982  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I buy bitcoin as a newbie? on: April 19, 2023, 12:51:22 PM
Many newbies wish to buy bitcoin but most at times we buy in a wrong place, like the case of a brother who I taught what cryptosystem is about, after 3weeks of spending time with him. He avoid secretly just make sure I don't have the knowledge of how much he has and how much he wants to invest.

He went and meet some crypto vendors to buy bitcoin of $700 without my knowledge, which they actually create a wallet for him and buy bitcoin, lately to him, it was increasing in price because of recent bulls.

But unfortunately it was a scam site, he can not access the site again, he can't find the guy the create the wallet.
Sorry for your brother loss but you changed from "Where can I buy bitcoin" to "Where can my brother buy bitcoin". Your story is confusing.

This story has a message that if you are lazy and careless with your capital, no one can save you. There is no free lunch, and if you want to have it, spend some time to learn and do your own research always. Don't rely on anyone to buy anything for you.

Quote
I suggest newbies to visit bitcoin.com and buy any cryptocurrency.
What?

Again you changed from Bitcoin to any cryptocurrency. Confusing again.

Quote
You can buy with you gift card, debit card, bank account, apps wallet and so on to avoid loss.
  • Bitcoin [dot] com is a site of a scam team (Bitcoin Cash team). They wanted to claim Bitcoin Cash as a real Bitcoin.
  • On that site, I saw they have Wrapped Bitcoin which is a token and not a real Bitcoin. It can be de-pegged too.
  • Don't buy Bitcoin Cash or Wrapped Bitcoin

How do I become productive in this forum?. Being a good member does not mean you must be productive in creating topics like these. Focus on quality, not quantity but you should not chase any of them, let it be naturally.
983  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: April 18, 2023, 04:47:12 PM
Even though Chelsea is in a chaotic form, it doesn't mean that Real Madrid can beat Chelsea with a score like 3 to 4 goals. After all, in their first leg which was also played at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid only won with a score of 2-0.
They could as they created enough opportunities to win like 3 - 0 or 4 - 0 but some of their players were selfish and made bad decisions. I don't know those moments will be keys for Chelsea to make a comeback after all.

Quote
So yes, I personally predict that Real Madrid will not keep trying to beat Chelsea by a big score, because a draw is enough for Real Madrid to qualify.
At Stamford Bridge, Real Madrid don't need another win and they only need to have a draw or even lose with 1-goal difference to beat Chelsea after all. I believe Real Madrid will be able to achieve and even Chelsea score first, Real Madrid are strong enough to face with such pressure.

Quote
But regarding the match between Napoli against Milan, of course, this match will be a very interesting match to look forward to. The aggregate gap is not too big, of course, making Napoli, who will play at home, make a big effort to be able to beat Milan and maybe with a convincing score too.
Napoli will play with all they have as they will have their first semi final in their club history if they can beat AC Milan and go to semi finals. Osimhen is back and he will be a biggest hope for Napoli after some bad matches recently without Osimhen by his injury.
984  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What kind of Wallets are used by an Exchange? on: April 18, 2023, 04:26:00 PM
It has become quite common for an Exchange to get hacked.

Apart from basic security measures that I know as a user, which are 2FA, not your key, not your coins & non custodial wallet. Did anyone here investigated of the kind of wallets used by an Exchange
They use both hot wallets and cold wallets.

Hot wallet is used to receive user deposits and proceed withdrawals for users. When user send coin to a hot wallet, it will be automatically moved to a cold wallet.

In the past, exchanges used single signature wallet which is more vulnerable to hacks than multi signature wallet.

You can see some labels for exchange wallets: Hot, cold as well as multi-sign with number of co-signers.

985  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Price/Volume Excluded - Outlier Detected what does it mean. what does it mean? on: April 18, 2023, 11:31:41 AM
Anyway, that means price on certain exchange is much higher/lower than on the other exchanges so it has been ecluded when calculating average  and volume has been excluded too and that usually happens on dodgy exchanges.
It is more usually applied on exchanges with too low trading volume. They are more sensitive to price manipulations with big gaps between available buy and sell orders / walls. Big price changes on those small exchanges don't mean much for a coin because it does not reflect real market movement for that coin.

It's good to exclude those exchanges on formula for calculating average price of a coin. That will help inexperienced people avoid confusion and fomo unnecessarily.

A tip for newbies. If you want to check price of a coin, pay first attention on its price on an exchange with biggest trading volume for that coin.
986  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Zaraza Bot Credential Stealer, or time to change the browser. on: April 17, 2023, 01:33:52 PM
After I noticed one of my emails being compromised and some of my site data being breached, I stopped using those "save password" options. I know it's not safe, so I don't do it at all; it's one of the major targets of email hackers. Once they get into your mail, they will try to synchronize it with the browser and see users' browsing histories, then check the password saved.
You can check your email and see whether you should change its password or use an entirely new email.
Lastly, if you set up a recovery email address, you should check and change a password for that recovery email too. Those emails are linked together by your settings and if one email is compromised, you should be careful with other related emails.
987  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Zaraza Bot Credential Stealer, or time to change the browser. on: April 17, 2023, 01:23:26 PM
The data that this bot is focused on stealing should be the data that is stored on those browsers, like the saved password options.
You should check and disable that option. It's risky. If you prioritize convenience (by saved password option and synchronization), you are taking risk.

It is bad practice as some people use a same password on different platforms. The advice is using unique password for each account and don't use a device in which you store your bitcoin, to connect it to many sites, expose it with Internet too much. The best is make that device air-gapped to save your bitcoins.
988  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always hide your forum email address after registration. on: April 17, 2023, 01:06:39 PM
What is the point of hiding your email for registration here, if your email Stable080@gmail.com can be found in bounty spreadsheets. I am 99% sure you have used that email to register here Cheesy
It is your guess that can be correct or inaccurate.

If a person is seriously about security and privacy, he will use a specific email for important registration and account. Obviously, email for bounty or unimportant things should be a different email. I agree that most of newbies will use same email for many different things both important and unimportant.

990  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: April 13, 2023, 05:46:48 PM
At the moment it is almost halftime at the match between Feyenoord and AS Roma. AS Roma just missed a penalty kick. How important will that miss be for the 2nd half in this match? I think that could have major consequences. 0-0 at half time. I don't expect many goals anymore. Mourinho is the coach of AS Roma, who will be happy to park the bus, presumably at his own goal. And in the transition hope for a counter with a goal. They do have dangerous players, but that missed penalty kick can get into the head of the AS Roma players.
It's not strange to see Roma playing very defensive at the Feyenoord home stadium but they suddenly got a chance to open the match with a penalty. The shot of Pellegrini is not too bad but it hits the left goal-post and Roma missed that great chance to have a goal.

Except that situation, the first half is very boring and Feyenoord were not able to break the defense system of Roma. They will try to play more attacking in the second half to take advantage of a home stadium but Roma will be ready to counter attack with Pellegrini, El Sharawy and Spinazzola. It is a bit disappointed to miss Dybala in this match as he is important for Roma attacking system. In this match, El Sharawy is playing as a replacement for Dybala.
991  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: April 13, 2023, 03:08:01 PM
Knowing that this is a completely different tournament makes it difficult for me to predict that Feyenoord will win the match today despite their good performances their domestic league, because Roma is  not playing so terribly. Instead, I can say that it will be difficult for Feyenoord to defeat Roma given their disciplined defense style. However, I believe that the match will be difficult, thus I can't bet on any side to win because I believe that any team can win.
Serie A is still at higher quality level than Eredivisie (The Netherlands domestic league). Feyenoord have good form but AS Roma are playing good lately too. This match will remind Feyenoord about the last season final match in Conference League. Roma won against Feyenoord with the only goal from Nicolo Zaniolo who is no longer in Roma.

Feyenoord will host Roma in the first leg and Mourinho will surely let Roma begin this match with defensive tactic which is his most favorite formation too. He and Roma will wait for chances to exploit Feyenoord defense from counter attacking. If not succeed, they will wait for a second leg in Rome to beat Feyenoord. We can not underestimate Mourinho at knock out matches as he always has ability to maximize ability of his players to fight as best as possible in such matches.

Roma will rely on Dybala and Pellegrini to do counter attack as well as wait for corner kicks to find goals in Netherlands.
992  Other / Meta / Re: BM Signature ANN positive review campaign? Is there any rule to stop it. on: April 13, 2023, 01:46:39 PM
When you see such activities, only three possible situations:
  • It's a paid bumping service
  • It's part of requirement when joining a bounty
  • It's chasing for merit from bounty hunters if the manager is a merit source
With high intensity like this case, it is more likely the first and second situations. You only can report those bump posts to moderators who will handled it.
993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: April 12, 2023, 02:49:16 PM
This will bode well for Inter as they have shown great results in the game. Of course, for Leg 2, they won't waste it. Benfica was a bit of a let down as it left everyone hoping for his performance. The same goes for Napoli who also can't seem to underestimate Milan. Because unexpected teams will surprise you in the match later. Real Madrid needs to anticipate Chelsea's game, which so far is considered not good but does not rule out the possibility of doing better in the Champions League.
Two goals are big advantage for Inter Milan and with a traditional Catenaccio of Italy, they will be able to protect that advantage in the second leg and move to semi final. It's highly possible to see a semi final pair between two Italian clubs but will we witness a derby Milan in Champions League semi final. The last time it happened is many years ago in 2003 season.

Inter Milan vs AC Milan 10 amazing moments from past Milan derbies.

I think many bets were lost because of Benfica, because it seemed that Benfica should win at home and odds of 2.3 seemed very good and almost perfect, but something went wrong. In contrast to Bayern, Benfica had chances here, but a penalty at the end broke the game and probably deprived Benfica of further chances.
At home Inter will probably play on defense and it will be difficult to score even one goal, let alone two, almost impossible.

So probably we can say that with a probability of 80% Inter and Manchester City will pass on.
Benfica will have to do better than Porto if they want to beat Inter Milan in a second leg with two goal difference. It's not easy if we saw how Inter Milan played very defensive at Dragao stadium but this time it is harder for Benfica as Inter Milan will play at their home in a second leg.

Manchester City just got a big win that looks good for them before a second leg. The key in Munich is whether Bayern Munich can score a first goal early enough to create fear and pressure on Manchester City players. If they succeed to score first and early, they will be able to put Manchester City into another nightmare in Champions League. If Manchester City can maintain a draw after a first half, they will very likely to go to semi final.
994  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to buy or sell Bitcoin without using a centralized crypto exchange? on: April 12, 2023, 02:28:58 PM
Use this link for decentralized exchanges: https://kycnot.me/, but use the score to grade it.
Advising people to rely on third party review websites to trust any service is bad. You can use those sites but only for reference. You must do your own research to double check their review and grade on one service.

Like there are differences between Coinmarketcap and Coingecko for Binance exchange. It is clearly when Binance had fud attack months ago, its rank on Coinmarketcap is always higher on Coingecko. It's explainable as Coinmarketcap was acquired by Binance years ago.

Quote
Some are semi decentralized, while exchanges like Kucoin is centralized but does not require KYC.
As a centralized exchange, Kucoin can turn to KYC-required exchange anytime in future.
995  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's a crypto/bitcoin scam that most people and newbies simply don't notice? on: April 12, 2023, 01:18:25 PM
There are so many crypto/bitcoin scams that have been discussed on this forum. As a matter of fact there is a whole thread dedicated to it but then again we still see people falling for new, sophisticated scams which at first may not look like the regular scams we all have become used to.
They will use similar scam methods repeatedly and if you know about their most common scam methods and you can control your greed, you will not fall into scam traps.

Even if you don't know about their scam methods, if you are not greed and simply ignore "too good to be true" offers, invitation, you will not get scammed.
If you are carefully and have good habit on Internet, you will not be scammed by phishing links and similar.

996  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is a light on: April 12, 2023, 01:10:43 PM
Trying to convince people about bitcoin is the worst thing to ever do because those you are convincing aren't really ready to accept the risk.
It depends on what you tell them to convince them and you should tell them about risk, not only tell them about potential chance and profit.

Quote
Convincing someone is like telling them to start accepting the risk involving in bitcoin and anyone who is not yet ready to invest in bitcoin is just like forcing them to do what is not in their heart, whenever the price goes against them all the blame and reactions are being acted towards you for making them waste their resources without being ready for such action.
Even if you warn them about risk, mostly they won't mind about risk but pay more attention on potential profit. They are lazy enough to don't learn basics like how to use a wallet, backup, recover then they will give you an offer like "Use their money to buy and hold bitcoins on behalf of them". It is a most stupid part to do and if you agree with the deal, you are taking all risks on your shoulders.

Many risk on you like potential mistakes in procedure of buying bitcoin, sending it to non custodial wallets and risk of wallet hack as well.
997  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can owning 1 Bitcoin make you rich in 2023? on: April 11, 2023, 02:52:20 PM
Many people can not afford to buy 0.1 BTC so if you have 1 BTC, you are richer than those people.

About rich, what is your rich definition?

You should know in many nations, $20,000 or $30,000 is a dream of many people so I am sure with 1 BTC, in 2023 or 2024, you are rich in many nations.
If you can hold your 1 BTC till 2032, it would be better and you will be richer significantly.

See Controlled supply and at the end of era 7 (starts in 2032 and ends in 2036), 99.2% of Bitcoin total supply will be available from mining. I am sure you will be much richer than now (if Bitcoin won't die in 2032 or 2036).

Sounds like a nice addition, is there to make that "white dot" Blinking like this?

It won't be deployed because theymos is a classic man who don't like animated.

AFAIK, animated avatars were disabled years ago by theymos since 2019. Your proposed animated icon is less annoying than animated avatars, I understand, but chance to see its deployment is slim.
1000  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Question about Freezing of account on: April 09, 2023, 04:30:28 PM
EDIT: I saw it was just a phishing attempt, but my above scenario could be possible just in case that this is true for some exchanges.
Phishing attempt is a most obvious thinking but if it is a true request from an exchange, I am sure they are a scam exchange.

Like this
  • Beware of "Pay original fine" - a scam method
  • Some users say those scam teams even use that UI templates to repeat their scam with some exchanges
  • I am not sure OP fell an exchange with similar user interface? Are they back after 3 years?
