581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum has reached the historically lowest point of profitability per megahash on: August 13, 2018, 09:35:59 PM
and the funny thing is that some idiot created a thread and said is a good time to buy gpus, hehe, when is like this, the best thing is buy coins directly and without fear at all cause from here is only profit, funny will be in 2020 as eth hits $8k - $16k and trolls had an opportunity to buy eth at $290 in july 2018.

Its only bad for the newbies who got in this year, most hardcore miners have been in th game since 2016
at the latest, they dont ask dumb questions on the forum like ... is mining profitable? lol , cuz thier rigs are payed off years ago and would stilll be in the green with sub 200 eth even.

The newbs were late to the party they should have listened and bought cheap crypto instead of mortgaging thier house and buying over priced gpus on credit.

let em burn , people need hard lessons sometimes, unfortunately though if they had listened to you metroid
and bought eth in the 500s or btc at 8000 they would still be fucked.  Its a lose lose situation for newcomers

Its the damn asics

I hope it goes lower

how do you benchmark hex , its not available on profit switching
583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Good time to buy GPUs? on: August 13, 2018, 08:59:48 AM
I do think that new series will be very expensive price per mh/s. Dont think there is anything to be very exited about it. Not always new series of cards is very profitable for mining, like RX470 from AMD is there out most profitable card for 3 generations already.
Why to think like that? For example remember what was the price of rx580 at the begining? It was very loe but now? It's very high. Maybe new GPUs will be great for mining too? Who knows? But there is a chance they will be great and low in price for the first time. Also 1stmining is a great website which adds reviews of GPUs pretty soon.
Gpus are valued by demand , more demand bigger the price. Ok lets say they will much more efficient , youll see they will be priced as efficient are they. Mining game is so big that they are monitoring the market all the time. New gpu releases are delayed cause there is to many gpus now manufacturer and nobody doesnt buy them at these prices, but they are reduced every day and are nearly reached the old prices where you could buy RX470 for 150euro excl. here in Europe 2 years ago.
Yup
smart buyers are waiting for prices below two year card prices, remeber these current cards are 3 year old tech, their prices are artificialy high due to the prior crypto bull run

then now cheap. i will check after work
for me a cheap card is brand new rx 570 8gb for $190ish , a brand new 1070ti for $370 or lower
my days of buying used cards are long behind me , reasle waranties are a bitch

I don't know what are the prices in your country, but where I'm from prices in the stores are much higher than the prices of used cards. I have bought 6 out of 7 cards in my rig as used cards and I had only one problem with the vent on one of the cards that started making noise. I returned it to the store and they changed it free of charge, of course.
one or two used cards might be worth the risk , but in my experience paying $50 less per card US prices
is not worth losing the entire worth of the card if you camt waranty it.  That one bad card u get stuck with basically erases all the discounts on the other cards

so no pos block rewards as of now?

No POS for about 2 years. Only POW and Masternode.

I see, when do master nodes rewards start? and how to set up?

Masternode awards have already started. There are three tiers. 1000 coin collateral, 3000 coin collateral and 5000 coin collateral. The instruction found here make it really easy to set up a masternode using a VPS.

https://github.com/XDNA-Core/XDNA-InstallMN

ahh thanks for the information

Anyway to fix the benchmarking issue. I cannot save any benchmarks to my profiles, and for some reason the benchmarks are showing different hashrates on the benchmark than when running. Maybe a way to upload the save to clipboard and use that if it doesnt want to save to the profile.
Which version of Awesome Miner are you running?

Can you describe the steps you use to reproduce the issue and more details of what happens? For example, is the hashrate showing up in the "Benchmark result" column? Is the column "Configured hashrate" updated when you clicked the "Save to profile"-button? But when looking at the actual profile later on, it's still the old values?

another issue with benchmarking, when , there is  no way to currently benchmard equihash 144  , even when you choose the miner and try to benchmark it the option to benchmark it doesnt show up in
the list of coins to benchmark
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 10000 miners on: August 11, 2018, 03:26:50 AM
something is definitely off with the miner, on my 1070 rig its mining x16r , but eth is currently more profitable

I set no power params , eth plus any orher algo would be even more profitable but it innists on mining x16r

seems way off to me , 3 hrs benchmarking for nothing

This is what is happening to me. X16R Raven is not profitable at all, actually a loss for mining. Remove it then it gets stuck on lyra2z, cant get it to switch when other algos are more profitable.

Hi @Marvell2, @Regulater,

What pools are you mining with, switch interval, any particular pool(s) your miners gets stuck?

most importantly, right click on miners and what does the "View Details" list says as opposed to what the miners are mining?

Im mining just on all the default pools that you configure when you add a miner

I had a full rig of 1070ti , and another mixed rig Il try setting up profiles for both

593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining blood bath. hell yeah on: August 10, 2018, 09:35:50 AM
The key to mining is that you have the rigs purchased and ready when market is low.

When market is sky high, there is no chance you will be able to get those GPUs and rigs at a reasonable price.

That can be a good lambo play. Ltc miners are like $200 a pop. Buy a whole bunch of those. Ltc asics have hit the peak efficiency of current tech so I don't expect a big leap anytime soon.

Just buy and hold them. Don't mine till market recovers 6 months later.

Bitmain capitulation. They got a lot of bills to pay. They expanded at wrong time and dumping asics at uncomfortable low prices for tbem

hope they go bankrupt

how do i change the temp limit using the miner ? the miner keeps throtting off some cards at 81 degerres,  EBWF ZEC miner that is, normally i would set the temp threshold in the
batch file but i dont see that in aweseome miner

Also I cant get the miner to benchmark x16, even when i choose z-enemy which i know works on my rigs

instant crash on a mixed rig of 470, 570 and 580

That doesn't sound good ;-)

Could you maybe run the miner with -debug and pb me the log?

We'll try and replicate and fix the issue.

Thnx!

yeah sure ill do that tonight

How else were bitmain and innosilicon supposed to test their product?

"In total, 550 blocks were mined in secret during the 2 months previous to the Antminer A3 announcement, representing around 85 million Siacoins in block rewards. According to CoinMarketCap, the value of Siacoin oscillated during November and January on the range of 0.5 and 11 USD cents. Interestingly, the maximal historic value of SC was reached on January 6th, 11 days before the Bitmain announcement. Depending on the moment they sold their “warchests”, they could have obtained something between $0.4 and $9 million from the secret mining operation. According to some estimations, the development of the A3 costed Bitmain $10 million. If they planned the trades carefully, this means they could have recovered the whole cost of the ASIC development just by secret mining during those 2 months."

= "testing"... LOL

You do like jokes, don't you? Smiley

"This, of course, on top of the $74 million in sales profit just from the first 2 batches ($2300 per unit and 33,000 units as we explained above)."

I invite you to look at the charts again.  Here is the hashrate graph... notice that hashrate was negligible before ASICs were introduced.  Then notice the hashrate after ASICs.  If Bitmain were mining with thousands of ASICs before the official announcement, you would see it in the graph.  The bursts before the announcement were tests.  How else were bitmain and innosilicon supposed to test their product?

Now, here is the difficulty charts again... notice the very small increase in difficulty before the official release of ASICs.  Again this is indicative of testing.  Look at the difficulty after ASICs... again... if Bitmain were mining with thousands of ASICs before the official announcement, you would see it in the graph.

The amount of money mined during testing is irrelevant, because the ASICs would dominate during these bursts.

I personally believe that Bitmain and all other major manufacturers along with the "secret" groups of course mine in private. I believe Bitmain has partaken in this increasingly less or not at all at this point, for multiple reasons including the fact that the vast majority of earnings have been sucked up already . . what is the point of them secret mining now? They are under a bigger magnifying glass than ever and the profits are absolute shit lol

the chart referenced above, clearly shows that if you're looking to point out secret mining, SIA is not the crypto to do it with
^
This

I guarantee if we were still in an ultra bull market they would still be mining heavily, like he said profits are shit now , they already killed cooked and ate the golden goose.  U bitmain shills can have all the refurb Asics u want.

If profits come back on existing or new algos they will be back but for now thier moving on to more profitable enterprises aka ICO scams

599  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Solar array starting to look good. on: August 08, 2018, 06:48:58 AM
powerwalls should be powered with excess solar energy, its probably cheaper to get up to 30kw solar array
using micro inverters rather than a single inverter to squuze more power from the panels that are shaded by clouds

still how can two powerwalls power much equipment?  from what i hear they hold enough each to power a home more normal residential use? mining is a constant draw and would drain the walls within a few hours
