461  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need to Trade My Coin on: October 08, 2023, 12:50:07 PM
Each method whether HODL or Trading works, but it depends on the person, or even some people can do both. For anyone who already understand the method of trading, chart and candle movement, and they have a lot of spare time to watch the market, trading would be the best way to grow their portfolio instead of just hodling, while for people who have less spare time, trading wouldn't be ideal, every minutes matter in trading, hodling is the best option for those type of people.
462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin millionaire: Lucky or possesses more qualities that we don't have. on: October 08, 2023, 12:40:17 PM
Why not both? I know no one who become millionaire just because of Bitcoin investment, but I know people who make a lot of profit because they buy / trade Bitcoin, some of them are early adopter, most of those early adopter are software engineers who knows about Bitcoin and just mine it for a while, they just left their Bitcoin on their wallet, and when they heard that Bitcoin price was going crazy in late 2017 they sold it and they made a lot of money, I consider them as both Lucky and have more knowledge than others. While some other are buying bitcoin right before the price going up 2020, they aren't tech savvy, they never heard and never do any research on Bitcoin, they just buy bitcoin because they heard the popularity of Bitcoin, that's just pure luck.
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin (DOGE) Pumps 10% As Elon Musk Links Memecoin To X on: October 08, 2023, 12:22:54 PM
I tend to be skeptical that the Dogecoin 10% price up is mainly caused by Elon tweet, instead I think it's actually because the crypto market in general is in green. I don't think posting video made by Doge designer will attract the investors, the case would be different if Elon integrate Doge payment to the platform, maybe accepting Doge to pay for blue subscription.
464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is digital currency powerful? on: October 08, 2023, 03:04:16 AM
Compared to fiat currency, Digital currencies are very powerful in-terms of control. You can control your own coin. There is no interference from the government, no one can rob it or counterfeit it. You can use it globally and expand your business internationally. I don't find anything more powerful than this! what is your thoughts on it !

on certain parts, digital currency is indeed powerful, but because OP only mentioned digital currency in general not specify it like Bitcoin, or Ethereum, or others, not all digital currency is uncontrolled by Government, there is a CBDC, and even worse some many cryptos are controlled by anonymous or proxy entity, with government we can actually take a legal action if we think we got cheated, but with some cryptos we can't really do anything if we lose money on those cryptos. Best option would be Bitcoin obviously which actually is decentralized.
465  Economy / Economics / Re: Marriage mean double your passive income, rental property mean double your passi on: October 08, 2023, 02:21:39 AM
People who think that renting properties/real estate all easy is the one who never actually doing it. It's the same as doing other businesses, you need manage the money, you need manage your employee, you also need to think about the maintenance, and it could get worse if you have a problematic tenant. If a person has try to do renting real estate, they might even disagree to call it passive income
466  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Apakah ada perbedaan sesudah naik ranking on: October 07, 2023, 12:46:42 PM

467  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Akun X satoshi ? on: October 07, 2023, 12:36:00 PM

468  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture vs oil on: October 07, 2023, 12:20:06 PM
If we talk about the effect on economic strength, then Oil is definitely has more significant effect on it. First of all, the modern agriculture also relies on oil, all those machine was running on oil. Other than that, almost all countries has fertile soil, where they can grew crops and make farm, but not many countries has oil resources, thus make supply were much less than the demand. And this is why many countries now trying to move to renewable energy.
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is cryptocurrency a financial pyramid on: October 07, 2023, 06:24:31 AM
In my opinion, I do agree that some cryptocurrency are a pyramid scheme, but not all of it. I only consider cryptocurrency that has a useless product, as a pyramid scheme. I think what make a project a pyramid scheme is where the product doesn't really solve any problem, the only people buying it are speculators who wish to re-sell it with higher value to other speculators, none of the buyers actually using the product.

While Bitcoin in nowadays case, people are actually buying it to do a transaction. Not everyone buying Bitcoin only to speculate, most of them buying bitcoin so they can do international transaction, with much less fee, and in less controlled environment. This factor alone already prove that Bitcoin is not a pyramid scheme.
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig "Faketoshi" Wright saga continues. His team turns against him. on: October 07, 2023, 06:15:37 AM
Actually I have never heard of the name before someone made a thread about fake Satoshi's tweet few days ago, then I dig more about him and to be honest he wasn't so good to do his fraud, lol.
Even some people who aren't really following crypto community (people who only knows Bitcoin) most of them do not believe that Craig is Satoshi, and I think no one on this forum will believe him. Previously his CEO even callout on him being a fraud,

471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is for everybody but we must accept it before it can be ours. on: October 07, 2023, 06:04:27 AM
I think OP is miss-understanding the phrase,'Bitcoin is not for everybody', it doesn't mean that Bitcoin was made by satoshi for only certain of people, of course Bitcoin was made for everybody, but the actual meaning of the phrase 'Bitcoin is not for everybody' is that not everyone want to accept Bitcoin, and not everyone is willing to use it, even some people who want it there they may face some restriction in some form. So, Bitcoin is indeed made for everybody but not everyone was 'made' to accept Bitcoin.
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is this fascination with claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto? on: October 06, 2023, 12:41:56 PM
Claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto guarantees attention, even if debunked.

Yeah, I think that's the main purpose, they just seeking for attention. By doing that, people who doesn't even heard of their name now know them. Bad publicity is still publicity, and all publicity is good publicity. Tho, I believe that most people won't believe them, especially members of this forum, no one will believe them. But their follower who already 'pledge their loyalty' will still believe any lies they say.
473  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin volatility on: October 05, 2023, 02:16:03 PM
I think Bitcoin have gain more popularity to the level that people no longer go into panic selling when any negative news about Bitcoin came up, people mostly sees it as a long time investment, that's why it's displaying less volatility.
Investors have more faith now in Bitcoin because it always fight back in value no matter how the price depreciate.

Well, more people realized that. But definitely not all of them. There are still a lot of people who want to enter the crypto world to become rich quickly, fail to do that, and abandon it forever or for a long time.

I think those kind of people who hope to get rich quickly by hoping and speculating on Bitcoin volatility will not ceased to exist, and it's not only Bitcoin, those kind of people will come and go and then comeback when the Bitcoin shows some movement. I am not saying they are bad, but I just prefer that bitcoin will be more stable with wider adoption as currency, because it's the initial purpose of Bitcoin.
474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I choose Bitcoin on: October 05, 2023, 02:05:22 PM
Yesterday my partner came up with an idea to deposit a good some of money in a fixed deposit account on an online banking platform offering a 13% interest rate, they offered to pay the interest upfront but the initial deposite would be locked in till the exact stipulated time. Though this may sound like a good deal I discouraged him from making this investment for the following reasons.
Firstly with the rate at which the traditional currency in my country is steadily loosing value and the proposed profit and initial deposit might just be valueless at the matured time this deal might be of little or no value.
Secondly these platforms in my opinion cannot be trusted as different reasons can lead to their folding up and shutting down. I understand that life's a risk but some risks are not worth taking.
On the other hand I offered a solution. I asked him to invest in Bitcoin, now even though the price of bitcoin is volatile, in my opinion it is still more profitable to invest in Bitcoin especially for long term investment than in any fixed deposit scheme.
If you were in the position to give financial advice to someone looking for a long term financial investment, what would you advice?...

13% annual interest rate is a very suspicious, it's too good to be true. I guess you just saved your friend from a scam. I would say that suggesting him to invest in Bitcoin is a good move, but I think before that, you need to explain to him about Bitcoin and show him some article that relevant for why Bitcoin could be a suitable investment for him, and after that he can move on with his own decision. My concern is that if he just listen to you without fully understanding about Bitcoin investment, when the market crash he will blame you for losing part of his money.
475  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a mentor in my bitcoin journey. on: October 05, 2023, 01:49:41 PM
It's not necessary but having a mentor when you are learning something new will definitely accelerate your studies. However, finding a good mentor that wiling to share their knowledge is quite hard, in any field of knowledge, especially Bitcoin which is fairly new stuff. Some people might refuse to become a mentor not because they are arrogant, but because they feel like they are still lack of the knowledge even though they already know much, and with new technology like Bitcoin it will more likely to happened. Even if you can't find any mentor you could still learn so much about Bitcoin in this forum.
476  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you are becoming a billionaire in 2025,buying a large ship should not be goal on: October 05, 2023, 11:29:10 AM
If you are becoming a billionaire in 2025, buying a large ship should not be a goal

I am really curious OP because you specifically mention large ship in the title, is this a common practice in from where you come from? Rich people buying large ship? Because even I live in an archipelago, I have never heard anyone buying large ship, even the ultra rich, they usually just put their money on real estate, if we talk about transportation, then most common thing is private jet I guess.

It's still the same I think, they just buying things that they need and desire, only small people actually contribute to the community like what OP's propose,

To overcome all these things you must do things that remove all these deprivations,
1. Build free homes for people who don't have houses
2. Provide free quality food to people (And do it all before 2028)
"You can launch a project with the help of cryptocurrency or do something through AI"
3. For those who are deprived of wealth, the means to provide wealth should be created (As the maximum purchasing power of a person in poor countries is 2 dollars, converting these 2 dollars into 2000 dollars per month should be our next step)
4. Many things are necessary to improve people's health and eliminate death

But to be honest I really can't find anyone who did all those things, and can solve all those problem, it's too utopic that you think few people can solve world problem, those problem is structural and need a huge political will and power to be solved.
477  Economy / Economics / Re: Women are more economical than men. on: October 05, 2023, 11:17:03 AM
I don't economic literation and knowledge has any relation to gender or sex. It's more of each individual experience that shape them, I think if someone came from a wealthy family and their parents care to pass on the knowledge they tend to have better understanding on how to manage their financial. While someone who came from less wealthy family will understand the struggle of earning money and they would know better on how to safe money. The unfortunate one is people who grew up in a wealthy family but doesn't have any role model, most of this kind of person that I  know, only know how to spend their money on just anything they want.
478  Economy / Services / Re: Utopia P2P Ecosystem 💎 | Review Campaign 🔎| Get paid in BTC | Full members+ on: October 05, 2023, 05:03:17 AM
Hi, this is my review of the Utopia Desktop App, First of all, I use the MacOS version so my experience maybe different to other people's experience who are using different OS. I wouldn't make points of the pros and cons, instead I will focused on the things that matters, at least in my opinion. And I wouldn't make the step-by-step to install and start the application because there are already others who made that.

At First Glance

The installation of Utopia was very seamless no problem at all, and they really do a good job in introducing the features in the opening pop windows. I could grasp all the surface of every features on there, so even though it's a little overwhelming it's not confusing at all, every details on the Welcome pop up is on point. I like the Dark Theme especially the color tone, compared to the dark theme of most of other app, because it's not totally black/black, more of a dark blue, so even with the extreme low light condition the overall text and images are still highly visible, so I don't need to increase the brightness of my screen.

My only complaint is the sound effect, that I think it's too much, but it can be muted and there is a single button to instantly mute all the sound effect. So not a big deal.

About the UI / UX

Many people on other reviews said that the Utopia Desktop App UI is a little bit overwhelming and I tend to agree with that, the more younger generation who are used to the more simplistic and very minimalist design might need more time to adapt. But for people who grew up with software UI in the early 2000 and 2010 this design bring a nostalgia. Especially with the Channel chat feature, really bring me back to the era of Yahoo Messenger and mIRC. And I really like the choice to use Tab Bar to navigate through different section of the app, make it easier and faster to navigate between the section, instead of using Sidebar.

With all that good thing, I found some weird interaction in the app, I am from Indonesia and surprisingly Utopia App is available in Indonesian Language, so I try that but there is something that make me confused, It's hard for me to find the 'Preference' or the setting menu when the first time I set the app to Indonesian Language.

So, when the app is in English the 'Preference' menu is located in the main 'utopia' menu. like the image below.

but when I switch to Indonesian Language, the setting or 'Pengaturan' in Indonesian, is located under the Tools or 'Alat' as shown below

I don't know the reason behind this decision, could be a good reasoning like more Indonesian are more familiar with the setting section under the Tools menu, but for me I find it quite confusing.

Other awkward interaction I found is that when I try to attach an image on email feature and then try to view the attachment, it’s opened in full tab screen in new tab but my email draft window brought to the back, I can't see it because it covered by the main app windows. And to open it again, I need to click on the ‘Show all windows’ on the utopia dock icon, or drag the main app window to find my email draft window.

Really Appreciate the Indonesian Translation

I really apprecite the Indonesian version of the app, because not many project consider making Indonesian translation of their App. And the translation is thorough and accurate, it's not just direct translation with automated translation that most of the time choose the word and phrase recklessly. All that being said, I still found some part that are not yet translated into Indonesian, and it's still in english like two sections below. 'Treasury Data' and 'Mining' sections

Quote
Finally, I think the team is heading on the right direction with this project, I wish more people will use this app and the community is growing, I really like to try to play the Texas Holdem Poker on the App, but there are just not many people want to play. I really recommend Utopia for people who are looking for a decentralized community app, especially for people who grew up with Yahoo Messenger or mIRC and miss those time.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest only in Bitcoin and never invest in shitcoin on: October 04, 2023, 03:14:49 PM
I would never prohibit anyone to buy anything including shitcoin, because it's their money, and it's their choice, tho if I know the person personally I would advice them to do more research on those shitcoin, and prepare for the worst. I know that most of the altcoins is just a fraud, but many of them is also worth buying.
480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop discouraging people from Bitcoin... on: October 04, 2023, 03:08:57 PM
I have noticed something about some people in this forum...

Why is it that everytime a newbie shows his or her interest in trading Bitcoin, some people will always try to discourage the newbie?  You see them saying things like “Bitcoin trading is not for newbies”

None of us here was born a professional trader, fact is that we all had to start from somewhere. We were all once a newbie, until we started learning and putting in the work.

So when you see a newbie ask for advice on how to start up on their journey in Bitcoin trading, don't try to discourage them, rather give them the advice on how they can start, and also let them be aware of the risks and how to avoid it. If we must grow the community, then we have to learn to encourage everyone to get along, and not try to discourage them.

Bitcoin is for everyone, and no one should be left behind.
Thanks.

Well, those people are not wrong, Bitcoin Trading is not for a newbie trader. I mean someone is still learning about the basic of trading like chart, signal, .etc, I wouldn't advice them to trade on Bitcoin, because the market volatility and uncertainty is fairly higher than other trading like Stock, or even Forex. It's like, you should learn to walk before you can run, in Bitcoin & Crypto losing your portfolio value up to 5%-10% in just a  single day is not a rare case.
