1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: Today at 01:30:26 AM
Last night the champion of the West was determined. Dallas beat Minnesota and went to the NBA Finals.

We watched a great game last night. Doncic and Kyrie played really well and won the game.
Both players scored 36 points.

Boston Celtics vs Dallas Mavericks will play in the finals, my prediction is Dallas Mavericks will win the cup because Dallas is better. Smiley

Honestly, before the Western Conference Finals series started, I expected the Wolves to beat the Mavs easily. But as you can see, I underestimated them, and it looks like the Wolves players also underestimated them. As for the final series, it's not easy to make any predictions yet, although the Celtics look like favorites, especially if we consider the results of the games between these two teams during the regular season.
I think we based if on the strength on how the Wolves beat the defending champion in the Nuggets. We thought that the the Nuggets are going to win in that fight, but the Wolves, specially ANT was a different animal in that series, coming back from a 20+ deficit and then winning at the homecourt of the Nuggets? That was a incredible run by the Wolves. But against the Dallas, it was a totally different Wolves, losing 2 game at home was the first sign that the Mavs could pull through this series and they are lucky that they didn't get swept by the Dallas team. But still, learning experience for the Wolves and hopefully they've learned their lessons here and could be back next season proving that it's no longer a fluke.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is going to happen with Bitcoin now? on: May 31, 2024, 11:32:24 AM
I don't see any difference though in the previous bull run. Yeah, maybe we hit a new all time high before the halving, but it doesn't mean that we won't be sitting a massive bull run after it. And if you look at previous bull run, it will take at least months before we can finally see some semblance of a bull run in the market. So I doubt that we will not see a new all time high for this bull cycle. It's just a matter of time, and we are not even a month from the halving itself to say that there will be no rise, it's too early. For others this could still be a period of accumulation and then see the price at the end of the year, we could be very well looking at 6 digit future, I reckon. It's that we really need to have a lot of patience in this market.
I do agree that we are going to do very well, it is not going to be all that complicated, people see that we are going to go up, and this means that we are going to probably see a lot of people thinking that they could make money from crypto if they are careful. This is of course not a simple thing, it will take a while before we could see it change.

This is why I believe that the best thing to do right now would be not caring about the results at all, don't look at it currently because it goes up and down, think about the long term future and you will feel more hopeful about it. A lot of people are considering the situation to be risky because they are not aware of the situation, but if all looked at the long term, they would all buy.
Yes, that's what I'm trying to say, don't make it hard for ourselves, sooner or later, we will have this kind of parabolic rise, meaning there will be months that we will see a big jump in prices and so everyone will be happy and then make a lot of money specially those who have been slowly accumulating overtime. We can look at the price from time to time. But let's practice not to panic every time there is a dip. Just remain relatively calm and then look at the price side. Or at least if the situation calms down and you didn't sell or panic, then that is a first step and then the next, you might not be affected at all and then learn how not to get nervous and just stay focus of your goal, to be a long term holder or at least wait till 2025.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tank Davis Vs Frank Martin WBA Lightweight Title June 22 HoustonTexas on: May 31, 2024, 10:25:55 AM
Not sure if you have seen this interview, Frank Martin was asked if he is pissed off because Ryan Garcia, his stable mate, is picking up Tank Davis to defeat him.

Ryan has only been with Derrick James for 2 fights, and in that period Frank Martin has not been very active. They probably have not had many interactions with each other. It is obvious that Tank is a heavy favorite. Since they have not developed a close friendship, there is no obligation for Ryan to spare Frank’s feelings and say something which he doesn’t believe will happen. The last time Ryan bet on an underdog against Tank, he lost $20k in a bet he made with Errol Spence.
I think they know each other, there are videos of them shadow boxing together,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evyX-2Uz9LI

As both are preparing for their respective fight. So not sure why suddenly Ryan said, if he truly says it, that he is on Davis here vs here stable mate Frank Martin. Of course, maybe Martin knows something like he said, it could be just a ploy in the part of Ryan here.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Summer Olympics 2024 on: May 31, 2024, 09:31:43 AM
Do I get it correct? The number next to sport means number of medal sets to be distributed? I look at swimming, remember Michael Phelps and his 8 gold medals in Beijing. Imho this is unfair towards total standing in table. Some countries get 8 medals in 8 different sports, then one guy came and make 8 medals in swimming only. Either Olympic Games must add new sports, or decrease swimming styles and distances. Freestyle - 6 different distances + team relay. Invest money in one guy, train him and become one of most successful teams in Olympics. Seems unfair.
What do you mean? Yes there are countries that might struggle to win a single medal in an Olympics, but you can't blame it on Michael Phelps. It's that it just shows that there are still disparity even in sports. Top tier countries against those who struggled, but still this is sports and we can't do anything about it as they are considered "fair". They have the facilities and training equipment to be on top of the game, but there are others too who can pull an upsets and there are swimmers who beat Michael Phelps or even the most decorated Olympics medalist.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 31, 2024, 08:52:57 AM
I caught the 2.58x at 30 minutes before the game started.

Nice way to end the series, that's with a big win.
Yes, dominating them in their own homecourt, Luka doesn't want to extend this series anymore and he really do everything, him and Kyrie who took over the game early and you can see how confident they are in the starting gate and take that huge lead and never look back.

Kleber, Powell, Lively, and Gafford... they are a key to dominate the Celtics in the paint this series.
The Mavs have the numbers here, they will only have to content with Porzingis and Horford in the middle. While the young Lively is very athletic and so is Gafford. And Dallas plays this two together and they know how to take advantage of them. Even against the twin towers of the Wolves, Gobert and KAT, they out hustled them.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Also consider your mental State of health while investing for wealths. on: May 30, 2024, 08:09:04 PM
Being mentally healthy overall shouldn't just be a thing that you have to consider when you're investing, make sure that you do it for the benefit of yourself as a person and to the people around you, that's how you should do things when you want to make healthy decisions, consider the general impact of what you're planning to do. After all, a healthy mind would make for the best of decisions. Learn to be disciplined about things too, make sure that you're not getting carried away by your emotions and that you're not being such a bummer when things don't go your way.
When someone wants to make an investment, that person must prepare for their future and that of their family to be even better and when they have made an investment, of course they must have a good plan so that they can make the right decision on the investment they make in order to get results. who are good at the investments they make, when we fail when investing, of course we have to remain calm and have to find out what mistakes we made and correct them so that we don't make the same mistakes again when we invest again.
The first goal on why you make money not just in investing in crypto but other assets as well, specially if you have a family is that you look for long term goal because you want to give your family a good life. But there could be many people here who invested at a young age, and I think that this the good time, start early and grow your money throughout the years. But it has a caveat, which means it's not going to be easy sail in your life as you might be affected mentally if things didn't get your way and we have heard young people losing big money and then taking  their lives. And probably in this case, the OP might be right that we should also take care of our mental health first because it is also one investment that we need to take care of.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder Vs Zhilei Zhang JUNE 1 Heavyweight on: May 30, 2024, 11:17:37 AM

Wilder's career is already done, he is on the retirement age and there's nothing to prove anymore as he was once a champion once but it's not his time now. Just like Fury, he was once undefeated but recently loss in a championship fight, so the title could change hands very fast but on the boxers that losses, it's really Wilder that struggles to come back on the top.
He already had an announcement that this could be his last fight and with only one win in four fights he may be heading for retirement but I know that deep in the heart of Wilder he still wants to continue and recapture his old glory nobody wants to exit with a lot of losses, they always dream of a great fight before they exit because this is what fans most remember I already said that I want him to win this match then go for Joshua even without a title fight it's going to be a very interesting fight.

Quote
It was AJ who first taste a loss but he came back and now has a chance to have a championship fight. But we know he loss to Oleksandr Usyk so most likely we will see the same result and he might just retire in boxing after the fight.
We all thought it was the end of the road for Joshua Joshua did it twice after his losses against Ruiz and Usyk and now he is back on track, I'm sure Joshua is also hoping for Wilder to win so they can deal a fight because it's still a moneymaker, maybe they can do a loser will retire deal kind of a fight, that will be a very interesting fight.
And this is really the end of the road for Wilder if he lose this fight. But we knows, maybe he can pull that trigger? I watch some training videos of him and he looks like he is back mentally for this fight and wanted to get back at his career.

Regarding Joshua, yes, we also thought that he was on the brink of retirement after back to back L from Usyk. But he was able to overcome it and had a big win against Francis Ngannou pushing his career again to a new heights. And hopefully before Wilder thinks of retirement, we might want to see them fight, and I think it still has hype in it specially if it will happen in Saudi Arabia.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Errol Spence vs Sebastian Fundora - Oct on: May 30, 2024, 10:46:44 AM
He needs a tune-up fight before any championship fights because he's still feeling the first loss he had back then, he is not truly ready for it. But despite this, they wanted him to see a return to action against one of the best boxers at the time. most likely when things are not going to be in his way this time and he also loses this fight then the rematch against Crawford will no longer be possible because as we all know Crawford is going up and plans to defeat every opponent in his way which is more likely going to happen than Spence comeback fight against a champion.

I also like to see him getting a tune up fight first, but maybe he doesn't feel like to and even if he has a long long off and could have ring rust, he could just shake it off in the first couple of rounds against Fundora.

He really need to pull the trigger here in this fight and be the one to control the tempo and dictate where the fight should be. This is the strategy that he uses against his toughest opponent except Crawford who really took out his game early and not let him settle and be in control of the fight.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Teofimo Lopez vs Steve Claggett WBO Super Lightweight Title - June 29 on: May 30, 2024, 10:15:31 AM
I keep hearing Claggett's name over the years. He was a hot prospect before but I wonder if he is really a world championship fighter. This is his first title shot and he is fighting the division's lineal champ. Lately, a lot of upsets happened, and Teofimo is inconsistent with his performances so who knows another upset is coming.

Teofimo should be able to score a knockout here. This seems like a showcase fight for Teofimo. I usually root for the underdogs so I am hoping once again  that a new lineal champ will be crowned next month.

It could be but the upset that we have seen lately, it looks like the odds are very close. Nevertheless, I do agree that sometimes Teo's performance is unexpected, he will far bad against a fighter that has no name, but then show us something big that he is a elite fighter by beating big names like Josh Taylor and become the lineal champion.

So let's see what Claggett can offer here, he might give Lopez a good fight in the early rounds. But I don't think that Teo will take him lightly, his belt is on the line here. He doesn't want to lose his belt against a unknown boxer and then chase him for a rematch.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: another ATH , 71k and still climbing. on: May 29, 2024, 12:31:30 PM
We should consider ourselves lucky if we are holding. Remember, there are a lot of people who sold during this in between period because they were scared and feared, there were a lot of people who didn't make it to this part unfortunately, there were people who needed money for something they have to cash out and many other reasons, so if you are still holding then you should be thankful for being able to.
It's already given, if you are a long term holder, then you know what the market can bring to you in the future. So it's not about how lucky we are, it's about careful planner and then the rigorous holder mentally. It's tough to continuously buy every month and not be bothered by the price change or when the price goes down because you are looking at the bigger picture.

I personally believe that we are going to have a decent summer, not saying like 100k+, but a reach to 80k isn't out of question and we could maybe see a little bit more. Maybe we are at the start of that right now and the price will do fine, I think people should realize it is not going to be that complicated.
$100k at the end of the year is possible though. That's what I'm looking and then in 2025, we could really go on a parabolic rise. $100k is just the starting point for this bull run and we might see close to $150k or even higher as a new all time high.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 29, 2024, 12:01:12 PM
Finally, the Wolves managed to win. They had fewer field goal attempts but made more than the Mavs. However, they need to improve their free throws; they are really bad at it. They only managed to make 16 out of 25. Although they have managed to extend the series, they still need to win three in a row to reach their first NBA Finals. That's kind of hard to do against the Mavs unless they show what they did in the first and second rounds of the playoffs. Then, they do have a chance, but currently, I'm not very optimistic.
Still to far from the reality of beating the Mavs. As what was showed in the screen when I watch the game, there are only 4 teams in the history of NBA that went to game 7 from 0-3 deficit, but of course, no team had succeeded to win yet, but let's see if they'll make a history, they just need to win one game at a time.

The loss of Lively was really huge, but it was a close game actually until KAT can't miss on the outside, if he play like that in game 5, then there's a likelihood that the series will be extended in 6 or even in 7.
It's just a matter of time in the like of Towns being a good shooter to finally found his touch and his rhythm in this game. And he could be reading all the criticism that he got from this series, specially in game 3 wherein he didn't hit any threes. Same with Edwards as well, they seems to be carrying the game until in the last minutes where the Mavs took over. But not in this game though, both of them shot very well and there are no crucial turnover and they didn't choke. But still a long way to go for them to pull the impossible to comeback from a 0-3 deficit and win the series.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Summer Olympics 2024 on: May 29, 2024, 10:31:18 AM
I remember another thread, Olympic Games Paris 2024 - Discussion Thread. I vividly remember that thread because I commented that he should make it more specific and titled "Summer", but the OP didn't want to, anyway..

@danherbias07 - yes, a lot of basketball fans are looking at this Olympics because the NBA are sending their best player, including Lebron, Curry and others. So it will be fun to see them and how they will fare this time as they wanted to get back as they've lost the FIBA if I'm not mistaken and just landed 3rd or 4th position.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greediness or Addiction -which one is more disastrous? on: May 29, 2024, 09:26:39 AM
The most common type of gambling addiction is the one with greediness. That is why the addicted person will be losing huge amount of money to the extent they may not have money again but start to borrow.

But addiction can also be that the gambler is not really wasting money on gambling but gambling is really taking his time. But this type of addiction is mostly not possible.

Most addicted gamblers are greedy.
Greediness->Gambling addiction, I think that could have been the process all along for those who are into addiction. And so it's a vicious for them, maybe they could have started small and gradually becoming addicted because maybe they lose more or win big. And I would agree for those who says that both elements are present in any addicted gambler, as I have said, the impact of winning and losing? It might create a "motivation" to continue to gamble, hence you lose your control. They might not see it as just wasting money, but as avenue for them to get rich. So there is a big correlation between a addicted gamble and greed.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: May 29, 2024, 04:20:49 AM
Does anyone know if this fight is already free for Netflix subscribers or if there is another payment that we need to do similar to a payperview subscription? I reckon if this gets much attention and of this is free for all Netflix subscribers, I predict that the future of boxing might begin to transfer to Netflix and other streaming services after Showtime and HBO shutdown their boxing programs on 2023.
It will be free according to Mike Tyson,

https://x.com/MikeTyson/status/1766266102882152921?lang=en

And if you are a subscriber, you can put a reminder,  Grin

Yeah, I think that's why Netflix wanted, since the closer of HBO and Sho they want to have a piece of this action. And also to compete against Amazon Prime.

So this is really good for boxing in general.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Understanding the Emergence of Crypto Gambling on: May 28, 2024, 06:38:48 PM
What I like about crypto gambling is the privacy since we don't need to provide personal details like debit and credit cards payment do or even fiat. Crypto value our privacy as a bettor but the only thing here is that when we create accounts on gambling platforms I think that will always require KYC. Fully decentralized casinos are I think telegram casinos though I haven't tried one yet but some say it is risky as well.
Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore, in the beginning, it was just a deposit and withdrawal address, nothing more, nothing less. But when the government and financial watchdog started to look at crypto, everything has change. Now casinos will have to follow the mandated KYC as they might not get or secured a license if they don't implement KYC. And I think majority of here here knows that so it could be some are in favor or at least we don't have a choice to be honest. Another drawback could be that there are crypto base casinos that might be running a blatant scam sites in order to lure crypto gamblers and then not pay at all. A lot of drawback for us, but still, we've already learn how to adopt this changes already and embrace it.
16  Economy / Economics / Re: Cbdc are cryptocurrency it just they don't tell you that on: May 28, 2024, 05:16:51 PM
The CBDC Are the cryptocurrcny just for the most part of the world for freedom people specially in western countries.
CBDCs make use of blockchain technology that is not like bitcoin blockchain which is transparent and that its code is available to the public. The government are not calling CBDCs as cryptocurrencies and we should not argue with them because CBDCs are still digital fiat and nothing more than that. No privacy and no freedom because the government are still in control. If you need full control of you money, the best way to go is to buy coins like bitcoin that is decentralized unlike the completely centralized fiat.
Regarding freedom for crypto enthusiast that uses CBDC's? I think it's the other way around. There will be no freedom here if we uses it, why? Because government can track everything if you uses CBDC so I will have to disagree with the OP on how he defined it. Although it will make transactions very easier as we will be cashless, but still the main purpose of crypto or at least one of it's basic tenant is that we can use it anonymously. But with CBDC's it can be used as a tool by the government to see where you are spending and where you are going if you uses it. Sort of a prying eyes for them and we don't like it at all.
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 28, 2024, 12:50:31 PM
A clean sweep. Even though they won three of the four games in the last moments, they showed what a strong team they are. It's not easy to play right in the final moments of games. It takes experience and responsibility. There were mistakes from both sides at the end of this game too, but the Celtics made fewer mistakes.
Jaylen Brown was named MVP of the East. Tatum was also very good statistically in this series, he could've gotten the award. Boston will now rest for almost ten days. Porzingis will be back for the finals. They are ready to fight for the trophy.

Yes, and expected this to happen, Pacers really gave everything in this game, but without Haliburton it's going to be hard. And for sure Haliburton is very mad that the got injured and cannot help his team against the Celtics. Yes, even though Tatum is good in this series, but it was a correct call about Brown being the MVP of the East. He had that three point as well in the last 5 minutes of the game and he also played good defense with that great block. KP has recovered and expected to played in game 1 of the finals and as we might just be waiting for a imminent finals against the Dallas Mavericks.

This show that they are lacking with fire power against Celtics since they can't even do anything to get at least 1 game. But its still fine they already get a good experience with this situation they get since reaching on conference finals is not so easy. For sure they can maximize all their roster on next season then try their luck to compete again and possible to win a championship. Yes no doubt that Brown deserve that recognition since the guy is so consistent and contribute a lot for the win of Celtics. Now its exciting to see the match of Celtics and Mavs since both team are so hot this season so let see if we can see those injured players get back on finals since the game would be more fun to watch seeing them complete and increase more the level of their game since both of teams want to became a champion.
I don't think it's above firepower, it's more of the Celtics are the better team as they have the best record and only losses 1 games so far, from the first round to the Eastern conference finals. And given that the best player of the Pacers is out in game 3 and 4, it's just a matter of time for the Celtics to win and close out the series with their sweep. As for Brown winning, yes, I do agree, he deserves this MVP because he is very instrumental. If not for that corner three in the first game, the Pacers could have won it and this series might not be over.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your biggest winning odd for single match? on: May 28, 2024, 11:42:49 AM
Let's share our biggest winning odd.

Last month I won a bet with 7.5 odd.
I bet on Tennis against Rafael Nadal.  Grin Grin Grin
Good call, I don't know what matches is that, but it seems that Nadal is way past his prime already and again, not sure if he is retiring already. For me though, years ago I beat on a NBA game at a tie and if I'm not mistaken, the odds that time in sportsbet.io is 9.x I can only remember one team which is the Bucks. I don't know what I chooses tie in that game, maybe it was a hunch or I think it's going to be a close game after-all.

Eventually the Bucks won in OT, but obviously, it's a bet that I can't forget.  Smiley
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: May 28, 2024, 10:56:52 AM
It was reported that he got sick, while travelling Miami to Los Angeles, and it was diagnosed as a ulcer flareup. Maybe he just need to see his regular doctor though for a follow up checkup but he says that the is ok, so I guess the fight is going to move as scheduled although this is a scary news,

Quote
“He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing, a rep for Tyron said in a statement to media outlets. “He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him” and is now feeling “great”, the rep added.

https://deadline.com/2024/05/mike-tyson-ulcer-flare-up-flight-recovering-1235941826/

It seems like he will be just fine, but still, it does not seem like a great idea to allow a nearly 60 year old Tyson with serious health issues to be competing in a professional fight. Some of his problems are serious enough that he sometimes needs a wheelchair or a walking cane. There is too much money involved that they probably won’t cancel the fight but it is still a disgrace that Jake Paul is trying to build a name for himself in boxing by exploiting an old man who is far from being in adequate fighting condition.
Could be a big concern on the part of Tyson here if he had this kind of condition. We all know that age is a big factor here and we have been debating about him and says that he still has the power because it's natural to him. However, an aging almost 60 years old with some medical condition might not be a good match against a young athlete who are in his prime. But it's hard to judge them specially Mike Tyson as the money offered to him is big and he can't refuse it even though he might not be feeling well against Jake Paul in this fight. And in any case, there could be also some medical issues that we are not aware on Mike Tyson right now.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder Vs Zhilei Zhang JUNE 1 Heavyweight on: May 27, 2024, 12:59:28 PM
Do people still watch boxing? Joking obviously but with MMA fighting being so popular boxing has become obsolete. This particular fight Wilder is wanting to go out with a bang but might be biting off more than he can chew. Should be an entertaining fight, but Wilder likely loses and hangs his gloves up.

MMA might be more popular in the United States and a few European countries but around the world boxing still has a significant presence. Tyson Fury fought in front of 94,000 in attendance at Wembley Stadium a couple years ago, Naoya Inoue sold out the Tokyo Dome earlier this month. We’ve had some big fights involving Canelo, Inoue, Fury, Usyk and Lomachenko in the span of a month, which had a lot of buzz on social media so it’s kind of crazy to think people aren’t watching boxing anymore.
You forget to include Ryan Garcia as well. And then we have the powerful middleman from Saudi, HE Turki Alalshikh. So I think boxing is still good even if there is MMA in the background. And the thing is that MMA didn't get as much money as this boxers is getting in terms of championship fight. And you also have to look at how many MMA fighters wanted to test boxers, so that they will give that huge paycheck. Regarding this fight, it's already fight week already, so for sure many fights are also eager to see Wilder again in the ring against a dangerous Zhang.
