541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are pools skimming hashrates / earnings? on: May 09, 2018, 09:13:15 PM
You're not doing anything wrong, it's the same for all of us Smiley

I wouldn't trust any pools that claim they have a 0% fee, I mean would you do anything for free? Some of them steal a percentage of your good shares.

Some other things that you need to be aware of are:
+most online calculators are a bit off
+you need to take into account that you're not using a fixed difficulty so, a variation in hash rate will occur
+block effort is also variable
542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 09, 2018, 08:52:09 PM
....
Thanks a lot for the clarification. This looks good but we would still need a more trustworthy way to buy it Smiley

Since it's using only 10W of power to run, have you though of powering it with a standard laptop charger? Most laptop chargers can provide about 65-90W of power @19.5V for it so you could hook up 6-9 FPGAs and you wouldn't need to worry about cooling for the PSU, noise or deal with other issues like increased storage space.

Although this depends entirely on what kind of voltage your FPGA is using.
543  Economy / Services / Re: Senior QA Automation Engineer for hire! on: May 09, 2018, 02:40:12 PM
I'm still available for quality assurance related work on any crypto or non-crypto related projects that you need help with.
I also can manage any software project and have extensive knowledge of the software development cycle.

Please post here or PM for a free quote Smiley
544  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for BETA users! on: May 09, 2018, 02:36:43 PM
I earn my living as a Senior QA Engineer, if you need someone qualified for testing an app and reporting possible bugs to developers, please take a look at my thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2776647.0
545  Economy / Economics / Re: Bubbles on: May 09, 2018, 08:11:15 AM
That's a good list you have there, thanks for sharing Smiley

I would add to it:
+ The Mississippi Bubble 1720s
+ The British "Railway Mania" Bubble 1840s
+ The Florida Real Estate Bubble 1920s
+ The Stock Market Crash of 1929
+ Black Monday – the Stock Market Crash of 1987

I believe the next bubble will be crypto related (that is if we're not already living in one Cheesy )

547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [CryptoNight] CPU mining guide & coins that will get you a return on: May 09, 2018, 07:54:28 AM
I have added a new coin to the post in this thread - Triton. You can find more info on it in this announcement thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2944793.0

With a hash rate of about 150 h/s, you will get about 25 TRIT/day using the Cryptonight Lite V1 algo.
548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero low prices on: May 09, 2018, 07:48:14 AM
There is no Monero ban in Japan, just a recommendation by the FSA and so far no one has followed this recommendation. Also, the recommendation is probably due to the Coincheck hack and the Coincheck delisting of privacy coins.

So, just the usual FUD which isn't based on facts or reality.  Wink
I agree, it wan't anything definitive just some recommendation and proposals from the Japanese government. People are acting like sheep when it's about crypto currency and it seems like a lot of them never learn   Roll Eyes
549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The long term hold outlook on: May 09, 2018, 07:39:33 AM
I think anyone with a decent understanding of crypto currency already knows that the long term charts always are on a bull trend.

Holding coins until the project materializes is good strategy but sometime it can go south and you can loose your money.
550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What should be standard portfolio of Altcoins ? on: May 09, 2018, 07:35:21 AM
This isn't something that can be determined in percentages, you need to have a good portfolio of the coins you're tracking and believe they are going to increase substantially.

Depending on the type of person you are, you can go with riskier investments (hold more new coins with potential) or less riskier investments (hold BTC & ETH).
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bytecoin BCN) on: May 09, 2018, 07:31:49 AM
Bytecoin had a 120% increase in the last 3 days and it seems it still has good potential to go even higher.

Everybody is spreading misinformation regarding any type of coins but you need to filter out all the noise and focus on what's important - new exchange listings, dev work on track etc.
552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 08, 2018, 05:13:33 PM
7 kH on Monero is $11 *profit* per day or a ROI of 30 days. Why would you sell this? Use the bitmain strategy of mining first and selling later.
They need a lot of money to be able to build 5000 units and that's the whole idea for making them cheaper (I suppose). They're not an established company like Bitmain that has endless funds for R&D and a factory full of cheap workers to produce them, they need to have a lot of preorders in order to make this FPGA a reality.

If I had such a technology I would plug the first 5000 for myself. And I'm a rather nice guy.
You're a funny guy too  Cheesy
553  Other / Meta / Re: Share your thoughts : sMerit Review, Rank-Up Challenge, Signatureless Campaign on: May 08, 2018, 02:33:27 PM
I've always looked at these threads as being a FREE service provided by users (myself included), so since it's free, I don't see any issues with it being in the marketplace but it's still the moderator's decision in the end.

I want to think that my thread helped with the cleaning of the forums since I made people read the rules, made them avoid posting in useless mega threads and suggested ways in which they could improve their post quality (if only I could reach more people). I have seen a few users that improved the quality of their posts by following the advice I have provided for free.

Locking this thread as interest has faded and the thread has been moved to off-topic as of today.

Good luck Smiley
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 08, 2018, 09:20:12 AM
Can you provide more details about it like:
  • Does it produce any noise?
  • Do you need to cool it with an external fan?
  • I see you can connect a monitor to it, is it running an OS and you have access to a terminal to change the coin you're mining?
  • How do you power it?
  • Does it support other variations of the CN algorithm like CN-Lite, CN Lite-V1?

At the price you're promoting it, it will definitely be a success but we need a review from someone trusted and more details like photos & videos.

556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would be a good portfoio for holding on: May 08, 2018, 09:01:47 AM
I would go with some new coins with great potential. How about taking a look at: IOST, SUMO, MSR, IOT.

IOST, SUMO & MSR had some spectacular increase in the last time period, but volume wise MSR & SUMO were not that great. IOST instead has always been over $50m and today is at $90m, I see great potential in this one long term.
557  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One (1) Merit point to Rank-up Service, READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU APPLY!! on: May 07, 2018, 09:55:32 AM
We still have some sMerit to give to the right people, read the rules before you apply. Smiley

Just wanted to give you a heads up that the link you posted to the Forum Rules is a phishing link. Please update it.

Do not attempt to login to it because your account will be compromised.

Good luck with your service! Smiley

If anyone here was mining Pinkstar - PNKS

You need to swap your coins before the 27th May

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2723196.880
Thanks for the heads up! They were on and off with the swap for a while now. Didn't know if they were going to do it or not after all.

I have added this info to the main post in this thread for others to be aware of the swap.

Actually, I chose only two posts. Feel free to review the rest, I would like to improve and continue helping others. I have been quite active in TREZOR thread.

I like you're involved in the talks and actively participate in them, not just post something and never go back t it. Merited! Smiley

I applied here a long time ago but didn't got some merits from you so I tried to step up on my posts. Now I am reapplying hoping to get some of your merits. Thanks Smiley

You are willing to help people with good advice and that's always a good thing. Merited! Smiley
Suggestion: Keep helping people and create posts based on proper research and you'll receive merit with ease.

You have to increase the quality of your posts in order to receive merit. Try creating a post about something that you're best knowledgeable in.

I see you have improved the quality of your posts since you last posted here and you are on a good track. Merited Smiley
Suggestion: Keep learning more about crypto currency and focus less on getting merit. Merit will come when you start putting in the work and people will notice it.

Reviews are up to date again Smiley
I'm running low on merits so, will probably lock this thread soon.
