9901  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are people over-reacting on MNW's bet? on: September 10, 2012, 06:30:47 PM
Making an agreement for a wager and backing out isn't a stunt.  If you think so trying doing that in a casino.  Try losing a bet and just grabbing your chips and leaving.  Better yet try doing it in some underground poker game.

Your point is self-refuting.  This anonymous online BBS is *not* "a casino."  This anonymous online BBS is *not* "some underground poker game."

All you humorless haters aren't going to do anything except whine; you're certainly not any kind of virtual casino security bouncer thug or mob enforcer.   Roll Eyes

So take your threatening internet tough guy BS and stuff it, cupcake.  Wink
9902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Response on: September 10, 2012, 06:18:48 PM
He was seeking easy money, not to improve society. Nor was he joking. Didn't look like a joke, didn't sound like a joke. Looks like a scam, was a scam. Not a joke.

Matt's "bet" was obviously a 100% trollish prank.  Only those with a compulsive gambling problem would want to believe it was somehow (herr durp, maybe pirate is seekretly backing him???!!!1?) legitimate.

Just as with pirate, people were warned, repeatedly and loudly, not to take him seriously.  But they didn't listen.
9903  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Matthew Neal Wright: You have been reported to the SEC and Korean authorities. on: September 10, 2012, 06:10:53 PM
Sure you did tough guy. Did you sign your complaint "Pimp" too? I'm sure that will impress the piss out of the SEC when considering your issue with a pretend bet with a pretend currency with a pretend identity on the internet for an anonymous event that happened exactly as it was described by someone who is probably in Korea.

They are probably scrambling the SEC/Interwebz Anti-Fraud Squad Black Helicopter Fleet right now to go and catch this evil genius, and have him brought before the International Court of Interwebz Justice in Den Hauge.

Does you mom know you are fucking around with her computer?

That's hilarious, but you forgot to mention that the relevant pretend currency is still in the 'unstable and highly experimental beta-testing' stage.

Don't mess with the Bitcoin Police's Korean Division!

"I was pranked by Matthew N. Wright, due to my compulsive gambling problem"

*ignored*

Twat's that you say?  I cunt hear you.
9905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Response on: September 10, 2012, 05:09:21 PM
A corrupt society always punishes those that seek to improve it.

That's true, hence the corollary:

I for one was shocked to find a known internet troll chose not to pay nearly $1m in bets to strangers on the internet. There were no early warning signs you could have picked up on to make a risk assessment of the situation.

Real people have lost money on this because after originally losing money on a ponzi scheme they hedged against it by betting with a known troll stranger on the internet. These people are not immature like Matthew, they just know a good deal when they see one!

9906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google trends skyrocketing! Could MNW's heinous crimes be bluish for Bitcoin? on: September 10, 2012, 04:52:13 PM
it's getting embarrassing to read so many sob stories about people who got "scammed" by MNW. I can only hope that these people will eventually learn their lesson, go to Gambler's Anonymous, or do whatever it takes to wean themselves off that urge to make retarded bets.

Matthew N. Wright puts on a big show. Goddam... he even timed it for Sunday/Monday, clever prick... and maybe, just maybe people start being a bit more careful round here? For once, a scam is associated with a reasonably well-known on-line personality, so it's less likely to be passed off as a Bitcoin problem.

I bet 9 Zillion Bitcoins that nobody will learn a damn thing from being the butt of Matt's successful epic trolling.

Especially when their refusal to take personal responsibility is endorsed by Management.

"There, there poor gullible dears.  We'll give the Bad Troll Man a mean tag so your hurt wittle fweelings will be soothed.  *applies baby powder to diaper rash*"
9907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Letter to Matthew on: September 10, 2012, 04:45:02 PM
C'mon, folks, this is really pathetic.  Just look at all the MNW videos, interviews, and posts. You did look at these before deciding to do business or anything else with him, right?  What were you expecting?  I find it preposterous that any one of you here would claim how you trusted him and supported him, but now he really let you down so you are scolding him.

Why should we have to perform our own due diligence?!?!  I demand to be coddled and protected from my own credulity by the Proper Authorities.   Angry

Why should we have to be responsible for being trolled?!?!  I demand anyone who trolls me be labeled a scammer, regardless of whether any money changed hands in an actual scam.   Cry

Damn those obvious troll scams!  They made me appear foolish, which cannot possibly be my own fault.   Angry

Something must be done so it will never happen again.   Cry

I'm just going to plug this here

MATTHEW N. WRIGHT - The Best Bitcoin Troll Ever!

 Cheesy

yes, exactly.   Grin

no reasonable person would have any rational belief or expectation that his farcical bet was real.

hooray for our new, greatly expanded definition of scammer, which has been diluted sufficiently to include obvious trolls (especially  in cases of wildly successful trolling)!

now we are all safer from the dangers of obvious troll bets, thanks to words meaning whatever we want them to.

I guess all trolling is a kind of scam now, because it involves kidding, which is dishonest.   Roll Eyes

I would imagine it will be difficult to prosecute as BTC is a virtual item, which is not recognised as currency in most juristictions.

Couple that with the fact the fact that Pirate is probably not his real name etc etc and proving that he is the one who people sent all their coins to will be difficult.  Added to which, most of the investment was done via pass throughts or secondary agents etc.

You can see that it is not simple to investigate or prove and thats if any law enforcement is actually interested.

Oh, so theft is only theft if it's a currency? That's good to know, can I have your address real quick? I'm sure you have lots of non currency items in your house.

Tangibility and legal tender status aren't the issue.

BTC are not only virtual items, they are virtual items produced solely by voluntary, willful participation in an ongoing experiment requiring the affirmative consent of us test subjects.

Think of them as 'almost' a real thing that may be stolen.  Beta-testing stage proto-property, if you will.

You can "steal" bitcoins exactly as much as you can "steal" monopoly money from other players during the game.  IE, not at all (except in the metaphorical sense).

Doing so is against the rules of the game, and may cause people to no longer wish to play with you again, but never becomes a real-world legal issue.

WTH Stephen, you just totally blowing off my PMs completely?  At least respond and tell me you're not interested.

Yes, Steve has been a bit pouty and moody lately, ever since being wrong about the outcome of Bitfloor's situation.  I think it hurt his ego.   Cheesy

Maybe he had more Bitcoins there than he could afford to lose?  Don't worry about it, he's not worth it.

What about DDoS (Denial of Service) to sites that don't accept bitcoin?

What is it about freedom that scares you?

But he's just trying to spread freedom, by force if necessary! Seems legit. Cheesy

damn straight bro.  Freedom isn't free, it has a cost.  Priced in bitcoins.  Plus transaction fees.

What should be done about people with no sense of humor?

Aren't they the real problem?   Grin
9920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about DDoS (Denial of Service) to sites that don't accept bitcoin? on: September 08, 2012, 12:19:50 AM
DDoS is a good first step in the right direction.

But the real solution is to hack into unbitcoined sites and modify the code, so that they start accepting BTC whether they want to or not.

Make the transition transparent, brainless, and involuntary.    Cool

Maybe even remove other forms of payment (looking at you, PayPal and Visa/MC) so their customers have no choice either.   Tongue
