You could never control how other people spending their money, because that's their money, but I agree that your friend is bad person, the best thing is just stay way from that kind of friends.

Bad person (taking bad as being evil/wicked)?  Being extravagant does not mean being a bad person...  The guy might be remorseful because he does not give value to his money but that does not make a person bad.  So having no money and asking people for help makes the person bad now?

Quote
Maybe he keep doing those reckless spending because he think he got you and his other friends as safety net, by being away and refuse to loan him some money you could help him realize that what he had done is reckless and could give him inconvenience.

I do not think that he does that reckless spending because he has someone to support him, some people never think of their future and live by the moment.  Probably that is the kind of person @OP's is talking about.

Quote
Some people make a good decision in some aspect and then make completely reckless decision in spending their money, probably because they come from poor parent that doesn't even have money to manage, thus they never learnt how to manage money. Then when they finally can get their own money they don't know how to use it wisely. But some of them would learn eventually.

And that does not make a person bad (evil)...

He live an extravagant live but he bothers his friend by borrowing his friend's money, he doesn't consider that his friend also need the money. If he want to live an extravagant live, then he should earn enough money so he doesn't give bad financial influence to his friend by asking to borrow money, I didn't mean he is like evil, he just a bad friend, that is just bad enough for me to stay way from that kind of friend. At least by staying away from him I wouldn't need to loan him some money, and by not loaning him some money he might be able to reconsider his spending because he can't no longer borrow money from me, he might find someone else, but then that's other people problem and decision.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Prepare Your Children For Bitcoin Investment and Not for Government Jobs. on: March 06, 2024, 09:56:04 PM
Nope, I will still prepare my children to have a discipline and learn a good skill, be the best at what they do, then money will follow. Crypto and Bitcoin is just a form of payment and investment you will still need to earn money before getting any of them. And crypto is still a secondary knowledge and needs, and the information is everywhere now, they wouldn't miss it. But without discipline attitude and skill, even if they have all knowledge about crypto and bitcoin but if they lack of skills and discipline they would still suffer. I wouldn't care wether they worked for government, private company or even having their own business as entrepreneur as long as they good at what they do, they should be fine.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: All Time Buy & Hodle (ATBH) on: March 06, 2024, 09:49:35 PM
This behavior is related to the type of the investors, the investors who do DCA is more of a Bitcoin believer, they believe in Bitcoin because they understand the technology and the solution and benefit they bring to the table, so they buy with less consideration about market trend. While the other investors is just a speculators, they don't really know about the tech, but they usually invest in many things and have deep understanding in how market works. I wouldn't say which one is better, but both have their own way. A speculator wouldn't buy Bitcoin and then hodl it for a long time because he will use his money to move on to other crypto or other investment instrument, because that's what they do. Making money by following investment trend.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Our decision making is responsible for the outcomes in our ways on: March 06, 2024, 09:41:36 PM
A friend of mine goes wild at me whenever I talk to him about his reckless spendings, he ask me what would be  accounted of his money if not enjoyments?

And after squandering all that he has saved he goes about requesting to borrow money.

6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't trust your old wallet of when u had no Crypto knowledge on: March 06, 2024, 01:48:39 PM
I believe most of us have created tons of wallet back in the day we still a new comer to the crypto world, and then we just forget the private key. From Bitcoin to Ethereum, and other thing like Litecoin, Monero and other stuff. So, I doubt if people is still using their old wallet from the time they are still reckless, most of them would already lost it and create a new wallet.

Also I guess people wouldn't store much worth of a crypto on their old forgotten wallet, most of my forgotten wallet filled with worthless Ethereum and Stellar Token.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: The increase of dollar affecting underdeveloped countries economy on: March 06, 2024, 01:41:50 PM
I don't know if someone has already share this perspective, but from a point of view of freelancers who live in underdeveloped country while working for international clients and getting paid in USD, the strengthen of USD is a bless. I don't need to worry when the basic needs in my country is skyrocketing, because I am getting more money too after I exchange the USD to my local currency, compared to other workers who work locally their payment are still the same.

Tho it doesn't make me significantly richer, the increase of USD help me in a difficult time like right now when the price of almost everything is increasing, even some of the stuff is doubled in price.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is that one reason that motivates you to invest in bitcoin even at ATH ? on: March 06, 2024, 01:36:11 PM
For people who do DCA even a new ATH wouldn't stop us from buying Bitcoin, at least for me, I am discipline with about my DCA rule. While for speculators I think they would wait for a correction, at the time I write this reply, Bitcoin has already experienced a correction and now it also has bounced back, so buying near the ATH is not actually a problem (at least for now). While there are also some new comer who bought Bitcoin on ATH just because they are FOMO, which never ends up in a good way.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any meme coin has the ability to challenge bitcoin dominance ? on: March 06, 2024, 01:30:00 PM
At such, do you think that any meme coin has the capacity to challenge bitcoin dominance ?

I would confidently say impossible, meme coin doesn't even reach the top of Altcoins, there are a lot of Altcoin that actually usefull and offer widely benefitting use-case while meme coin doesn't have anything to offer except their hype. Their price is just relying on supportive community, no one actually needs them, they just buy it for 'fun'. How long do you think those kind of scheme would last?
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC created new ATH before Halving: are you surprised? on: March 05, 2024, 10:08:56 PM
Not much of a surprise I think, and halving could be just one of many factors, the ETF I guess also impacting the market, and more world leader seems like supporting Bitcoin. The thing is the difference of this new ATH and the previous ATH is not that much, and it now Bitcoin price already got some correction. This could be bad, and with very little different of that current and previous ATH I think the resistance will be quite strong for the price to break the new ATH.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Excessive Bitcoin fees on: March 05, 2024, 09:56:44 PM
What will happen when only large institutions can afford to use Bitcoin's blockchain, due to rising fees? Won't this centralize the network if most can only trade bitcoin on centralized exchanges?

I believe there will eventually be some solutions to increasing Bitcoin fee, bitcoin is evolving as we have the BIP, and it looking at the history there is always improvement like how the community implemented SegWit. For what I know the recent increase in transaction fee is because the Bitcoin Ordinals trend, and if the community think the fee is getting ridiculous, there will be some solution to limit or even ban Bitcoin transaction.

One of the reason why most people believe in Bitcoin is because it is decentralized, so the one who take the decision on how Bitcoin grow and evolve is the community no the Big Company.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Few cons to be aware of before going into Bitcoin on: March 05, 2024, 02:37:53 PM
I agree with the other points, but for the irreversible, I think all money or wealth transaction is basically irreversible, so I wouldn't list it as one of the con since the other 'competitor' do the same. Other thing is about the government regulation, it's good and bad at the same time, I think some people prefer that Government doesn't do much regulation on Bitcoin, just like how people doesn't like Bitcoin ETF that much. I also would prefer if government would just legalize Bitcoin or just allow people to use it without involving much in how it is being transacted, but I guess that's just impossible.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Hard times in the average Nigerian society on: March 05, 2024, 02:20:04 PM
Nigeria in recent times has recorded unprecedented security challenges such as Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) attacks, militancy, armed robbery, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, Fulani-Herders farmers clashes, cultism among other social vices could all this current social vices be attributed to difficulty caused by having too little money or too few resources by the federal  government .
The current economic issues   in most areas of Nigeria, state capacity is low, service delivery is limited, and insecurity and violence are widespread. Wide infrastructure gaps constrain access to electricity and hinder the domestic economic integration that would allow the country to leverage its large market size.

My question now is what exactly sponsors the untold hardship in the life of an average Nigerian

I don't know which part of Nigeria are you currently living in, but I have some friends who are currently studying Islam in a University in Nigeria, and we communicate a lot and they don't seem to be bothered by the situation there. Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to deny or invalidate your problem, I just giving another perspective, it might be different between foreigner and locals.

Other thing is that even though the Bitcoin market (& Crypto market in general) is in a very good condition, there are several countries that are experiencing difficult times.

And how could you ask this questions to a bunch of online foreigner who might never have been to Nigeria?

My question now is what exactly sponsors the untold hardship in the life of an average Nigerian

People who live there should know what is their problem, if not then there is no hope to solve them.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just a friendly Bitcoin friend reminder - High price = more scams on: March 05, 2024, 02:11:32 PM

Yep, I notice that too, since the beginning of the bull-run the amount of scam email was increasing. But in my case the most annoying one is Social Media DMs and tag, basically I am now unfollowing almost all of Bitcoin and Crypto related news account, thats might be the reason those scammers are sending me DM.

But I haven't found any new MO, all of them are using similar narrative with giveaway or airdrop with phising link, nothing fancy, at least for now.

Exactly Social media should definitely be a place you stay very clear off at this particular time. Some of those links sent by those reputable people or crypto influencers you follow might not even be the ones sending those messages because many of them are getting their accounts hacked and the hackers target their followers since they know most of them shill better opportunities to their followers. Others might have share those links out of ignorance that it is malicious because them too do not sometimes do due diligence on the things they share.

One thing OP hasn’t added although is mostly connected to Altcoins is never connect your wallet to any website for any airdrop if you must do it then let it be with a fake wallet.

yeah, and it's now getting worse because the verified check mark now can be purchased by anyone, people used to be able to recognized a public figure from that verified checkmark. All that being said, I guess if anyone has enough knowledge and experience they would know that anything that is too good to be true would definitely be a scam.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone here in El Salvador? on: March 04, 2024, 09:59:54 PM
Her guys. I'm looking to move out of Canada and into El Salvador to start a Bitcoin business. Or rather to greatly expand the one I have here in Canada.
One problem I have is I am not able to find a fast and affordable source of Bitcoin inside El Salvador.
I would need a supplier of Bitcoin in large quantities. Probably around 50k per week to start, and more as the business grows.

You are making a really suspicious post here, you said that you are already in Bitcoin business in Canada, but you don't seem to understand how Bitcoin works. You don't need a specific Bitcoin that is from inside El Salvador, you can just buy Bitcoin from around the world, easiest way is from Exchange, and since you don't have any trouble sharing all this in a forum you shouldn't mind doing KYC. And after that you could just put those BTC in your wallet and start your business. And after you get into El Salvador you still could buy Bitcoin from around the world, and use it there. There is no specific Bitcoin that can only be used in El-Savador, all Bitcoins is works in El Salvador.
16  Economy / Economics / Re: Boycott of Chinese products and economic relations - when ? on: March 04, 2024, 09:53:14 PM
I don't think China has ever done anything nearly similar as what Israel is currently doing to any countries, but besides all that politic. I think it's easy to boycott Israel products or products that is supporting Israel because there isn't many products in that category compared to product that is related to Chinese. And the products that is related to Israel is a tertiary product that has many cheaper alternative with similar or even better quality. While with Chinese product, there are millions or even billions of product that is definitely a Chinese brand or related to Chinese, and they have an good price with fairly okay quality, it's hard to find the alternative especially for people in the 3rd world country with less money.
17  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving don't make wealth on: March 04, 2024, 09:20:52 PM
Sure investing is more profitable and our saving is indeed eroded by inflation, but both have different purposes and if we consider many aspects both are just good for their own purpose. Investment is good for gaining and getting profit and avoid inflation if you do it right, but there is also some risk of value loss, and not to mention that in some investment you need sometimes to withdraw the fund. While in saving even though the value is decreasing because of inflation, but in the case of emergency situation you can directly withdraw the money.

We can do both saving and investment.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: When is next significant correction coming? on: March 04, 2024, 01:45:57 PM
What do you mean by significant correction? I don't think there is Significant or insignificant correction it's just correction, if the correction last too long then it become a new bear trend.

Other that, there is no certain way to perfectly predict any correction, even with sophisticated and supposedly 'prooven' trading indicator and analytic there is still possibility of wrong prediction. You won't get any satisfaction answer with that question.

For me my plan is just hold and DCA, even if there is a correction.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Patience is power on: March 04, 2024, 01:35:14 PM
I read a thread that talked about patience and that all the newbies should Hodl coins instead of trading a

I guess if you can afford and you are ready for small loses, small amount of day trading now and then wouldn't be a problem, especially if you have a lot of free time, and you are planning to do day trading with quite big amount in the future, eventually you will lose some, better to loss some money to gain some knowledge about trading then to just lose money without getting anything.

they should go through what the high ranked members post before making their own post.

This is partially through, but to put more context I think what important is that, new member shouldn't pretend to know something that they don't and they just make some post that they are not actually understand.

But what I can say is that you should do things that you enjoy as long as you it didn't harm you or other people.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Reckless financial decision ? on: March 04, 2024, 01:23:06 PM
Do you think a celebrity who turns down a multi-million dollar deal solely because the organization doesn't allow him smoking weed is a reckless financial decision?
Keep in mind this definition of reckless financial decision - It entails when a person makes choices that involve significant financial risk or lack of consideration for the potential consequences.

If this is a performance related work, then it needs more context. Some celebrity feel they could perform better when they do some rituals like smoking weeds before show or other things. So, if they couldn't perform with their best because they can't smoke weed, and they just turn down the job, then it actually is the right decision, saving them from ruining their reputation that might give them even more potential financial loss because they accept a job that doesn't allow them to perform their best and then could ruin their reputation.

A good financial decision is not just about making the most money at the very moment, but how to keep our business, and our client expand and make our income stable and sutain.
