rest (boost, libev ... I'm happy that I am not the one who has to do that stuff! Shocked)
954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XSPEC] Spectrecoin | Untraceable Tx | Ring Signatures | Tor Integration on: April 05, 2017, 12:03:02 PM
As right now Xspec is so cheap and marketcap is so low, so there are huge room to grow

Yep. Cool A market cap of 20M would not be too much for a project like this, and that's 40 times the current price ... Cheesy  So BUY NOW as long as you can, lol.

Regarding the unswapped coins, yes they decided to keep it instead of burning, which is a questionable decision in fact, from a political point of view. But as I noted before, this project is not about politics, it's about technology. The unswapped funds are reserved for future promotions, not to be expended by devs themselves.
btw how can anyone check info about those reserved coins, are they still on wallet or they already dumping esp2 market Smiley sharing wallet used as storage will be enough Smiley

Just talked with CC about it, it has been posted once on this thread, but he'll make a new post and put the addresses into the OP.

So.... I apparently missed the boat. How can I convert 17million ESP coins to ESP2? Left the wallet on a server that I literally haven't checked in a year. Did I miss out? Advice anyone?

Sorry you are wayyy too late. The swap is over, your old ESP balances are not valid any more. Sorry bud!  Undecided

Well that's lame. I guess the definition of "investment" isn't the same for me as it is for others. Last time I'll help these developers by jumping on their coin. If I had mined gold and the standard changed to platinum I'd still be able to convert it to something worthwhile. That's the whole point of investing into something. So basically I'd assume the devs just kept the milliions of ESP2 that didnt get converted? Great job guys.

I understand that you're angry, but think of this rather as "participation" than an investment. Espers is an experimental blockchain project, and as such, is not the ideal investment property unless you are keeping yourself up2date.

I would limit one staking account to one IP address

Remember, no IP addresses in Spectre! See the problem here?  Wink Similar to ZCash where you cannot control the distribution of funds, in Spectre, it is very hard to analyze the structure of the network.  I'm not sure if this "remote staking" is a good idea, or even doable, but definitely worth discussing at some point.

Could someone explain to noobish me what remote staking means or how it works?  Huh Somehow the entity who has access to the private key needs to be connected to the internet, right? So what is the alternative to keeping the wallet open?

It's explained in the NEM FAQ https://www.nem.io/faq.html#howDelegateHarvest

Basically you are lending your staking power to another account, preferably with an empty wallet.
First you generate a key with your original wallet, which is only used for staking and activate remote staking. (This key has nothing to do with with your funds and private key.)
Then you can close your original wallet and put this key in the config of another wallet, which is and stays empty.
The empty wallet stays open for staking and all rewards are going to the original wallet.

The benefit of this setup is, that the wallet with your funds is only needed when starting remote staking and afterwards it can stay offline.
If the server with your staking wallet gets compromised, in the worst case, the staking key gets stolen and then the attacker can stake for your wallet  Grin
This architecture in connection with trezor would be a very secure setup.

Ok I see. This would also solve the problem for people using the mobile wallet, which is not going to stake coins to not surge the battery! I'm sure you are welcome to come to Slack and discuss this with devs. Check out #ideas_features over there, or go to Github and file a feature request.

On the downside, it could result in many people staking on just a few big servers, and only those servers running the actual network, which is not generally desirable because it makes the network less robust...
960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XSPEC] Spectrecoin | Untraceable Tx | Ring Signatures | Tor Integration on: April 04, 2017, 09:27:55 AM
It would be nice if we can get remote staking (hot-/cold-wallet setup) for spectrecoin, like NEM's remote harvesting or remote masternodes with DASH.
I don't feel comfortable with leaving a hot-wallet open 24/7.

The spectrecoin wallet when stacking is open only for stacking.
In stacking, it is closed to send, ask for the password again before.
Spectrecoin is safe as much as your password. So is Bitcoin.
If you can not use a good password, I think you should not use crypto-currencies.
To compare, this image is very good:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1762568.msg17630837#msg17630837

If you do not care about privacy, it's okay to use Dash or Bitcoin.  Cool

Well I do care about privacy, that's why I'm interested in this coin and hope the devs will deliver.
However, I think a privacy centered coin should also offer a safe way to stake and with the same wallet which holds your coins, that's not the case.

Imho the best way to stake would be to have the wallet open on a cheap VPS.
Trusting a 3rd party (VPS provider) with your private key is a no-go, even if it's secured with a strong passphrase.

Therefore the option of remote staking would be a great security enhancement for this coin and I hope the devs will consider that for future releases.

Could someone explain to noobish me what remote staking means or how it works?  Huh Somehow the entity who has access to the private key needs to be connected to the internet, right? So what is the alternative to keeping the wallet open?
