The scamcoin craze is merely a byproduct of the larger bubble.

Unfortunately you have a good point.

If only there were ways to short sell anything besides LTC.
I would be all over it...
Please somebody, introduce shorting for these coins... pretty please? Cry  (and preferably in put options form, normals shorts with this volatility is likely suicide)
962  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 13, 2013, 03:25:06 AM
Why not Dogecoins?
Oh, I was assuming DGC were Dogecoins.
963  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 13, 2013, 03:03:57 AM
The only good thing right now is that DGC is rallying..

Ew.

200k+ in my wallet and it's 10 folds where I bought it  Kiss

Probably time to get rid of those.

Although I have no idea how, since 200k is more than the daily volume.

Nope, I might get rid 16k over 200k I have if BTC continues to go against my position today, the rest is for long term.

what makes you think this coin has a future?
Entertainment value
964  Economy / Economics / Re: Can you guess what this bubble is from and why they have it.. on: December 13, 2013, 02:57:54 AM
If all of this is only because the dollar was depreciating, then everything else (food, gazoline, news paper) would be rising as fast in price as bitcoin, so no.
However, you are right that monetary inflation is a large incentive to get into bitcoin.
965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin should not be seen as a currency, warns Ernst & Young on: December 13, 2013, 02:23:48 AM
I have read lotsa articles on BTC lately. I have noticed most of them are overlooking one important fact about BTC when considering to name it a currency and see its real possibilities. The fact it can be divided - 0.001, 0.000001, 0.00000000000001 or whatever. There is practically no limitation.

I think this is essential for wider acceptance too. People are used to think in scales of 1$, 1EUR,...when it comes to currency and now 1 BTC. But this is wrong. There will be only 21mil of BTCs (actually less as some coins will be lost forever), but number of BTC users will be probably in hundreds of millions. There will be definitelly need to find apropriate name for smaller BTC unit for masses to use - something pretty catchy  Smiley

The limit is actually 8 decimal places, but I get your point  Smiley
Easy to change that if need be.

One big move on China now and it goes kerblamo.

Like this:?
"Woman: "Uhhh (moaning), I'm cumming...."
Man: "Kerblamo!!!""
Lol, that was the bit at the start but I think most of it went down her leg Smiley
Dudes, keep it civilized please.
967  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2013, 11:32:21 PM

969  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Edison's Revenge on the Dollar (?) - WHAAAAT???? on: December 12, 2013, 08:09:23 PM
Thomas Edison's Renegade Currency = BITCOIN!  (?)

Please let me know what the heck this is all about?!?!?
It's an absolutely disgraceful and sickening pump video with some weird reference to Edison.

Hey Bitfinex,

What percentage of the fiat funds are currently held at Bitstamp?

Thanks

I don't think he was that negative in the beginning, but you can see that he is really getting into it now.
That's what bitcoin does, the blob of bewonderment assimilates you  Grin .
972  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-09] Bloomberg - Twelve Days of Bitcoin: All videos on: December 11, 2013, 10:28:57 PM
I generally enjoy these videos, but trying to explain the technicals of transactions and mining when you yourself only understand it partially is a really bad idea.  Only leads to more confusion.

Still, very enjoyable tv overall, and a positive attitude, keep it up Matt !
973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Max Keiser Piss Anyone Else Off? on: December 11, 2013, 02:50:14 PM
He is a pumper, nuff said.
Definitely not a man you want representing the potential currency/store of value of the future.

When will Bitfinex add DOGE? DOGE would make a GREAT addition to BTC and LTC at BFX!

It's very script, has many coin, very riches for all.

I've ordered a dual-core DOGE miner yesterday, you can see a picture of it here: https://i.imgur.com/qZU4U7M.gif

So.. so very coin!

Ente
Yes, DOGE is so many wow !  Much scrypt for profit, quicky transactions so very choo choo.
975  Economy / Speculation / Re: Okay, this has to be the top of the bounce. on: December 11, 2013, 04:57:39 AM
see you at $4,000
Didn't "someone" just buy a Lambo with BTC.  That "someone" must not think we'll see $4000 that soon.   Wink

Sometimes you just have to rebalance your portfolio.

i needed to adjust that before the end of the tax year. im still long crypto, that lambo was not even a dent in my stack.

I suspect there will be a lot of adjusting before the end of the tax year. I think this will keep things in check until then. After that, well...
What kind of adjusting would this entail? I am somewhat unfamiliar with tax laws.

Can anyone summarize the last 30 pages or so of this thread?

Rally back on versus dead cat bounce. Bits for tits.

Am I missing anything important here?
You got it.
977  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 11, 2013, 04:51:54 AM
I haven't been able to check the forum the last couple days because of this conference in Las Vegas.

Can anyone summarize the last 30 pages or so of this thread?
"Haha, stupid bears"

I wish bitcoin exchanges would not be open 24/7.

If one (or all) decides to use "banker's hours" there will just be a new exchange to fill that gap and the "banker's hours" exchanges will get left behind.

The Bitcoin protocol is 24/7 and nothing is going to stop that. Trading will occur regardless.
Plus, not having 24/7 exchanges would be a major risk for payment processors such as bitpay.
979  Economy / Speculation / Re: how much of your life savings is invested in BTC? on: December 10, 2013, 10:13:25 PM

980  Economy / Speculation / Re: how much of your life savings is invested in BTC? on: December 10, 2013, 08:00:45 PM
approx 50% invested more than 50% of their savings, very interesting.

"How much ... is invested ... ?"  !=  "How much ... did you invest ... ?"
very important distinction
