61  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Need Advice for Cheap Swapping on ETH on: April 22, 2024, 03:06:57 PM
~
is there any other alternative which is cheaper, as i dont want to use any CEX
Make a transaction during the weekends.

I did made an experiment last week. I tried to make a transaction using the Ethereum network on weekdays and at that time, the gas fees is around 50$ minimum. Obviously, I rejected the transaction. I did try again during the weekends (I think it was last Sunday) and the gas fees at that time is way lesser - around 12$-13$. If you're an average investor, you will find it expensive still. I still find it expensive even though it's pretty low already compared to what it was during weekdays.

I don't know if this is always the case but that's what I saw last week (correct me if I'm wrong with my experiment Smiley). Transaction fees are way lesser during weekend, and TBH I don't know the reason for it. Bots maybe is a factor towards this one but overall, transaction fees on ETH network are very expensive. I really thought that the Dencun upgrade will at least lessen the gas fees of Ethereum to a reasonable price. It turns out that the most affected ones by the upgrade are the ETH L2 blockchains like Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, etc.

My advice? Use other chains.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Worldcoin? on: April 22, 2024, 01:48:48 PM
I think next rally would be AI centered. Who knows maybe sam altman tweets and it pumps. Thats my hope.
Total supply? 10,000,000,000
Circulating supply? 191,797,532

Isn't it a bit suspicious already? Also based on one Coindesk article:
Quote
All 7.5 billion WLD, which will go to the community was minted before the launch, and the foundation aims to allocate 6 billion of those to users, but they will be unlocked over 15 years, said a Worldcoin representative. However, none of the tokens allocated to users are locked up, said the representative. Not all 2.5 billion WLD for insiders has been allocated.

7.5 Billion WLD will be available over 15 years? I don't want to be pessimistic about the project, but that's a long time TBH. They only got hyped because of what they did with different communities around the world. Getting their personal information in exchange for some WLD tokens. They focused on poor people in poor countries so that it will be a successful one. They focused on people who aren't even investing at all. They used the people's lack of knowledge in investing to their advantage. How? They get the personal information of different people and in exchange, they will give them WLD tokens.

As for me, I would rather stay away from this project. I will not hold this coin for the long term. AI centered? They're just using the hype again around AI and when it's over, they will jump on what's hyped again.
63  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be confused, bitcoin halving doesn't translate into bitcoin All time high on: April 22, 2024, 01:23:56 PM

My advice
Don't buy bitcoin because you assume that bitcoin price will skyrocket after bitcoin halving, that is a wrong mentality that could lead to depressing results if that failed to happen.
Basing on the history of Bitcoin's price after the halving event, it's price has increased or at least doubled.

I don't know what's your point with your advice but if you will look at the price history of Bitcoin in the past halving events, the price of it increases. I mean it isn't instant, but in 12-18 months, it has increased significantly. I don't know why you are advising it to newbies where in fact, they can just buy Bitcoin, and just sell at the peak of the bull market. History shows that the bull market is happening months after the halving event.

It might be a wrong mentality but TBH, it works especially for those who don't want to hold Bitcoin for a very long time. Depressing results? Nah, I don't think so as long as you don't buy at the peak or near it's peak. What's more depressing is that, you bought at the bottom and you decided not to sell it at the peak for some stupid reasons (like what I did on 2021 Cheesy).
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you see NFTs heading in the future? on: April 22, 2024, 01:13:05 PM
NFT has come a long way, some think NFTs are dead, but again some think NFTs is heading in a way that keeps them alive, I feel that second one is the most reasonable thing.
~
I think there's a market for selling photoshopped art or handmade arts, potentially at high prices. There will always be someone who appreciates your work. I do believe that NFTs aren't done yet – what are your thoughts?
Creating photoshopped art right now is very easy hence, the value of these will almost worthless and with the addition of AI, creating an art has never been easier.
I mean just a phrase of what you want to generate and *poof*, images will come out. If you're good at describing the picture you want, the better the outcome is. Save the picture, and sell it on Opensea. Just imagine how many people can do that? Everybody can do that and this is the reason why NFT's especially those JPEGs and JPGs will not have a significant value in the long run.

Based on my observation, I only see NFTs being used as a requirement for some airdrops for them to be eligible. You need to mint an NFT on their blockchain for a bit of money + fees, and that NFT will be used as a criteria for an investor to be eligible for an airdrop. Right now, that's the only use case that I'm seeing with these JPEGs and JPGs.

Overall, it's hard to predict where NFTs will be heading in the future. They might be sold for a lot or not because they don't have any value at all. No in between.
65  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 22, 2024, 12:59:25 PM
At the moment, Miami is playing against Boston without Butler and Rozier.
And that's it, Boston Celtics won against the Miami Heat.

We always like this match-up of these two rival teams and in the end, it's always the Miami Heat that's winning the series. But let's see if this is going to be the one that the Celtics will celebrate even if it's not yet the finals.

Let's see if Miami will bounce back on their game 2.
If the Heat will not have Butler and Rozier back on at least on Game 3, I'm afraid they might get swept by the Celtics.

Last season, the Heat was carried by Butler and of course it created a domino effect towards other Heat players. This time, their main player is out due to an injury hence, it affected the whole team. We've seen these 2 teams fought 3 times in the last 4 playoffs so they pretty much know the strengths and weaknesses of both teams already. It all comes down to how healthy your players are and this time, the Celtics have the upper hand. Like I said, if Butler will not play in Game 3, they have a high chance of being swept in the first round.

Well it's only Luka and Irving who scored for the Mavs, while the Clippers was in balance attack mode. But still early, this is just 1 game, and for sure Dallas will have to re-adjust involved other team mates. In this game only P. J. Washington was the other one who score double digit with 11 points.
Gafford got in foul trouble and played only 14 minutes, and I think that's the reason why Zubac really dominated the paint getting 20 points and 15 rebounds.

Playoff Experience is also a problem with the Mavericks. They might be one of the best teams post all-star game, but in the playoffs, most of their roster doesn't have any playoff experience whatsoever. I always believe that playoff experience is a big factor as well because of the decisions that they can do during the game. Well, you said it already that most of the offense comes from both Luka and Kyrie whereas the Clippers distributed the offense.

If there's a problem with the Clippers currently, it's Kawhi being out again when they needed him the most.

Great game 1 between the Pels and OKC, Pels never give up in the 4th quarter to even take a lead. But they failed to execute in the last 2 possessions. Nance was block by Holmgren and then CJ unable to make a 3 for win or a 2 for OT.
They almost lost to an 8th seeded team. This is where playoff experience comes to play.
We know that the Thunder are very inexperienced when it comes to playoffs. Both the players and the coach doesn't have that much experience compared to the Pelicans that has been in the playoffs for the past 2 years I think. Last minute decisions can change the game. If only Ingram and McCollum are more efficient in this game, they might steal Game 1 on the road TBH.

Re: It's better to invest now than to regret it in a hospital bed.
Yes I'm already doing it. Tongue Tell this to those who aren't investing yet or those who are hesitant to invest because they don't have the knowledge or they are afraid to lose their money.

Invest, invest, and invest. Invest into different asset classes and at the same time, invest in your life. How? Emergency funds. Insurance? Sure, but I will not recommend it to others because I myself don't even have one. I'm not saying that insurance is a bad thing. It's just that, I prefer putting it on emergency funds and invest it into some liquid assets if possible. Investing right now is a need already in our lives. I mean if we really need to be comfortable when we get old, having an investment will help you. Just imagine you at your 20's, is holding some stocks that gives dividend income yearly, and as you grow older, you are still ading dividend stocks. When you're hold, you are still earning passive income thru dividends, and you are earning it while you are sitting on your couch watching Netflix. Power of dividend investing. Smiley

As much as I'm investing, of course I'm always aware of my health that's why I always prioritize both investing and emergency funds because we don't know what can happen to us in the future. Invest, but at the same time, take care of our health and our lives.

Careful newbies and careful all
This is where a thing called "knowledge" will be very helpful.
As they say. "Knowledge is power" so your knowledge will help you solve these type of problems.

My suggestion is that, don't use any wallet that you aren't familiar with. I mean there are some wallets out there that are user-friendly, and there are some that might be a bit complex for some, but if you have a bit of knowledge about the basics of wallets, you will learn how to use it very easily. In my time that I'm involved with cryptocurrency, I didn't try to ask for help thru PM with other people regarding my problem when it comes to wallets, or transactions etc. It's because you can make a quick google search on how to solve it, and sometimes, just asking for their customer support will solve your problem (if it's a transaction problem). Nevertheless, this is still a good advice to all of the newbies out there because they're the most prone to scams since they don't have any knowledge whatsoever.

Like what I'm always saying, always be vigilant especially now that we are almost entering the bull market already. Scammers, and those who want to take your assets are always there waiting for the perfect time. Smiley
68  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is not a lifetime job. on: April 21, 2024, 03:39:28 PM
1. It is quite stressful - old traders will soon give up due to mental health problems
 2. It is not enjoyable anymore - nobody will stay long in a job that they no longer find themselves comfortable with especially if you are not earning well.
Most of the time we feel this during bear season.
 3. Trust issue due to Scam growth - traders never find it safe to use exchanges, even big exchanges.
1. Trading is really a stressful thing, but for professional traders out there, I think that they can overcome stress. I mean if they want to treat trading as their fulltime job, they will really encounter stress and it's inevitable. At the end of the day, every job is "STRESSFUL" in different ways. It's only up to the person on how they will overcome it.
2. If you're not earning then yes it will not be enjoyable, but for those who are earning lots of dollars on a daily basis, I don't think that they will feel that way. Maybe they will feel boredom because they are doing it on a daily basis continuously. With regards to the traders not earning, of course they will not treat it as a job if they aren't earning. Cheesy
3. Trust issues? Trust with the exchange because of the fact that every exchange can have the same faith as FTX that's what you're saying? It might be, but take note that there are still many people out there who still wants to store huge money on exchanges for various reasons.

Quote
Re: Trading is not a lifetime job.
If you're earning more than losing more then it can be. A quick Google search of the definition of a job will give you this: "a task or piece of work, especially one that is paid:".
Piece of work = trading itself. One that is paid = they are being paid through the profits that they're getting.

I was juts scrolling through Binance new and I saw an airdrop from Pepe coin worth over 1 million dollar and I clicked on it to see how I can participate in this amazing airdrop as I read through i saw that this airdrop to participate in it I needed to send them a tip and I was wondering if Binance now promotes scam or if this is ledgit, does anyone have experience with this or should i bail.
Probably you've seen this on a post that's below the home page of the app. I mean if you scroll down further more, you will see some posts coming from different people. It's like Facebook where you can make a post there but now it's being done inside an exchange.

As for the "airdrop" that you saw, I'm thinking that it's a scam that you can easily avoid with. I mean why will you give money to somebody that you isn't sure if they will really airdrop the tokens. As for Binance tolerating this, they aren't promoting it because they can't control what others are doing... or they can since it's their exchange. Whatever the reason is, scammers will do everything to attract newbie investors. Just avoid this OP.

One thing more is that, it isn't amazing at all especially if you will give a "TIP" to them. Cheesy
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's in For Altcoins after the Halving? on: April 21, 2024, 03:01:35 PM
Do you think the rally of altcoins will start now or we should continue with our trades like nothing happened?
The rally of altcoins will only start when Bitcoin's price goes up.
You said it already that altcoins move the same as Bitcoin is.

If you're a trader, just continue trading. Momentum might've gone down but in the long run, it will just go up like what happens. I read an article a few hours ago and it was said there that based on history, 12 to 18 months after the Bitcoin halving event is the time where everything rallies and that includes both Bitcoin and altcoins. I guess if you're a trader, just focus on what you're doing. If you're a futures trader, maybe put more long positions than short to prevent getting liquidated because over time, price of Bitcoin will just go up.

Overall, the rally of altcoins will start when Bitcoins starts to rally. We know that altcoins move the same as Bitcoin is. The only difference is the percentage, but the movement is the same.
71  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why has bitcoin prices not increased just after halving ? on: April 20, 2024, 11:16:12 PM
Bitcoin mining fees has increased considerably today after halving but there are no effect on bitcoin prices. I suggested some friends to invest before and they are blaming me for the suggestion. I told them to wait for final effect as it can take some days for effect on prices but they are impatient.
Take note that the effect of the halving will not take effect "IMMEDIATELY". It will take some time before we will experience the effect of it.

I've seen the Bitcoin halving event last 2020 and I'm pretty sure most here also experienced the the 2016 and even the 2012. What I saw at that time is that, Bitcoin's price remained stagnant after the event. There's no immediate effect of it towards the price of Bitcoin. They're impatient? It's not your fault anymore if they're impatient. Tell to them not to invest anymore. Investing is a game of patience. Those who are patient enough to wait are the ones that will earn the most profit here. If they're impatient then tell to them not to invest anymore and just use their money in other things.

This is also one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to share anything related to cryptocurrency to other people.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying more of the Dip on: April 19, 2024, 05:02:35 PM
~
what are your thoughts on this Anon ?
Do you think only El Salvador is the one who's taking advantage of this dip?
There are some average investors out there who is also buying small amounts of Bitcoin aside from them. I'm also buying Bitcoins for the upcoming bull run (if it happens Cheesy).

I always say this that every dip = opportunity for us to buy Bitcoin and other altcoins at a much lower price. Instead of joining those newbie investors at buying at the top, why not be patient and just wait for a dip then buy during the dip. I can't think of any other reason why people are still buying at the top aside from the fact that they're getting FOMOed. Well, the halving event is just hours away and trust me, the event will happen like nothing happened. Probably many will talk about it in this forum and in Altcointalk but price wise, there's no immediate effect on it's price.

Bitcoin's price will remain as usual, and the only time that we will experience the effect of the halving is maybe a few months to a year after the event.
73  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 19, 2024, 04:31:31 PM
Team USA has released their roster for the upcoming 2024 Olympics.

LeBron James
Stephen Curry
Kevin Durant
Joel Embiid
Devin Booker
Jayson Tatum
Anthony Davis
Tyrese Haliburton
Anthony Edwards
Jrue Holiday
Bam Adebayo
Kawhi Leonard

Who do you think should have been there?

Brunson maybe for Kawhi but I'm thinking, they will be lacking forwards if they will remove Kawhi that's why they gave the final spot to him.

TBH, I can't think of any US players that can replace any of those chosen because that's pretty stacked up already. The starting 5 is already good. My projected starting 5 would be James, Curry, Durant, Embiid and Edwards. Their second 5 is pretty stacked up as well. I don't think that other countries will defeat this roster of the US anymore. They're like "It's our turn already. It's been many years since we won our last gold." I don't think that any country can defeat this "Revenge" team as they call. Maybe the countries that can come close are Serbia, Canada, Lithuania, and France.

Just to add. When they won their last gold medal, the average gap between the US and their opponent in terms of points is around 30 PPG. I'm not saying that it will happen again, but there's a chance that this US team will defeat other countries with a gap of at least 10 PPG. That's how pretty stack this team are. I just hope that other countries are prepared for this one.
74  Economy / Economics / Re: Play to earn model vs move to earn model. on: April 19, 2024, 04:13:28 PM
~
Can the 'move to earn model' offered by a company like Sweatcoin, of whom are willing to pay tokens to users who have either sweated using the app while running or swimming, be a micro or macro solution to economic problems, if adopted on a large scale?

Or would this 'move to earn model' just follow its hype and fade into existence leaving cryptocurrencies to be the only better innovation that is much more helpful to the economy?

Your thoughts are welcomed!

If Play 2 Earn games changed the lives of a few people, move to earn doesn't.

TBH, the move to earn model has goods and bads depending on how you will look at it. If you think that the app will give you money just by exercising and don't focus on the amount of money that you will get, it might change your way of thinking and because of that, you might be forced to make some exercises and that's good for our health. Move to earn is a double reward for us. You will make your health better through exercising and you will earn as well. On the other hand though, the earnings isn't that high that's why if somebody will use these move to earn apps or whatever they're using, don't focus on the money that you can get or it will just make you disappoint.

Move to earn model will not solve any problems at all. The amount of money that you're getting isn't even enough to pay your bills. Cheesy If you're focusing about the earning aspect, forget about it. Maybe it might make your health better because you will be forced to exercise for the sake of a "SMALL" amount of money, but that's all. Solution to economic problems? I don't see it happening TBH. The model will just vanish or at least will be unpopular.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving countdown on: April 18, 2024, 04:48:56 AM
Hello everyone, talking about this Bull run that we all have been anticipating along time ago is finally coming to our door steps and I guess we're all excited about it and want to make it all out this time around.
Who's for sighting this like I do that this Bitcoin halving will birth so many into wealth and looking at the market I think Bitcoin has gown down which is favourable to various sectors.
I don't want to spoil everybody here because all of us are expecting for the bull run to happen at least this year until next year, but there's a question that's always on the back of my mind. "What if it will not happen this year? Or what if it might not happen at all? What will be the effect of it?"

I know that the chances for it to happen is very low but still, it can happen. Anyway, like what most investors are, I'm also excited (but not as excited as other investors) on the bull run because that's the time where most of us will sell our Bitcoins that we held for a very long time. Bitcoin halving usually is the start of the bull run. It's not the halving event that will give profit to most investors, but it will be the catalyst for the bull run.

Purchasing coins in preparation for the bull run is what most are doing currently and because of that, I would congratulate you for the profits that you will get. Cheesy Just be patient and make selling targets.

Ok, I will assume that the "BOY" you are saying on this thread is you because you will not create a thread like this out of nowhere, right?
Hmm, build your wealth, have emergency funds, continue investing, be as frugal as possible, and of course, be as humble as possible.

The first 4 things that I've said can easily be done with the help of your money especially the building your wealth part because you already said that you are receiving lots of money. The one thing that's hard to do is the final one. I'm not saying all of them, but most of them forgets the humility when they are rich or at least receiving lots of money.

Many shared their own advice to you OP. Now it's up to you to do it all or at least some of them. Good Luck. Smiley
77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 18, 2024, 03:14:23 AM
The NBA has just announced a lifetime ban for player Jontay Porter from the Toronto Raptors for violating the league’s gaming rules. Jontay was apparently quite the gambler and while he claimed he never bet on his own games, the league still decided there was enough gambling to ban him forever. Tough break…
He's like Tim Donaghy but the player version. Cheesy
Anyway, what's ironic is that they are partnered with other gambling companies like DraftKings, but don't allow players to bet on games. I guess that's because it might affect the outcome of the game, and the performance of players. For me, giving him a lifetime ban serves right. Is he the first player who got banned because of gambling-related activities??

The Lakers took the 7th place, fulfilling the expectations of the majority. LeBron went 23-9-9. D-Lo's influence is undeniable. The Lakers' narrow rotation was enough for the play-in, but they don't have much chance in the play-offs. Although Zion scored 40, the Pelicans lost because Ingram and McCollum played very badly. Fortunately they have one more chance. They need to use it well against the Kings.
If only Zion played all throughout the game, they will win on that one that's for sure.
I mean he's having his one of his best performances, and that's also his first playoff game. When they needed him the most, that's when the body didn't cooperate with him and got injured unfortunately. What's worse is that the other 2 key players Ingram and McCollum are playing like they came from G-league. Very disappointing, but they still have a chance against the Kings.

~
A sweep is not impossible but I could see Lakers maybe getting a win there too, I am not entirely sure if Lakers even believes they could win, let alone others and I believe that Denver Nuggets are a team that would be hard to beat by anyone this season, with no injuries and Jokic playing like an MVP still, they are a great team and Lakers will need to win against them four times, which I think is not possible at all.
Are you a Laker fan if I can ask? Because I don't see them winning against the Nuggets. Lucky if they win one.
They got swept when they faced off last playoffs. This regular season, the Nuggets swept the series as well 4-0 so overall, the Nuggets are 8-0 against the Lakers. With injuries hindering LBJ and AD's performance and with how good the Nuggets are, I will be surprised if they will win at least 1 game or even 2 against the defending champions "UNLESS" they will play them as 8 Vs. 5 and not 5 Vs. 5. You know what I mean. Cheesy

Herro's heroics in the final quarter isn't enough and the Heat have put themselves in a tougher position once again. I think they will still beat the winner of the Hawks vs Bulls game so it's looking like another Heat - Celtics match up in the playoffs. They would have a higher chance of advancing if they face the Knicks in the first round.
Heat - Celtics in the first round. Cheesy I would love to see the Celtics getting their revenge against a team who almost swept them last playoffs.
I don't see either the Bulls or the Hawks defeating the Heat. They almost won against the Sixers that has Embiid and Maxey. If only they didn't blow out that 13-point lead.

I can't think of anything anymore because TBH, joining into multiple airdrops for me is a bit overwhelming especially if you are trying to update yourself to lots and lots of projects that has a potential to airdrop their tokens. Recommendations? I can't think of any, but maybe those projects that has a high valuation has a high chance to launch an airdrop to the community. Take note the word "CHANCE" because there are some projects that are what I call "heartless" and will not airdrop their tokens despite having a large community behind it and letting them use their testnet,

zkSync has been on the speculations for a long time, and many projects have been created under it already but until now, we don't have any confirmation to the team yet. Many said that it will be this year, but it's better if it's the team themselves that will say it. Unfortunately, I didn't participate on this one because I don't have spare money, so I choose to participate in other airdrops that requires lower amount of money to be eligible.

Well, it's your fault that you didn't risk it, and now you are asking us if what will be the next one? What are we? Crystal balls who know which coin will pump up like what happened to WIF? Cheesy

I'm not angry on that, but what I will say is that you said that risky investment is fun, right? Why not pick for yourself for additional fun? I mean it adds to the excitement that you will be the one picking on which meme coin will be the next WIF. If you lose, it's ok at least you had fun, right? Unfortunately, we can't say any an exact meme coin that will pump up in price, but there are some hints that might help you.

Checked their last 3 games.

 134 - 133 - kings winner
124 - 123 - kings winner
 102 - 101 - warriors winner.

isn't it exciting to watch? The game was decided by 1 point only.
The match-up between the 9th-10th seed is way exciting than the 7th-8th seed. Cheesy
The series between these 2 teams is tied at 2 a piece.

The only difference now is the availability of players. Right now, GPII is out on the Warriors due to injury which for me isn't that significant though he's a good defender, but comparing it to the Kings that has no Huerter, and Monk coming into this elimination game is pretty huge. I mean with them out, you are removing players who are averaging more than 25+ PPG combined. Monk as we know is a big difference for the team in some of their games as their 6th man. I'm not saying that the Kings already lost the battle, but they need somebody to step up on offense to win against the Warriors who already defeated them in a 7-game series last season.

I always believe that injuries are big factor when it comes to the playoffs so with this 9th-10th game, I believe that the Warriors will won and will face the Lakers in the 8th seed battle. Smiley
