961  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: July 11, 2023, 10:32:25 AM
I grew up in California and always thought the gambling age was 18. I’m a bit surprised to learn that in most of the country it is 21. I guess that makes sense with all the drinks flowing in Vegas. Still, a bit surprising to think that you can go to war and die for this country to fight for freedom, but can’t put a penny in a slot machine.
I thought so too. But when I watched American movies, they always ask if the one ordering the drinks is 21, so I guess that the same age for gambling there.

Here in our country, it's 18+ to be able to gamble but I don't think that is being applied as recently I went to the newly created cock fighting arena here in my place and I saw a lot of young people. The thing is, they don't ask for ID's here as long as they think you are old enough to gamble by just judging in their faces. For me though, I saw my neighbors there who are still in high school or maybe younger, they just have a bigger body build and some facial hair so they won't be suspected.

I think it's only the online gambling sites that are strict about these rules but then again there's always a way for young people to bypass that but using either their parents' ID or their friends who are at the right age.
I'm also not aware that the legal age is 21, I also thought that it was 18, because at 18 you have the rights to vote already and maybe even drink liquor or something. But gambling might be very different as they have to increased the age to 21 to go inside a casino and they have the right to deny entry if they suspect that the person might be of underage or something as most Asians looks very young at their age.

Hopefully online gambling sites are going to be strict about this rules because obviously, it's not physical and you don't know they are dealing with. Maybe it was just a kid behind the keyboard betting on their platform.
962  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - July 29 on: July 11, 2023, 10:17:36 AM
Right, Tank vs Garcia is very different though, I mean the hype is really huge and PPV reaches more than 1 million. And I remember that we have discussed speculations about how big this fight it in terms of PPV and if I remember it correctly, we did somewhat agree that the numbers could be around 300,000-500,000 buys. But we will see.

It's getting closer, I can sense on some boxing forums that the hype is building already.

I also read some comments of former opponents of this two boxers, like Porter and they have given their own opinions about this fight.

The promoters of this fight made the PPV more expensive so it will have a hard time matching Ryan vs. Tank's numbers. Today's generation of fighters need to have a strong social media presence if they want to attract the biggest audience. Earlier this month, an influencer boxing event broke records on Twitch by getting over 3.4 million live viewers and over 100 million have watched the replay. Crawford and Spence aren't at that level of popularity but I think the years of anticipation and hype will lead to a big viewership.
Its possible, maybe lows of 500k might be the numbers for this fight as the hype as you have said has been building for many years now. Specially after the first failed negotiations and then Crawford going into the public and tell everything the details on what had happen behind.

But that is over now, they have sign the contract, and I think Spence has the lion share of the split here. It's good though for Crawford, if he beat Spence then most likely in the rematch he will have more money.
963  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 10, 2023, 07:04:25 PM

Regarding the hype, well Lebron didn't get his championship too in the first 8 years of his career. He even needs to fly to Miami Heat just to partner with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh to claim that first ring of him.
The future is not written yet, there will be lots of improvements that will happen, and how I wish I could see the San Antonio Spurs being back on the map again as a playoff and championship contender. I bet Coach Pops will smile one more time once that happens.  Wink

We're not discussing whether Wemby will win a championship, as that's too high of an expectation. We're talking about whether Wemby will be able to perform as expected, like a genuine NBA star. I have doubts that he will even win the Rookie of the Year award. No disrespect intended, but I see some weaknesses in him that opposing teams could exploit, limiting his impact. It's important to remember that the summer league is very different from the regular season.
I would agree, we really need to see how this kid will be in this year NBA season. As far as ROY, he will have to fight it out with this years draft class, but the number 2 pick from last year, Chet Holmgren. So it's going to be a tough competition ahead of him.

Of course, we have seen his weaknesses already, his body is not for banging in the whole 82 games. He will have to gain more muscles in his frame so that he will not be pushed by anyone, even smaller guys.

He bounce back though with 27 points with 12 rebounds in his 2nd game.
964  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 08, 2023, 02:59:43 AM

I don't think you are following because I certainly believe that we have already established that fact and already know beforehand that Artur Beterbiev is a Canadian citizen and has been living in the mentioned country for almost 20 years now. The only thing that connects him to Russia is that he was born at that country, nothing else.

For Dmitry Bivol, just like what I mentioned above, the unification match is not really possible at the moment because the sanctioning bodies are not allowing it to happen. Bob Arum of the Top Rank and Eddie Hearn of the DAZN is the least of their problems because Bob Arum himself already stressed before that the unification fight is only possible is if he will organize it and not Eddie Hearn and it is reasonable enough because it is them who holds three of the four belts existing.

Following that last statement, we know who's Arum is, and what he wants, right? unless Hearn will allow this to happen if money that involves will show up as diamond in his eyes, the chance of making this unification match would likely to take place. But, if there's nothing like that and Hearn is not interested in dealing with negotiation, then there's nothing that fans can do here.

They will both find another alternative and keep the belt that they've got and continue to fight a decent challenger that will matchup against them.
I think Bivol might have another fight for this year, I have to say this, but after a huge win against Canelo and then Ramirez, he hasn't followed it up for the second half of the year. It could be that he really wanted to have a rematch with Canelo but the money wasn't there for him.

So he has to move on for now and forget that payment, he needs to defend his belt. And if the unification fights come in, then good for him. So Beterbiev also wanted to have this fight. But the decision is still going to be in the hands of their promoters, to sit down and talk. If they don't want to because they have their own personal wars or what not, then this fight will be on the shelves for years.
965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Larry Fink of the day, Larry Fink of today on: July 08, 2023, 02:42:02 AM
It's amusing how opinions can flip, but hey, Bitcoin's got that effect on people. Now he's calling it a revolution and saying it's more valuable than gold. Larry, welcome to the Bitcoin club – better late than never!
Yeah, and there could be others personalities that are going to flip and then invest a huge chunk of money into bitcoin. As others have said, it's better that way, instead of being a contrarian for years and yet at the back of your mind, you know that you are wrong but can't admit to that fact because you will be laugh off.

And the incentive for him and his company? Opening the floodgates and then we can smell institutional money going to bitcoin market.

966  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 07, 2023, 11:44:26 PM
According to the latest news I read, Portland and Miami are going to have a meeting in Vegas a few days later.
Damian Lillard's manager Aaron Goodwin was very hopeful about the meeting.
Let's see what the result will be.
It's going to be interesting how Aaron Goodwin can bully his way and get his Dame to the Heat because that's what the team that Dame wanted to in the first place. If not then it's going to be ugly as there are speculations that Lillard might sit the whole season if he is not traded to the Miami Heat.

And I also heard Miami's Heat sales pitch, as there are reports who says that he will just lay down the rings in the table and says that if Lillard wanted to have that then he should go Miami. So I guess the ball is literally on the side of the Portland management, if they really wanted to make this trade or not on behalf of Lillard or move him to another team.
967  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trade altcoins during the bull run or just hodl? on: July 07, 2023, 11:24:25 PM
Next year will be my first bull run and have just been thinking about what will be best to do when it finally arrives next year.

Do you plan on just holding till an amount you are happy with or is it a good idea to try and trade altcoins whilst they are pumping to earn even more?

I don't really like trading, because I prefer to buy and hold, so if the next year a bullrun really happens and the price of crypto that I invest increases according to my target, then I will sell it and if the price doesn't match my expected target, then I will not sell it and keep holding until the price is in accordance with the target that I expect.
Yeah, most of us doesn't want to complicate things in our end, so we might as well hold good coins, like BTC, ETH and BNB or ADA or any of the top ten coins in the altcoin market right now. And there are lot of altcoins that is going to be pump in the future, specially in the bull run that it's hard to track them. Majority of them might be meme or shitcoins though, so we need to be very careful with that. So for me as well, I would just rather hold and not trade in the future, just continue to accumulate cryptos and we will all be good in the next bull run. New all time high for solid coins in our portfolio. And with that, best advise is to really buy because they are still considered cheap as of this time.
968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you Have Any Bitcoin Stories from a Decade Ago? on: July 07, 2023, 11:08:24 PM
I saw something interesting from this bitcoinblogger.com author. He seems to be able to predict the future and is very confident that Bitcoin will rise and become a digital currency that can rival The FED. His posts are also quite interesting to read, because he truly believes that Bitcoin will be popular in the future and there will be many people using it in the future.
I wonder where he was after his last post. Is he still holding on? or is he currently enjoying the results of his initial investment? but wherever he is, what he writes and his views on Bitcoin can be a motivation in the future for us to continue to believe in Bitcoin.
Is this the time traveller story?

If I'm not mistaken, there was this story here, I am a time-traveler from the future, here to beg you to stop what you are doing..

But as far as stories here in the community, yeah, this is the only one and still surviving and for sure there are a lot of OG who are still here after so many years. It's just you have to dig deeper and look for it.
969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte II on: July 07, 2023, 09:27:24 PM
Because this is their second fight which is we are all known that the underdog will want to prove who he is.
There will be more pressure now on Anthony Joshua to win the fight since his fight with Deontay Wilder, the fight we have all wanted to see will happen in December if Anthony Joshua is able to defeat Dillian Whyte, but if he does not win the fight, then the fight with Wilder will not happen. Anthony Joshua knows how dangerous Whyte can be, but he wanted something challenging before agreeing to this fight, so he will be prepared to give it his best and win it like he did before, if not by KO, by Unanimous decision.

https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/1490745/anthony-joshua-deontay-wilder-locked-in-dillian-whyte/

There could be pressure, but he has defeated Whyte soundly before, so he might be thinking that this could be just another easy fight for him. But AJ should be careful as well not to overlook Whyte here, I think he still possesses that one punch knockout and AJ should try to avoid that right hand of Whyte otherwise he might see flashes of Ruiz fight again and then he will just be knockout or knockdown in the canvass.

But I still see AJ winning here, either by decision if the fight goes on the full 12 rounds and AJ having a hard time to knock Whyte out. Or AJ finding his rhythm and power once again and scoring a big KO.
970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Olympic Games, but doping is allowed?! on: July 07, 2023, 09:17:56 PM
I don't think that this will get merit from the sporting communities obviously. Doping has been ban from the Olympics and even in all other sports as well. And so the organisers of this are doing the opposite and permitting it?

When seen a lot of sports though, supposedly to topple another one and yet no one has succeeded. So I think this will be the same, there is hype in the beginning, and then it will jus die naturally as no one will support this cheaters.
971  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin continue to rise on: July 07, 2023, 08:36:50 PM
Bitcoin is still waiting for more confirmation to be bullish, it's just that we all haven't seen it yet,
some time ago a bullish sign appeared when the price pumped to $30k and what we know is that the toughest resistance is there,
but unfortunately it's just a bull trap, so we have to wait again , let's hope the bottom is not far from the $20k level.

The price is now post today's correction starting to show signs of increasing from the initial price of $ 29,701 and starting to move slowly $ 30. 361. However, I am also a bit doubtful whether this will continue to rise because in these 2 days at the weekend there will be selling even though the percentage is small.
Isn't it that the price have risen to $30k++ already? Or did it dip to $29k'ish in the last 24 hours? I'm watching the price and maybe I missed that. I really think that it might go down below $30k again, but the good thing is that it is now the support and it's good that it is holding at that price range.

I'm not seeing this as a bull run though, it could be FOMO but it this is bull trap when we might see the price going back to where it was before. What we are seeing is the sideway pattern. And I think we might see this pattern for this month, or there will be a break out run when another good news will come in our way this July pushing it to $35k.
972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin whales took high risks, while studying price movement in the past on: July 07, 2023, 08:26:01 PM
Investing on bitcoin, doesn't require much third party validations, if they don't understand how it works, their response can destabilize your moves and ideas. Below is a CEO that purchased 30,000 bitcoin at the rate of 65$ approximately 2million dollars worth of bitcoin in 2013. I read his mail closely and understood, he didn't care about what his associates take on his decision, after doing his research he didn't hesitate about investing into bitcoin, he was sure that bitcoin will give him a good return. I've read many members complaining about being discouraged by closed friends or associates, it signifies that the person carried a low quality research on bitcoin. I don't know how the responses of his associates ended up, but he took the step with or without them. If you wish to be like them act like them.
Sure, maybe he understands bitcoin that early, or maybe he is risking, or seeing the potential of bitcoin in the future. That's why he advises everyone (but we don't know if they follow him or not).

But in this case, it really paid off for the CEO, and maybe that is also the reason why he become a CEO, because he thinks out of the box and then give good advise to someone. Me did believed in bitcoin back then, and for sure, he will continue to become one of the biggest whale up to now.
973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Oscar Valdez vs Emmanuel Navarette - Aug 12 on: July 07, 2023, 08:15:41 PM
This fight is not going to end via decision; it's going to end by KO, and either boxer could win. I'm excited to see this fight. This is the kind of fight I've been looking for, where both boxers are willing to give their all in the ring. While we haven't seen the fight yet, considering the quality of both boxers, I believe they will fight until the end, which is why I think it's likely to end in a KO.
This is likely to be the scenario in this fight, this two are going to want to knock each other out so this could turn into a ugly war and maybe we will see some blood here. The thing with Oscar Valdez is that he usually bleed specially in his face.

And Navarette is like an old school Mexican warrior that we have seen in the past. He will throw everything with vicious intent to knockout his opponents. And again, there might be no technique in him, just pure power so Valdez will have to respond as well so it might not go to the judges scorecard.
974  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The exit plan on: July 06, 2023, 09:22:35 PM
As a crypto investor that desire to make huge profit through Cryptocurrency, there is 100% need to know what exit plan is and how to effect it appropriately. I know most of us are not too experience in the Crypto line and it is best to learn from those with this experiencial knowledge.

To all experienced Bitcoin investors, kindly share your experience with us, let's learn and become expose to the reality and strategy before the next bull run. This is another means to help young investors like us.
What are your exit plan and what exit plan have you used that work well for you.
Exit plan? well the end game for the majority of us here is that when we profited already. But still depends on you, how much profit you want to take? like in terms of fiat money or percentage from your initial investment?

So no one can answer you directly? still up to you how big the profits is in your mind.

There are investors despite having lot of bitcoin thru period of accumulation, numerous bear and bull market, they are not not selling a bit. And then there are short term holders, who's goal is to just make some profit and then sell.
975  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will fall or rise? $30400 the recent price on: July 06, 2023, 09:11:55 PM
In my opinion, bitcoin will rise until early to mid-August (if you follow the Elliot waves). Then the distribution phase will begin and we can expect bitcoin to fall from September-October.  From February 2024 we can expect the start of real growth, as the halving will happen either in March or April 2024.
Let me check on that Elliot Waves, thanks for reminding. But then again, if we look at the price right now, it is where we are, $30,400, although the market has improved in the last week or so. Yeah, it's is not going to where everyone wanted to see the price. If could be that buyers are exhausted already, and with that we will have to wait again, and if what you predicted, then August could be a good month to start seeing the price on the rise and finally breaking that $30k line whether it is become a support line, or the biggest mental barrier that we have right now.
976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 06, 2023, 09:01:04 PM

It's going to be a tug of war between the two, but if fights like Spence and Crawford could be set, then most likely they should step aside their difference and sit down. Maybe they just really hate each other and if that is the reason, then the real loser will be the fans.

Beterbiev still looks good even at his age and he could still fight, but certainly a fighter will have to slow down and maybe it's going to be too late when father time caught up with him. If that is the case then if might not be good to see this fight happening 2-3 years from now.
977  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 06, 2023, 08:50:52 PM

Casimero's path to becoming a champion won't be easy since he has yet to have a championship fight. Currently, all eyes are focused on the upcoming Fulton vs. Inoue fight. By the time Casimero becomes a champion, Inoue might have already unified a belt and could potentially decide to move up in weight class once again.

If Inoue will gonna just beat his opponents easily just like he beats those guys in the lower weight division, then there's no point for him to stay in his weight class anymore rather he should continue to fully max his potential until he reached his limit and be one of the pound for pound legend in the boxing history. He is still young and surely he will gonna face some real contenders in every weight division and maybe Casimero will be one of them so that he won't be having any doubts about his skills that he was able to beat every opponent out there that are once great like him in his era.

Let's see first if his body can handle some extra weight, the ones that are required in featherweight and above, as talking about the next weight classes are kind of premature as of now because Naoya Inoue is still approaching his first fight at 122 pounds against a champion. Moreover, we don't know yet if his body frame will let him go as far as 130 and 135 lbs.
But if everything will be fine in this current division, I also don't see any reasons why he should remain fighting at 122 because given his status in the industry now, he should take advantage of it while the opportunities are still there.

Yes, I agree, it's too premature for us to judge Inoue, but we have seen many great boxers to move to different weight class and still manage to do a very good shift without noticing any difference from their power and speed.

Maybe his frame can take it, is height is listed as 1.65 m, so it's around 5.5 to 5.6 inches, so physically he should be fine.

But if he goes up in weight to let's say 126 lbs and up, now that will be different as his small frame can't take it. But let's see, the fight is slowly getting the hype is needed for Inoue and Fulton.
978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Eimantas Stanionis vs Vergil Ortiz Jr - July 8 on: July 06, 2023, 08:37:25 PM
For these who were waiting for this fight - bad news, it got cancelled again as Ortiz withdraws from fight just few day before it:
https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/37970020/vergil-ortiz-jr-withdraws-bout-vs-eimantas-stanionis
It's getting ridicuous as fight got cancelled for 3rd time. I hope that Stanionis won't agree to fight with Ortiz again and these circumstances keeps him already 15 months without a fight.
Too bad, fans have been waiting for this fight, although Ortiz is the favorite hands down. We don't know though who to believed too, because the articles says that he can't make weight, that's why the postponement.

So GBP is now headlining Floyd Schofield Jr vs Haskell Lydell Rhodes.

In any case though, I think that Ortiz might be done, I mean he has rhabdomyolysis and now diagnosed with long COVID? very hard to recover if your body is not cooperating.
979  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: July 05, 2023, 11:40:47 AM
Yeah and what's there to wait for? Because for the past twelve months the whole community, including altcoins, has experienced LUNA crash, FTX bankruptcy, other centralized services bankruptcies, the bank runs in the U.S., and the SEC FUD. Bitcoin is still above $30,000, close to +100% since November!

It's not that I'm too arrogant, yes, regarding the matter of certainty, for me altcoins cannot be placed on long-term expectations and returns cannot be expected like Bitcoin.

Altcoin holders can argue that my opinion about the altcoin is wrong because more than twelve months I have seen several of them that are considered to have the potential to actually cause big problems, such as FTX and LUNA.

It is not impossible that other altcoins that have looked good so far and have the potential to suffer the same fate as the two types of coins we have said.

In contrast to Bitcoin which is still and will continue to be used as a hope.

Actually there are certain periods during bull cycles when altcoins give higher returns than Bitcoin, and it's wise to trade some of your Bitcoin to take advantage of the volatility. But personally, I prefer my sanity over more profit. Hahaha. Plus I'm simply not a good trader. I lose more than I profit, so if people will come to me to ask for investment advice, I'll just tell them what I know = It's Pleb Life, HODL Bitcoin.
Yeah, who wouldn't want to have a good sleep at night knowing that your bitcoin is safe in your wallet and that there are no potential dump happening when you are in bed.

So most likely those who are selling their bitcoin to altcoin would lose their insanity,  Grin. But for those who are old enough or have matured on their crypto investments, we all know that bitcoin is the only coin that we should buy and then HODL for a long time.
980  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin system on: July 05, 2023, 11:10:07 AM
I'm sorry but I don't understand the diagram, and if you are learning bitcoin/blockchain technology it's not that complicated to be honest with you. OF course, some of what you point are valid, but everything can be controlled, or at least if depends on how you deal with your wallet like hackings.

Blockchain uptime is 99.99, hasn't been hacked or something.

Brokers? you mean traders? yeah, it's us, whales and average joes.
