its actually not uniswap, there ate two ponzi contracts out there using up most of the gas , probably in a month the devs will cash out and they will be dead
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: TPS 1530 Review - Quiet efficient FPGA reprogrammable miner on: August 13, 2020, 02:59:39 PM
3k to mine some shit alt like nimiq when eth profitablity is x4 lol but wait those ecu don’t even have a public bitstream for dagger, even though they have the ram.  No ones buying fpgas right now over gpus like the 5700 that smash eth for 110 watt 55 mhs
Eth mining is going through a spike, anyone who has mined for more than a little bit knows that. If you've been through a full mining cycle you've already seen the majority of gpu miners had dumped their hardware for a lot less than they paid. The thing with fpga is they have extreme longevity, if you look at the F1 units by HAC the underlying Fpga chips are from 2011 and they are still profitable. When it comes to pure core mining the VU9 can get 10-13x the hashpower of a 1080ti with h around 200w used.

Memory based bitstreams are in the works by some developers, especially on devices with hbm but that development experience is giving them insight into bringing them over to vcu1525 based devices and we have the possibility going forward of these core heavy Fpga miners also being able to mine memory based algorithms soon.

if you are really honest you know that with the BCU/VCU noboday beside the Vendor/Bitstream Coders make Money.

i guess ROI for this Device is >350 Days. I would rather take a bet on ETH/BTC for that instead of start tinkering with one FPGA...

Yeah thats my thoughts exactly too, the best bitstreams dont get released to the public until the devs have tapped out the profits to some extents too, i guess if you want some hardware to play with and have $$ to burn its cool but unless it can mine everything i don’t see the attraction
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I bought 30 grand usd worth of P106 and hosted them in China! on: August 13, 2020, 04:01:57 AM
Lol no, no it isnt. That was a rhetorical question. Please check your stats over 24 hours with and without "dual" mining zil and compare $$ earnings. Even the 1-2 minutes your system spends mining Zil is not worth it, just mining Eth all the time WILL net you more $$. Not to mention the complexity and chances of failure it adds because of the constant switching.

I guess they will never learn, reminds me people using celeron with their gpus together and because the cpu was being used for mining, that lag between the cpu and gpus lowered the efficiency of the system as a whole and coin hashrate. In the end they were losing more than earning anything worth, trolls never learn.
its of course not worth it if you stupidly sell your zil at the current price then of course lol , even then my average hash rate on nanopool it’s basically the same over a six hr period mining both.  To each thier own

and by the way there are proxy pools now that mine to your primary pool so there is no switching at all, Im passing on information and im troll a troll funny coming from the biggest troll agains mining on this board ok lol.

3080/3080ti release next month hehe
its not interesting, same 10 to 15% improvement , only thing remotely interesting is the efficiency maybe

Got paid 0.5722 eth today, sold at 394, 5.74 profit per rig

Nothing much today,

sheet is updated.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LBD2zgDZxrdUkreOYUcwBqr75E0l_jdsqz4ZpTW6GNY/edit?usp=sharing

And thanks for all those supporting me. I cant say thanks to each one of commenting, because I am a newbie and I have to wait six minutes for each reply lmao

And I am also considering to use hedging product of some financial company...

Hedge at 400 until my break even period ends...

your total hash rate is 6 gig ? thats very nice for 30k

you should mine zil as well extra earnings
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 10, 2020, 10:23:18 PM
the problem with smos is you habe to premod your cards, you can’t use claymore straps

That particular issue is not a problem for me since I already BIOS-modded-strapped all of my RX 470's.

However, I was just about to download the SMOS image and flash to my USB stick when i read on their site that this does not currently support Wi-Fi?!?!  Is that correct?

That will be a problem for me as all my rigs are wi-fi based and spread throughout my house  to spread the heat out.

then do just 1 rig with it.
i take back what i said, the newer versions of smos allow you to use the amd memtweak tool on the fly the strap your cards like what claymore does.  Its up to you to find the right straps and it seems you also will want to match card memory at the least so the straps work for all card in a rig.  Trying it now with my vegas and it works like a charm

Hello All,

Agree with jgonzi  for the cards ranking, Sapphire is the best brand (easy replacable fan, very high quality build and impressive cooling, with NITRO+>Pulse>Pulse BE

If someone can give us information about flashing the bios I would be interrested. I saw a couple of video about rx 5700 biosmod but until now noone of rx 5600 biosmod

Regards
Jean
saphire has a crap 2 year waranty i shy away from those , msi for amd and asus for nvidia
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mininig with Air Conditioner ??? on: August 06, 2020, 10:21:51 PM
Where I live it can get really hot during the summers and in my experience, AC doesn't do much for the rigs. What you need is a good exhaust to vent out the hot air outside.

That is the thing people dont understand, with temps around 40c or more, during summer or in tropical places, air conditioner does not work unless is totally sealed off and it does double than 3.6 btu per watt. The ambient air will make ac useless if otherwise.

when people are mining with air conditioned rigs. you sell your coins and RUN!  Cheesy

Exactly, but we are not quite there yet hehe, crypto has to rise a lot yet, remember the $20 per card per day? hehe, this week, crypto reached $1 per card per day again, so there is a lot to go before that.

we were never at $20 per card lol what are u talking about, maybe $20 per rig you meant.  Im not talking about mining eth back in 2016 and holding to resell for a profit of $20 plus or more per card.  I don’t remember a sustained $20 output per card for daily ming profits

Haven't posted here in a long time.  I've been mining non-stop since 2017 and for the last year plus, just with my GPUs (55 total, mostly 1080Ti's) and with my 50Kw of solar, that is covering my power cost 100%.

Phil all those GPUs you sold me way back when are all still going strong!   Grin
how does 50kw cover 55 gpus ? 10kw won’t even cover one rig 24/7 or do u only mine during the day?

what are the command line options for turning off GPUs withoute using a config file.  i.e claymore ytou can do -di 0,1,3  and phoneix its -gpus 123

also how do i get the strap from claymore to apply via this miner , on 8 gig cards i can run claymore first and disable its gpus then run team red

but on 4 gig cards this wont work due to the dag in two places ?

use -d 0,1,2... in the miner command line for device selection (also e-N or d-N in console while miner is running to enable/disable individual GPUs)

amdmemtweak is best for mem timings

thanks , ill just have to reflash my cards gor smos

Did you have a chance of using RTX 2080? If yes, then what would you say is better AMD RX 5700 or GeForce RTX 2080? Lately am in the market for an upgrade and I looking for something that doesn't overheat easy.

check reviews about heatsink weight, in general, the more it weights the better will be the cooling when summer hits because what is important is to keep the gpus temperature less than 70 degrees Celsius, on winter it won't matter much but on summer it will, the problem is that most reviewers don't say the heatsink weight, they should, that is important not only from a miner perspective but from an end user/gamer too.

Well that's something new I learned today I had no idea that GPU's heating is dependent on heatsink's weight. What would you say the ideal weight of heatsink should be when considering a new GPU?
its apples to oranges, ive had some gpus 470x red dragon with a fat ole heatsink but comes with one fan and the run hot and die in droves , others have dual fans an a slim heatsink works fine and they are cool.  i think i do agree  bigger is better but its just on measurable.  Does the card have vrm cooling? or just the gpu , my expreinece msi tends to have the best fans

A few weeks ago, I have started to revive and dusted off my old GPUs from the storeroom.... 13 x 1080tis, 6 x 1070ti and a few dozen 480s,470s and 1060/P106-100 .....   put them all to work under SMOS and Phoenixminer.

USB Linux SMOS for fast deployment under 1 dashboard.

Phoenixminer for ETH mining with lowest dev fee (compared to Claymore).

Highest density using K35 motherboards with 8 x PCI slots and Delta 2400w PSUs.

Since, everyone will be furiously mining ETH till POS.... I decided to do otherwise and point every ounce of hash and sell it to Nicehash, in exchange for BTC instead. I expect "crazy pricing" at Nicehash soon since they are crazies out there that would pay crazy rental prices at NH and MRR, especially for last few months of ETH POW.

All my GPU gear are ex 2016 and paid for several folds, so I guess this revival project will be the last hurray for these GPUs.

As for offsite hosting... I had to shutdown my 1ph SHA256 farm (33 x 30THs ASICs) but retained DCR and FPGA hosted mining to save on power bills. If BTC 20k.... even the 30Ths ASICs will make money and can be revived.

Good luck to us all!

thanks for the tips on getting my 4GB rigs up and running again, i really appreciate them!

.
<snipped>
.
So, based on these results I will likely move all for AMD rigs over to Phoenix miner.  I do like the look of the SMOS Phil mentioned, but if this method works on my other 3 rigs, I will likely stay with it to avoid the extra cost and time.  If I was starting from scratch though that definitely looks like a cool way to manage rigs!
haha same here i got at lear six rigs of 470s 480s i can bring up on smos , i tried one rig already it works but you have yo remod all your cards with 1 clip straps since i unmodded all my cards for progpow ugh

Hello,
Thank you for this miner.
Now my RX570 4Gb is mining fine : what is the last DAG, we will be able to mine with it ? Any ETA?
Thank you
no luck with rx 470 4gig on windows, tried both drivers

Hi 2 all!

I want to share what I have observed in last 2 months.

First, I want U to know as I know how to mine, I know to set virtual memory, tweaks, OC, I have minimum 150% power reserve on PSU's, etc, so not noob user here, I have tried all possibilities, with or without IGPU on CPU (knowing issues between AMD and IGPU Open CL parts from driver).
.

Now, the problems:

I have one rig with 6 pieces Radeon 5700XTX (moded bioses), first I had it since rig made, on Intel B250 chipset and now trying it on Intel H110M chipset too (the further problems as will be described are manifesting the same on both different chipset motherboards in the last 6 weeks, first I have suspected stupid Intel chipset, that's why I try now on earlier chipset H110M).

In last period, no matter wich drivers I have used (I tried better said) on all 20.x.x series except last one 20.7.1, wich not supported by Phoenix yet, rig fails randomly with no reason, phoenix miner freezes, all GPU's running in the last seconds before system (windows 10 1909) gets locked, all freezed, even remote desktop see it as offline, just hard reset revives rig.
Then after reset/restart, situation repeats, I locked into log.txt file on phoenix miner folder, no graphic card fails, none showing 0.000MH, rig freezes and fail at around 52.xxMH .
I mention in the last month, I have left mem freqs stock at 1750MHz, to be sure the fail is not because GPU's mem OC, so exclude OC can generates fails, I tried leaving stock even GPU freq and voltage too, so stock all card settings, as factory.
Same problem, random fails, sometimes after 20-40 minutes, sometimes after 3-5 hours, and before that it have run more than 200 hours perfectly with no fail or intrerruption, no matter if OC/undervolt GPU or stock freqs on mems and gpu's, same rig, same settings, same temperature (57-62 celcius degrees).
I have customized windows version (no antivirus, no junks, no updates by any kind), that worked perfectly until last almost 2 months singe problems has begun.

Problerms are not daily, it happens in last time period, 3 weeks ago, rig runs smooth for 198 hours with 20.4.2 driver, and 4.9C Phoenix.
Now, even PM 4.9C seems to be not stable anymore too, a friend of mine also with 5700XT cards claim it too, so many fails!

What the hell is happening?

Is maybe because Phoenix is trying to help as much as possible mining with old RX 4xx-5xx 4GB series cards in implementation of last versions  of PM above 4.9C (most stable miner ever for me), creating problems for RX5700(XT) series?

I have observed as closer come to the DAG 37x wich will go obsolete 4GB cards for mining, and more trying/upgrading versions pf PM (now is 5.1E) to keep mining with old 4GB Radeons, can affect in negative matter the RX5700(XT) to many fais miner?

The other rig that a friend of mine owns it, I have made it with 6 Radeon VII, rig runs flawless for weeks, no fails, no intrerruption,I have used on it same customized windows version 1909, (no antivirus, no junks, no crappy updates), both systems using valid keys for activation.

Why only radeon 5700(XT) rigs fails randomy? I have 2 more friend wich shares the same type failures, they have good rigs too, with adequate PSU's, so no hardware troubles, as their rigs works flawless months ago, they-re have monthly maintenance, cleaning, etc...

Also for the ones wich uses Radeon VII cards, the best driver (wich better boost and stability) is 19.7.4, I have tested alot of drivers but this 19.7.4 rocks!

So, maybe anyone can solve mystery why just Radeon 5700(XT) fails with no reason?

Today, since early morning, I tried SRB miner instead phoenix, 0 fails until now, but around 1MH lower hashrate for each graphic card. In the end I prefear to lose 5-6MH on rig and stability instead 10 restarts by day because Phoenix fails ald lock the rig.

i had the same problem i narrowed it down to phoniex needed a higer core and lower mining intensity
i run my modded 5700xt and 5700 cards with mi 12 and core 860
and they seem stable 3 days now at 55.6 mhs, phoniex says 120 watts but im sure its like 140

i think a few cards cannot handle lower than 850 core or it was the mi, value ill play with both settings more

HAHA i'm mining with windows and 4GB cards, and i give not up, because why? My Rigs running well.

After reading your description the fix for windows is -> use internal gpu as first gpu and you have no problems.

Wait until 370 epoch, you will change your mind.

Great thread, one thing is missing and is until what dag number #3xx will those people with 4gb mine eth on simplemining OS? 4GB is if I'm not mistaken exactly dag #384.

He mentions the 4gb cards die in dec or nov 2020 even on simple mining

My worst card is a 1050ti mining on kapow.

I have 2 or 3 1660's
I have 4 rx 5500's all 8gb got a good deal on them
I have 2 rx 5700's
I have 11 1080ti's
I have  2  1070's
I have 1   1080

well december eth 2.0 will launch anyways and mining will be dead right?
