And If you don't read whitepaper of a project before you invest your money, you are doing that at your own peril because you may end up investing your money in a scam project which means not reading whitepaper before investing is like a gamble.

So many panic at time like this as a result huge amount of money they can not afford to lose that they have invested just for a short period of time which in most cases is not advisable. All the panic sellers are the one contributing to the decline trend at present.

Selling bitcoin at this time seems to not rational especially if you buy or earn when its was far higher than the current market value of bitcoin. Bitcoin can actually cause inflation in an economy, particularly when its value appreciate so much that there is too much money in the hands of the citizenry of a country which can cause demand pull inflation or there is so much investment in bitcoin by the citizen of a country when bitcoin value is high and there is a drop in the value of bitcoin significantly for a long time can also create deflation in the economy of a country.
