Something like users must earn 5 merits a months for their account to display a signature if being done by theymos or managers can make a user earn 1 merit per week to stay in a campaign.
This idea is good, and suitable to apply for next campaigns with new rules from forum admin. I am waiting for this one. It will be better to restrict campaigns like this because it will help to eliminate accounts which have already stayed at higher ranks before the launch of merit system. Those ones should be prevent to join campaigns somehow, and your suggestion might be one of appropriate solution to control spamming-higher-rank users.

Wrong! Only bad-quality posters complain that merit system is unfair. I look at your post history, most of your posts are one-line, Russian language, and maybe spam threads. I totally agree that agree that Merit is unfair.
Wrong too! Merit senders will lose their sMerits (which are the actual thing they send, not Merit points). Merit receivers will get both merits and sMerits, for one Merit point receive, merit receivers will get additional 0.5 sMerits. I totally agree that agree that Merit is unfair. Because its unable to produce more merit. You get 0.5 sMerit when someone Merits you, plus he looses 1 Merit.
Please read this one carefully to get what you have missed. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

actually merit system will not harm anyone in this forum. with this merit system I as a newbie be open mind to improve the quality of my posts. because the more difficult to raise the rank, then one way to do is improve the quality of our posts.
More exactly, the more difficult to rank up with merit and new rank system, the more deserved you will get after ranking up legally. And there are more ways to earn merits, but users should focus on legal ways as constructive users to contribute to the forum.

You will need 480 Activity to become a Hero Member so you need to invest time and effort before having that rank, good quality post is also a plus especially if you are interested in joining signature campaign.
You are missing a point, which is very important and harder to meet than activity-count. This is merit points. Since January of 2018, after the launch of merit system, users need to collect at least 480 activities and 500 merits to reach Hero rank. Please check it there if you are interested https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0The only way to earn merits is to be constructive by composing high-quality, informative, helpful breads and/ or topics; getting merit through illegal approaches is not recommended.

I agree with you. Accounts which won't get any merit (or specific number of merits depends on each rank because higher ranks should have more knowledge, more skills, more experience, so they will probably have more chances to earn merits) over a specific period (might be one, two or three months) should be disabled ability to wear signature.
Prerequisites related to merit points to join campaigns, bounties depends on those campaigns managers, not forum admin. So this suggestion is not appropriate.
Thanks for all of your recommendations, TheQuin.

I hope that I can do something to help the forum with my skills on statistical analysis, but I can not get data from the forum. Raw data is not enough to analyze, and I don't have skills to get more detailed data from the forum. Someone has done something and got more detailed datasets than raw ones published by Theymos, but they don't really want to share. It's a competition. I accept that fact. I will learn and someday I can get data from the forum by myself.

I did not say that system is unfair. I said, it is totally unfair. I have the right to complain as much as I want. I have the right to say my opinion as much as I want. You don't tell me how to behave, I am old enough. "Grow up" to your friends, please. If you want to educate yourself, start from your fundamental rights. Best Regards
Yeah, it seems that it's your choice to behave in the forum. Contribution to the forum and forum users is key to get merit scores from others. I have spent minutes to look at your post history, most of them are not high-quality, not useful (sorry, it is just my own assessment, maybe wrong); main part of them written in Russian. I don't think that local boad is a good place to get merits. One of your posts got 10 merits from one user, but honestly I guess it is not deserve to earn 10 merit points. Anyway, thanks for your discussion. Hope that you can rank up and get merit legally.

I have contributed to the forum through my threads, so I don't think merit system is something difficult for newbies/ junior members. We can live and rank up with the system as long as we keep contributing to the forum and help other users via high quality threads. Merit system was launched, has performed well, and will be there for a long time; so complaining will certainly not solve the problems of spammers, account farmers. They have to adapt, improve themselves, contribute more to rank up.

Improve your post quality, learning more to be more helpful, more knowledgeable; then users will recognize merit is fair system. If not, they will think that the system is unfair one. It's very simple. Please stop complaining about merit system. Accept its rules, grow up and get merits. That is my advice for someone who think that merit system is unfair. Merits will never come immediately after your threads published. It will come later, might be hours, might be days, might be weeks. The important thing is you will only have chance to get merit if your post quality is high; and it should be published in appropriate contexts, and it is informative, helpful.

Honestly, I don't think your post makes sense. It looks like a spam thread, no useful contents inside, and the images is almost oversized. Both of them make your thread a little bit annoying with readers who want to read around to obtain knowledge, lessons, sharing experiences. Please stop quote oversised-images threads next time. If quote, please delele lines related to images attached.

Which is best Windows wallet for Bitcoin? I would like to store my Bitcoins on my own computer, not on Blockchain.io wallet, so I glad to hear all your suggestions about best wallet for Windows. I have used several Altcoins wallets; but never use Bitcoin wallet. I am not familiar with this. Thanks for your help.

Merit system has helped, has changed the forum more than one month after its launch (in January). Nevertheless, somewhere in the forum (like Altcoins ANN/bounties, or even in Meta), there are still shitty-posts/topics created by spammers because those two reasons. 1) Spammers believe that they can get merits from spamming Meta, begging for merit sources with their shit (repeatedly). Overtime, they will recognise that they won't earn merits that way; then they will stop (and might start new strategy, lol). 2) Spammers, again, think that Meta board seems to be the easiest section to catch attention of higher ranked users, who can send them sMerits. Again, overtime, they will realize that higher ranked users will become more and more strictly when verifying post-quality before sending their sMerits. It due to two other factors, merits will be more scarce overtime; and if some spammers keep ranking up by their shitty tactics, merit senders will tie up their rules before giving away. As Vod said in above thread, merit senders should give strong signals about point of view. To sum up, merit system will continue to change the forum, both old good users and spammers (some will leave the forum, some will adapt to survive - I hope they will become good users in the forum due to effects of merit system; not innovate new strategy to rank up and spam.)

Your activity is updated every other Tuesday, you wont see your activity increase to (a maximum of) 70 until Tuesday 13th of March.
You have just enough merit to make it to Member, so you can expect the update to occur around the 13th.
I don't think what you wrote are exact ones about mechanism of activity-count in the forum. As stated by Theymos - forum admin - activity-count will be re-counted periodically for every two-week based on your starting day in the forum (your registration day). So the day will depend on specific account, we will not have exactly day as you said (Tuesday 13th of March) for automatically activity-count update for all accounts in the forum. Your thread could mislead readers (particularly, newcomers, newbies), and should be corrected a little bit. Please read it carefully there: The activity number is determined in this way: time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration activity = min(time * 14, posts)
Rough summary of what this means: If you post once per day on average, then you will eventually get the maximum number of activity points that you can get. Posting more than once per day on average is useless for increasing activity. The maximum number of activity points you can get is 1 per day, but your activity score only updates every two weeks. Therefore, it will take about 100 days to get 100 activity if you post once per day on average.
Activity is updated every hour.

Hello Sir, It seems that you forgot my case or my last 20 posts are not qualified enough to be mentioned in your thread. If you really forget it, please check my case when you have freetime, I will highly appreciate your help. If my last posts are under-qualitied, please let me know, I will try more. Thank you, Sir. Please spend a couple of minutes and take a forensic look at my account. I hope I can passed through your strict rules, if not I will try more and come back later. Thanks for your time, Sir.

Just for fun , and I hope that everyone will like it . I don't see there are demands for such a funny infographics, Theymos has announced about merit system and its rules, its mechanism, its desrired effects on forum users. If users who are really care about the forum issues and would like to contribute to the forum at the first place; they will spend several minutes (10 or 30 minutes or even more) to read the ANN very carefully. With them, they actually don't need such a funny infographics; simply they don't need them because they can understand the terms, rules by themselves via spending their time to read. I am sure that it is not certainly that infographics' creators put correct information or explanations or expressions in their arts. If they put wrong contents, express original ideas of merit system wrongly, those arts would lead to terrible misunderstandings on their readers. On the other hand, with users who are totally don't care about the forum issues, they need infographics for sure. Why is that? It is mainly because two factors. The first one is, they lack of proficiency in English (most of them are spammers, scammers, shitty-posters); they even can not read and understand topics/ posts correctly; they can not write a complete sentence with appropriate vocabularies and correct grammar. With those ones, infographics are utmost things. Secondly, merit system launched to give motivations for forum users to be more constructive over time with ultimate target is go enhance the overal quality of forum posts. I don't think that we (good users) should help those ones to rank up; they should do this by themselves. Most of them will continue to spam the forum after ranking up to at least Member in the forum. Lastly, infographics (most of them) are too large (oversized) and make readers uncomfortable to read. As Theymos stated some weeks ago, images are unpleasant problems in the forum recently due to massive abusements from lower users. Due to abuse, newbie-posted embedded images are now disabled on these pages: - Topic display - Recent posts / patrol - Previews They're not currently hidden in PMs or on some other pages (like a user's "show posts" page), though I might change that later if it seems necessary.
Disabled images get transformed into links automatically. When the poster becomes a Jr member, the images that he tried to post previously will automatically be re-enabled (though there might be a few minutes of delay).
This extends to all past posts as well as future ones.
Infographics might lead to new endemic (simply call it as infographics-endemic) in our forum (of course, at higher level).

I created a post in the service section that maybe most of you didn't see it. The concept is simple: read the rules and create an art that could help others (newbies especially) and in return for your contribution, you get sMerit. The topic (arts) contains also basic and helpful information written mostly in a simple manner and easy to read and understand. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2957836, welcome. (free ad theymos for a free work ) Hello Sir, Do you have signature code for Junior member or member rank. I would like to wear you signature because I strongly support merit system. I don't want to see spammers abundant in the forum and continue to move up to higher positions. They usually covered the forum with shitty posts especially in altcoins boards. By the way, I highly concerned about side-effects of your art campaign. The reason is it looks likely easier for merit beggers to get them from making inforgraphics, videos, etc. I don't deny their efforts, their time they put on those ones; they deserved to get sMerits. However the potential side-effects can occur is the forum will be abundant with infographics (part of them are oversized, make threads harder to read, etc.). As we can see Theymos limited ability to post images to Full Members and higher due to this unpleasant effects. I can not find the link to his announcement before disabling images for Junior members (I will update it later when I get it by chance).

I agree to disagree. First, you are right that they (most of shit-posters, spammers don't have ability to write good- (not high-) quality threads because they are lack of knowledge, skills, experience. Most of the time they spent in the forum till now is for spamming with shitty posts. They don't care about knowledge, skills, then that's why they are lack of them. But you are wrong at the following point. Right atittude is the first thing to change so many things. It's Knowledge-Attitude-Practice relationship. Changing attitude first, then getting more knowledge, and finally changing their practices by composing high-quality, constructive threads. Additionally, part of them have knowledge, skills, experience, by which I mean only small part of them are able to write high-quality posts, but they didnt' because they have no time to write such constructive posts (they are account-farmers so dont' have too much time for each account). It doesn't depend so much on attitude as much as linguistic ability and how stupid and lazy these shitposters are. Even if they're now extremely motivated to write very interesting, well-written posts, most of them just don't have the ability to do so.

Of course traffic would decrease hugely and people would flock to the next best thing but it wouldn't kill the forum. The forum will still be here and it will quickly turn into a utopia compared to what it is now. There's plenty of posters here who don't have or ever intend to join a signature campaign and in fact many of the best posters don't have a paid signature at all (DannyHamilton etc). I'm sure theymos has taken into consideration the huge effect banning signatures would have on the forum but he has also stated signatures will likely be the next to go in the merit system fails so for those thinking they'll never go I wouldn't get too cocky.
Traffic rise mainly based on spammers have two-side effects. It can help to attract more newcomers to the forum based on results they get from searching using google data base. These newcomers might contribute to increase passive income to the forum, but they can also get money out of the forum from signature campaigns (which dominate traditional advertisement banners). In contrast, spammers can form negative effects by their shitty, spamming threads which might abundant in the forum. Those shit they created will contribute to make ugly appearance of the forum; and can hamper potential newcomers to join the forum due to they won't have good impression at the first glance around several topics. To conclude, signature campaigns should be allowed but should be stricter managed (on both signature campaign managers and supporters).
