381  Local / Discutii Servicii / Re: Kraken, Bitstamp exchange via Revolut & Mr. Tango on: June 21, 2018, 07:58:46 AM

382  Other / Meta / Has the Merit faucet dried up? Solutions? on: June 20, 2018, 03:04:36 PM
Now... hold on... I know what what you guys think: "Look! Yet another a$$hole complaining about the merit system". Just read the post below before posting.

Let me tell you a few things about myself:

Before joining this forum, I have been reading the broads here for about a year on everything Bitcoin & Altcoin related, Exchanges, Trading, what to invest in and what not etc.
As you can see, I have joined at the end of Oct 2017 and by the time the Merit system was implemented, I was a Jr. Member thus 0 Merit by default.
Since then, I have managed to get approximately 0.5-1 merit per day and managed to rank to Full Member before having the necessary activity.
I even had my own FREE post review service thread: vlad230's post review service - Jr. Member and up where I helped people increase the quality of their posts (across 10 pages) and have seen a big difference on the post quality that people had before the Merit System was implemented so, this system has definitely helped to improve the forum.

I have noticed that It's been about a month since I have not received any merit although my posting habits have not changed, I'm mainly interested in Mining, Bitcoin, Altcoins, Trading, helping people with whatever I can etc. and I do have a few threads that I manage and try to create a good resource especially for miners on this forum:

I have noticed however that the majority of merit is only sent out in some particular boards (Meta, Reputation etc.) or for stuff that is not really Bitcoin & Altcoin related like hundreds of merit statistics.
I am not really interested in being a blood hound for scammers, rule/merit abusers (although I appreciate the people who do it) and what not, nor am I interested in merit statistics but does that mean I don't get to rank up on this forum?

On the other hand, I see there is a lack of merit sent out in the Mining, Altcoin, Economics or Local (Romanian - no merit sources here BTW) boards where people have real issues that need to be sorted out. Isn't this the purpose of the community?
I realized some of the boards I mentioned have become spam hang-outs for a lot of people (and this may get your post buried instantly, thus limiting the people who can see it) but for some that are really interested in these topics is really hard to go on.

Maybe a solution for this issue would be to:
  • select a few merit sources that are interested in these topics and regularly posts there for a better distribution of merits
  • have something like a "Rank-a-Thon" (similar to Hackathon  Grin ) where a list of users would be selected and the merit sources would go to their posts and merit whatever they find good
UPDATE: I think a good start to creating the lists of users that the merit sources would review would be people whom already got the activity but are missing the merits

What do you guys think?

383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoNight] CPU mining guide & coins that will get you a return on: June 20, 2018, 01:33:03 PM
If you mine a crypto currency with a hashrate  150 h/s, then it does not even pay for electricity costs Smiley
The whole idea of this thread is to mine coins that will eventually increase in price. It is stated in the first post (with red) that you will probably pay more for electricity than you get in coins if you try to sell them right away.
Please read the OP again.

These processors have a special TR4 socket. Motherboards for this socket cost $ 400-500. + the cost of a cooler is 40-50 dollars ( 180 W TDP  Smiley )

Therefore, to compare AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950Х and 1080ti for mining is unrealistic.
The comparison I have done is at the hash rate & price level for the two components not the connected devices that are required for them to run.

Since the 1080TI (~$1000) has a CryptoNight hash rate of about 830 h/s and an older & cheaper AMD Ryzen 1700X has 725 h/s (~$330) (like you said previously) then I think it's comparable and a good alternative. Not to mention that you can get the CPU anywhere and the GPU is harder to find in shops/online.

Nonetheless, let's keep this discussion on topic (CPU mining guide & coins) as there are endless threads about this.
384  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto being unregulated is a strength and an advantage on: June 20, 2018, 11:49:27 AM
You have some good points there but if crypto currencies aren't regulated then you would still have this blockade between exchanges & banks. Thus regulation would be the only way to go forward for crypto to mature.

Unless you are paid in crypto for the work you do, you are still tied to banks. Since banks/governments are afraid to loose control of the money, this blockade will continue.
385  Economy / Economics / Re: How to regulate crypto? on: June 20, 2018, 11:43:29 AM
I think that the only way for crypto currencies to able to be used as they were intended - to be currencies - would be to undergo a regulation process.

This way scam ICOs and other scam coin projects would not have a chance to succeed and the people would be protected thus, people would trust these alternative forms of payment like we ended up trusting plastic cards instead of banknotes.

The thing is crypto currencies are still at the beginning and we need to give them time to mature.
386  Economy / Economics / Re: When the government forbids cryptocurrency on: June 20, 2018, 11:37:57 AM
Yes, that's true, there is an anti-crypto "movement" taking place world wide because the governments/banks are afraid they could loose control of the money.

There will always be a way to go around it. For example there are 3rd parties that can set themselves in between the banks and the exchanges and still allow you to be able to use your funds.

387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoNight] Forked coins, ASIC resistance and current algorithms on: June 20, 2018, 11:28:53 AM
MoneroV - XMV - ASIC Resistant - CN-v7 - This is a fork of XMR - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2947912.0
Yes, you are correct, MoneroV has forked on April 16th and switched to CryptoNight V7. Added to the list. Here's the link to that announcement: https://monerov.org/fork-date-approaching-updates/

BBS is a CryptoNight V7 coin as they state on their official ANN thread on BCT. Added to the list.

Niobio - NBR - ASIC Resistant - CN-heavy - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2912866.0
NBR is indeed ASIC resistant as state on their ANN thread on BCT & official website: https://niobiocash.org/en/. NBR is using the CryptoNight Heavy algorithm. Added to the list.
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoNight] CPU mining guide & coins that will get you a return on: June 20, 2018, 08:12:09 AM
For example

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x ( 800-1000 $)   1525 H/s
AMD Ryzen 1700X   ( 330 $)   725 H/s

is it profitable to make such investments in mining? I think not.
If there is a given processor, you can receive 15-20 dollars of additional income per month. And to buy this processor for the mining is unreasonable.

It's easier to look for cheap old server boards with 2 processors and mine on it.
Yes, I agree, hence the 150 h/s hashing rate I'm promoting here as an average default value for average CPUs, but I wasn't sure what is he looking for.

Some people prefer to switch to CPU mining rather than GPU mining since GPUs were/are hard to find on the market.
If you compare the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x with a 1080ti then the hash rates are kind of the same, the price as well if you're lucky but normally it exceeds that amount.

The issue is you can't buy a 1080ti since it's always out of stock Smiley Not to mention you can use that CPU for other stuff as well.
389  Local / Discutii Servicii / Re: Kraken, Bitstamp exchange via Revolut & Mr. Tango on: June 20, 2018, 07:57:54 AM
Nu stiu ce sa zic. Pare sa fie in functie de factori personali top up limit-ul.

390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Pool: http://cryptopool.at/site/mining on: June 19, 2018, 02:54:30 PM
I think you should move your thread to the pools sub-forum here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=199.0

Your pool looks nice and you will get a better response in the other forum. It will be buried fast here, unfortunately.
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Wich is the algorithm more profitable? on: June 19, 2018, 02:52:45 PM
I think profitability is not really linked to the algorithm the coin is on.

It's more about what the coin stands for. The algorithm is just the engineering behind it and the way everything works.

You should definitely do you own research first but before investing I would recommend starting to mine with your CPU to better understand what's it all about. I see a lot of people just throwing money into mining with too few details about it.

You can take a look at my CPU mining thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2891680.0

Post there if you have any questions.
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: LOKI MINING CPU -SETUP (Part2) on: June 19, 2018, 02:46:58 PM
I'm running a detailed CPU mining thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2891680.0

I've also included LOKI a while ago and you can definitely mine for more CryptoNight coins with this setup.

Check it out and post if you have issues Smiley
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Agilmine - Your REAL altcoin FPGA miner on: June 19, 2018, 02:44:17 PM
It's nice to see that this FPGA field has started to be competitive and a lot of people is starting to work on FPGA boards Smiley

Can you give us an update on predicted/tested hashing speeds, price & power consumption?

Any details on it would be greatly appreciated.
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Abandoned? on: June 19, 2018, 02:33:47 PM
I think that there's a lack of exposure for crypto currencies in general compared to what it used to be in 2017 when the large price increases happened.

I remember at that point that a lot of people was creating sponsored ads (accompanied with luxury lifestyle photos of course) telling people they will send the "key" to their success in investing in crypto currencies if they commented on their sponsored ad, thus increase the exposure  Grin
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AnuCoin - An Universal Coin is especialy for trader's and New startup's. on: June 19, 2018, 02:27:30 PM
@OP you can move this thread to the announcements sub-forum located here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0

Will you promote this coin through signature campaigns here on BitCoinTalk.org?

The new coin looks interesting, I wish you all the best Smiley
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What platforms do you guys use to discuss/promote cryptocurrency? on: June 19, 2018, 02:16:21 PM
I think you should also use BitCoinTalk to promote crypto currency. As you probably know, this is the largest and oldest forum about crypto currency on the web.
You can use your signature to promote stuff here but I see you know that already.

Also, all the important things regarding Bitcoin already happened here - first BTC sale, the pizza sale for BTC etc.

Youtube is also a good bet as a lot of people follow channels regarding crypto but I would also create a page on FB. Remember, FB is the largest social media website on the web and a lot of people is online everyday.
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoNight] CPU mining guide & coins that will get you a return on: June 19, 2018, 01:58:55 PM
Which CPU?
I think I missed your reply to the thread.  Sad

I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly. If you're trying to find out which CPU would be best then the Ryzen family of processors from AMD is the best for mining at the moment.
They are also releasing a new CPU which will be by far the the best one for mining: https://www.techradar.com/news/amd-ryzen-threadripper-2nd-generation

Am adugat si un pool pt ea: bloc-mining.us

Spor la minat Wink
399  Local / Discutii Servicii / Re: Kraken, Bitstamp exchange via Revolut & Mr. Tango on: June 18, 2018, 09:20:47 AM
Depinde ce suma si cat timp vrea sa stea in fiat.

https://www.revolut.com/ro/help/profile/i-want-to-increase-my-top-up-limit?lang=en

Sau ai putea sa treci pe un cont premium la ei, din cate vad aici ai nelimitat top-up pt transferuri SEPA in EURO.

It's good to see there are a lot of great news related to IOST. Keep up the good work! Smiley

On another note, do you have any news regarding the sigature campaign running here on BCT? It's been 3 weeks without payment and everyone is concerned about what is going on with MadZ since he did not even login for some time now. More details here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3170747.0
