981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Day trade bitcoins on: November 10, 2017, 03:56:44 AM
No day trader who does it for a living is going to share his hard earned knowledge for free. 95% of beginners who try to trade lose their shirts and quit. Psychology is just as important as technical knowledge; there are psychologists who specialize in helping successful traders overcome their emotions and become better traders. If you think you have what it takes prove it to yourself by trading on paper for three months before risking your fiat.

keeping up with the garzicks

That is remarkable for a wallet. Have to take a look at Samourai.

Here is the message quoted from the bitcoin-segwit2x mailing list confirming that the hard fork is suspended:

Quote
The Segwit2x effort began in May with a simple purpose:  to increase the blocksize and improve Bitcoin scalability. At the time, the Bitcoin community was in crisis after nearly 3 years of heavy debate, and consensus for Segwit seemed like a distant mirage with only 30% support among miners. Segwit2x found its first success in August, as it broke the deadlock and quickly led to Segwit’s successful activation. Since that time, the team shifted its efforts to phase two of the project - a 2MB blocksize increase.

Our goal has always been a smooth upgrade for Bitcoin.  Although we strongly believe in the need for a larger blocksize, there is something we believe is even more important: keeping the community together. Unfortunately, it is clear that we have not built sufficient consensus for a clean blocksize upgrade at this time. Continuing on the current path could divide the community and be a setback to Bitcoin’s growth. This was never the goal of Segwit2x.

As fees rise on the blockchain, we believe it will eventually become obvious that on-chain capacity increases are necessary. When that happens, we hope the community will come together and find a solution, possibly with a blocksize increase. Until then, we are suspending our plans for the upcoming 2MB upgrade.

We want to thank everyone that contributed constructively to Segwit2x, whether you were in favor or against. Your efforts are what makes Bitcoin great. Bitcoin remains the greatest form of money mankind has ever seen, and we remain dedicated to protecting and fostering its growth worldwide.

984  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor/ Ledger Nano s/ keepkey? Which HW to pick? on: November 03, 2017, 09:14:46 PM
And is twice the price Tongue

To be honest, the "added shiny" isn't really enough to tempt me to get the Trezor T. I'm a big fan of the K.I.S.S. principal... But good on Trezor, I'm sure it'll appeal to the "ZOMG colour touchscreen!!?!" crowd Roll Eyes Tongue

What does concern me... will Trezor run the "only add new coin support to the new device" play? ie. Stop development on the older device? Huh

The Trezor T has an advantage over original Trezor due to the new platform which is supposed to make it easier to integrate new coins. While your current Trezor will still work fine you are right, there may be coins that are only supported on the new Trezor T. It has a faster processor and new firmware. I already ordered mine. Consider Ledger no longer supports the Unplugged or original Nano. I find it remarkable that my Trezor from 2014 still works fine. You can't stop progress.
985  Economy / Speculation / Re: Peak and correction coming on: November 03, 2017, 07:46:27 PM
No one has a crystal ball. Speculators may push bitcoin price up until just before the fork. Everyone believes there will be a sharp correction so it may be a self fulfilling prophecy. Price has corrected to the weekly 20 MA and recovered and may well repeat. Right now the 20 MA is at just under $4100. Because there is a significant chance we could see sub $5000 this month many are selling now to raise cash and placing bids under $5000.

987  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis on: November 03, 2017, 05:25:15 PM
Using log scale daily Bitstamp chart here is price action this year with a good fitting Andrews' Pitchfork drawn:

At some point, maybe coinciding with the fork drama later this month we could have a deep correction from the top channel of the pitchfork to bottom channel, e.g. from about $8,500 to sub $5000. Recovery could be fast with new highs greater than $10,000 by year end.

As long as the bull market remains intact we can project the pitchfork out into next year:

A lot can happen in half a year but if the trend stays in force we could see $32,000 give or take by August. Breaking the bottom channel lowest trendline is significant and could signal a change in trend.
988  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor/ Ledger Nano s/ keepkey? Which HW to pick? on: November 03, 2017, 03:29:19 PM
I was tempted to get a Digital BitBox... But as mentioned, not much in the way of altcoin support and I had some non trivial altcoin holdings when I was shopping for a hardware wallet.

Might still get one just to try it out... I like the idea of being able to backup to microSD cards Wink

The new Trezor T just put on sale for delivery in Jan 2018 has a microSD slot for data encryption.

Sometimes it helps to look at a log scale chart. Here is Bitstamp daily bitcoin log scale with a reasonable pitchfork drawn:

The pitchfork suggests we may reach roughly $8000 before a sharp correction down to about $5000 before new all time highs greater than $10,000 by year end. The sell off might occur during the fork drama and rather than the end of the world present just another buying opportunity.

Any chance we can see that chart extended to 2018?

No problem here you go:

Anybody know if bitstamp will distribute Segwit2x coins like they eventually did with Bitcoin Cash?

You really think both chains will survive?

I think $8K to $10K by end of this November followed by a sharp correction of $3K to $4K then above $10K by end of this year. Many holders will sell on the correction and miss out on bitcoin greater than $10K. Will be a wild ride but those that hang on will be rewarded.
993  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor/ Ledger Nano s/ keepkey? Which HW to pick? on: November 02, 2017, 09:43:36 PM
I ordered digital bitbox, they are as good as the competition, i didnt tested myself but seems more secure.

Digital Bitbox is very good but they don't support the altcoins like Trezor and Ledger Nano S. Claiming your Bitcoin Cash was more complicated with the Bitbox than with Trezor e.g.
994  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 02, 2017, 09:38:59 PM
but...can it really go parabolic-er?

Sure when you see $1000 move in one day. That is not sustainable so would be healthier for the rise to be slower but you deal with the reality.
995  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor/ Ledger Nano s/ keepkey? Which HW to pick? on: November 02, 2017, 03:04:38 PM
@HCP I own all the hardware wallets I seem to collect them:) The user experience is best for me with Trezor YMMV. I was always leery of KeepKey because they were just a fork of Trezor kind of sleezy making a business off Trezor's work you know? Remember Case hardware wallet that stopped working after a year? Trezor and Ledger are in business for the long haul. I bought one of the original Trezors back in 2014 still works fine.
996  Economy / Speculation / Re: BETI: Bitcoin Exponential Trend Index and technical analysis on: November 02, 2017, 02:03:11 AM
Thanks for this quite impressive. I have been expecting the top to occur when 3 day RSI reaches 90; BETI over 1.0 close to 1.5 may be more accurate.
997  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 02, 2017, 01:08:25 AM
You are not going to be able to call the top if we go parabolic but I guarantee you that you want to be in cash before the crash comes.
998  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor/ Ledger Nano s/ keepkey? Which HW to pick? on: November 02, 2017, 01:00:30 AM
No reason not to own both a Trezor and Nano S. Trezor has the better UI experience while Nano S covers a few more altcoins. You can use a Trezor with one hand using two to press the buttons on a Nano S gets old. KeepKey started as a Trezor fork and never caught on like the other two.
999  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Any Other Taint Analysis Tools (other than blockchain.info's)? on: November 01, 2017, 06:04:56 PM
I would like to make some chain analysis tools available for free online in the coming months. In my opinion people should have the right to access these tools without either the technical know-how or a bill to some firm.

You should have no lack of beta testers good luck with the project.

There is no doubt this is a very collectible, very desirable piece. I would bid if there was no reserve, and bitcoin price was not going up so fast; as I don't want to wind up spending more in dollars than I feel comfortable with. Good luck with the auction!
