Lakers gave us a nice new year gift last night.  I mean especially Lebron did it. Because in the game they completely destroyed Portland by 139-106, Lebron showed a superb performance with 43 points and 14 rebounds. Westbrook got a 50% field goal success but he still didn't score many points. He still managed to make a triple-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. And Lillard's poor performance played an important role in this loss also. He was able to score only 18 points. He was performing double this performance in his previous recent games. |

The first half of the regular season has ended. On the week the leader lost points, Club Brugge couldn't take advantage of it. Interestingly, they had a big difficulty against Cercle Brugge and even lost the match by 2-0. And the most profitable team of the week were definitely Anderlecht. Because they played an away match vs Beerschot and demolished them by a whopping 7-0 score. This was really huge and I think that they will continue to perform like this for some time even if the matches don't end by an absurd score all the time.

I personally don't believe Napoli will win in this match, as I said before about their head to head record when they face off, they very rarely get full points for away teams. With that note, I think it's pretty clear on paper Juventus will win and even if Napoli can put up a fight and get the points it will only be a draw by one point. We have the same opinion about Juventus' not losing to Napoli in this match. But in this kind of matches, we really don't know what happens for sure. Inter are a quite unlucky team as they have a draw against Liverpool in last 16 stage. Liverpool are the favourite side by far in my opinion. Their great performance is not only seen in the EPL but also here. They dominated their group and won all of their matches. And their opponents weren't very easy ones too. Inter on the other hand didn't start well but started improving their effort later. And they are the dominator of the Serie A currently. Maybe they can resist Liverpool in Giuseppe Meazza and get a draw at least. But Liverpool would finish the job in Anfield.

Sporting managed to satisfy the expectations last night by defeating Portimonense in a home match by 3-2. Paulinho did a splendid job by making a hat-trick and having a big role in this important win. It was important because there is a huge match tonight. Porto have a home match against Benfica. Porto have been the dominant side in their home matches against Benfica lately. I don't think that they will lose this match also. But a probable tie would create a nice advantage for Sporting in the standings.

Arsenal have been continuing to impress me on the weeks we have left behind. They have just magically changed everything about them. I have no doubt that everyone here remembers how terrible start they made to this season. They were like losing every single match of theirs by big goal margins. Arteta was on the brink of getting sacked. But suddenly, something started changing about them. And they have arisen with the same manager. And thanks to their current winning streak of four matches, they have got the 4th position in the standings. Tottenham are right behind them by a 6-point gap maybe but they have three missing matches now. But this still doesn't change the fact that Arsenal are having a very satisfying season for their supporters also.
I also point this, but I'm not sure they will continue to the next week. so far in the 5 last games, Arsenal has not fought versus a strong team yet, and begin next week they will meet a strong team like Manchester City in the premier league and Liverpool in the FA cup. as we can see, they performed well be testing, if they can hold the win that possible can get at least 1 title. Arsenal have a really good history when it comes to the FA Cup. Recently, they won the title four times. Considering their huge effort in this season, it would be really surprising not to see them getting very close to a title at least. They don't have a chance for the Premier League title if we look at it realistically. But for the EFL Cup and the FA Cup, I believe that they have a good chance. By the way, they are in the semi-final of the EFL Cup and their opponent is Liverpool. But if they get past them also, I think Arsenal can really make it to the title also. |

Erling Haaland to extend his contract with Dortmund? I think that there is no way this is happening. If Haaland is even a little bit smart, he wouldn't even think about it much. His current contract is going to expire on June 2024. As really big teams are going to be making a huge effort to sign him, I don't think that Haaland would turn down all of them. Unfortunately, Chelsea really messed things up for themselves in the last moments of the match. In the first minute of the stoppage time, they conceded a header goal by Welbeck and couldn't prevent a 1-1 draw at the end. Chelsea are having a big problem on scoring more than one goal. I don't know why but we saw it in this match clearly. If they were able to make it 2-0, I wouldn't give any chance for Brighton to steal any point. But a 1-0 score is always dangerous for every team.
If Manchester City manage to beat Brentford (they are still leading by 1-0), they will have a 8-point gap with Chelsea and 9-point gap with Liverpool. This would be a huge advantage for Manchester City already now.

I think that the Rockets - Lakers game last night was a really superb one. Honestly, I wasn't expecting Rockets to compete with Lakers this much hard. Lakers still won by 132-123 but thanks to Rockets also, we watched a high-scoring game. Lebron and Westbrook had a really important role in this nice victory here. They both made triple-doubles. Lebron (32 pts, 11 reb, 11 ast) and Westbrook (24 pts, 12 reb, 10 ast) did a great work in the absence of Davis. But Westbrook is a really inconsistent player and he should improve his game definitely.

A very hard match is on the line for Atletico Madrid this time. They are going to be hosting Rayo Vallecano in Wanda Metropolitano on this Sunday. I'm putting it in this way because Vallecano is a really tough opponent for them and actually for every team in the league now. They are having their best season in the La Liga for sure. Maybe they are going to play away here but they are still strong enough to benefit from Atletico Madrid's current poor condition. What a poor performance by Manchester United players! I had big hopes about them for this match honestly. Because the most obvious thing was that Newcastle would struggle against them a lot. But after the match started, they started making people astonished also. Because they were doing their job in a great way that is not letting Manchester United have so many goal chances. Newcastle were even close to get a win if their absolute goal chance in the last minutes wasn't prevented by the goal post. This is definitely not the Manchester United that I want to see on the remaining weeks of the league.

Real Madrid really owe Carlo Ancelotti too much in this season. Because they have been having a perfect season so far not only in the La Liga but also in the Champions League.
