481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: new to bitcoin, don't know how to use on: September 27, 2021, 05:38:26 PM
Lots of knowledge is given in this forum, if you want to read you can learn here. After that you can start, everything will work and you will understand it along with your knowledge and experience. What is certain is don't be afraid to try and be careful, don't trust anyone. Many scammers are still on the loose.

Yes, the right way to approach this for a newbie like OP is to increase his knowledge about crypto first. He should browse the different sections of Bitcointalk as per his need.

Once he had learnt the basics, then only he should go for buying bitcoins or trading.
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex Today Spent Almost $23.6 Million Fees For a Single Ethereum Transaction on: September 27, 2021, 05:32:57 PM
Today Bitfinex Exchange transferred 100000 Usdt from one of their main wallets and for this transection Bitfinex spent 23.7 million $ ( 7,676.619078292762408538 Ether).

Here is the Transection ID : https://etherscan.io/tx/0x2c9931793876db33b1a9aad123ad4921dfb9cd5e59dbb78ce78f277759587115

Still now This is the largest Ethereum Transection Fees ever paid in dollar terms.

And The second highest Ethereum Transection fees paid in June 2020 worth of $5.2 million.

Isn't the whole point of crypto is to reduce this middleman huge fees like banks?
483  Other / Meta / Re: Integration of Mentions may make user experience looks simpler and easier on: September 27, 2021, 05:13:33 PM
From what I've seen, I don't expect the forum to implement this. If it can be handled by a user application, Admin doesn't need to spend time on it.
No, I'd bet the house this wouldn't be implemented.  And I'm not disparaging those applications created by members at all, but they seem to be like 3rd party aftermarket add-ons which are necessary only because there's so little development on this forum.  As far as the administrator not spending time on things like this, I'm left wondering if there's any time spent at all improving bitcointalk in its current state.

I've got the New Forum Discussion section on ignore, so I'm not sure what's happening on that front, but with all the resources Theymos has at his disposal and all the requests for simple forum features, I don't understand why he continues to do nothing except maintain his stony silence.  I'm pretty sure the members who've created the 3rd party applications are excellent coders and probably would have helped Theymos make those features an integral part of the forum instead of being things users have to implement themselves.  Am I way off base here or what?
I agree with you that there might be some good coders/developers here on the forum that can help theymos in implementing these features on the forum.

However, I can think of one downside to taking help from them. In future, if any upgrade or maintenance needs to be done regarding to these features, those members might not be available at that time. On the other hand, if the new suggested features are worked upon by in house staff, future work related to these features will be easier and in control.
484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin tipping on Twitter on: September 27, 2021, 03:30:25 PM
Yes, but it's through a browser plugin. Having it directly implemented to the platform is a big thing.

That will result in more adoption. Right ?
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rapper Snoop Dogg partnership with virtual blockchain world Sandbox on: September 27, 2021, 03:29:27 PM
Snoop Dogg has always been a good marketer. He is involved in a lot of businesses and products where you wouldn't really expect him to be a part of. He is someone that can appeal to many different audiences. I'm not into NFTs but I am sure that there is somebody out there who is a fan of Snoop and will decide to check this project out because of him.
He has diversified his earning sources which is always a good idea.
Some of the professions do not have that much stability or life, so it is better to try other ventures as well.
486  Other / Meta / Re: New feature suggestion: List all sale threads of members at one place on: September 27, 2021, 01:03:11 PM
bumping them all at once doesn't seem like a good idea anyway.
Why ?
487  Other / Meta / New feature suggestion: List all sale threads of members at one place on: September 27, 2021, 12:56:23 PM
One new feature that can implemented on the forum is listing all the sale threads posted by an user at one place.
Just like
"Show the last posts of this person."
and
"Show the last topics started by this person."

we can also have
"Show the last sale threads of this person."

Benefits
1)Member can find all his sale threads at one place. Can edit, change, lock or bump together saving time.
2) When someone launches a new sales thread, other members can check his previous sale threads and determine his professionalism. Will prevent fraud.

What do you think about this feature ?
488  Other / Meta / Re: Request another image option not working while registering a new account on: September 27, 2021, 08:21:39 AM
@OP, is there any post by theymos, where he approved and acknowledged your bugs publicly or it was all through PMs ?
According to requirements of security bounties, people are not allowed to publish the security bugs publicly.
Security bugs must be reported through email to a specific address and that's probably what krishnaverma did to be eligible for the reward.

Quote from: Security bounties
You must report the bug to the bugs email address listed on the contact page. You must not publish it elsewhere or share it with anyone else.

Earlier there was no email to report. I just messaged theymos the bugs and it went from there. I was surprised with the fast response and action.
489  Economy / Reputation / Re: Scammer parading in my dm on: September 27, 2021, 08:19:54 AM
So you created a garbage thread in which you wrote a very bland, repetitive anecdote about some friend who used leverage and you got a PM from a random member afterward....what do you want the community to do about it?

What are you insinuating?? I did wrong by alarming
Alarm whom ?
He meant you should handle such situation by using the report option.
You cannot achieve anything by posting a thread about this.
490  Other / Meta / Re: Banned words as usernames on: September 27, 2021, 08:12:29 AM
There's no such safety measures implemented to stop somebody from impersoning staff using a slightly different username.

That's not actually true. There's is some sort of restriction on creating names similar to certain users, especially staff. I remember on one of the April Fool's day I tried changing my name to something like hilariousandbro or hilariousandcrow or something and it wouldn't let me as it was prohibited. I changed it to something similar after a few tries but then had to get theymos or maybe cyrus to change it back as my original name was getting caught in the block haha.

Changing username is allowed ? How is it done ?
491  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I find signature campaigns ? on: September 25, 2021, 03:57:26 AM
I think there are only 3 available for your rank though.
@OP (no offense to 1xbit)I suggest avoiding joining 1xbit signature campaign, you'd probably get a negative tag from advertising their signature. they have a extremely poor reputation here in the forum. if you plan ranking your account further up to join better signature campaigns I'd say avoid them. anyway, goodluck!
There are so many members here competing for signatures that some will go for that campaign. Also, some might not be aware of the issues with them.
492  Other / Meta / Re: Donate option for bitcointalk staff on: September 25, 2021, 03:54:53 AM
In order to receive their payments for their moderation services, I understand that moderators are required to have a bitcoin address in their forum profile. If you want to donate to staff, you can use this information to send a bitcoin transaction accordingly.
I suggested this feature not only for staff but also for other valuable members making quality posts here. Like if you see some detailed and informative post from some user, you can donate to him. I know that currently merits are there to reward them but some people might not be after ranks.
493  Other / Meta / Re: Request another image option not working while registering a new account on: September 25, 2021, 03:49:15 AM
<...>
Possibly in light of this: https://bitcointalk.org/sbounties.php, although the reward bounties are security related, and despite explicitly mentioning that one "should not expect any payment for non-security issues", perhaps there may be some exceptional wiggle room.

I was paid for security relates bugs only. I was creating new account to test new features as I do not want to test with main account aa it can cause damage to main account.
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin tipping on Twitter on: September 24, 2021, 10:12:54 AM
This is a pretty good one especially for the influencers because if they join the bandwagon, they will be able to influence their fanbase to adopt bitcoin too and with more people using bitcoin, the market will eventually go up. Hackers will be feasting on this one though because they can hack verified people with influence to make a fake donation.

Yes, it is good for crypto in general. Now that it is rolled out from today, we will see the real impact in coming days.
495  Other / Meta / Re: Request another image option not working while registering a new account on: September 24, 2021, 10:09:36 AM
A curious question, why are you testing for bugs on the forum though?
To get paid for it like I have got in past from theymos.
496  Other / Meta / Donate option for bitcointalk staff on: September 24, 2021, 10:04:34 AM
I am suggesting  a new feature on bitcointalk.

There should be an option to donate to staff or other valued member making quality contributions on bitcointalk. Since this is crypto related forum, donation can be handled with bitcoin gateways. Do you think such a feature will be useful ?
497  Other / Meta / Re: Banned words as usernames on: September 24, 2021, 09:56:43 AM
when creating my account I tried the username satoshiprincess. It didn't work beacuse the name contained Satoshi. The creators of bitcointalk reserved the name Satoshi, other names may be reserved also.
It's the first time I've heard of such restrictions, does anyone know when they were applied? Huh

I did a search for the name Satoshi and found some accounts with that name. It is wrong to impose restrictions on every Satoshi name and this account for example ----> SatoshiDICE_PR.

also SatoshíNackamoto didn't get a negative trust.

In short, it should be taken case by case.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=406290

Here i is actually "  í " . He is abusing the system . Kind of bypass of not allowance of the word satoshi.
498  Other / Meta / Request another image option not working while registering a new account on: September 24, 2021, 09:19:14 AM
I tried creating a new account (I am testing bugs on bitcointalk). It does not give a new image when I click "Request another image " option on register page.
499  Other / Meta / Re: Banned words as usernames on: September 24, 2021, 09:17:06 AM
Is there currently some protection to stop a new user from using usernames like officialbitcointalk or names similar to other mods ?

If such a feature is not present, it should be implemented otherwise it can be abused.
when creating my account I tried the username satoshiprincess. It didn't work beacuse the name contained Satoshi. The creators of bitcointalk reserved the name Satoshi, other names may be reserved also.

I will also do testing and share results.

Another word that one cannot use in username is bitcointalk. I tried it and got error

"The username you tried to use contains the reserved name 'bitcointalk'. Please try another username."

Another reserved word is theymos

The username you tried to use contains the reserved name 'theymos'. Please try another username.
